Indexing across many documents

I am making a 442 page book, but the process used to get this book published has required me to ship the pages in spreads. So, I have 221 documents. I wanted to Index them ASAP. Is there a way to index all as separate documents or am I forced to make a book document with them?
If the answer is book, do any of you know a process that would allow multiple computers to access that document to assist in the indexing?

Yeah, you need to use a book. You could do the document individually and
then at the end combine them into a book, although you would have to be
careful with regards to topic names. Everyone has to be on the "same
page" and make sure the all use the same topic names.

Extend wi-fi across many acres?

Is it possible to extend a wi-fi network across many outdoor acres? Think hundred-acre cattle yards. I know very little of networking, but thinking power and "repeaters" could possibly do it? Of course, we don't have power out to all corners of these yards. Is there now some sort of solar panel with battery that a router could plug into? And lastly, even if we could get power out to these places, doesn't signal strength (or at least speed) diminish the farther you go from the office?
I'm just trying to detemine if it's realistic to "wi-fi up" an entire cattle yard, or if it's too difficult/not very realistic (in which case we'd have to write apps to be disconnected and just communicate with the server whenever close to the office).

Not sure exactly what you are referring to here. For example, this well known popular Apple support article....with specific steps to extend a network wirelessly......has been around for about 5 years in its present form, but it is a revision of another support document that was available long before that.

No, all AirPort devices for the past 8 years or so have supported wireless extension. But, that does not mean that any device will work any other device...... you have to have devices from similar generations to insure compatibility.

How can I apply a database change across many instances concurrently?

In support of a nationwide imaging application that will place HP UNIX servers housing Oracle instances in over 100 offices across the country, we're looking for the most efficient way to apply (distribute, execute, and validate) our database releases to all Oracle instances on the same day. Given a limited number of DBAs (3 or 4) and such a large number of instances located throughout the country, an automated solution is mandatory. Is there a tool or methodology available to handle this task?
Assumptions: the database structure across all Oracle instances will be identical and each database release (series of SQL scripts) will be consistent across all instances.

Thanks for your response. We're looking for a solution that will allow us to apply changes to the database structures (tables, indexes, procedures, privileges, tablespaces, etc...) via DDL without changing the underlying data. Each of the sites we'll need maintain will have their own unique data. Replicating the data is not an option. We are in search of a solution that allows us to apply a database structure change across many sites at one time without updating the underlying data.

I have typed many documents to pages and saved as a folder i have just looked in the folder and everything has gone help

On Lion 10.7.x you need to hold the CMD+r Keys insyead of notting from an Instsall Disc, but try that & step 3 onward...

How to update many documents in one go using portal permissions

I have two users in the portal with different permissions on a folder:
rct2774: Total control
rct3343: Read
So, connected to the portal, rct3343 can´t upload (or erase) any document.
Now, I´ve followed these instructions to update many documents in one go (found in "how to upload a folder containg HTML files in a KM folder" topic 22 - jun - 2006)
"You can use the WebDaV.
1. Get the WebDav path of your KM folder by going to details->properties->Access Links
2. Copy the url for the WebDav
3. Go to your desktop. Right Click on My Network Places.
click on open.
4. Click on add a network place.
5. Click on "Choose another network location"
6. Paste your copied url and click on next.
7. Enter your portal userid and password. Now drag and drop your files from desktop. "
But, updating this way both users (rct2774 and rct3343) can update, download and erase any document that belongs to that location.
Do you know a way to update many documents in one go respecting or keeping the portal permissions?

We are doing many tests now, so we´re using the server portal as repository in itself. It´s quite strange because the permissions work at the portal correctly but not by the other way.
Should I download the portal drive to the client PC for mantain the portal permissions?

Problems in indexing MS word document. Please help!

I stored a MS word document in a table as a internal blob.
The word document contains one line:
"This is test word document." Then I indexed it with inso_filter preference. I created a log file during indexing. The log file showed thatb there was no document indexed. Here was what I did:

I tried use SQL*Loader to load the word document. Part of the loader logging reads as following:
Table TEST:
1 Row successfully loaded.
0 Rows not loaded due to data errors.
0 Rows not loaded because all WHEN clauses were failed.
0 Rows not loaded because all fields were null.
Space allocated for bind array: 6720 bytes(64 rows)
Space allocated for memory besides bind array: 0 bytes

Total logical records rejected: 0
Total logical records discarded: 0

It seems that the file was sucessfully loaded into the database. Then I created index using the procedure I posted on this thread. I checked the table ctx_user_index_errors.

the returns are:

How to upload many documents in a KM folder in 1 go??

Im working on EP6 SP9.
I an doing an experiment wherein I have a query:
I have created a repository in KM. Now I want to upload documents from a folder on my PC.
Different ways this can be done:
1. FileServer.
2. This is what I have done -- Have mapped my folder on PC with my folder in Portal.
My query:
Is there a way by which I can upload many documents in 1 go...i.e. upload documents in a batch?
Please help me solve this query.

TREX doesn't index some PDF documents ...

Hello all,
we have installed EP'04s and TREX ver. 7.00.42.00. It works well except one thing. TREX is not able to index some PDF documents. Most of them is indexed correctly but some documents not. Actually the problematic PDF documents are indexed but their content is not. In search result is displayed message "No document excerpt available" for the documents.
I found SAP Note 622419 that could relate with that but I don't know how can I check:
1. What encoding was used in particular PDF form.
2. What fonts or what font types were used in particular PDF form.
Do you have any idea how to find out these information about a document? Or do you know where could be problem when TREX are able to index content of just some PDF documents?

Thank you, that was what I needed.
So now I know the test PDF document use only TrueType fonts. That means its content should be indexable for TREX but it isn't. There is just message "No document excerpt available" for this document in search results.

Ultra Search Indexer: Adding 'alien' document types.

The way the Ultra Search indexer finds src material will not work in my situation. While I may be able to give it databases to crawl, it cannot crawl our content, so the way that you tell the indexer about 'alien' document types by adding custom code to return lists of URLs so the indexer can read the src documents won't work in my scenario.
I want to know what the Ultra Search application does special when indexing documents?
Is there a description so I can reproduce using Oracle Text and perhaps point the Ultra Search querying component against my manufactured repository and have it work?

currently the "kind is document" also brings up .jpgs and .wavs which I dont want, (or consider documents).

1.Goto the transparent table KNA1
2. select the button Indexes (which is next to the techincal settings button)
3.list of alredy existing indexes are displayed
4. in the dialog displayed select the icon create.
5. specify the name for the index to be created ( should start with Z)
6. screen for specify the index fields will appear, specify the details based on your requirement.
Note:
1.creating an index will created a sorted copy of the DB table with data with limited fields
2. Try using already created indexes , only if necessary create new index
3. Here table KNA1 is used as an example

Pdfs have no concept of words. Combining pdfs cannot be done with Reader. You need either Acrobat on a Mac or PC or perhaps with the PDF Pack service.

How many documents are there in this Package?

At the moment I work around it by using Search on a character pretty much guaranteed to be in them all, but I'd expect it to be a property stored somewhere?

And it changes rapidly, and it would be different for each country, so unless someone went in and counted them manually in your country's iTunes Store, there won't be an accurate figure available.
