Individual "Sent" folders

I have two mail accounts, e.g. Mail1 and Mail2
Is it possible to have two folders in the "Sent" area, one for each of my mail accounts. And of course have the mail sent from say, Mail1 go automatically to the "Sent Mail1" folder?

I apologize. My question was worded very poorly.
You are correct. I have two sub-boxes under the paper plane "Sent"
What I am interested in doing is using the "Use This Mailbox For" feature under the Mailbox menu item but all of the options are greyed out.
I would like to be able to assign certain mailboxes.
Why are they options all greyed out?

Mail - Multiple Imap Accounts - Sent Folders

I have multiple Imap accounts set up in my mail.app. I know of the feature to set the the sent mail folder. But what do I do with multiple imap accounts and multiple sent folders? When I would like all my accounts to have the correct sent items.

Not every IMAP server requires that you use that command -- if not needed, then the options for that command will be gray when you select an individual Sent mailbox from the Sidebar. Are you saying there is no black triangle beside the Sent icon, even though you have sent a message from the account?
Control click on the Inbox of the second IMAP account, and choose Get Account Info -- there, under the Quota Limits tab you will see all the folders that currently exist on that IMAP server. What do you see?

Emails Not Appearing in Sent Folders on My Mac Airbook

i use yahoo and gmail to send emails. When i send emails or reply to emails they go to my outbox folder and then get sent. Unfortunately they don't remain in my sent folders. How can I fix this so my emails stay in the sent folders?

I found a setting under advanced options where by setting the sent items under server that they now reflect.

There is probably something wrong with the Envelope Index file. In the few cases I've seen something similar, however, there was also something wrong with the structure of the Mail folder, and we must fix that before trying to re-create the index.
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post, to let me see the names of the files and folders present at the root level of the Mail folder.
Before actually posting that information, you may edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you wish to keep private, e.g. you may replace any real username with "username" if you wish; similarly, you may disguise any domain names you don't want to be revealed. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.
Now, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. With that folder open, repeat the process to let me see the names of the files and folders it contains. Again, you may disguise any mailbox names you wish to keep private.
Finally, locate the account folders within ~/Library/Mail/ -- their name begins with the account type (POP, IMAP, .Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. For each account folder, repeat the process to let me see the names of the files and folders it contains.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's ~ folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

Email sent but cant find it on sent folders, drafts or anywhere?

Email sent but cant find it on sent folders, drafts or anywhere, have a message sitting in drats that says message upload incomplete..

Draft and Sent Folders

I just restored my software (to see if it would improve phone reception; it didn't), and my Drafts and Sent folders are now missing. When I go to Settings, Mail and Advanced, I find no capability to add these back.
Any hints, please?

They show up once you Send a mail item. And draft will show up once you save a draft (start a message, cancel it, tell it to save).
May not of noticed before, but that is how they showed up the first time.

Generic UserID for a Subject Area for 10 users with individual my folders

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to create a generic user for a subject area so that all the 10 users of that particular subject area should able login with the same username and if they create any reports it should be saved to their individual my folders, which means all the users should have their individual folders even though they login with one generic userid. Can anyone help me in this. Actually is this possible?

I've deleted all of mail, including trash and sent folders, but my mail usage stays high at around 1.4 gb. What am I missing?

It is possible it just hasn' updated yet.
Try resetting:
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

Two Sent Folders?

I recently set up an IMAP account with gmail (used to use pop with gmail).
I've heard this is better when using multiple devices (computer, ipod touch)
Thing is now in Mail, and on my Touch, i have two sent folders, the devices sent folder and the gmail send folder. Is there a way to consolidate? it just seems redundant. What is the purpose and is this how its supposed to be?

That is just the way it is now. No way to go around it right now.

ICloud email - Sent Messages using up storage, multiple "Sent" folders

Several questions about iCloud email that I cannot find answers to on Apple's KB articles:
First, my situation.... I have the standard 5gb account and use it primarily for email and do not backup to iCloud. Right now my Account Info in OS X Mail shows 0% usage in the graphic, and no info next to "Currently in Use" and "Total Available", which does not agree with what System Preferences reports (300 MB of usage my iCloud Mail). That's a separate issue and most likely a bug in OS X. One of my "Sent" folders is showing the majority of this usage. My primary issues are as follows:
1.     I have iCloud email setup on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, all systems running latest OS X and iOS versions. Why are there 2 Sent folders, and two Trash folders showing in Mail? Why is there a Deleted Messages folder on my Mac Mail app if I already have a Trash folder? On iPhone and iPad I also have 2 Sent and 2 Trash folders, as well as the web interface if I log into iCloud in a browser. This is not logical to me at all.
2.     Why is my Sent folder taking up so much space? Currently it is showing the most usage by far. I don't keep emails around and keep my inbox very small. But I see that the Sent folder has messages from January 2013 in there. What's Apple's method for a user managing their 5gb of iCloud space as far as Mail is concerned? Do they expect me to go to my Sent folder, of all places, highlight all the messages, press Delete, THEN go to the Deleted Messages folder, and the hit trash again? I find it hard to believe that Apple expects users to perform this set of tasks to free up space.
3.     Is there a way to have only ONE Sent foler, and ONE Trash folder, synced across all devices? This, to me, would make the most sense and would fit with Apple's reputation for simplicity.

Not sure if this is a fix, but I tried sending myself a test email from only the Bcc field, and lo and behold it now shows the Bcc field in all sent item previews;
...maybe leaving the 'To' field blank on purpose forced Mail to show it.
Rebooted the Mail program, still there - rebooted the machine, still there. Hope this is still relevant and it works for you too - J.

Where are my hotmail sent folders?

I just installed Lion and updated my email accounts into my Mail.app , but i can only see sent folders from my gmail accounts
where or how can i get my SENT folders from my other accounts?? i cant even see folders from other non-hotmail accounts just gmail

Is your email account IMAP or POP? If POP, then the folders are defined locally on your mac. If IMAP, then you should be getting all the defined folders that are on the email server.
So... IMAP or POP? If not sure, who is your email provider? Google? Apple? ....?

Email not being saved to sent folders

Trying to check if I sent an email from my macbook yesterday. I am 90% sure I did. But it's not saved in my sent folders. Is there any other way of checking if it was sent?

Sync Network Solutions Outlook & Z10 Sent Folders...already upgraded IMAP

I use Network Solutions email and I am trying to sync my Sent folders between Outlook (Office 2007) and Z10 email.
Network Solutions told me that I must buy a POP to IMAP upgrade (which I did and email sending and receiving is working fine)...but I still can't get the Sent folders to sync (On the z10 Sent folder sync box is ON)
Anyone has a suggestion or experience with this?

Sorry to hear you're having an issue syncing your folders.
Go to Settings>Accounts>(tap on your Network Solutions email)>Edit Folder Settings and ensure there's a check mark in the Sent Items folder.
Tap the Back Button to save the changes then access the Hub. Tap on the 3 dots on the bottom right corner and select Settings>Display and Actions and ensure Show Sent and Filed messages is set to On. Tap back to save the changes.
When you go to the Hub, are you now able to view your sent emails?

2 Trashes, 2 Sent Folders

I thought I had this problem solved with the help of a forumer here. Basically I have one IMAP account set up on mail. When I send email or trash email from my home computer the messages do not show up in trash or sent in the blue folders (see image on link below), they only show up there when I trash or send email from a remote computer using webmail.

So was trying to figure out why I have 2 trash cans and 2 sent folders and deleted one of the trash files in the library, now all I have is the paper airplane sent folder and the trash can icon is gone now.
Any idea why this is set up this way? and how can I get the trash can icon back> I tried reinstalling mail from my 10.4 cd but it is still gone.

OK, good so far. Mail was initially confused by the missing INBOX prefix and has probably lost track of where messages should be stored on the server.
If you see a mailbox with a generic folder icon in the mailboxes list, it means Mail is not using that mailbox for anything. The Sent mailbox with a generic folder icon that you now see in Mail almost certainly corresponds to the Sent folder on the server that you want to be used by Mail for storing sent messages. You can accomplish that selecting the folder and doing Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Sent.
Similarly, if you want Mail to move deleted messages to the Trash folder that's on the server, select it (the one with a generic folder icon) and do Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Trash. Alternatively, you may want deleted messages to be stored locally instead of on the server. In that case, you should go to Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors and disable Store deleted messages on the server. That, of course, would cause the Trash folder on the server to be treated by Mail like any other folder there.
