Individual tracks appearing as albums in iTunes

I have several albums which have been on a back up server for several years which when I try to bring into iTunes insist on splitting themselves up so that each track appears as an album. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to ensure the tracks are kept within an album?

Make sure the artist name is spelt in an identical manner on every track. Even an extra space at the end of the name that you might not notice can make a difference. Try this even if everything looks the same. Sort your iTunes library by artist to bring your tracks together. Click on the first track by your artist, hold down the shift key and click on the last track in the list, this will highlight all in between. Right click on the list and choose Get Info, you get a dialogue box asking if you want to update multiple items, click Yes. If you see the "artist" field is left blank, then there is a discrepancy with that name. Overtype the artist name then click ok and this will ensure the whole selection is identical.

  • How do I inport an individual track from a CD to itunes 12?

The latest version of iTunes (12) *****!  Apart from the missing sidebar which has annoyed many, my new gripe is that I have not found a way of importing individual tracks from a CD into iTunes (& hence my I-pod).  The only way I've found to do it so far is to import the total CD and then delete the tracks I don't want from iTunes.......doh!!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hello ed2345,
Thanks for the answer and it works!  It's not as intuitive or easy as with the previous version of iTunes - where you could click and drag the tracks you wanted to import - but it's way better than importing all and then having to delete the unwanted tracks.  Good job.
Glad it helped.  Enjoy the music!

  • How can I renumber tracks on an album in iTunes?

How can I renumber tracks on an album in iTunes?

Right-click a track, choose Get Info, go to the Info tab, and type a new number into the Track Number field, then OK out.  Do this for each track that you want to change.

  • You can download individual tracks and delete music with itunes match on

You can delete music with itunes match on:
settings - general - use - music - all music
in the right corner above you can click on edit and choose delete.
You can also download individual tracks:
click on the "cloud download" icon in an album. It displays the icons to start downloading. You can tap on stop of the songs you don't want to download and then those songs won't be downloaded.

unfortunately the delete method deletes all the music you downloaded, not possible to delete individual tracks

  • Can no longer play individual tracks within a Podcast on iTunes 11

I have a good amount of podcasts that I subscribe to where there are tracks within the podcast. On my iPhone I can skip from track to track, and before upgrading to iTunes 11, I could do it in iTunes as well - basically would click the album artwork, and I could select track numbers from a drop down list. That drop down list doesn't exist anymore, and all I can do is fast forward, rewind, or skip to the next podcast episode.
Anyone have similar problems or a solution? Thanks in advance.

    anyone have any ideas?

  • CD names/track names/artists not showing up even with store bought CDs. Also it thinks each individual track is an album, how do I fix this?

Help! I have watched all the tutorials, clicked "get track names" and "get album art"  - nothing works. How do I fix this?

Presumably then, you have a tick-in-the-box of the field in your iTunes at Edit/Preferences/General>When you insert a CD:>Get track names from the internet and your iTunes is allowed to get to the internet? It might be your firewall or anti-virus programme stopping access to the internet.
Can you get to the iTunes Store? If not, then that is probably why iTunes cannot get the track names. Do you see iTunes "looking" for Gracenote (where it gets the track names)? A small box "Gracenote logo" appears briefly in the top left corner of iTunes as it goes to Gracenote.
Do you get any error messages at any time?

  • I have just downloaded an album. There is meant to be 27 tracks on this album, however Itunes has only actually downloaded 23. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Is there a website that rates the tracks on an album?

I have been updating my iTunes library and using Amazon.com to get album covers for cover flow and to help get song titles to complete some albums that i already have to make sure i get all the tracks i want. Amazon shows a rating for an album, which i think is helpful....but what about the tracks?
Does anyone know of a website that rates / ranks the individual tracks on an album or CD? I think this would be helpful b/c i have hundreds of albums with only one or two tracks on them, and i want to know what are some other good tracks to download from the album.
Any help on this would be appreciated - THANKS

Allmusic rates albums on a five star system. Within an album, it gives recommended tracks a checkmark. That's the closest I know of to what you are looking for.

  • Can't sync new album from itunes to ipod

have recently downloaded new coldplay album from itunes but ipod will not pick it up during syncing, however will pick up recent podcasts??? any suggestions please!!!!

Your computer may not be authorised. Try playing a track from the album from itunes. If you are not authorised, it should prompt you for your password. Once authorised it should transfer to the iPod.

  • Copy individual tracks from ipod??

iv'e been given great suggestions for moving the entire ipod library onto the hard drive but my h.d. is only 8 gigs!! (and all my cds are 6000 miles away). my library on my ipod is already bigger than my harddrive.
i've just downladed yamipod: does anyone know if it is possible to move individual tracks from that back to itunes?

Yes, you can do individual tracks with yamipod, just scroll down to the track you want and under the file menu there is a copy function. Good Luck.

  • Why does iTunes show tracks that I've ripped from a single CD as individual tracks with individual albums all with the same album name?

I've looked all the data about each track in terms of album name and other seemingly relevant pieces of stuff, but whenever I look at my songs by albums, it still shows these tracks individually. It's like the same album is repeated over and over instead of the album appearing once with all the tracks listed beneath it.

EG. A CD upload has all of the tracks appearing as indivual alumbs. But as its not physically on the computer anymore I dont seem to be able to do anything about it.  Is there away for me to access cloud and rectify this? or manage it from a device?
    Thanks
You can edit the "metadata" of the tracks in the cloud just as you would if the tracks were physically on your computer. Hightlight the tracks of the album you want to edit, do a Get Info..., edit "metadata," click OK.

  • How to show individual track information (like in the old iTunes) of a single artist (or that artist's album) without all the noise of every single other artist close in the alphabet?

The new iTunes has truly added extra visual noise.
I am trying to view a single Artist and the individual track information of that artist.  This used to be how itunes was, you could click on a single artist and then the tracks would all have their various categories.
I can still see this but only in the "songs" category and in that I have to see every single song or artist alphabetically.
How do I simply see the artist, and that artist's tracks, as well as the different info about that track I want to see, such as "name, track #, time, year, genre, bit rate, kind, etc."
Please don't counsel me on what information I need to see, or suggest that I stop caring about this, or ask me why I want to see this various info.
It was simple and accessible in the older version and I would probably stop complaining to all of my friends about the latest version of itunes if I can see this old format.
Or... is there a way to re-download the old version?  It's okay that you've made mistakes, every company makes mistakes, if I can revert to the old version that would be great.
    Thank you.

Select the Songs tab, then under iTunes Menu select View then click Show Column Browser. You will see the familiar GENRES ARTISTS ALBUMS header, click on one artist and you will have only the artist's albums and songs showing in the window below with all the specific info you selected under View options. If this is not what you wanted, simply reply with a nice "no thanks".
Search this forum for instructions to reinstall iTunes 10.7, there are quite a few posts explaining the process.

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

Not sure what would cause that. Try deleting all the songs and re downloading them.
From iTunes Store go to Purchased in Quick Links on the right.
