Industry Business Process Frameworks and Models

After I did some preliminary research on reference models, can anyone tell me how to use these models and still utilize (leverage) SAP's Process Map?"

Hi,
The Solution Composer is an ideal tool for planning, defining, documenting, and communicating your business solution requirements. The Solution Composer contains more than 50 Solution Map and more than 300 Business Scenario Map templates.

Modify and create Solution Maps and Business Scenario Maps
Assign business goals and objectives, products, key performance indicator (KPI) definitions, user-defined properties, and attached documents to Solution Maps
Assign role information, business documents, and other attached documents to the Business Scenario Maps
Link the elements of the Solution Maps and Business Scenario Maps to produce your own in-house and inter-enterprise solution

  • Having variations of same business process, How to model?

Customer has several variations of the same business process. How to model them in Solution manager's project implementation tools? I actually created this same question in 'Business process expert' forum, so please read the whole story there and earn your points there.
Having variations of same business process, How to model?
    Best regards,
    Kimmo

    Hi Kimmo,
I wouldn't use process steps to refine processes. This is incompatible to SAP implementation content coming from BPR (Business Process Repository). But a good idea would be to copy the main business process e.g. "Sales order processing" into two new processes on the same level, e.g. "Sales order processing by manual input" (variation1) or "Sales order processing by incoming interface" (variation2). Then you can use the Compare Button on the variations to see if any changes have been on the main business process and copy them to the variations. This minimizes the effort to keep track of changes after creating the variations. When you run transaction SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE on that project these changes even get flagged. Mostly this function is used to upgrade against BPR or a template project but it works also for copies inside a project e.g. to model variations.

    Hi,
What is a Business Process Repository and where do we get it in SAP?

    Hi,
Here is an another way to look at the BPR-Business Process Repository delivered by SAP.
    1. Add the Web Dynpro application Business Process Repository (BPR) to your Favorites:
    2. Choose  Favorites  Add Other Objects  Web Dynpro Application  in the SAP initial screen.
    3. Enter SM_BPR_OVERVIEW in the field Web Dynpro Application.
    4. Enter a description like ex. SAP BPR
    5. Save your changes.
    6. Now Call the saved - Web Dynpro application SM_BPR_OVERVIEW
    7. You can see the BPR in a new browser window.

  • Business Process Analysis and Design

    hellow fellows
Please can u explain to me briefly what's involved in Business Process Analysis & Design
    Thanks
    Rasham

    Hello Rasham,
Business process analysis and design is a part of implementation / upgrade project. As name suggests it will analys client's business process to make the standard process across the group of company and make it most optimized to get maximum ERP support.
Some time it will cover under blueprint phase and some time it can be carried out as a saperate process before actual start of implementation.
The following link will give you detailed information about all phases of the project including Business Process Analysis and Design.

  • How to save business processes structure and monitoring parameters?

    Hi dears!
I've got a little question -is it possible to save business processes structure and monitoring parameters as a local file?
    Thanks in advance!

One way to resolve this problem is use the method commit_and_refresh as shown below.
       data: lv_dest           type rfcdest.
        cl_hrrcf_m_rfc_services=>commit_and_refresh( lv_dest ).

  • Problem with Business Process Publisher and AIA

After installing AIA 11.1.1.5, I installed the Business Process Publisher following the instructions in the AIA Installation Guide at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/aia.htm, sec. 8.3: "Manually uploading reference process models to business process publisher".
Since I could not find the Publisher installation files in the AIAFP install I downloaded from OTN, I used the Publisher installation files from the BPA OTN download (files Oracle_BPA_Suite_11.1.1.4_OTN_1of2.zip and Oracle_BPA_Suite_11.1.1.4_OTN_2of2.zip - I did not install BPA before installing Publisher).
Now when I launch Publisher the login page says "Currently, no exports are available. You can only log in to the administration area at this time". If I login, the new page does not show any AIA contents, only the message "There are currently no profiles available". (I am not sure which “exports” and “profiles” it is talking about).
Evidently something is missing, but I cannot figure out what.
    Thank you,
    Ugo

    Hi TAB--
When you installed the platform, did you install the whole thing, or just part
of it? If you chose not to install the examples, or if you chose not to install
Integration, that would explain this behavior. If not, we'll try to go from there...

  • Easy Cost Planning: Calculation Row (Business Process) in Cost Model Derivation Rule

    Hi All,
    The Requirement:
Using the Cost Model I am able to do up to Sub-Total Value.  I tried with Calculation Row (Business Process) in the Cost Model Derivation Rule, but could not succeed.
I tried with Base Planning Object, but the formulas are different for other scenarios.  Which require 5 to 6 Base Planning Objects are required to be created to get the total amount for a single line item, in the construction project there will be more than 10,000 line items and it is very difficult to maintain the data and also it is time consuming.
Can you suggest me, how to map the requirement?
    Best Regards,
    K. Rajendra Prasad Rao

You need to check the following for the material cost to appear in network costing:
    1. Check whether costing variant is assigned to the network or not.
    2. Check whether costing relevancy indicator is checked in material component assigned to the network.
    3.  If costing variant exists, check the valuation variant and strategy sequence for material valuation.
    4. Go to the material master and see whether price is mentioned  or not.
I would suggest you to use Network costing, Also note network costing are recorded in Co version '0' so if you have maintained your ECP for '0' version, there is a chance of both the costing getting added up.

  • Diff. between business process masterlist and business process procedurelis

    hello gurus,
pls tell me the main difference between business process master list and business process procedure list
so please help me in this matter.
    regards,
    muralidhar.t

    hi,
Business process procdures ( normally called as BPP)  are one  which explain users how to perform a transaction  or a series of transaction for carry out a business acitvity  ( Like   creating a PR, converting PR  and releasing it).
Business procedure Master list  ( called BPML )  is done in the begining of the project to define  the scope  and cover  all the processes that the project will be covering .   You will track all the deliverables on the project based on the BPML  ( It will contain  process and sub process descriptions )
Example :  Order to cash  -->  Book order, Acknowledge order,  Amend order,  Ship , Bill, returns  etc..)
Hope this  should give you an idea.  For details  refer to implementation methodlogies  ( like ASAP)  .
    cheers

  • Regarding Oracle Business Process Manager and WS-Security

    Hi All,
Actually I like to invoke couple of secure services running on seperate
server runnnig JWSDP.These services are using WS-security,so I am just
wondering if it possible to call these webservices through Oracle
    Business Process Manager.
As our secure services are using JWSDP so thats the reason we prefer to
use the BPEL engine which deployed on top of JWSDP so that We dont
have to confront with compatable issues among different toolkits.
So I am just wondering do you think that Oracle business process manager
ws-secuirity implementation can use the JWSDP implementation i.e
xws-security implementation,in otherwords is it possible to use JWSDP
with Oracle business process manager for using the ws-security?Thanks.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Kashif

yes we do native in Oracle BPEL PM (username token) - as explained here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/documents/bpel_admin_10.1.3.1.0.pdf page 30
for more sophisticated ws sec stuff, pls use Oracle Webservice Manager

  • Business Process Flow and Structures of R/3 for BW

    Dear Gurus,
Given that BW person need not have detail understanding of R/3 modules, like to know is there a book, from SAP or others, to bridge this gap? That is, one that enables BW person to have sufficient functional knowhow of all or some of the modules.
Appreciate if either Mary (Huang), Anil or Arun could advice what are the tables involved for inventory extraction and what functional knowledge is required.
    best regards,
    Bryan

    Hi Arun,
    Thanks, points awarded.
So, not knowing MM, does it mean you cannot be employed as BW for MM? Are you stuck with just extracting for the module you know? How is it in reality?
Are there more BW who were functional consultants first than BW who know BW only (as starting point for bw career)? I hope to get a concrete answer which I have so far not been able to get. Is it the norm for clients to employ only functionally-experienced Bw or a pure BW will do? What is it like in the real world, in USA, Europe or Australia or Asia?
When applying for a BW job, I had tried selling that I could explore and use Business Content to address the requirement as a first step approach to solutioning. I also said that usually if there is R/3 system, there would be existing client's functional team whom Bw person can check with for details and help on functional portion. Unfortunately, the interviewer did not like it. They want a bw person who can talk the functional lingo like a functional expert.
I had also encountered a situation where another company wanted a bw person to load just a few cubes for a R/3 module. They also insisted having a functional expert who is certified in BW.
What am I to do with my BW certificate? No one in the world wants to give me a chance. What is the value of a BW certificate which does not enable me to get a job as BW consultant? BW wannabes who do not come from functional background should avoid taking BW or risk suffering like me (still searching an answer as to what to do with this paper). And consider wisely before investing a big sum of money on such a course. Its a good course but is not advisable for non-functional people who want to be functional BW. In this world, no one would care to give you a chance to learn even if you sell for free. I speak from painful experience. I may never recover the investment I put in with my hard-earned savings.
Last but not least, which functional module must I invest in, again, to get the most chances for projects? Usually, is it only single module extraction or multi-module for projects? Which module should I learn? After learning that, how many years of functional experience must I clock before qualifying to be a BW person? Or would it better if I just stick to functional R/3? I just beg to know what exactly will qualify me a job.
    TIA

  • What is a Business Process Expert? and Business Analyst?

In response to Sinem Dorter's very interesting and informative blog about Composite Analytics at Whirpool, I'd like to ask how people would really define what is going on there.
Are modelers of composite applications business analysts? Business process experts? Application specialists? All of the above? None of the above?
What unique skills are required to distinguish, say, a business analyst from a business process expert?
And can a business process expert be a team of people: maybe an enterprise analyst, a business process expert and an IT application specialist?
    I'm curious to read responses.
    Judy

    Hi Judy,
I agree with you. Sinems blog from Whirlpool is really interesting and well written.
Thanks a lot that you have the courage to open the first discussion in relation to her blog.
Now to your question what's the difference between a Business Process  Expert and a Business Analyst.
    <u>Definition of a Business Analyst</u>
Please find below a small  section of the Roles and Responsibility Matrix of SAP xApp Analytics . You will find it also in our OKP (Online Knowledge Product) of Analytics in Service Marketplace, alias rkt-analytics.
    - Responsible for assessing the business requirements
    - Communicate with the business users for project
      requirements
    - Act as the critical link between end users’ business
requirements and data architecture solution together
      with the Application Developer
    - Possess and provide deep knowledge of current business
scenarios such as: SAP BW Business Explorer Queries
      and SAP CRM, SRM, MIC
    - Design and develop a data access solution
    - Understand SAP Analytics models and become an expert
      on Analytics
    - Conduct Analytics workshops
    - Create and provide business requirements documentation
    - Provide content “know-how” and knowledge transfer
      documentation
    <u>Definition of a Business Process Expert</u>
Business process experts have the business knowledge and IT sway to make business process innovation happen in real time by adapting, composing, and executing end-to-end business processes using composition software tools and enterprise services.
SAP enables the business process expert to drive real-time business process innovation by providing a rich combination of industry business process and services content, and composition software tools from a proven business process platform.

Now I am interested to hear what others say!
Also I am sure there are much more questions/comments regarding Sinems blog.
Or do you have also experiences which you want to share with the BPX-Community?
Don't hesitate to use the forum for this!
    Kind regards,
    Sabine
