Industry standard for CoS value mapped to DSCP EF?

Hey,
I was looking for some documents configuring HP switches to work with cisco phones and running QoS. I found somehow other vendors (HP and Juniper) are by defualt mapping DSCP 46 or EF to CoS 6. My memory servers that Cisco mapps EF or DSCP 46 to CoS 5.
I know the DSCP-COS mapping can be modified but which one is the standard really?
/S

If you looking for some industry standard documentation on QOS marking then you can refer IEEE 802.1P.. It is a mechanism for implementing QoS at the MAC level..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_P802.1p
But since you are working with Cisco Phones, they will mark RTP traffic at layer 2 (COS=5).. so i think you should configure your HP switch with cos value 5 for RTP traffic.. Hope this helps..

  • Industry standard for alloting Flash Development time

Does anyone the industry standard for the time it takes for
Flash development in general. In other words, How much developement
time does it take to do one minute of flash animation. For example,
with video and motion graphics, it's one hour of editing time to
accomplish one minute of edited video.
Is there a similiar industry standard for Flash development?
Obviously, there are variations in the how robust the
animations are, how interactive they are, and how complicated the
code is...but I'm really just looking for a general rule of thumb
    for professional Flash developement..
Anyone know?... or know a good place to find this
    info?

I appreciate your willingness to respond but I find it hard
to belive that a standard does not exist. As a multimedia developer
at a high profile corporation, I have been asked for this
    information....and I gurantee that if I have been asked....others
at large companies have been asked also.
can anyone that works in the industry share their own
guidelines based on personal experience? I have my own SWAG for the
amount of time it takes indivdualy for custom animations,
interactivies, and games...but would like to compare that to other
    estimates.
Maybe it's better to ask for a Multimedia developemnt
standard instead of a Flash development standard.

  • Industry Standards for the Retail Industry

I want to know " SAP recommends which of these Industry Standards for the Retail Industry?
    1.GS1
    2.ANSI ASC X12
    3.eCOM
    4.GSMP
    5.EPCglobal
    6.GDSN
    7.GCI
    8.VICS

SAP has avoided making any recommendations. I specifically asked one of their architects a similar question a couple of weeks ago.
In general the X12 and EDIFACT standards are king within the retail industry. Within the United States X12 has been the default standard for many years and is used by all the giants. Within the European Union EDIFACT is the default standard and is used by the vast majority of retailers. However the UK has a standard which is called Tradacoms. In my experience UK retailers have, when pushed, also offered EDIFACT messaging. It should be noted that these formats are not XML. However many XML convertors exist for them. X12, EDIFACT and Tradacoms are what are commonly referred to as Traditional EDI.
The GS1 standard called eCOM is being increasingly adopted. I do know that Accenture and CapGemini have recently been heavily involved in promoting GS1 and eCOM. This is because eCOM standard is realistically the most heavily backed replacement for the Traditional EDI standards. The several of the largest US and European retailers and manufactures are now throwing their weight behind eCOM.

  • Industry standard for database backup time

We have many databases in our company for which our Database backups are forced to be run by System Administrators at 3PM since their tape backups are starting from 4PM.
As a DBA I am suggesting to run all the tape backups late night so that I can schedule my Database bacukps at atleast 10PM daily.
What is the industry standard for running daily database backups time? Can somebody please provide some links for such standards from a authorising body like Gartner, etc?
    Thanks in advance.

There is no such standard. To have one would be simply implausible.
It would depend massively on your infrastructure and where you take backups to. If it's tape, how fast is your networking to the tape, how fast is your tape drive. If it's disk, how fast is the disk you're backing it up to. For both, it depends on the size of the database, what type of backup you're taking and how loaded your database is, how fast your servers are. There are too many variables.
Only you will know how fast your backups take and whether they're taking longer than they should (based on your observations on how long they usually take).

  • Industry standard for packaging midlets?

I am somewhat new to Midlets and have created some basic midlet's but I am wondering what the traditional way of shipping out a midlet would be?
Should I merely stick it all in a jar/jad?
Or is there some other technique that might include a JVM (such as IBM J9)? Is there some kind of Industry standard for this?

  • What is the industry standard for body copy text size?

11pt? Using a brochure for an example. I know it depends on the font but if we were going just standard what would the recommendation be?
Also include a too small reference as well. Thanks!

I don't think there would be an "industry standard."
As an example, I work at a large advertising company with hundreds of employees. Body copy must be 10-point or larger; this has been set by the man in charge. If you want to make it smaller, he has to approve it. The reasoning being that if the dimensions of the piece are that small, the copy should just be rewritten. That said, the type size can be changed smaller if the font used is still legible enough.
And small type? For "legal" text, the lawyers have said it can be any size. Just by being there it's meeting legal requirements.

  • Industry standard for CNC script?

    Dear All,
Is there some kind of industry standard on "CNC-type motion control script".
Basically, the user script will be lines of text
    Each line is    OP-CODE    Parameter0   Parameter1 ...
    Like        MOVE_TO 123.45 345.67
and our software will parse the text and generate the corresponding command for the NI motion controller card.
e.g. the user-entered parameter 123.45mm will be converted to number of pulses.
Some poster mentioned G-Code, what is that?

    Hey John_,
I would recommend that you check out the following discussion forum posts:
    - How to use CNC G-CODES and M-CODES in LabVIEW
    - Has anybody used motion control card like a CNC contol with G-codes with part program editor?
    - can you send me the gcode interpretor for the pci-7334,7344.. thanks
These are just a few threads that discuss what you are asking about, but there are a few more out there if you do a search on "CNC Motion"
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • Calling AIF for Value Mapping from standard ES

    Hello All,
Is there any option of using SAP AIF for standard ES (for adding value mapping). We have requirement where value mapping needs to be done for standard ES. I was thinking of making explicit call to AIF using following method :
    * Call method to AIF
         /aif/cl_enabler_proxy=>process_message(
         exporting  is_input = input
          iv_exception_classname = ' ' ).
However this method doesn't have any exporting parameter to get the changed data back.
    Is there any workaround ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dijesh Tanna

    Hello Gita,
Both these notes talks about monitoring the existing interfaces / ES using SAP AIF. However, doesn't talk about enhancing existing ES.
Secondly , I had look at function module /AIF/FILE_PROCESS_DATA. However, question is from where we should call this. I was aiming the EXECUTE_ASYNCHRONOUS method of ES and calling this FM from implicit enhancement spot. However, the structure INPUT inside EXECUTE_ASYNCHRONOUS is not changeable. So even if AIF performs value mapping , I can't pass that modified data to standard implementation of SAP ES.
Have a look at below code :
You can see that I passed INPUT to my custom function module which calls AIF internally and performs value mapping , checks etc.. and return the modified data in OUTPUT but SAP's standard code is still using INPUT in subsequent code. I can't assign OUTPUT to INPUT as it is import parameter not changeable.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Value Maps for Collections in Archiver missing some fields

    Hi all,
I'm using Archiver and I need to map some of my folder metadata like the profile trigger but when I'm at the "Edit Value Maps" to map the old value to the new value for this field I find that the field I want is missing (in fact all fields that start with ColMeta. are missing.. something tells me these are the fields that are custom).
It does not let me do a custom query either! is there any way I can get this to work?
This field does appear for Content tho, it's just for folder/project metadata.
I'm looking into doing a "Field Map" from ColMeta.xProfileTrigger to some field available and then use that field for the value map but I'm not sure of the implications this will have in the field I choose since those others are fields used for something else and I don't want my mapping going to that other field.
    Thanks for any help,
    malky

Well nevermind I solved it, but I'll say how in case someone has the same problem:
Just create the archive with any field, then go and replace that field with the one you want everywhere in the archive.hda file.
If someone has a more elegant or better way to do this I'd like to hear it for future reference.
    Cheers,

  • Value Mapping Replication for Mass Data - Performance Issues

    Hi All,
We are looking into Value Mapping Replication for Mass Data. We have done this for less number of fields.
Now we might have to have 15,000 records in the cache for the Value Mapping. I am not sure how this would effect the Java Cache and Java Engine as a whole.
There might be a situation where we will have to leave the 15K records in the cache table on Java Engine...
Are there any parameters that we can look into just to see how this hits the performance.
Any links/ guidance in the right direction might help me..

Check jins reply in this thread (they have done with API and without API using graphical but still some issues):

  • Industry Standard documentation for Technical Information related to Netweaver Portals

    Hi.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I want to create documentation related to our Netweaver Portals, but I want the documentation to be based on Industry Standards related to Netweaver Portals.
Information which I will include in this document, will include the following, but not limited to:
    Naming Conventions
    Folder Logic
Roles (How to create and use them)
    Pages
    Worksets
    iViews
    etc..
Does someone know of a template which I can use and alter to fit my requirements?

    Hi Juandre,
There is not such template called Industry standard for NW portals.
Each firm have there own format and contents required by them .Objective of such documentation is to cover all the data points which can enable Technical support to provide necessary support for Portal environments.
Normally we include System landscape, URL details, OS details, Hardware details, DB details, SAP Portal technical details like version and patch level.
    Business point of contacts,
SOP to start and stop systems
    Known problems and resolutions
You may work out template based on above inputs.
    Hope this helps.

There is no standard time as this depends on many factors (business working hours, scheduled concurrent programs, activities on the system, whether you have global offices with different timings, ..etc). For most companies, I believe the best time to take a backup is when there are less activity on the system (which is usually late at night).
The question is, what type of backup you do? If it is an offline backup, and you are not affected by any of the above factors, then you should be OK to run it whenever it is suitable for you. If you use an online backup, you could simply keep the application/database running and take a backup.

  • Value mapping : target value need to be blank

    Hi,
I have a requirement like below (just example).
    Source                        Target
    A                                 Z
    B                                 Y
    C                                 X
    N                                 BLANK or ""
When I did this using value mapping it works fine for all values except for source value 'N'.
When the source is N then the target should have value space or blank. Is this not supported by value mapping?
For value N, do i have to explicitly check 'if value N then make it blank'?

    > For source value N I am getting target as N though in value mapping I have mentioned the target as blank.
This is standard behavior of value mapping when any value is not present in value mapping table then it return the input value as it is. So this means when you declare N with a bank value as result then value mapping won't consider it as an valid entry in the value mapping table. So now you have to take care of N explicitly.

  • How create a Value Mapping Table in XI 3.0?

    Hi:
I wish make a single sample scenario where receiving data must be converted according to convertion table:
      01 -
           Legacy A | Legacy B  -
    M
                 Male:              01     |    M
                 Female:            02     |    F
And I don´t know how build it. Must I create anything in Integration Repository? (any special message mapping or function?).
Anyone know about weblog where explain step by step for "value mapping group" and "value mapping tables" creation?
    Help me please.
    Regards!!
    David.

    Hi David,
You can create value mapping tables in Integration Directory.
First you have to create Value mapping group using menu Object>new>Value mapping Group
to Display value mapping you have to use Tools--> Value mapping.
Also refer to following link on help.sap.com
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/13/ba20dd7beb14438bc7b04b5b6ca300/content.htm
In IR Graphical mapping tool, use the standard function Conversions-->Value mapping.
    Hope this helps.
