Ineffective Multicam Audio Sync in PPro CC (PluralEyes wins every time)

I was excited to try the multicam sync using audio in Premiere CC but unfortunately I've found that it has very limited success. I regularly run shoots of 4 cameras with each having several clips, and when I try to sync them in Premiere only a few actually get syncronized. PluralEyes still does a markedly better job and sync all the clips, not just a few. Any tips or tricks I'm missing?

For starters, PP will only sync one clip per track, so if you wish to use this feature, you'll need to shoot continuously, no stopping until the event is over.
Secondly, the feature doesn't seem to work very well (at all?) when including a separate audio track in the mix, so use video clips only.
Thirdly, it is a new feature for Premiere Pro, and will likely get better over time.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

Then i try and plug it into my pc with iTunes on (i've set it to do not automatically sync devices) but it still freezes every time. the only way to unfreeze it is by detatching the ipod or resetting with menu/centre (until it loads up again, where it immediately unfreezes and comes up with a load of messages saying "cannot read iPod" and when i try and restore it by pressing menu/centre button while it's plugged in, it says "cannot restore as it is being used by another program" or "error 1415". Any ideas how to sort this out? hope i haven't majorly screwed it up. thanks.

Sorted it out. Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Premiere CC Multicam Audio sync

New user of Pr CC with limited previous editing experience. Attempting to audio sync 2 clips that I have edited to the same time frame. It is mainly talking. When I try to sync using the audio function camera 2 is about 5 seconds behind c1. When I attempt to mark the clips to the correct visual spot the marked clip options is not selectable.
Could someone point me in the correct direction to enable the audio sync to work right or to be able to select the marked sync function. Would it work to put a distinct noise in the audio at the correct location?
My head is getting sore from the various ways I have tried.

Multicam Audio Sync Premiere CC MXF clips fails everytime!

Hi,
Premiere CC cannot audio sync MXF clips (from two Canon XF100s). It fails everytime and just places all clips concurrently from their start. No syncing occurs.
Is this a known bug?

Unfortunately, no audio syncing occurred with multi-cam on 2 different formats (MPG and MP4). I did find out how to view the multi-cam sequence though.... You need to have the track with the multi-cam sequence selected. If it's not selected, the preview window is blank.
But Premiere still can't sync audio with all formats I've tried.

Firefox Sync alerts "Incorrect password or username" every time it starts.

Every time I start Firefox, I get the following error message from Sync:
"Sync encountered an error while connecting:Incorrect account name or password. Please try again. [Preferences]"
In my about:log-sync, these lines appear:

Sync.Service DEBUG Not syncing: login returned false.</pre>

Turns out that my Sync password was not correctly saved in Firefox.
When I looked at my password saved in my Firefox profile (Options -> Security -> Saved passwords -> Show passwords) , some characters were different than the one I entered when I set up my account. For instance, there was an "©" instead of a "(".
I solved by it changing my password and using only "a-z" "A-Z" "0-9" characters.

How do I supress the "sync encountered an error while syncing" bar? I get it every time I connect to a work VPN that is isolated from the internet.

Background: For work I routinely need to connect to a secure VPN that is completely isolated from the internet. When using it, I can only connect to the servers that reside within the network and the VPN software (Cisco AnyConnect + NAC Agent) seems to automatically redirect all http requests to external sites to a catch-all 'sorry you can't do that' page.
So while connected to the VPN, Firefox Sync doesn't work and nor do I expect it to. However, my issue is that every time I connect to the VPN, Firefox silently pops up a "sync encountered an error while syncing" error message bar at the bottom of the browser, which I have to manually close. This obviously isn't the end of the world, but having to do it all the time gets annoying so I was wondering if there was a way of suppressing that particular error message or maybe getting Sync to handle the secure VPN more gracefully.

I don't know about blocking that message, but my suggestion is to turn Sync autoconnect off, and use Sync manually.
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
Then type '''''autoconnect''''' in the Search bar at the top. <br />
'''services.sync.autoconnect''' = double-click that pref to toggle it to '''false'''.
Then to trigger a Sync manually, hit '''Sync Now''' in the Firefox menu ''(or the File menu)''.

Audio MIDI Setup quits unexpectedly on startup every time I run it

Help, I have an almost brand-new Mac Mini (2011), that I just got a few weeks ago. I'm setting it up to be a home media server -- i.e. to output to my HDMI receiver.
I need to use Audio MIDI Setup to create a new package that will output to both the audio out jack and HDMI at the same time.
But every time I open Audio MIDI Setup, the window pops open and before I take any action whatsoever the application quits unexpectedly.
Help! I don't know what to do to get it to work.

Thanks for the reply. it got me halfway there. Now it will open for the audio side, but still crashes as soon as I switch to Midi.
There were no Midi configs in my library, but there's a folder full of them in the main Library. Most of the files in there I don't care about, but there are several that I don't want to lose. Should i trash the folder and then re-install the ones I want?

Multicam Audio Sync Open in Timeline

Hi everyone. I will try to keep this simple.
I have a 2 camera setup, each with audio plus one external audio track. (3 total audio tracks)
When I create a multicam source sequence I sync via audio. I then open the source sequence in the timeline to make sync adjustments. However, it only plays back audio from Track 1. When I place this source sequence on a multicam Target sequence, I get all of the audio tracks to play.
My question is "Can I not get all of the audio tracks to play when I click "Open in Timeline"?"
I've been reading on this all day and can't seem to get anywhere.

If you want all audio at once, after you multi cam audio, you'll have to alt\opt+leftclick+drag the audio down below the master to duplicate it (do this once for every Camera). You then do the alt\opt+rightclick, go to multi cam and select a different camera for each of the tracks. Now all audio will play.
NOTE: With one track you can cut through with razor, and switch cams where you cut. If you cut your multi cam the automatic style, cuts will be made in audio track as well, that line up with video switch. You can adjust these edit marks to your desire the same way you would when using trim or roll, and you could switch Cameras from the alt\opt+rightclick menu. Using automatic mode to cut video, you will cut all LINKED audio at the same point. You can apply this to multiple tracks by linking them all to the video track before you start your camswitching. Afterward, you could adjust, delete, trim, roll and switch through your audio to your hearts content.

Multicam audio sync problem

I have three MiniDV tapes that I put together into a multicam shot. About 15 minutes into the video the audio slips - it begins to lag behind the video. I am only using one of the audio lines. The video and the audio appear to be in sync for the entire hour of the multicam shots in clip window. I tried taking 15 minutes as one clip, then another 15 minutes, and so to let it resync, but it starts slipping right away.
Any suggestions?

When using the multicam, any recommendations on keeping the audio lined up with the video? Would it help to separate the audio from the video and mute the multicam?

PPro CS4 crashes on every time I try to make a change to my project!! HELP!!!!!!!

This is a new thing, so far PPro hasn't been giving me any type of problem, but I was working on a project which I almost finished editing. Here is some information:
* The project includes titles, a .gif logo runnning throughout the 5 minutes video and video transitions.. no color corrections.
* My computer runs on AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+, 2.40 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 32-bit OS, Windows Vista Service Pack 1. Video card is NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT.
* Premiere Pro version CS4 4.2.1
* Crash details which I think is most important: <crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" instruction="0x1f0b4df9">
And it goes on and on but i'm pretty sure all the information can be found here..
What can I do??????

Often, when one receives and Access Violation for a memory address, some program has not reported its memory addresses correctly to the OS, or has told the OS that it has released that address, when it has not.
The two things that would recommend at this point would be to use the tips in this ARTICLE to see if you can find what is going on at the time of the crash. Then, look into Process Explorer (it and other tools can be found HERE). Also, take a look at this ARTICLE on setting up your system for an editing session.

My iPod touch won't sync, update anything & my iTunes freezes every time its connected

Evening,
I went to upgrade my iTouch after finding I couldn't get an app because I didn't have the latest software. When I connected it at first it said my iTouch was unresponsive. This happened a few times till I I read online to restart my iPod and everything. So I did that and checked that I had the latest iTunes and it finally sync'd. Now it has been saying verifying iPod touch for an hour and iTunes has frozen.
Very frustrating because there is so much information but none of it is working for me.

ITunes freezes every time I sync!

I'm trying to sync my new iPhone 4, but every time I plug it in, iTunes freezes and stops responding. It always freezes in the beginning of Step 2 of 6 (backing up). I don't know what to do and can't sync my phone! I'm using a PC, by the way. How can I fix this?

Yet again - audio sync

I've search for audio sync - but haven't seen the solution, so I'm posting a request.
On my CS5.0.3 system, any time I use Media Encoder to produce an MPEG2 HD file with MPEG II audio, the audio is exactly 3 frames behind the video. It can be from a sequence or a straight trancode of a file. If I use Dolby encoding, it is exactly right.
I can repeat on demand. I wouldn't think its a system setup issue, but who knows?
Any similiar experience out there?

Tried your suggestion as amn MPEG TS straight from PPRO but no difference.
I am mux'ing as MPEG.
I'm now using a work around of AC3 (Dolby) rather than MPEG audio, which seems just fine.
(My workflow includes exporting at high bitrate intermediate file (100Mbps) before encoding for Bluray and DVD outside of adobe.)
