Inelgible for Icloud

Okay so I have spent the last week searching thru fixes to this issue and have not found any. I have a handful of songs and videos that will not upload to Icloud, I get the message "this item is inelgible for icloud". These have all been purchased thru Itunes under a different Itunes ID but yet over 750 other songs I downloaded under that same ID uploaded just fine. I stopped using that ID last year and now use a different one.
I have tried to create a AAC version but i get the message "protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I have tried to delete out of my library and in the folder on the hard drive create a mp3 version of the song but it will not upload.
Any suggestions ??

So I keep getting replies from people that state music isnt stored in the cloud ? Okay then why is it everywhere you read on Apple site that states music in the cloud ? Why when I right click on a song it states "add to cloud" The cloud is a server, we all get it. Its not an imaginary fluffy cloud floating around in the sky with all my data, duh...but stop repsonding to me like your helping me stating that music is not stored in the cloud. It clearly states to upload to iCloud.
So if you can not help me with this do not respond unless you really know what your talking about.
I get an email from someone last night responding to this string, but yet it does not show up here stating the same thing. Do you not read Apple's web site ? Have you not clicked on the Match tab in iTunes and see the statement your iTunes library is now availabe in iCloud then right underneath it states X amount of songs are now available in iCloud.

You mean iTunes, iCloud does not store your music.
Ineligible item include protected items, songs that have a low sampling rate (96K or less) songs that are over 200MB, I'll find the complete list and post it here.

    If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Currently our family has several apple devices and they have the same apple ID for itunes and it is the same ID that we use for icloud. I want to set up a separate icloud ID so that it is only on my new device. I still want to keep the same apple ID for purchases. Can I do this and better yet when do I do this...before the purchase, after the purchase and backing up of data. Where do I go to create a new one?

    About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone.  Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc.  This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

  • Some playlists and/or songs "not eligible for iCloud"

    I have a playlist that contains only music but iTunes Match refuses to upload it, saying it contains "other media types".
    Having thoroughly gone through the contents of the playlist, I have found one song, a Frank Sinatra .mp3 ripped from a CD I own, that is listed as "not eligible for iCloud", as well as 4 songs marked by iCloud as "duplicates"
    I have tried manually adding the Frank song to iCloud but its status remains unchanged.
    The song, in mono, is a 733K MP3
    I had to convert it to AAC which nearly quadrupled the size of the file to 3.2 MB and now it's uploaded...
    However the status of the playlist remained unchanged until I also removed the "duplicates"
    a) iCloud should nevertheless sync playlists, minus the ineligible tracks
    b) or you should get a warning that it won't sync the playlist, and better error reporting so you can actually understand what the issue is, as opposed to the usually vague "iCloud doesn't like your track, but won't tell you why" message...
    c) duplicate tracks in playlists should automatically (or after a prompt) be replaced by the original track that is in iCloud.
    iTunes Match, you have wasted many hours of my time despite my well organized and healthy library.

    I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access.     You have to first create your account on an Apple device.  You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID.  You can only sign into an existing iCloud account on a PC.  You first have to create your iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

    I already quoted the minimum requirements, look in the post before yours.
    You will have to upgrade your Mac to at least 10.7.5, upgrades are not free, you buy them from the App Store. Mountain Lion is the best but your Mac must be compatible.
    Here is a list of compatible machines.
    Also note that some older apps (Office 2004, Appleworks) will not run on Mountain Lion.

    I had this same issue and got it resolved very simply when I contacted Apple SUpport
    Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and sign into your infomation
    > Go to Manage apple id and primary email address
    > Change it to the old apple id that your device is asking for
    > Save changes
    > Go to Settings > iCloud and sign out of the infomation
    > Go back to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
    > Change it back to the correct apple id
    > Go to the email address adn reverify the apple id
    > Sign back into iCloud on your device
    > Smile

  • I changed my apple id email address to try jumpstart my account to send me a verification email for iCloud activation.  It worked but now I cannot change back to my original email address.  It says its in use.

    Hi Guys
    I am writing this on behalf of a friend of mine.  To understand my issue let me explain how it started.  My friend has a apple ID with email address (lets call it) [email protected]  when activating iCloud on her iPhone a email was sent to verify her account.  This was not done and rendered the iCloud feature disabled due to not being activated.  [email protected] is the correct email address and works.  A form of troubleshooting I used the iForgot service to test if the email address was correct and mail flow from apple was working and it worked fine.
    I logged into apple id to manage account and resend activation email for iCloud.  this did not send the mail.  I waited 48hrs but to no avail.
    I decided to kickstart the account to force it to send to another email address by changing the primary email address from [email protected] to [email protected]  it worked and I verified the address and iCloud is now active.  However now I cannot change the primary email address back to [email protected] as it says its being used by another apple ID. 
    I then tried iForgot with the [email protected] email address, it says it sent a email to [email protected] but nothing arrived in [email protected] or [email protected]
    I have this feeling the [email protected] is stuck I'm memory on my apple ID some how but can't get it to forget [email protected] so that I can use it as my primary email address again.
    I have tried to log into iTunes with my original details [email protected] and password but says its incorrect.
    any advices in this would be greatly appreciated.

    The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

    Thank you Roger, your solution gave me the courage to sign out of Systems Preferences.  The pop up told me it was going to delete my contact and other information from my mac, so I was hesitant to do that.  Well I did as you directed and I was able to sign in with my new apple id and I did not lose the information the pop up threatened I was going to.  So again thank you.  It is the little things that make a big difference sometimes.

    To change iCloud accounts you have to go to Settings>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with your other ID to create your new account.  If you want to migrate a copy of the iCloud data to the new account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save Image.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Keep on My iPhone and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted.  Then sign back in with your new Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload the data to your new account.  Once you are on a separate account you can go to iCloud.com and delete your husband's data from your account (and he can do the same with yours).
    Just be aware that the current @icloud.com email address cannot be moved to the new account, nor can the current my photo stream album (which is why you need to save any my photo stream photos you want to keep to your iPhone before signing out of the existing account).
