Inetpp.dll question? (Software conflict?)

Wondering if someone can shed some light on this issue.
We are running Windows 7ProSP1_x64, and iPrint 5.90 on OES11SP1. We have the iPrint client installed on the clients.
We also run LanSchool (Classroom Management, Monitoring, and Corporate Training Software | LanSchool), classroom management software.
After a few months of trying to diagnose a connectivity issue, I believe I may have found a problem.
In the Client Registry, I see this:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Provid ers\Internet Print Provider
Name = "inetpp.dll"
When I install iPrint client (nipp.exe), this value is changed to
Name = "inetpp.dll.INACTIVE"
and a new key is created
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Provid ers\Novell iPrint Services\...
Now, when I boot, I see an error in the Event log each time, about how the "Print Spooler failed to load print provider inetpp.dll.INACTIVE"
This has been happening for as long as I can remember, and while it's probably deadweight slowing down the boot time, it hasn't affected me.
Now, after much trial and error, I have isolated iPrint and the above "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Provi ders\Internet Print Provider\.." registry entry as a possible cause of the problem.
When I rename Name to inetpp.dll, or if I delete the entire "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Provi ders\Internet Print Provider" key, Lanschool begins to work. When I revert the registry and reboot, the problem arises again.
I am about to contact LanSchool for comment, but my question is, is there a reason iPrint installation renames this key? I can only assume it is so an iPrint Client uninstall (nipp-u.exe) can rename it back to original pre-iPrint state (I have verified this is what happens).
Can anyone comment on the impact of changes around this registry key?

Hi,
inetpp.dll is a Microsoft Windows System DLL. It belongs to the MS Internet Printing Provider.
Novell replaces this with the Novell IPP Provider and renames the registry entry to inetpp.INACTIVE rather than deleting the registry entry.
So if your Software depends on the MS Internet Printing Provider you should check out if iprint still works fine even if you reactivate the ms ipp again.
Otherwise, if your Software works also fine after deleting the MS Internet Print Provider key, I would suggest to do this.

Upgrading to 10.3 or 10.4-software conflicts?
I have a Power PC G4 (Dual 867 MHz Processor). Running Classic 9.2 and OSX 10.2.8. I'm looking at the pros and cons of upgrading to 10.3 or 10.4. And I want to minimize upgrade purchases and conflicts for my existing software.
Any known software conflicts with OS X 10.3 or 10.4 and older Adobe products? I'm using Photoshop 7.0, Illustrator 10. I'm also using Dreamweaver MX 2004, Microsoft Office 2004, Quark Xpress (am upgrading to 6).
Also, what's the best browser and email program to use with 10.3 or 10.4?

Dual 867 MHz ProcessorPC G4Is there a particular reason you need to update? Do you use your computer and software in conjunction with a business or job? In the case of the latter you should never upgrade when you depend upon mission critical software or hardware until you have verified compatibility.
In your case you should contact the individual software developers/companies and inquire about version compatibility with different versions of OS X. Sometimes you can find this out by visiting their respective websites and reading the System Requirements information. You can also use the resources at www.versiontracker.com to find out about OS X version compatibility for your various titles.

Personally if you are planning to upgrade I would upgrade to Tiger because it is current. However, before upgrading I would plan to make a bootable backup of your current system to an external Firewire drive. In case you have any problems or change your mind you can always restore the backup. To make a bootable backup you will need an external Firewire drive equal to or greater in size than your internal hard drive. You wil need to download Carbon Copy Cloner from www.versiontracker.com and install it. Carefully read the documentation for CCC to learn how to use it properly to make a bootable clone. After you make your clone test it by trying to boot the computer with it.
In my opinion the best browsers for OS X are Safari and OmniWeb. The best email application is Entourage (part of Office X 2004) or Power Mail. However, you will not find much consensus on either of these applications. Everyone has their opinion. The best suggestion is try them all out and see which ones you like best. Trial versions can be found at www.versiontracker.com for the shareware or commercial products. -

After Stopping it and Restarting and it is still not reconizing your device Then start uninstalling
Start with: Itunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device.
I had an issue uninstalling Apple Software Update, and was unable to get it off my computer.
But after all that download and reinstall itunes.
After doing all that i was able to get mine to show up in itunes

my canon video camera (HV20) wasnt being recognised by iMovie (error message...in system report was "Unable to list FireWire devices".)
in researching a solution i came across some firewire advice in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1151#trouble which suggests there may be a "software conflict between the device and something in your original user account."
i changed to another account on my iMac and my camera connected immediately.
is anybody able to explain how i go about fixing this "software conflict".

CarloWith the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
The Outbox.mbox represents "Out" in the mailboxes drawer and is shared by all accounts.
Delete the Outbox.mbox and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the Mailboxes folder and this should resolve the problem. -
MacBook Browser not working?: Dongle Software Conflict
I'm posting this to help anyone who may experience the same frustrating problem I've had. My Browser would occassionally stop working and not allow a page to open, for no obvious reason. WiFi settings etc fine. I could'nt find the problem, or anything similar posted on the User forums. I tried everything including clearing the cache settings etc. In search of help I took my MacBook down to my local Apple store who found the solution in a few minutes.
My old "Pay as You Go" Huwaei Dongle (o2 Network) was the cause of the problem. It was creating a software conflict in the Browser settings. Apparently this is a common problem with this type of Dongle. I ironically no longer use the Dongle but it was still registered. I currently use my iPhone 4s as a Dongle tethered to the MacBook when I'm travelling and it works brilliantly. Hope this helps someone else to find a solutoion to a similar problem.Make sure that you received internet settings correctly from your operator.
In configuration settings make sure that it is activated for all applications.

Software conflict between iPhoto and Sony MP3 player
I am experiencing a major software conflict between iPhoto and my Sony MP3 player (model: NWZ-E443). In the past, whenever I connect the MP3 to my 2009 MacBook Pro, iPhoto always opened. I would simply close iPhoto and everything would be OK, though. But after upgrading iPhoto a few months ago via an upgrade download I am now unable to view images full-screen. Although thumbnails display OK, when I double-click on any of them to display full-screen, the MP3's 'Do Not Disconnect' image displays full-screen instead, even when the MP3 is not connected.
I have tried reinstalling iPhoto from the original iLife disc, but this didn't work and my fear is that the Sony software has somehow corrupted every image single file in my library.Turns out my Mac put code on the mp3 player because after I reset the mp3 player to its 'factory settings', (erasing everything) it went back to normal and now shows up in the finder window.

FCP 5.03 won't launch/software conflicts with Avid?
Hi,
I just purchased FCP Studio and a new dual 2.3 G5. Installation ran fine. All other apps open (ie: soundtrack, dvd studio, motion, compressor, etc.).
When I try to open FCP 5.03, it starts to open - anotherwords the rectangular box with FCP and my name and the serial number comes up like it's going to launch, but then the box goes away and no application. The finder then becomes active.
I'm running on and OS 10.4.2 and QT 7.0.1 and would rather not go to 10.4.3 or a higher version of QT as I need this OS and QT for my Avid Xpress application. Plus I do not suspect that the OS or QT version is the problem, as we know FCP has launched on OS 10.4.2 and QT 7.0.1. All other software is up to date.
Possibly there are software conflicts with Avid? The only other software I have installed on this machine is that which was packaged with Avid Xpress Pro v.4.8.1 which is as follows:

Powermac G5 2.3 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.2) 4.5 GB RAM 2x500 GB HDsI've run 4.5 and Avid Express on the same system. And 5.0.3 (haven't cranked up the Avid software since installing 5.0.3). My first suspect would be some kind of Audio plugin.
Use the Console program to inspect the logs. You might learn something that way. (/Applications/Utilities/Console).

How to Find Software Conflicts?
After migrating everything from G5 Mac to new Mac Mini, the formatting functions in Mail have not worked (keyboard shortcuts for Bold, Italic, Underline). I have run all software updaters including the recent 10.6.7 combo updater to make sure I have the current versions of everything installed.
I've done several tests:
•In my regular account, reboot into "Safe Mode" (restart with S key down) and Mail works fine. Reboot back into "regular mode," problems with Mail return.
•Create a new "Test Account" and open Mail: In "regular boot mode" Mail has problems; in rebooted "Safe Mode" Mail works fine.
So in either account, Mail works fine when in "Safe Mode," doesn't work correctly in regular mode. So I am assuming there is some software conflict when I am in regular operating mode.
If Mail works fine in Safe Boot Mode, but not in regular mode, how do I go about finding what software is conflicting with Mail? In old OS 9 days, we could restart with extensions and control panels disabled and add them back one at a time to find conflicts. But since working in OSX I have never seen reference to any such process.
(I have also disabled all "Log In" apps so nothing is running when I boot the computer. With no other programs running, Mail misfires -- so I'm assuming it's conflicting with something else.)
Any help on isolating software conflicts would be much appreciated.There was very little in those folders -- a few files related to old software. I tossed everything, restarting and testing Mail as I went -- made no difference. Only one file left in USER>LIBRARY>LAUNCHAGENTS: [email protected].plist
Now nothing in the other folders.
When I first started working this problem a few days ago, command-I and command-B when composing mail would not work. Now, those two commands will produce italic/bold text when composing mail, but they won't revert to plain text when using keyboard commands (command-i/b). Again, all works normally when in "Save Mode" startup.

IPod Touch not Synchronising/New Software Uploads-A/V Software Conflict
Hi,
I've been following the threads relating to the iPod Touch not being recognised (after having dealt with Windows thinking it was a Camera!!). One issue brough to my attention by the Apple Support Team when downloading any new software is a potential conflict with Anti Virus software and firewalls.
I had previously gone through the loop of uninstalling/reinstalling Quicktime, iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service etc etc.
In my case, when I connected the iPod, iTunes was coming up with a message saying "iPod detected in recovery mode", which then required me to do an updated software download. When running this, it appeared to complete the download, but the iPod remained with the "connection" screen (USB connector and iTunes symbol), as indeed it did again tonight.
I spoke with the Apple Support Team again tonight, and was advised to try disabling my anti virus software and firewall as he suggested that given the long time it takes to download the iPod software update, the AV software may be causing the problem.
This I did, and after having been advised last night to set up a new account, switched to this account, started iTunes, the Touch then went into software upload "mode" and eventually completed and appeared in the devices!!
So that's my problem resolved, but hopefully the advice I received may be of assistance to others struggling with connectivity issues.

Software Conflict between HP G4050 scanner and HP Officejet Pro L7700 all-in-one
I have a Sony Vaio pc, OS Windows 7 HmEd 64-bit (updated), using Norton 360 (updated).
My pc and a Mac are both connected wirelessly to the Officejet Pro L7700. My pc is connected to the G4050 with a USB cable, as the G4050 does not have wireless capability.
The conflict is: (I initially had L7700 installed on my pc, and all was well) After installing the G4050, all worked for a while, then I go to print/scan, and receive error message that neither machine can be found, (though both are installed). So, will uninstall and reinstall one or both machines. It works fine for a while then, then same thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times in a year. There is a conflict with the sofware of the 2 machines. All other software on my computer works fine, and if I'm using only one of the HP products all works fine - the conflict is the software for these 2 HP products TOGETHER.
1. Is it possible to successfully use both of these machines installed on a pc?
2. Do I need a patch, or how can I make this work?
Currently, I just have the L7700 installed and working great, but very soon I need to (again) install the portable G4050 to scan negatives and prints.
Please help! I love HP products. How can I get these 2 to work together? If not, what else can I do?

And, I am happy to help! According to this guide, Windows 10 Compatible Printers, both printers are compatible with Windows 10. So we will need to do some troubleshooting steps in order to get them to work. Some questions for you: To verify both printers hardware is functioning standalone, are you able to make copies using the scanner glass? Copying a Multipage Original.Do you see any error messages on the computer screen or any of the printers display screens? Hi, first time posting on the forum. I own a 2011 IMAC i5 with 12gb of ram 27 inch. Over the last five days the computer has been crashing and running very erratically. When the computer has crashed the entire computer has become unresponsive and frozen, requiring a reboot or two. At other times the computer has slowed way down and the dreaded spinning beachball has appeared and the computer takes its sweet time trying to process something. Iphoto has also crashed independently when the beahball will not disappear. THE entire system is running way below its usual stellar quad performance. I have run a ram test and everything has come back clean, I have fixed any broken permissions, and deleted any newly added software (starcraft2). There is over 250Gb of hard drive free and the activity monitor shows no unusual processes. The computer automatically updated it self recently to 10.8.1 has this caused a conflict with some software? Or is there a deeper problem?

Mindstorm software conflict "resource files not found"
Hi All,
my apologies if this is addressed elsew in the forum - searched but did not find any entries.
I am co-teaching a robotics class to middle school students (Lego FLL) and a class to the high school students using LabView 2009 + Lego kit. After installing the Labview environment I (as well as my co-teachers) can no longer run the Mindstorms software. THe error reported is bout resource files not found.
Co any one shed some light on how to have both environments co-exist on the same laptop?

Vashon Island (WA) USA.Hi there. Not a problem. This is probably a known conflict between MINDSTORMS 1.0 and LabVIEW. It can be fixed easily. Please see http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4B0C1BBDA9CFEBE7862573D0005D93C4
This might have also affected MINDSTORMS 1.1 but I can't recall.

Blackscreen cold start workaround and software conflict
I, too, have the black-screen on cold-reboot problem, and resetting the PRAM is the best solution I have found, save this one: when I start, I always choose my startup disk by holding down the [option] key during reboot. This lets me choose the windows partition, the mac partition or the external mac partition on my firewire drive (I replaced my hard drive within a week of purchase.) If this fails, and it does 5% of the time, resetting the PRAM multiple times always brings it back.
Initially, I had the problem when I took the Macbook in for the superdrive not accepting most disks issue, and the system failed to reboot at the Genius bar (if it's gonna happen, better it happens on their time, not mine.) After a week, a new logic board and a new optical drive, I can definitely say this is a firmware problem, not a hardware problem. I have done a complete reinstall of the OS, erasing windows, and the problem has not resurfaced since. I am pretty certain that the issue is in a firmware conflict between OSX and MS Windows. Since I only need to use Windows once a month for a specific task, I put my windows installation on a small (30 GB) SATA drive that lives in a desk drawer for 27 days a month. When I need to use it, I swap hard drives.
Windows seems to be causing the conflict here, because when I do have the black screen, if I [option] on startup and use the Windows installation, the machine works fine (except that it is running Windows). No PRAM reset is needed to use the Windows side of the machine.there are two different suggetions in the forum on how to fix this anoying problem. I tried both. dont know which one helped, but since I applied the "fix" two days ago, the problem has been absent.
What to do:
Fix 1) Start up from the original apple dvd (insert the dvd and hold down the "c" key under start up). When the loading is over - DONT START the software install but under tools choose start-up disk, and choose the hard disk system folder. Then simply choose restart.
Fix 2) In system preferences togle the screen settings away from the standard setting to some other setting, and then back again.
Voila.. so far it seems to work. The explanation is, that resetting the p-ram (optioncommand+pr) deletes some default preferences, that undortunately then are missing.

Another (hopefully) easy question. I searched, but couldn't find references to this so thought I would ask. I also checked the readmes, etc. that were in the folders.
What is the difference between bin\2.x\Oracle.DataAccess.dll and bin\4\Oracle.DataAccess.dll?
From what I can guess, the 2.x version is for all versions of .NET from 2.x - 3.x and the \4\ version is for .NET 4.x. Other than that, they appear to be the same.

JustMeYou are correct that the 2.x folder is for use with .NET 2 - 3.5, and the 4.x folder is for use with .NET 4.
Apart from .NET 4 support, there is no new functionality between the two.
Honestly, I don't know what specific differences there are between the two inside the dll, but the 4.x odp is 4k bigger than the 2.x dll.

Rio system software conflict resolution
I noticed the following Conflict Resolution report when trying to start running a LabVIEW 2012 application on an NI-9074 cRIO.
Errors were detected in the target log when connecting to the target:
LabVIEW: Failed to load shared library vxsntpc.out. Ensure that the library is present on the RT target. Use MAX to install NI software or FTP to transfer custom libraries to the RT target.
LabVIEW: Failed to load shared library niDiscSvc.out. Ensure that the library is present on the RT target. Use MAX to install NI software or FTP to transfer custom libraries to the RT target.
LabVIEW: Failed to load shared library niorbs.out. Ensure that the library is present on the RT target. Use MAX to install NI software or FTP to transfer custom libraries to the RT target.
Select "Apply" to ignore these errors and continue with deployment.
NI-MAX reports that the host has newer versions of some cRIO software components than are on the cRIO. I tried to update them using NI-MAX, but got a message that Network Variable Engine 12.0.0, Network Streams 1.2, System State Publisher 3.0.0, and Variable Client Support for LabVIEW RT 12.0.0 all require LogosXT 5.4.0. I'm not sure what this means.
Are the updates available on the host for LabVIEW 2013? How do I discover the components that load vxsntpc.out, niDiscSvc.out, and niorbs.out?

On Friday evening, per NI suggestion, I installed the latest system configuration. That did not eliminate the problem. On Monday morning, per NI suggestion, I reformattted the cRIO and reinstalled the system software. That fixed the problem.
