Inexcusable Score Bug

I upgraded to Logic 7.2, then to 7.2.3, and a consistant bug plagued me:
Any song opened in Score would have the Key Signature changed to Cb (from C). Although I needed the 7.2 Crossgrade to run Logic on my Macbook Pro, I was shocked during a recording session to find this out. I had tested a few songs to see if they would open, but never went into the score window before the session. My fatal mistake, and as an orchestrator for a large ensemble, this was frightening.
Such a major bug, repeated in every song, sometimes even if it was saved with a new key signature, re-inserted. I shudder to use Score in the MacBook Pro or to "upgrade' my G5 7.1 version.
Dual 2.0 ghz G5, Logic 7.1 G5/ Logic 7.2.3 Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thanks guys, more details: (Rohan, email didn't work)
Opened fine on the Macbook Pro, Audio Drivers off, since I only have 512 MB RAM right now. OSX 10.4.7
INTEL Logic 7.2 AND 7.2.3 repeated this bug, sometimes even after it was saved with a new key signature. New key sig. would have to be entered at bar 2, since I could not click on the Cb signature. Then I would enter C, it would be C#. The I'd go to the key sig list and set it to bar 1.
This bug happened with every file, 36 total repeats.
I look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when Logic's Score can replace Finale.
[I have a page of requests, that come from working in Hollywood film sessions, such as another bug, not related to this one:
Any song with a minus 1 or Zero bar music start moves notes. Caused an entire pasted region to move one beat off. ALSO, double bar lines create chaos, end bar lines disappear. My poor musicians have to count long multi-measure rests since I can't break them up with double bar lines that fit the song's structure. They miss entrances.]
I have many bugs that affect musicians trying to read and perform live music. These are the ones that are the priority to me.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE: Having the Macbook Pro on the recording stage, with score files, pdfs, silently running ready to print if needed via wifi, was a huge asset for me, and raised my comfort level and professionalism to a new high point. I'm sure this bug will be straightened out soon.

• Seeking advice on score "bug"/timer for a soccer game

I just completed my first FCP project, my daughter's soccer game. I wanted to emulate a professional sports broadcast, that has the score "bug" & timer at the top of the screen and a graphic for each goal scored, naming the goal maker and primary/secondary assists.
I finally got it to work, but there was a lot of manual/tedious effort. I was curious if any FCP pros might want to suggest more efficient way or better tools which would tighten up this process.
To product the bug, I created a file in photoshop and then scaled and moved it with the motion tab. I left the score areas and time area blank, just filling in the team names. This was in it's own track above the video. Then I created 2 text generators, 1 for the home score and 1 for the away score and co-located w/ the photoshop graphic each again in their own video track. Each time the score changed I had to duplicate tracks and resize the duration and change the text to reflect the goal.
I used "Counter Display" (http://web.mac.com/piero.fiorani/PieroFFCE_Effect/CounterDisplay.html) to display the "game time" co-locating it above its slot in the bug, in it's own video track.
Producing the goal graphic was similar, and resulted in 3 more video layers. Wow, this was so easy in iMovie and took so much longer in FCP, admittedly with infinite precision.
Is this the best way to do this? Is 9 video layers common for the duration of you video typical?
Thanks

Id suggest using a number of panels and a layout manager to help sort out the HUD and the display. Consider havaing a specific JPanel for the HUD and another JPanel fot the display and use somethig like a BorderLayout to place them on the frame.
So in the JFrame
JPanel hud = new JPanel();
JPanel mainDisplay = new JPanel();
this.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());
this.getContentPane().add(hud, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
this.getContentPane().add(mainDisplay, BorderLayout.NORTH);this will allow you to easily seperate the functionality of the two panels.
Id suggest to experiment with a few different layout managers till you can get the functionality you need. The best ones IMO are BoxLayout, FlowLayout, GridLayout and BorderLayout
Using JLabels will probable be the easiest way to go. To place Components anywhere onto a panel, i would suggest using the null layout and settong the bound pf the labes before adding them to the panel.
in the mainDisplay Panel
this.setLayout(null);
JLabel label = new JLabel();
label.setIcon(new ImageIcon("some image"));
label.setBounds(x,y,width,height);
this.add(label); There will be nothing stopping you from having the enemies as JLabels aswell as you can add any listeners onto JLabels. With buttons you might have an annoying border around them which you will not want.
Hope this helps

• 7.2 New Score Bug ?

Please could anyone confirm the following bug ?
when inserting chords in score window the TAB key does not work properly moving you to next bar or next note. The cursor moves but you cant insert the next chord. This was working fine in 7.1.1.
thx.

well, those of you who have seen my posts will know my feelings regarding score and logic.
but, as annoying as it is 7.2 was only ever meant to be a crossgrade (heard from horse mouth). apparantly there are a huge number of bugs fixed.
checking every single function in logic would be a pretty big job i would have thought. bugs will always slip through. adding loops is easy, fixing (some) bugs is not. so the bugs i think that were fixed will only be the ones that could be fixed easily as the priority was the port to a new code.
the grapevine also tells me that score is being looked at for renovation. until then i will happily remain with my hitherto unknown bugs in 7.1.1, cope with the known ones that i know haven't been addressed in 7.2, and keep my fingers crossed that they figure out how to fix the bugs we know about. the grapevine also tells me that the talented understaffed, overworked, under-appreciated, and possibly underpayed team that develop logic are on our side. they could solve a lot of moaning on the forum if they put up a FAQ trouble-shooting page acknowdging problems and their work-arounds.
can you try something with this score bug?
one of the things i have also heard is that we should completely rebuild our autoloads, leaving nothing left over or copied (apart from midi) from old pre 7 songs. that apparantly solves quite a few problems (to which i can attest)
if you hold down option and select new, can you test for the bug in the factory autoload?

• New Score Bugs in LOGIC 7.2.1

Hello everybody. Anyone experienced score bugs in new universal version? Specially when you insert some dynamics or articulations the tools menu becomes all messy! Rohan?
And what about "you don't have privileges" when trying to bounce as MP3 format.
thanx a lot.

Andre, what kind of plugins do you have? Also I noticed that you're in Brazil, are you using an English installed OS with Logic or did you use another language? I'm asking because this could be a font/localization problem specific to you.
Further if you have 'helper' apps, as I call them, like Quick Silver and other things like that, yank them out and see if things still happen with a clean base system install.

• Adobe Media Encoder CC constantly crashing during batch encodes

Hello!
We just made the big switch to Premiere Pro CC for our TV shows and now that it's time to finalize our first few episodes we are having some major problems batch exporting segments of the show. Sometimes it works, sometimes it works half way through the batch list then crashes, sometimes it crashes right away. There is no consistency, other than crashes are happening all the time. Here's what is happening:
• AME 7.2.0.43 (64-bit)
• Mac OS X 10.9.1 on 2x2.66 GHx 6-Core Intel Xeon, 40 GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
• Startup disk is SSD w/ 4GB free space (all footage is on external storage)
• Using Premiere Pro CC to export via AME.
• All recent updates insatlled as of 3/10/14.
The source footage is ProRes 422 720p 59.94 footage from AJA KiPros. Each project has 16 segments - these are individual sequences. There are 7 tracks of audio and 4-5 tracks of video in each. In addition to the video there are targa files that include the score bug, full screen graphics, etc (this is sports). There are also some Adoby Dynamic Link After Effects elements throughout.
Editing has been fairly crashless - however when I File > Export > Media and queue it up in AME, that's when the fun starts.
I can rarely get through an entire batch list - generally within a few files the preview window at the bottom shows that it has halted and nothing further will encode. There is no way to stop or close the program without force quitting. When I have tried to encode from Premiere Pro CC directly, it works, although it is much slower and will only do the one sequence at a time.
I have been trying to encode to two different formats from within AME:
1.) ProRes 422 720 59.94 (just like the source footage) with 4 channels of audio.
2.) ProRes 422 1080i29.97 with 4 channels of audio.
We have different broadcast partners so we need to deliver in these two difference specs. I get crashes regularly on both outputs.
Possibly unrelated but also weird - I've noticed that when AME starts this crashing cycle sometimes Premiere CC won't let me save anyome. The status bar comes up like it's going to save the project but it goes nowhere. I have to quit without saving. Weird.
Can anyone help me further troubleshoot? This is bordering near deal breaker to continue using this software if I have this much trouble when trying to get my project outputted. Thank you!

Agreed, I now have a project to GET OUT, and AME crashes consistently 1/3 into the render. It appears to halt all processing after (real time) 00:02:30
Am seriously considering uninstalling CC as I am beginning to find other issues in some apps, and going back to CS6/MC just so I can get work out. Durn it Adobe this is AWFUL!!
Alright, let's try to be constructive instead of throwing rocks... but the frustration level is high, and I have material on deadline. Let's get with this, guys...
What OS Win7, 64-bit
What version of AME/PPro (Please be specific by getting the full version number in the About Adobe Media Encoder screen) 8.2.0.54 Ppro: 8.2.0 (65)
When is it crashing (Again, the more detail here about where it was in the encoding process the better) roughly 1/3 into the sequence, always on exactly the same frame - tried replacing the clip with something different to see if it was a timeline error, and NO EFFECT.
What is your source (PPro project or media file (what kind?)) PPro
If the source if a PPro project, does it work when exporting directly from PPro? NO
What format are you exporting to? H.264, QT, WM, tried everything my client can play.
Do other formats work? MPEG2, QuickTime, etc? NO
Have you tried with GPU rendering on? How about turning it off by switching to Software-only mode? Mine doesn't have any choice, it's software-only.
Have you tried disabling Native Sequence Loading? (AME Preferences: General > Enable Native Sequence Loading) No effect
Other things I tried: uninstalling/reinstalling AME, setting cache to a fast local disk.

• Why are updates always problematic?

I'm a generally optimistic guy- when I see an update I imagine a better version of the product. But I'm being classically conditioned to now avoid these updates, because they have caused nothing but problems for me.  But why then would Adobe add features, yet make things that already work...stop working?
If it's not broken, don't break it! The latest version of Premiere pro CC A. loads the same initial audio file for each of my clips. and B. Now imports all clips "ungrouped" (I click a million times a day, I don't need any extra steps to an already tedious process). C. even if it all worked, it won't export to Media Encoder now either! With this new update, I CAN'T EDIT OR EXPORT MY PROJECTS! That's money off my table guys. And when I pay for a product, I expect it to produce. Don't You?  I'm just saying, or asking really, why can we not release updates that are bug free? Just fix and improve, and stop messing up what already works?  Because I've spent the last 4 hours, 4 HOURS, trying de-bug the latest Premiere Pro CC version, to no avail...then trying to roll back via forum instructions, to no avail...and now trying to install CS6 and then update to CC 7.1...which will probably not work either.  I should be editing right now, not battling application and code or waiting on previous version downloads long enough to make this complaint.  Why can't we get a bug free update?!!!!!  I do this for a living, and am generally patient and have learned to expect bumps along the road...but this is inexcusable.
Bug free updates, please please please , bug free updates.

Welcome to the forum, Rxb001.
Can you elaborate on the Problem A: same initial audio for each of your clips? If the audio in question happens to be from MXF clips, you might be hitting the issue discussed here (and elsewhere): If you're working with MXF content, then odds are you're hitting the issue that Wil discusses here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1358012?tstart=0
As to Issue B, "Imports all clips 'ungrouped'": Please check in the Timeline to see if Linked Selection button has been clicked off.
On the third, and presumably biggest, problem, the inability to export, we'll need more info if you'd like help troubleshooting it.
As to the larger issue you raise, we're painfully aware that the last few releases have introduced new bugs, and we're working to make improvements in our process to at least reduce those incidents. That said, I'm afraid bug-free updates are a pipe dream with complicated software that has to interface with a diverse world of hardware, plugins, codecs, etc. But we can do better, and we're striving to do so.

• LE7:Score Layout:Global Format:Maximum Bars per Line - Line Break Bug!

Hello
This problem occurs in Logic Express version 7.
(I am using MacOS version 10.4.2 on an eMac)
I am currently compiling and editing a large score for a big band composition consisting of 22 parts:
Flute 1
Flute 2
Clarinet 1
Clarinet 2
Alto Sax 1
Alto Sax 2
Tenor Sax 1
Tenor Sax 2
Baritone Sax
Trombone 1
Trombone 2
Trombone 3
Trombone 4
Trumpet 1
Trumpet 2
Trumpet 3
Trumpet 4
Guitar
Keyboard
Electric Bass
Percussion 1 (Kit)
Percussion 2 (Aux)
I am creating the score in a separate file, and I am combining parts into 1 stave each by instrument like this:
Flute 1 & 2
Clarinet 1 & 2
Alto Sax 1 & 2
Tenor Sax 1 & 2
Baritone Sax
Trombone 1 - 4
Trumpet 1 - 4
Guitar
Keyboard (2 staves)
Bass
Percussion
Each instrument, with the exception of keyboard which has 2 staves, consists of one stave, making up systems of twelve staves each. By sizing down each score style to 2,
I have managed to fit 2 systems onto each page, therefore significantly reducing the amount of paper needed.
The problem comes when organising the layout of my score,
in particular, the line breaks. Using layout:global format, I have limited the maximum number of bars per line to 8, both in the page edit and normal score mode.
I am trying to divide up my score so that there are 8 bars per system. Using the white arrow tool, I am dragging bars up and down in order to achieve this.
However, when I get 30 odd bars in, I discover a system with 12 bars crammed into it - and even printing it off, it is clear that the system could benefit with less bars; the notation is squashed up together and not very easy to read.
THIS IS THE ACTUAL PROBLEM:
So I tried using the white arrow to move the last 4 bars down onto the next system, and a bug occurs where I end up with about 20 bars on the system, oddly distorted, the first few bars of which are squashed up together at the beginning of the line, and the last bar of which is stretched far off the right hand side of the page out of view. Then the next 20 or so bars are no where to be seen (probably far off the right hand side of the page) before the system below.
If you dont know what I am talking about, I could provide a screenshot if you request.
I have tried everything to get 8 bars on that particular system; dragging the stretched bar downwards, dragging squashed bars downward, moving bars down 1 by 1, moving bars onto the system above, moving bars away from the system below (to make room for the 4 bars that I want to move from above), adding more bars and dragging them down, but none of these methods have worked. I am either stuck with 12 bars crammed onto one system and 4 bars on the next or an oddly distorted version of the system which cannot possibly be read. Even when I settle with the unsatistactory former, I encounter further problems on subsequent systems below, some systems of which are already distorted.
All I want is to have 8 bars per system, it should not be too much to ask! The layout:global format:maximum-bars-per-line calculation seems to be redundant, even when I reset the default line breaks - it just does not automatically set 8 bars per line, which it should do. Is there not an option to determine bars individually by number onto their respective lines, without having to use the white arrow graphic layout tool?
The problem is extremely frustrating, and it is preventing me from completing, presenting and handing in a score for my university music composition.
I have no other score producing software, and starting it
from scratch on paper is going to take me weeks, because it consists of 830 12/8 bars in 22 parts, and I need to get it ready by next term!
Any help would be extremely helpful and much appreciated, especially a patch or a useful way round. It could be related to memory, or hard drive space, as I have experienced similar problems in the past, where my score has been stretched off the page during a time when I have had little disk space...and this is a very large piece of music which might stretch the score capabilities of Logic.
If so, has anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks!
Rory

nope just cutting should work.
here are some things to try:
1. try assigning a different score style. for the regions. duplicate and then adjust the default ones if necessary.
2. try creating a new instrument set. in fact delete them and make a new one (use the key command: create instrument set from selected)
3. it may be a formatting problem so check:
in global layout constant spacing (try 8 or 9) and proportional spacing (try 45 or so). then try factory defaults.
4. try copying and pasting the midi into a brand new region and looking at the score for that.
5. try fiddling with the layout tool drqagging bars up or down.
normally simply cutting the region of just one object is enough to force a redraw. maybe try it on all of the regions. what happens when you double click on a region?

• Score Editor bug: syncopating a note disturbs line layout

In the example below, the instrumental part with max 2 bars per line has been created with the Layout Tool, and then the selection saved as a Score Set ( which i hope locks all the page details in place).

I then noticed that the red circled note is not displayed correctly - it should be a dotted eighth note and duly click on it with my Syncopate note command.
This then produces the following effect: it crunches up the bars and disturbs the line layout which was already set, cramming 3 bars onto the line above as in the example below.

Any solutions appreciated/workflow suggestions.. or is this just "..another L8 Score Editor bug.. wasting more of 2009"
PS Any suggestions as how to get the images to display in the post - as opposed to appear a link? cheers

i should be enjoying my holiday but i couldn't help myself...
there are a couple of fixes for this.
first, try cutting the regions somewhere to force a redraw.
second, if no form of cutting or reformatting works, try copy and pasting the midi into a fresh autoload on the intel.
particularly if the file was created pre 7.2. there can be compatibility issues between ppc and intel.

• Score editor: command z, bug?

hi,
I have a score with different time signatures: 3/8, 4/4, 7/7, 5/16, etc.
Every time I press command+Z logic erases nearly all of my time signatures (and the last action I wanted to "undo" it isn't of course the addition of the time signatures logic erases )
Is it a bug?
thanks

Hi Ko be
I just tried opening in L8 an L7 song which has several key signature changes 4/4 to 7/4 to 4/3 and Command + Z doesnt erase them...
I would be pretty sure that your problem is one of those bugs which occurs from a corruption within a Logic 8 document.. but is not a 'generic' L8 defect.
L8 score editor - although improved in some ways - has driven me nuts with really simple weird bugs which L7 never used to do .. eg:
• clicking on a chord symbol ( to bring up the box for editing different elements root/bass note etc) sometimes takes ages to activate - or when it does then the whole part disappears and you are left with a grey page which says " there is nothing in the score editor"
• another intermittent bug is rubber banding a group of chord symbols to cut and paste simple, or drag alter alignment - just does not not work and the chords dont let themselves be selected and go into flashing mode. This is unbelievably irritating especially when you are expecting something so simple to work as before
• the other method of selecting - holding shift and clicking on chord symbols to select a group doesnt work
All this kind of stuff intermittent... ie you never know which Logic Song it is going to start behaving badly in
all best

• Must be a bug in the Score display

This is a continuation of my exploring the problem previously posted re the display of all instruments in a 2 track score (see previous topic).
I tried a new experiment and am now convinced it is some kind of bug. Here is what I did:
1. Closed LE8. Trashed the Logic Express preferences in Home/Library/com.apple etc. Emptied trash and restarted LE8.
2 Started a brand new composing project: 2 software instrument tracks. Chose from the library: flute for track 1 and classical guitar for track 2.
3. Entered a few notes in each track using the step input keyboard. I then opened the score view and voila! there were both tracks. The All Instruments dropdown menu was showing as selected.
4. Then I selected one of the tracks to view the settings, and the score view reverted to a single staff again! I changed NO preferences or selections, other than clicking on Track 1 or 2.
5. This has got to be a bug. Any ideas???
Herb

Err, so where's the problem, Herb?
It's normal that Logic just displays one staff if you select a track. Just double click somwhere on a "blank piece of paper" inside the score window, and you'll be switched back to all instruments.

• Certview Bug examing score reports

I was prompted to test Certview Score reporting this following reports of people with difficulties viewing core reports in certview. At around the time of this post i find the following either bugs or IMHO bad behaviours. I am using Chrome Version 23.0.1271.95 m from a Windows Vista PC at this time.
A am able to get to the Certview - exam history page entitled "Oracle University Exam History"
I see exams I have taken here under the oracle certification program under both prometric and Pearson Vue ( i don not see earlier exams taken under sun / MySQL before takeover; though I do see them on the certification page, this is all as I would expect).
So I have a table of exams as follows:
Test Start Date     Exam Number     Exam Title                      Grade Indicator     Score Report
17-MAR-10     1Z0-047             Oracle Database SQL Expert      PASS                     View
...[1]
When I click on the 'view' link for the score report on an old exam previously taken under oracle when prometric was the provider I get a pop up Tab page with the message:
"There are no registrations associated with your student information."
_OK_I can understand what is going on here, though the message is not informative.
[2]
When I click on view link for score report for the exam above (taken under pearson view) I get a background tab attempting to open with a 'Loading....' message on the tab title ... which goes 'untitled' for an instant and then disappears completely. That tab near reaches foreground and I remain on the exam history page.
[3] I haven't taken an exam for one taken after the new results regime introduced in november 2012 .... but other forum posters seem to have at least got some issues here. I seem to recall from blog links others were initially unsuccessful but later successful with recently taken exams.
I am concerned the update to this area may not have been fully tested, and may be pleased to recommend prize of extended visit to Australian Bushtucker trials with opportunity to develop and test escape software from tunnels full of bandicoots. Of course I am unfairly jesting ;-)
I personnally an not too bothered on this but others may be. I may raise an SR anyway and will leave the number here if I do. I understand it is the weekend, and that software updates take some time to develop and test.

OK
I don't think this is a browser related issue since I have tried this with Chrome, IE and Mozilla. Can anyone help with the solution to view my old results ?
Thank you,
ShashiFor the 2002 and 2005 examinations these will have been with a pre-pearson vue exam provider and the detailed exam results will not be available.
For the 2012 by best guess you ought to have had a Pearson Vue exam with results available, but their may be exceptions ( eg one thought is might happen if oracle testing ID's were merged). Suggest raise a specific service request with Oracle Certification to investigate. This is new so behaviours will be emerging ... however you have not hit a browser issue here as far as I can tell ).

• Yet another score editor.track freeze bug?

scenario:
string section 1st, 2nd, vla, celli, cbasses, all frozen.
i start editing by unfreezing the cbasses. cool.
then i unfreeze the celli to edit them. ok.
then i change back forth from the score to the arrange a coupla times.
then i go to edit the cbasses in the score and logics warns the track is frozen.
it isn't.
this happens a lot.

Hey Wolfgang -
I've tried to reproduce this in CVI 2010 and CVI 2009 SP1, but haven't been able to so far.  You're directions seem very straightforward, so I wonder if I'm just missing something?  I've attached a flash video file of my attempt to reproduce the issue, could you take a look and let me know if there's something else I need to do?
I'm very sorry to hear that you have lost your work today.  We intend CVI to give you the opportunity to save your files before it crashes, but we've found a bug that has been preventing this mechanism from working.  That bug should be fixed in the next major version of CVI.
I'm just curious, do you have autosave enabled in CVI?  CVI should make backups of any unsaved files periodically (configurable from Options»Environment»Auto backup interval), and prompt you to restore the backups in the event of a crash.  Does this mechanism seem to be working for you?

• SCORE, MAJOR BUG

I arrange music for big band and when I get the individual instrument parts looking good, and print them out, I can't get the same page layout if I have to go back and change anything in my individual parts.
If I modify the score and let say something simple like adding a letter at mesure '#45' I have to redo all the formatting for every individual parts (for ALL THE BAND =19 parts)!! before printing the charts...
Does someone can help me to fix this? That's the only MAJOR BUG in Logic.
I will need to go back to Finale.. if nobody helps me.
jOTaz

I've written a number of big band charts using logic. While it's not the best program for parts, I prefer it to others because a) I know the program so well, b) I can really actualize the arrangement in Logic due to its strong midi and audio capabilities. and c) I know the program so well...
Here are some tricks that have helped me;
Note that if you change a part by moving the spacing on the staff (to make it fit nicely on two sheets for instance) all other parts that use that same "Staff Style" will have that same spacing change. To avoid this, duplicate or copy staff styles and name them for each part.
When I get the part to look how I want it, I make a PDF of it so that makes it easy to access without opening Logic. Also, you can email the parts that way. This can be done from the OSX print menue where it says; PDF
Get key commands for things like accents, beaming, sharps, flats and force accidental.
Use the 1st and 2nd ending tool to put in things like "chorus" or other rehearsal sign posts.
Obvious things you probably are already doing.
Use the chord symbols and copy them to other parts, they transpose with the part which is nice.
Use multiple rests.
Use the slash setting on the score style palette for rhythm section parts.
Don't "justify" last measure
BTW... Logic 7 was way better at all this stuff than Logic 8. I haven't used Logic 9 to see if they've fixed or changed any of the stuff they messed up, I suspect not... If you can use L7, you'll be a lot happier.
Good luck. Check out my stuff www.RadMusic.net and look up "Symphomaniacs" on CD baby.

• Is there a bug in the  score layout drop-down?

I have a project with 6 software instrument tracks, each  track is one region. When I select all tracks and try using the score editors drop down Layout option"create score from selection" I never get the top most track in the score.. I have tried creating a new score set but it still leaves the top track out of the score. There are no hidden or muted regions and no MIDI data tracks. I am still in OS10.5.8 because I am watching other forums to see if pro users are moving up and all I see are big problems with 10.6, I may do what they are doing and change my MBP to 10.6 then 10.7 and see what works, but my main work is done on the iMac so I need to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This happens also when I choose "All Instruments" score set-shouldn't that default show all the tracks?

Thanks christiano and Jim, but that causes my 9.1.1 to change the position, length and pitch of 90% of the regions' notes. I have been repeating the same copy paste commands for 4 hours and now they seem slowly to begin to work[Jobs has left the building]. I did try before my original post the option dragging in the Arrange but as I wrote it causes too many mistakes, unless there are only a simple repeated series of a single note-THEN it decides to work.
Any other ideas would be interesting but Apple should get the copy paste in the score going too.

• Score editor: bug?

Bug#1: when using command+r (repeat); If the original material to be repeated contains a tuplet, the tuplet doesn't appear in the copies.
Bug#2: when inserting the tuplet: in the tuplet window> hitting enter (ok) doesn't work

bug#1: does not happen here. works as expected. make sure that you have set 'beat' rather than 'auto' when you make copies.
bug#2: confirmed.
