Infinite cycle of rebooting =S

On startup I get the chime/fan sounds and then the grey apple logo while the loading thing is working. My problem is that this display lasts about 30 seconds and then it reboots my computer, and this process is repeated until I shut it down by pressing the power button.
I've tried:
- reseting the PRAM,
- also the SMC,
- charging my battery till it's full,
- I configured correctly the Startup Disk,
- in the Disk Utilities, I repaired my disk, and it says: "it appears to be OK"
- the Safe Mode (it doesn't work)
I'd appreciate any help because I have important tasks to do in my baby today.

HI,
If an Archive and Install doesn't work, then DiskWarrior or
TechToolPro might be the answer.
Also, go to System Preferences/Energy Saver and click the Options tab. Make sure
Restart automatically after a power failure is deselected.

  • The Eternal Cycle of Rebooting and Reincarnation

Hello, I just got my MacPro back and now it works fine.  I edit Canon 5d Mark II footage on it, natively, H.264, 1920.
The folks at We Fix Macs had to send my MacPro to Cupertino for the bigwigs at HQ to fix my problem.
The reason I brought it in was that it insisted on engaging in an eternal cycle of rebooting every 3 minutes or so.   The machine would power on properly, complete 95% of the booting process EXCEPT for the final display of the clock and other icons on the very top.
Then it would show the beloved BSOD and commence the whole process again, in an eternal cycle of reincarnation and rebooting.  Very Zen and Buddhist and all that, but impossible to get any real work done.
I got it back from Apple HQ 10 days later (yesterday) with a note that it was a "software" problem.  Totally helpful.
I asked what I could do to prevent its recurrence.  They said to close down your programmes properly and make sure all your software is up to date.
    DUH.  I do all that.
I don't want to pose an "How long is my piece of string?" type question to this forum, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced such a philosophically profound, but extremely unhelpful (from a pragmatic view of life), problem.
I don't do video games on this computer, just the Creative Suite 5, updated and current and availing myself of the kind souls on this board via the Web.   So it's pretty much just the creative suite and Apple Safari that only visits Adobe sites.   Pretty much a dedicated video unit.
    Thanks,

    Matt,
I know nothing about Mac's, except for that little logo on the top of their laptops... but when similar happens with most PC's, there is a "path," to troubleshoot. BSOD's, on a PC, are most often hardware issues, and next comes driver issues, that bork the OS. Harm Millaard has gathered a bunch of utilities for helping PC-users track down many of those hardware issues, and his tools are linked from this ARTICLE. I have zero clue, as to how much of that material would apply to a Mac - probably some, but maybe not that much.
Now, I am unplesantly surprised that you did not get more from having shipped your Mac to the Death Star, er I mean the Mother Ship...
It sounds like they are about as helpful as the Geek Squad with a PC. I would have thought it most helpful to you, had they pointed out the software conflict, and then given you a few thoughts on how to keep those conflicts from happening in the future, other than the generic, "shut things down properly." As you state, that is NOT your problem - something else is. What did they find? What did they change?
Now, when my wife's new auto does not work properly, I take it into the dealership. I do not expect them to give me a 50-page print out of exactly what was wrong (I doubt that I could understand it, and I used to do 90% of my auto maintenance), but I do want them to tell me what NOT to do, so that the problem does not surface again. That would be helpful, and they have been good at instructing me.
Good luck, and at least you got the Mac working, or at least I hope that you did.

  • Iphone 6+ infinite loop of reboot and crash

Just bought new iphone 6+ , 128G, started it as a new phone to setup, and then updated to 8.1 software, then i have reset all settings so that i can setup it as a phone from the icloud, but now it got into an infinite loop of reboot showing red screen for 1-2 seconds and then normal apple reboot logo.
I was really looking forward for the new iphone 6+, it is so annoying and disappointing from Apple.
    what shall be done?

Try to use iTunes on your computer to set it up as new device. To make sure that this is not software related set it up without using the latest backup first, in case it contains damaged data causing the crashes.

If it works after that, restore from the backup. If it does not, you'll have to get it serviced:

  • Clean Win7 installation in infinite cycle

I am attempting to downgrade from Win8 to Win7 Ultimate 64bit.   I have installed a new SSD and disconnected my old Win 8 drive.  The clean installation process started normally but eventually hung on the "Completing Installation".  I
am running i7 and 6GB of RAM, so I assumed it was hung for good after nearly 2 hours and no apparent progress or DVD spin.  I hard rebooted as a last resort.  Maybe it was premature .. I don't know.  The computer now boots to Win7 with
empty desktop except for a single model dialog that states something like "Installation is incomplete.  Please click the OK button and the computer will reboot to complete the installation".   The subsequent reboot ends exactly like
the first.   When I boot from the DVD installation, it loads to a blank desktop (only background) and no ability to do anything.  I must hard reboot at this point too.
At this point, I am just looking for a way to fix this or wipe the drive and start anew.   I can't seem to figure out how to do either.   I am not a BIOS and boot disk guy, so if you are kind enough to help, would you please provide detailed
instructions.  Please don't tell me to boot to DISKPART and expect me to understand :-)).
    Thank you.

Can you confirm you have set  boot from DVD as the first priority in BIOS?

  • Cycling crash & reboot

I have an iPhone 3G 16g with 2.1 installed. I uploaded a movie onto the phone to go on a holiday (No country for old men) but when I started watching the movie, the phone would crash after 3-5 minutes. No matter where in the movie I started watching once rebooted, the same kept happening. Rendered the movie unwatchable.
Since then, if the phone is charging it continues to suddenly develop a SAD every 5 minutes, whether in use or idle, then rebbots after a couple more minutes.
Seems ok when not plugged in to charge or mac. MIght be worth noting it's synced with my desktop & I've been plugging in to my laptop to charge sometimes, but that should not be an issue.
Tried shutdown / wait / restart. No better.
Any ideas? Getting on my nerves now....

I've never had any problems with movies or television shows purchased from the iTunes store or with movies/television shows that I ripped from a DVD with an iPod/iPhone compatible setting, but I did experience something similar recently with a podcast. This podcast is nearly 60 minutes long and when it reaches near the 18 minute mark, the podcast stops only. I tried fast forwarding past the 18 minute mark but no change. I tried removing and re-transferring the podcast with no change. The first and only time I've experienced this, but the same podcast for the previous and following week plays fine.
I suggest doing a Restore with iTunes. Before doing so, sync your iPhone to update your iPhone's backup if needed. Restoring completely erases your iPhone and then re-installs the current firmware version. After the current firmware version is re-installed, you will be prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection. This must be followed by a sync.

Once it occurred it repeats each time I start my application.

    Hi Vyacheslav,
It turns out that this problem was reported earlier, although in a slightly different context:
    Infinite loop in getNextIN()
In that case, the problem occurred only after an OutOfMemoryError and only when configuring direct NIO (LOG_USE_NIO and LOG_DIRECT_NIO), which is deprecated.
Do you see any exceptions before the problem occurs?
We have a fix for this. However, when this was reported earlier we could not find a case where it could occur without a fatal error (such as OutOfMemoryError) preceding it, so we did not apply the fix to the JE 3.3 release. The fact that the problem has occurred for you means that we misjudged the scope of the problem.
It looks like it can also occur under certain conditions after an environment using the shared cache is closed, and the remaining environments using the shared cache have no evictable nodes, and the cache overflows.
Please send me email and I'll give you a JE 3.3 jar file with a fix to try. I'm mark.hayes at the obvious (oracle.com).
    Thanks,

"Infinite bucle" -- did you mean infinite cycle of rebooting? If so, then you have some work ahead of you -- and I hope you already have a good backup...

  • Iphone 4 in infinite reboot

im running an iphone 4 ios 6 upraged to latest versiona and it ran out of charge, charged it via wall charger then it went into and infinite loop of rebooting, ive restored it numerous amount of times and done the dfu mode and all that, nothing seems to work please help

iphone 4 32GB here as well...I get the 2006 error after attempting to sync with iTunes.
my phone worked great for ~ 2 hours yesterday then would not boot at all. resetting did no good.
i have tried every option out there:
    - option click install .ispw
    - boot in recovery mode
    - tried to restore from new user account
    - tried to restore from windows machine
    - reset the SMC on my MBP
Pretty sure it's a hardware error; nothing but replacing will fix this. Even AppleCare was stumped. Going into the Apple Store tomorrow, will update.

  • Stuck in reboot cycle

I have installed the Tech Preview Enterprise version and all went well, till the system got stuck in an endless reboot cycle, it reboots; gets to the windows logo, shows the progress wheel for about 30 seconds; then a black screen with the evaluation number
in the bottom right corner and then just stops and reboots. It has been doing this for several hours now, any ideas of how to break this cycle or do I need to wipe it and go back to the old OS

    Hi
Can you boot into safe mode and then check the logs for errors why its not booting?
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Computer reboots when I connect my iPod to a USB 2.0 slot

    Here are my specs:
    - I have the new iPod 60 GigaByte hardrive version.
    - Operating System on my PC: Windows XP
    - CPU: AMD Athalon XP 1.8 gHz
    - My PC is several years old and has four built-in USB 1.1 slots. My iPod works on all of these USB 1.1 ports, albeit slow. (And when I connect iPod to these slots, I get the message telling me I have a high speed device connected to a non-high speed USB port, which I understand.)
    - I just installed a Dual-Link USB 2.0 and Firewire PCI card (from ADS tech) into an empty PCI slot on my PC. It has 3 USB 2.0 slots and two Fire-wire slots. The card is properly installed because windows immediately recognized it.
Now, I have tested two other devices on my new USB 2.0 slots. I have tested my mouse and a logitech gaming controller (although these devices are actually based on the older USB 1.1 technology), and these devices work in the USB 2.0 slots.
But, when I connect the iPod to any of the USB 2.0 slots, I get the little bell sound meaning that the computer is recognizing it. The iPod then displays the "Do not disconnect" message. But then the computer will begin rebooting by iteself. It will then attempt to reboot windows and almost gets there, but then reboots again. It continues this never-ending cycle of rebooting until I disconnect the iPod and then the computer reboots completely. Inserting the iPod will cause it to reboot again. This happens whether or not I have the iTunes program running.
Can anyone give me insight for resolving this problem? Has anyone else had this problem before?

  • Constant rebooting of 3rd Gen. 10gb ipod

I have a problem with an iPod (detailed below). I appreciate that it is probably broken in a hardware sense but I'd like to know what exactly about it is broken (HD, logicboard, buttons!), to arm myself with an idea of the cost come the long trip to the repair shop...
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.
MODEL: 3rd gen. 10 gig with docking connector (over a year old) US version.
OCCURRING SITUATION: When the iPod is on, regardless of connection to PC or MAC via USB (2, 1.1 or 1) or Firewire and even when unconnected.
SYMPTOMS: Constant re-booting. Shows Apple logo then reboots, etc... until battery is dead. There is also a whirring while it is booting then a click as it fails and reboots (however this may be normal as I didn't notice it before and only hear it now when putting my ear to the back plate). All buttons are unresponsive while booting (or rather have no effect on the process). Boot cycles are about 2-3 seconds apart. Windows XP will recognise that a USB device is connected but can't tell what it is and ipod will charge via Firewire but continues a constant cycle of reboots while charging.
    TRIED (but ineffective) FIXES:
    + Connecting to different PC's and MAC's
+ Various ipod button combinations to illicit a change in ipod behaviour
+ Different cable connectors through different standards to PC's, MAC's
    + iTunes updates
    + iPod updater
+ Shouting "Why don't you work?" at iPod

Just to understand it though, wouldn't the firmware on the logicboard still enable me to run some diagnostics despite a HD failure?
Yes, yes it would. If you were to do the right thing, you could run a diagnostic.

Mine does this too. I've got an older IBM ThinkPad T30 with USB 1 built-in, running Windows XP SP2. So, I bought a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adapter card. All of my other devices (external hard drives, etc.) work just fine when they're plugged into it. However, when I plug my iPod into it, Windows shows a "blue screen of death" for just a second, then it reboots the ThinkPad.
I'm betting that it's a driver issue with the PCMCIA adapter card, so I'm going to start troubleshooting there. If I find a fix, I'll post it here!

  • My appleTv keeps rebooting, is there a fix?

Every time I try to turn on my Apple TV, it cycles and reboots then does it over and over.  Maybe every 30 seconds, what can i do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router.

  • Seeking Windows Update PowerShell Module user experience concerning failure to reboot automatically.

I am currently using  Windows Update PowerShell Module to updates several machines. I notice that on identically configured windows 2003 and windows 2008 servers some nodes do not reboot on their own and wait for a user confirmation. This keeps them from finishing their update cycle and requires manual intervention. This happens even if no user is logged on.
Is there a way to get reliable reboots upon reaching conclusion of a patch cycle? I notice that on windows 8 and windows 2012 there is additional support to force reboot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2835627/en-usBut we have a lot of older platforms (thousands) and I am frustrated that I can't determine why some nodes do not complete their patch cycle by rebooting on their own while other identically built nodes do so.
    Thanks.
    Gautam

some nodes do not reboot on their own and wait for a user confirmation.
This happens even if no user is logged on.
This is technologically impossible, so we need to find out what else is going on in this scenario. For starters, you'll need to show us the WindowsUpdate.log entries where this update was installed and the system restarted.

  • 8.2 update ipad randomly reboots

Since updating my iPad to the latest 8.2 update it randomly reboots.
i Thought it might have been a game, or iMessage since iMessage was very slow to respond but that doesn't seem to be it.
i Stopped playing the games that the iPad would reboot while playing and turned off iMessage.
the iPad stayed on for almost 30 minutes after that and I thought I had it solved, at least until the next update, then it started to randomly reboot again, cycling a reboot 5 or 6 times in a row until I got a kernel panic screen during a reboot sequence.
This really really scared me but after a hard reboot the iPad came back to life.
is anyone else experiencing these random reboots since updating to 8.2?
if you are, or were, have you figured out a solution?

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.
