Infinity 2 IP Profile 15.65 Mbps & Disconnects
I got Infinity 2 installed in February and have never got anywhere near the stated speeds. See BTW performance Check below.
It would appear the line is capped at 15.65 Mbps, also rather concerned that the maximum acceptable speed is 40Mbps.
Another issue also present since set up is that the Internet Connection drops anytime the phone is in use. I contacted support who escalated the issue and I was promised a call back within 48 hours which I did not receive.
I have the HH5

Hi, I had BT infinity installed a few months ago and it was fine. However we had to cut the power off to the house and now the internet is slower, it would seem im on a slower IP profile than I was before.
Results are as follows :
Download speedachieved during the test was - 43.52 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 12 Mbps-0 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 45.63 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 9.75Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
My connection before was around 50-52mb, how can I get this sorted ?DLM will do it automatically as ryant704 says. BUT be patient, it may take a couple of weeks.
It is worth disconnecting/reconnecting your router (NOT modem) each morning during this period; sometimes DLM increases your sync speed, but this does not get reflected in you profile. The speed you get is approximately the slower of the DLM/IP profile speeds. The reconnection will force the IP profile to match the sync. -
Slow Infinity speeds - Profile problems
Hello All,
I have had the Infinity package since 6/7/2011 with speeds estimated at 34 mb/s. So far the maximum I have received is 10mb/s, and only on one PC for a short time, the average being about 4-5 mb/s.
On Saturday the 23/7/2011 I ran speed tests using http://speedtester.bt.com/, after disconnecting all but one device from the hub and was recieving about 10mbs, which was confirmed by BT over the phone. I was told that there was a problem with my profile and i was recieving the minimum speed and the profile was reset.
So far my service has not improved, ping and speed both fluctuating wildly with the maximum i have observed to be 7mb/s average about 4.
My phone has been getting a ping of 140 and speed around 200kps, before the reset ping was around 40 and speed 1-2 mps.
I know it has not yet been 10 days, but i have been paying for infinity for most of a month but recieving a service that is often inferior to the regular bt broadband and the profile reset does not seem to be working and several posts that i have seen say that it should only take 3-4 days for major improvement.
Should i wait until it has been 10 days or complain again?
Thanks
JamieHaving been contacted by the mods i have found out that the speed at the hub is around 36mb/s but that is not reaching any device not connected directly via ethernet to the hub.
I performed some tests, for 3 of the main devices on my network. The results shown are an average of 3 consecutive test on speedtest.net and Only the device being tested was connected to the hub at the time of the test.

2 PC's are connected via ethernet over homeplug and are recieving low speeds. Depspite the house being only 2 years old so has new wiring and the occasional peak in speed showing greater download rates are possible i think i am going to have to abandon them.
The wireless connection desite having all g+ devices are also recieving low speeds, lower than on the previous hub before infinity so i do not think the hubs wireless is suitable either
As BT say that thier responsibility only extends to getting speed to the hub not further my plan is to buy a wireless N router and connect it via direct ethernet to the hub then connect the PC's and laptop to the external router with wireless N adaptors. Any other devices such as phones/ non-N adaptors would connect wirelessly to the hub.
Does anybody know if this will work and have any recomendations on the routers?

BT Infinity - IP Profile has dropped, how do I rai...
Hi
I month ago I had some issues with my broadband connection, possibly related to the extreme bad weather we have been having. I now find that the IP Profile has dropped to 11.03 Mps (I used to be just under 35).
What process do I need to go through to get the profile re-evaluated/raised? I have re-booted both the white modem and the HomeHub 4.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 10.69 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 8.82 Mbps-11.03 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 11.03 Mbps
Thanks
AndrewYou need an engineer out to test the line and reset your IP Profile. Call CS.

I am wanting to know if BT Infinity has banded profiles. I ask as my downstream line rate has recently dropped since installing a Home Hub 5 and from high 40's down to 35, well 34999 downstream rate according to the modem. What is odd is if I reset the modem it seems to sync back to 34999, coincidence or is something limiting the line rate. It looks like interleaving has also enabled as the attainable rate has dropped from 50+ to 45. I remember before getting infinity with a previous supplier that after a line fault the profile got stuck somehow and a handed profile was applied which somehow limited what it could connect above.
I cannot help but think the line speed drop is as a result of using the home hub 5 but could be wrong, is there any easy way to see if I am on a banded profile, is this something that could be checked somewhere?
CheersI thought this may have been a modem problem so I have put back the BT Modem, so the HH5 is no longer using the inbuilt modem. The details from the BT modem is showing the same download rate of 34999.
Below are the stats from the BT modem:

IP Profile - 0.18 mbps dl speed.
I have been having issues with broadband recently after moving the HomeHub several times and reseting etc. I have been getting in the range of 0.18 mpbs to about 0.56 mpbs.
After reading on this forum about others experiencing this problem I believe it has something to do with IP Profile being reduced as the hub thinks there is a line fault.
Is this correct and will it most likely resolve it self after a few days of a stable connection? I just wanted to clarify this.

One MBP disconnects all other computers
Hi everyone. I have been having an issue with my network which consists of a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 (about 5-6 years old) and an Airport Extreme (newest model). I have 3 computers and an iPod Touch regularly connected to it: one iMac and two Macbook Pros (mid-2007 and the most recent model). The iMac is hardwired to the router and the two MBPs are connected wireless. The router is set to run on mixed G/N with WPA/WPA2 Personal as encryption.
I noticed the problem usually occurs with the 2007 MBP that is fully updated. When browsing the internet, the connection will suddenly drop and a webpage(s) will continuously attempt to connect. However, it never does. When I close the browser whether it be Firefox or Safari and restart the applications, there is no internet connection. Airport displays full bars and the router's light is still green. The modem seems to be acting normally as well. When this occurs, the internet connection is lost at all hardware currently connected to the router. This problem does not occur with the iMac, 2009 MBP, or iPod Touch - only the 2007 MBP. If I close all browsers or applications using an internet connection on my MBP and wait for about 5-10 minutes, the internet connection will come back.
Does anyone have any explanations for this problem or suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks.knp59 wrote:

This may not tell you anything useful, but you might try this: Launch AirPort Utility. Double-click on your AirPort unit in the list on the left. Click on the "Advanced" item in the tool bar. Click on the "Logs and Statistics" button at the bottom. Click on the "Logs" tab. Look for any odd events around the time(s) you had that trouble. -
MBP disconnects IPhone everytime saying the USB is drawing too much power?
Hi Guys,
Today I went and bought myself a new Mac Book Pro 13".
Tonight I've been transfering all my files over from my old MacBook and everytime I try to connect my IPhone 3GS by USB to my Mac a message comes up straight away saying "A device conected to your computer is drawing too much power, apple has disconected this device to prevent damage occuring to your computer"
I have tried to connect my phone numerous times while it has been conected to the power cord and also running on battery.
It also took my new Mac a good half an hour to recognise my external hard drive was connected and let me use it..
I have had this problem once or twice with the same IPhone and my old mac so im thinking it may be a problem with my phone considering it is 2 years old now?
But then again, my old mac that is nearly 4 can still connect to my phone when my new MBP can't.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,Use a self powered USB hub.

We were unable to identify any performance problem with your service at this time. It is possible that any problem you are currently, or had previously experienced may have been caused by traffic congestion on the Internet or by the server you were accessing responding slowly. If you continue to encounter a problem with a specific server, please contact the administrator of that server in the first instance.
We have identified that you have additional services enabled on you broadband line, please click continue to run advanced service tests. It's been suggested that a re-boot of your modem/hub might kick the Infinity 2 profile into gear so assuming you've not done that it might be worth a try first before contacting BT.

BT Infinity available at my exchange, still can't ...
OK I won't bore you all to much with the details of the quest to get an internet connection, but it basically goes like this. I moved address and when I tried to 'move' my BT Infinity service was told it was not available at my new address. I did a check on SamKnows and it said it was availabe. So I've decided to go with Virmin Media as that is the only other high speed provider in this country. After registering and setting up an account I was given various installation dates and the engineer never showed up on any of them, this went on for a whole 2 months until finally I get a call from their installations department telling me the cost is simply too much and demand to low to install services here and this area is now unable to get cable services at all!
A "slow-spot" is an area where you can only get a broadband service with a speed of below 2 Mbps (downstream)
With no other option I have had no other choice but to go and pick up ADSL broadband with an estimated speed of 1.6Mbit down. I figured I'd go for the buisiness package and if I move I can have buisiness Infinity. My post code is N7 8JE, this is in London Zone 2 on Holloway Road which is very central (I can walk to Kings Cross in 20 minuites!) and I cannot get respectable broadband which unfortunately I need for my job. I need an upload of at least 5Mbit and I now have to suffer with something in the region of 200kb. I have done a lot of research and tried all the not known about ISP's but in 90% of cases they use BT's Openreach network and can only offer the same or worse speeds. the other 10% were not available in my area (I've heard that one before)
I did have hope that the 4G network EE might offer a solution... that is until they announced their price plans and data limits... 5GB A MONTH!? for £35.... nope! (2005 called, they want their data plans back).
So as it stands BT come to install their Buisiness phone+ ADSL broadband. Some light on the situation is they said IF it ever becomes available in the area they can put me on the better package free. I was told by the guy I was ordering it from that after the order he'll so a check to see when my cabinate will get Infinity, unfortunately we both forgot and disconnected, and on calling BT back they just do the standard check. I was wondering if anyone can give me some hope and/or advice here on how to improve my situation.
I design game environments and virtual worlds, and I am often uploading and downloading large files along with the engine I use is supposed to require at minimum a 4Mbit connection both ways. I am as you can see a little stuck. Is there any hope?Hi Chaoss,
It looks like your on a EO (exchange Only Line).
Unless your exchange is FTTP/H ready then Unfortunatly EO lines are currently unable to have fibre broadband such as BT Infinity due to your line not connecting to a cabinet which would allow FTTC.
Please bear in mind that in some cases it may not be possible to provide FTTC broadband in areas due to:
• Your phone line may be connected directly to the telephone exchange and not to a local street cabinet - (Exchange Only Line [EO] )
• Your line may be too far from the local street cabinet to have a stable FTTC broadband service such as BT Infinity service.
• Your local street cabinet may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• We haven't yet got the council's planning permission to do the necessary work at your local street cabinet.
• Your home may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• Your landlord may not have agreed to the fibre infrastructure being provided in your building (for example if you live in a flat).
There are different stages to the development of the fibre infrastructure in the UK.
If you have an EO Line then currently you will not be able to have FTTC broadband as your line isn't connected to a cabinet. In these instances Openreach plan to connect some areas that have EO lines with either FTTP or other fibre technologies in the future.
This video explains more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=p0qN5XHuI5Q
Also check the Openreach "Power of Fibre" website: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/the-big-build/the-power-of-fibre.aspx
You can keep checking the BT Wholesale Database and BT Infinity website for upto date information as these are updated regularly.
The openreach When and Where website is: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
The Fibre-Optic Broadband Rollout is being managed and done by Openreach for all communication providers/ISPs.
BT Retail (your communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout of fibre broadband.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

BT Infinity and My 3 Master Sockets!?!
Hi All,
I've had Infinity 1 for around 6 months now, but I've never come close to achieving my quoted speed of 38mbps (highest I've got is 28-29 mbps)
I'm a little concerned that this may be because of the (what seems to me) unusual wiring arrangements I inherited from the previous owners - basically, I seem to have three master sockets. I've attempted to draw a diagram of the setup:
The orange and black lines represent the A and B lines from the cabinent and connecting to each of the master sockets. The dotted line is just meant to show that this wire goes through the wall and inside the house to the master in the living room. Inside the grey box, all the cables are crimped together using jelly crimps.
The master in the living room is the new style fibre openreach box with the bt socket and rj11 socket. The other two sockets are NTE5 master sockets. All three sockets have a dial tone!
So my questions are:
1. Do I geniunely have three masters, and is this right (i.e. a perfectly ok installation or a botched job?!?)
2. Is this going to affect the speed of my Infinity connection
3. Can I disconnect the two additional master sockets (or does this break the law and I need an Openreach engineer to do it?)
Cheers,
MattI agree with Horner_J. A couple of extra comments ....
If not then they are wired the way you show, which is wrong. This should have been spotted and corrected at install.
Unfortunately, it is very common for the installers not to notice such incorrect wiring. In my case, I explicitly asked whether it would be an issue and was told that is would not. My speed soon dropped from 50 at install time to around 12 (and briefly to 3). When the issue was rectified, it raised to around 70 (eventually, DLM took around 3 weeks to allow it).
and using one of the extensions should make your internet drop.
I don't agree with that. It may well be that using one of the extensions will cause lots of noise and eventually give you much lower speeds, but it may well not make it drop. It didn't in my case.
If not then you need BT to do it.
Or to accidently cut the bad extension wires just after they come out of the junction box. -
I had a problem on the 29th May where an engineer found a fault with a pair that that needed to be recrimped.
Since then my profile has dropped from 75/19 to 14/20
Todaty another enginner came, he said there is no fault, I saw his test equipment and that showed the line capable of 75/19
My profile is now 33/20
I have just spoken to BT, they said they can't reset the profile so another engineer visit is scheduled for Thursday. Is there anyone from BT here that can help please? This seem to be reoccurring and the bad thing about it is the call centre can't reset your profile at least that's what they told me and then said it would go to a infinity broadband team that would do that I'm in the process of this as anything can happen but it doesn't look like it's just the 10day settling it looks like it monitors constant and imposes its line limit and their is no way you can tell it to bump it up and have it perfom a test for at least an hour so that BT maintain a stabile line and the customer doesn't have to keep ringing for a rest if anything happends like fuse box trips out or someone disconnects it or you have a powercut. As the customer service told me they can't rest infinity IP profiles. I must say I've learnt a lot about profile which I never knew I wish I didn't have to though people just want the fast broadband promised, and if you don't know about these IP Profiles that are set or constantly changing in some cases an Open Reach engineer will be for ever visiting your property telling you all is ok.

Issue with SPA525g registation and FXO port call calls are not disconnecting properly
Hi,
I have a UC540 and updated it to the latest IOS version with the latest firmware to my phones and i am having registration problems with SPA525g IP Phones. I updated the firmware of the phones as well and create manual tftp bindings with but still it is not registering. I run a couple of debugs (debug tftp events and debug ephone registration) I can see from the logs and in the phone that it is taking the proper VLAN and being discovered via CDP and being pointed to the TFTP server and still wont register. I can see that it is also taking its own .cnf file properly then the output sccp token regected invalid devices error is shown I have a SPA502G and it is working fine. Also there is a previous issue that all the voice port are shown as engage or offhook even the calls are disconnected thus make the main PSTN number busy am based in UAE and our service provider is etisalat I have check with them about the proper disconnection values but still it the same. That's why I have arrived in the conclusion to just update everything including the IOS and the phones firmware. I have put my config in this post, I am also trying to take the CCNA Voice exam on the 2nd week of april and I think that if i don't know how fix this issue for our customer then I would probably fail that exam. any suggestion and help is greatly appreciated cisco experts.

Some of the output are not shown becaus it is to long I have attach the whole config for reference and any advice on how could I optimize and resolve my issues is greatly appreciated. ThanksNicolo - First off this stuff gets crazy sometimes. No worries about the exam. Sometimes when FXO ports go crazy it is due to battery reversal. If you go to the FXO port settings try turning battery reversal on and or off... depending on its current setting. See if that helps.
As for the 525s not registering.. These are inside the network correct? Are you connecting one directly to the UC500 with a Cat5E or Cat6 patch cable and the same thing happens? Does the MAC address on the phone match a MAC address under the EPHONE settings?
If you telnet into the UC500 can you execute a "dir" command at the CLI prompt and "CD" (change directory) into the phones folder and then the spa525g folder? Do files exist in there?
Also I only see an IP address under BVI100? This is the voice side of things what happened to the IP address under BVI1 (Data VLAN). Can you give us some information about the internal network? Cna you PING this phone system from the network? What IP address does it have? -
LCD color profile and Keyboard shortcuts gets screwed up
My macbook pro is connected to a Dell flat panel to extend the desktop. Recently, and inconsistently, the color profile of my MBP's LCD will get screwed up when I exit from the Screensaver - the external display looks right. Just clicking on display in system preferences immediately corrects the color. But I would like to fix it from not happening every now and then.
Another problem I notice pretty much in the same sporadic way is that my keyboard shortcuts (F9 to F12) for dashboard and expose gets reset to none - I am not sure if they are even related as of now (can't reproduce it at will)
Has anyone experienced something like this? Any potential solutions?
