Infinity and Beyond

Since having Infinity installed last Monday, I have not been able to download the free antivirus product, I have been unable to use the iPlayer and the speed is worse than my old hub.
With regard to the antivirus, this is what is causing me the most worry - my Norton expired last weekend but I didn't bother renewing because I knew I was getting this new one.  It tells me it can't download the components.
If anyone else has had the same problems and knows how to deal with them, please help me because I'm running out of hair to pull out now

the antivirus product is currently having problems i suggest you try to down load another antivirus programme for now as to your speed problems can you please post the full diagnostic BT speed test from this link
http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and post back the results using a wired connection to your hub then we can start to help you

  • BT Infinity and Total Broadband

I upgraded to BT Infinity in a flat i rented, the tenancy has come to an end and the landlord wants standard broadband and has been told by BT that installing infinity has disconnected the original and she will need to pay £130 to have the line reinstalled.
Does installing BT Infinity mean that you cannot revert to total Broadband or similar services?

No it does not. However, if the line is to be changed names then the account has to be ceased and a new line provisioned. This costs £130.
I think you need to clarify what the charge will be for.
As a side note, why anyone would want to revert to standard broadband from Infinity is beyond me. It's like owning a car then going back to a push bike. You just don't do it.

  • Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?

Hello.  Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?
I use FCP7 and often have a sound loop or the like that I need in AIFF format, I normally use itunes to do the conversion, but have heard that version 10 no longer performs this task...?
    Thx for the help!

It still works the same as in past releases.  Go to Edit > Preferences > Import Settings, and set "Import Using" to "AIFF Encoder," and then the option will be available.  Consult this document for details:

  • Infinity and online gaming

    Hello

however i always get loads of lag when playing on xbox live, to the point it is not worth playing, it gets worse than when I was on normal copper wire broadband.
I have also noticed that there is quite a delay before web pages open when browsing the internet in general, my ping used to be pretty consistent at around 17 - 20ms before I switched to infininty but now seems to jump around lot even going as high as 300ms on occasion.
my line profile seems to have set at 38.10mb which I am happy with, and the engineer who installed my infinity said that my line stats were excellent.
all this said then why do i seem to be suffering when using xbox live??

    Hi Cameron
No I have been trying it with the wireless disabled, although on our old connection this wasnt an issues, myself and my son could both use our xboxs together on the one connection and still it was better than at presen
I didnt have the cable in the gigabyte port, I have now though, what does this port do?
Yes port forwarding set to xbox live

  • Infinity and Anywhere

I recently ordered Infinity but a nice Irish lady rang to say that Infinity is not compatible with Broadband Anywhere. When I said that that I found that difficult to understand she commented that the issue is with BT's billing system.
When will this be sorted out?

    Dear BT,
I'm also very keen to find out about this. Just had a lovely leaflet through from you telling me I can now get Infinity (and at less than Anywhere package), but I come on here only to find there's some non-technical "compatability" issue with my totally unrelated mobile phone.
Seriously BT sort yourselves out, because as soon as another company gets even close to your high uptime levels we'll all be off.
Look I'll tell you what, let me switch to Infinity and charge me a monthly fee for my continued phone use on top - that's fair, yes?
I'm very brand-loyal and a top of the range product user, I've had BTBBA, or Option 3, or whatever previosuly for nearly 10 years. I have BTvision. I want to spend money on a good new product: so stop trying to p*$$ me off and make me take my business and my wallet elsewhere.
Yours looking forward to this issue being resolved very shortly...

  • Whole block can get infinity and I can't...

I have just signed up to BT standard broadband and am hoping to possibly upgrade to fibre in the near future. I have tried calling BT however they say I can’t get fibre due to them entering in the phone number and saying it is unavailable.
When I check the availability of fibre using my address it says it is available to me, however when I enter my phone number it says it isn’t.
All my neighbours can get infinity and I can’t, please don’t say it is down to routing as I can’t be the only flat in a nine story building that can’t get it.
They are all connected to the same cabinet and exchange as me. Front door is less than 2 metres away from mine. Please see just one example below.
    Can someone please help.
    Thanks

    Hi Darren1515
I can see one of my colleagues is chasing this for you.
I'll get you contacted with an update it may be tomorrow but I will have you updated.

  • In a graph, fill base line both -infinity and infinity

    Hello,
In a graph is it possible to fill base line to both negative infinity and positive infinity?
    Thanks

Could you explain what you are imagining this to look like?  If the plot color was red and you could fill this to both -infinity and +infinity then the whole graph would be colored red...
If you meant for the colors to be different an easy work around is to the set either the -infinity or +infinity and then color the background of the graph to the other color:

  • OS X 10.5.3 (and beyond) Increases CPU Power Draw?

    Hi all
I've got another ongoing thread (2006 Mac Pro Elevated CPU Temps) where I've been attempting to determine why my 2006 Mac Pro was running so much warmer than I recall at time of purchase...
By sheer luck, I seem to have stumbled on the cause... when I first noticed it, I was running 10.5.7 with the CPUs idling around 130F or so... as noted in that thread, I tried all sorts of things such as cleaning the dust out, reapplying the thermal paste, etc... all of which had no impact... for an unrelated issue, I decided to re-install OS X 10.5 base version and I was shocked to discover my CPU temps back down in the mid-90s F or so...
I happened to have taken some screenshots of Hardware Monitor and was able to compare them against the current readings... under OS X 10.5 -> 10.5.2, each CPU draws ~10W @ idle; under 10.5.3 and beyond, the CPU draw increases to ~30W @ idle. Naturally, this extreme increase results in the aforementioned temperature increase... I'm not sure as to the cause but my immediate suspicion is that some low-power CPU mode is disabled in the later revisions...
I've spoken to Apple about this and they're looking into it but in the mean time, I was wondering if anyone has any input on this?
    -Justin

Interesting since Apple stated that they observed similar results on their test machine...
I'll have to try stripping the machine down to the original components and seeing if it has an impact... although, I think I've done this already when I was exploring why the CPU temps were so high...

  • Bug: when you have two or more reminder pop-ups on BB10, you can't edit 2 or more of them because the second and beyond are lost...

I notice that when you have two or more reminder pop-ups on BB10 (tasks, calendar, etc.), you can't edit 2 or more of these because the second and beyond get lost and will never pop-up again.

    Hey JVanB,
    Thank you for your feedback.
To better understand your issue, for example If you have two reminders and select 'View Event Details' on the 1st reminder,  does the 2st reminder popup before the Details of the1st reminder displays?
    Thanks.

  • Iphone 4s calender one day off last week in October and beyond

My iphone 4s for the last week in October and beyond is one day off(ahead of schedule) after syncing with outlook?

There are many factors that affect battery life such as a new iPhone being used more often than may be normal otherwise - the more the screen is on, more battery will be used and the brighter the screen setting even more when on, cellular reception at the time even without placing or receiving calls and the same for internet access via your carrier's cellular network, how often an email account or accounts are being automatically checked for new email, having bluetooth enabled when not being used to name a few.

  • Device Mapper and -fallback.img - stock, ck and beyond

    Hi!
I have similar findings to superstoned, see at the end of
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=27696
device mapper module is not the part of the kernel26*-fallback.img. I understand the fallback images as the ones that contain all modules and if we get into trouble by generating our own cpio image we can point GRUB/LILO to them and be able to fix the problems.
Unfortunatelly the device mapper is not included in them (I checked the stock, ck and beyond kernels) which can cause problems if somebody installs the "/" on LVM managed disks.
Would it make sense to include them in the "fallback" image?
Besides of that I created a custom cpio image that includes the dm_mod.k by putting it into mkinitcpio.conf
    MODULES="sata_nv sd_mod reiserfs dm_mod"
funny thing is it is working fine for the beyond and ck kernels but the stock one is not loading it although it is there - in the img file. Weird.
    Any comments?
    waldek

I checked again - custom img file works for all 3 kernels. My mistake - sorry.

  • Any thoughts on Infinity and Windows 8?

    Hi,
I have just installed Windows 8 64bit Pro OEM. I dont really like it at all, I first installed a software for a original Start menu key which was missing and I find very frustrating without, but I got that sorted eventually and now I am just finding my way around but very frustrated! I have tested speeds with Infinity and it does seem to be down on the download by about 300 - 400Kbps, upload speeds the same as 7, it seems also the loading times on google chrome, is what I use, seems to be hanging quit badly. I'm not likeing it at all and I'm thinking of going back to Windows 7. I just wanted to know how others got on?. Thanks.

  • BT Infinity and Zyxel Powerline Adapters - connect...

    Hi,
I recently upgraded the Infinity and also moved house. So now I have the HH3 with BT Infinity. I use Zyxel Powerline adapters, but struggling to get a connection.
I'm using the following to connect to the HH3 http://www.zyxel.com/uk/en/products_services/pla4225.shtml?t=p and connecting through the Giga or Ethernet inputs on the back of the HH3 but when I try to connect my PC/Laptop to the Powerline adapter in my bedroom it cannot find the network.
Any thoughts? Should I be connecting the Powerline Adapter to the HH3 or the white router BT supply? Do I need to configure something when setting up the Ethernet connection with my PC? I'm using my BT account credentials [email protected] and password but it's not connecting.
    Any inspiration/experimentation welcomed.
    Thanks.

Should I be connecting the Powerline Adapter to the HH3 or the white router BT supply?
Do I need to configure something when setting up the Ethernet connection with my PC? I'm using my BT account credentials [email protected] and password but it's not connecting.
Normally, connect one powerline to the HomeHub and the other to the PC.  If the PC has been set up in the standard way, it will then get a local ip address by DHCP from the HomeHub.  You might go to your PC ethernet adaptor settings and make sure they are set up for 'dhcp' and 'get DNS setttings automatically'.   You won't need to enter any credentials in the PC for this method.  You shouldn't go near the 'connect to the internet' dialog; it should just work automatically.
If you only want to connect a single PC, you could connect the first powerline to the white modem and leave out the HH3 completely.  You would then need to put credentials into the PC: the normal thing there is to enter user '[email protected]', and the password doesn't matter.  That goes into a 'connect to the internet' dialog.
Make sure the 'internet' or whatever lights are blinking on both powerlines, otherwise there is a problem with those, or  the bedroom ring is not connected closely enough to the other ring.  Unlikely, I had a perfectly good connection through different rings and different fuse boxes on different floors with similar zyxel powerline (only single ethernet ones); at least until one stopped working altogether.

  • BT Infinity and to VOIP

i am new to infinity and whilst having a "chat" with zara on the bt website i was invited to chat and discuss my broadband needs. i had orange livebox, unlimited calls and unlimited voip calls via a bt phone in the livebox/router. zara explained i would still have the facility to make international calls (australia) with my new infinity hub. i cancelled my free internet service from orange and ported over...when the hub 3 was fitted the engineer told me there is no way you can make a call via hub??? who do i complain to because the muppets i speak to in delhi bangaloor and phuket are hopeless and promise to call at given times to resolve this matter but never do. i was clkearly mis sold this service (i printed the chat history which states calls can be made via hub)
q can i insist they resolve this and or provide the means to make calls via my new hub?
q2 could i piggy back my livebox router via the phone line if bt configure this....can that be done
i am fuming and would appreciate some feedback
    yours
    steve

The quick answer is no. The livebox is an ADSL router which will only work on that type of line.
This is an all to common problem, I would rarely trust call centres with this type of enquiry! And unless you have retained an orange broadband account, access to second line will cease anyway.
