Infinity available on my Exchange but not on my st...

Just wondering if someone can explain what's going on here.  I'm on the Haslington exchange, which has now been enabled.  There are 3 cabinets all within 800m of my house that have been upgraded, and have whirring equipment in them so they would all appear to be active.  I know which cabinet I am on as a recently retired Openreach engineer lives on the next street along, and has told me which one my line is connected to which is one that is ~650m from my house.  It's also the same one he is on and the tracker will allow him to order at 37 meg, he is a little closer to the cabinet than me.
I've been checking the BT Infinity checker for a while and it's always said 'Infinity is not due to be rolled out in your area' under my phone number.  A while back I was able to search by post code, and it said something like 'Good news, Infinity is coming to your area' but I can't seem to find that link anymore?
Now as I know the cabinet I was on was upgraded a few months ago I called BT last month who checked, and told me there was an error in the tracker and that I would definitely be able to order Infinity at my house and that the current enablement date was 31 March though this was subject to change.
I've just learned that some of my neighbours in surrounding streets have been able to order Infinity, and have estimated download speeds of 30-40 meg, so today I called BT and asked if I could order.
I was first of all told that Infinity is not available in my area and my exchange probably has not been enabled.  I questioned this as I know I am on the Haslington exchange, I was then told that I can't be on the Haslington exchange.  I then politely asked to speak to a supervisor.  I was then fogged off again with various excuses from me being directly connected to the exchange (which I am most definitely not) to I was on a different exchange.
I then recapped to this supervisor on what I already knew about my line, he then went away for a few minutes and came back and said that he could get me on a trial, which is part fibre but not at the full speed.  He couldn't really explain any more but said his info was showing that I would get download speeds of around 10-12 meg, and up of 4-5 meg.
I've actually gone for this option as I can upgrade to Infinity if and when and I am fed up of ADSL2....my line from the exchange is about 2.5k I believe.  But how come people the same distance from the cab as me can order Infinity at 30-40 meg, yet I can only get this 'trial' of 10-12 meg?  And exactly what is this trial called?  I have tried searching the net but unable to come up with any results???

I live 50m from the nearest cabnet, within a 600m circle there is 6 cabnets. Sad thing is i am not being enabled for infinity, everything around us is being upgraded except our road for some odd reason. I had a chat with an openreach eingineer working on one of the cabnets, he said they finished upgrading the designated cabnets. I asked about my road he had a quick look at my address and said there was no plan for that cabnet. Soo upset...
Just to show you guys how close, the cabnet will be staring me in the face
-Red arrow is me
-Green box with black line is infinity cabnets
-Green line infinity enabled roads
-Black box is the cabnet we are on
-Red no infinity
Looks like my only hope is if for some reason BT decide to deploy FTTP which is highly unlikely. Dont blame BT's choice, upgrade the cabnets with most people. Our cabnet has fraction of the people compared to the other cabnet which has 3 estates connected to it.

  • Infinity Available in surrounding streets, but not...

    Hi,
I've done a lot of postcode searching this morning and it looks like most of the streets surrounding mine can get BT Infinity, but I can't.
I've done an online chat and rung customer services, but apparently BT Wholesale aren't able to get any more information out of BT Openreach than the online checker.
I've seen older posts on here about a mod contacting them, but the link in the thread - https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/Surrounded-By-BT-Infinity-But-not-in-my-str... - isn't valid anymore.
Is there anything that can be done nowadays? I'm really hoping it's either a database error or, at worst, I can get hold of a likely date my cabinet will be enabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Photo collage backgrounds and themes available in Elements 8 but not in PE 11?

How can I use the photo collage backgrounds and themes available in Elements 8 but not in Elements 11?

    Hi gcannice,
In PSE11 Adobe moved most of the backgrounds, frames, graphics and themes online. That's why you are not able to see those themes, as those are still not downloaded in your machine.
You will have to keep your Editor launched (with internet connection on) for sometime, in order to see the thumbnails. The online content is differentiated by a blue ribbon on them. Double click on the blue ribboned thumbnail to download the actual content.
Adobe did this to save lot of amout of space on your machine, and make installtion process faster.

In 'System Preferences' the Aperture photos are available in 'screen saver' but not 'desktop'.
    Any ideas?

    Brian,
As far as I know, those two lists come from the same place. I've always seen them both contain the same items. However, they do not look the same for some reason. Under Desktop, I have to open several disclosure triangles before I get to my Aperture photos, but with Screen Saver, they are already open at the top level.
That being said, first things first: have you tried the [Troubleshooting Basics|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805]?

  • BT Infinity available at my exchange, still can't ...

OK I won't bore you all to much with the details of the quest to get an internet connection, but it basically goes like this. I moved address and when I tried to 'move' my BT Infinity service was told it was not available at my new address. I did a check on SamKnows and it said it was availabe. So I've decided to go with Virmin Media as that is the only other high speed provider in this country. After registering and setting up an account I was given various installation dates and the engineer never showed up on any of them, this went on for a whole 2 months until finally I get a call from their installations department telling me the cost is simply too much and demand to low to install services here and this area is now unable to get cable services at all!
A "slow-spot" is an area where you can only get a broadband service with a speed of below 2 Mbps (downstream)
With no other option I have had no other choice but to go and pick up ADSL broadband with an estimated speed of 1.6Mbit down. I figured I'd go for the buisiness package and if I move I can have buisiness Infinity. My post code is N7 8JE, this is in London Zone 2 on Holloway Road which is very central (I can walk to Kings Cross in 20 minuites!) and I cannot get respectable broadband which unfortunately I need for my job. I need an upload of at least 5Mbit and I now have to suffer with something in the region of 200kb. I have done a lot of research and tried all the not known about ISP's but in 90% of cases they use BT's Openreach network and can only offer the same or worse speeds. the other 10% were not available in my area (I've heard that one before)
I did have hope that the 4G network EE might offer a solution... that is until they announced their price plans and data limits... 5GB A MONTH!? for £35.... nope! (2005 called, they want their data plans back).
So as it stands BT come to install their Buisiness phone+ ADSL broadband. Some light on the situation is they said IF it ever becomes available in the area they can put me on the better package free. I was told by the guy I was ordering it from that after the order he'll so a check to see when my cabinate will get Infinity, unfortunately we both forgot and disconnected, and on calling BT back they just do the standard check. I was wondering if anyone can give me some hope and/or advice here on how to improve my situation.
I design game environments and virtual worlds, and I am often uploading and downloading large files along with the engine I use is supposed to require at minimum a 4Mbit connection both ways. I am as you can see a little stuck. Is there any hope?

    Hi Chaoss,
It looks like your on a EO (exchange Only Line).
Unless your exchange is FTTP/H ready then Unfortunatly EO lines are currently unable to have fibre broadband such as BT Infinity due to your line not connecting to a cabinet which would allow FTTC.
Please bear in mind that in some cases it may not be possible to provide FTTC broadband in areas due to:
    • Your phone line may be connected directly to the telephone exchange and not to a local street cabinet - (Exchange Only Line [EO] )
    • Your line may be too far from the local street cabinet to have a stable FTTC broadband service such as BT Infinity service.
    • Your local street cabinet may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
    • We haven't yet got the council's planning permission to do the necessary work at your local street cabinet.
    • Your home may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
    • Your landlord may not have agreed to the fibre infrastructure being provided in your building (for example if you live in a flat).
There are different stages to the development of the fibre infrastructure in the UK.
If you have an EO Line then currently you will not be able to have FTTC broadband as your line isn't connected to a cabinet. In these instances Openreach plan to connect some areas that have EO lines with either FTTP or other fibre technologies in the future.
    This video explains more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=p0qN5XHuI5Q
Also check the Openreach "Power of Fibre" website: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/the-big-build/the-power-of-fibre.aspx
You can keep checking the BT Wholesale Database and BT Infinity website for upto date information as these are updated regularly.
The openreach When and Where website is: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
The Fibre-Optic Broadband Rollout is being managed and done by Openreach for all communication providers/ISPs.
BT Retail (your communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout of fibre broadband.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers

  • BT infinity availability on LSWOR exchange help??....

Hi FTTC is available at my exchange and has been for a while. In worcester park, exchange LSWOR.
BT inifinity website states it's available from the 30th Sept 2011. Did a check on BT.com and it shows it's still not available....
Checked open reach website and it shows my exchange on the list that "now accepts" orders. LINK:
    http://www.openreach-communications.co.uk/superfast/where-and-when/default.htm
Called BT CS and they say just keep on checking.
Does anyone at BT have an idea whats going on?
All the pone lines and cabinets are new where I live as it's a very large new build plot.

    Hi.
Because your exchange is ready for FTTC and is accepting orders means nothing if your local green cabinet which suuplies your line has not been enabled for fibre.
Have you input your telephone number into the BT wholesale checker what does it say about FTTC .
If it says nothing, there is a good chance that it is not available to you.
Do you know where you green BT cabinet is, if so, is there a brand new shiny bigger cabinet in close proxinity to it, it will have air vents in it.
If not, you are unlikely to get Infinity in the near future.
If you do have, and its been there some 2 or 3 months, put your ear beside the vents and listen carefully for humming noise.
if you dont hear humming noise, then you still have some time to go.
If you hear humming noise, then run back to the house, get on the phone and order it.
So to sum up. The exchange being enabled means nothing.
Your local cabinet must be enabled and also up and running.

  • ICloud available for Windows Vista, but not Snow Leopard???

I have Multipal Macs with the Core Duo chipset that can not run LION and no $$$$ to upgrade hardware right now.
WHY does Windows VISTA get iCloud suport but I who can't upgrade to LION do not?
I understand leaving out Leaopard, but SNOW too?

With the removal of Rosetta in Lion and the requirement for Lion in order to use iCloud Macs are no longer an option for poeple that need to be able to run older applications.
Many places bought Macs because they could run just about anything, Windows, Linux, PPC software, even Classic applications via Sheepshaver.
The big issue is the loss of being able to run PPC applications. Freehand, Pagemaker, Framemaker, Quicken to name just a few applications that will never be ported. People and businesses have huge amounts of documents in these formats. It's not stuff that is used regularly but it is files that need to be accessed and sometimes modified.
All these applications can run on a modern Windows machine as can iCloud but not on a Mac running Lion.
While I'm complaining... I setup a bunch of Macs, iOS devices and some PCs all on iCloud today. The loss of email account syncing meant I had to spend hours setting up email on each machine ( each device had just under a dozen accounts on it)  instead of just one machine and having it propagate to all the other devices. Going to be real fun trying to keep email rules in sync on all the Macs.

  • BT Infinity available in my area but can't get it ...

    Hey Everybody,
    I've been reading several threads and came across this one;
    http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/FTTC-Exchange-and-Cabinet-BT-Wholesale/td-p/181321
Unfortunately it appears that they've pulled this from public view so I can't access.
Using the "Find Sold House Prices" tool on Rightmove to obtain House Numbers to Postcodes, i've been able to determine on the BT Infinity checker that some houses in my town can get Infinity.
My exchange is MRMDW (Middlewich) http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/MRMDW
FTTC status: Available in some areas
I logged a call through the normal BT website before somebody contacted me and started talking about Cabinets, I had no idea what a cabinet was and thought he was just trying to fob me off with technical gumf.
Since i've been reading, I want to try and determine where my Cabinet it, and when its likely to be "Fibre Enabled"
Can somebody send me a copy of the list

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 3Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 2Mbps and 5.5Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 3Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 2.5Mbps and 6.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 500Kbps and downstream line speed of 3Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 2.5Mbps and 6.5Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.
    Sounds about right......
I generally get about 6mbps with download speeds of about 730kbps (MAX)

  • What's with TV downloads available if purchased individually but not with Season Pass?

I purchased a season of Smash. The only notification I have received of available downloads are the first two episoides (pilot-1 and eposide 2).  but have not received all available downloads. There are currently 4 more eposides available but iTunes does not indicate I can download them using my Season Pass. BUT if purchased INDIVIDUALLY I can download them now... Begs the question what's the point of a season pass. And how do I get the rest of already released season??
I have automatic download new purchases and do so in HD when available checked.

  • Why waterfall chart is available in Xcelsius 2008 but not in 2011?

    Hello there,
I used to use Xcelsius 2008 engage to create waterfall chart.  But I found the waterfall chart is not available in Xcelsius 2011.  I checked both Xcelsius Presentation Design 2011 & Xcelsius Dashboard Departmental 2011, both edition don't have waterfall chart?!!
why a newer version doesn't have this function?
    any idea is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Gloria,
Dashboard Design 4.0 (Xcelsius presentation design 2011) was coded before and was in the ram-up stage from last year.
Waterfall chart was added as new component in Xcelsius 2008 SP4 which was in Q2 this year.  You would see the chart present in Xcelsius 2011 next release(i.e. Dashboard design 4.1).
    Hope this helps.

  • Fileds available in extract structure but not in Datasource.

    Dear All
I n the extract structure BIW_MARC_S of 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR,  fields like reoder point, safty stock are available but these are not showing up in the data source 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR . How can I bring them in the data source...
    Thanks in advance
    Dinesh Sharma

    Hi Dinesh,
I have the solution for this.
Go to contents of the table ROOSFIELD in SE11, give your data source 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR. These steps are to be done in ECC. There you can find the fields of datasource. Trace for your field safety stock.
Double click on that. you will get the details of that field. In that screen, the selection is shown as A, it means hidden.
You have to change it either P or X in debug mode. Then the required field will be available for your datasource.
Do revert in case of queries.

Hi, I am running a single Exchange 2013 server at CU6, with clients running Outlook 2010 with SP2.
Clients are connected to Exchange without a problem, but Outlook is not updating, even though clients are set to do a full send/receive every 2 minutes. Users are getting new email on their phones but it doesnt arrive in Outlook even after a full 2 minutes.

    Regards, Mike

    Hello,
From your description it sounds like there may be some corruption in the OST file (or maybe for some reason something else has the OST file locked).  Some things to try:
Shutdown Outlook and make sure there are no Outlook.exe's running in task maanger.  Once that's done try to rename the user's OST file.  If you get an error saying the file is locked that's your issue.  You should be able to figure out what
process has a lock on the OST file wiht either something like handles.exe or my personal favorite procmon.
If you can rename the OST file without issue then that would point me to an issue with the OST file.  At that point I would try to create a new Outlook Profile in cached mode and recreate the OST file.
It also might be worth while installing the latest updates for Outlook 2010 if you haven't done so already (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn803988(v=office.14).aspx)
