"Infinity" Because it take an Infinity to get it i...

After a number of years with Sky Broadband I thought I would change back to BT because of the alleged higher speed fibre optic Infinity 2.
The installation was for 31st Oct. Engineer arrived promptly but due to a phone line quality issue decided not to install and have the line checked. So far no problem. Appointment made for 5th Nov and line engineer arrived and fixed the phone line. Great. Then the problems started. 5th 6th, 7th 8th 9th 10th Nov Hanging on the phone for up to 45 mins trying to have my Infinity 2 installed. "someone will get back to you with an appointment" 3 times I was told this never happened. On Friday 9th called once again. Very nice lady sorted out an appointment. Between 08:00 & 13:00 Saturday 10th Nov. Brilliant. Friday afternoon received confirmation call all sorted Engineer will arrived Sat 10th Nov. Fantastic. Saturday arrived my Daughter called me at work BT have arrived. Yippee after two weeks we get back online. I arrive home from work 15:00 no Internet...........why? Check the Hub two blue lights no broadband light. check the connections. Does not look right. Something missing. No Bt Infinity Modem. The muppet who turned up connected the Hub directly to the phone line (ADSL) My daughter informs me that she queried this with the Engineer who said "That's OK just have to wait for activation" Back on the phone 40mins Indian Call Centre (excellent staff) Try re-explaining for the 10th time what my problem is. Ask for UK contact number. Speak for another 30mins with a very nice Scottish Gentleman who has escalated my problem (once again) Someone will contact you 24 to 48 hours. (will not hold my breath) Monday Morning contacting Virgin Media (Genuine Fibre Optic Broadband) Sorry BT All the people I have spoken to over the last 6 days lovely, helpful individuals but BT as a whole remote, complicated, disjointed and fail to deliver. Rant over.

It sounds very much as though the "engineer" who came yesterday was under the impression that he was installing BT ADSL broadband and not BT Infinity.  This leads me to wonder what exactly they had down on your original order !    As others have said, the forum mods here are your best bet in these circumstances and are likely to sort things out soonest.
Sky have been offering FTTC since around June of this year ( I researched al the alternative ISPs before I placed my order.)  However they still use exactly the same kit at your end and the installation is still performed by Openreach. The only difference is how your broadband is routed once it reaches the exchange.
