• Time Capsule blocking one web site.

My Time Capsule is plugged into several PC's and several MAC's. I can't get to my work email web site only with anything that is attached or connected wirelesly to the Time Capsule. If I hardwire a computer directly to my cable modem I can access the site. I've had the Time Capsule for about a month and a half now and it just started blocking this site about three days ago. Any suggestions?

Having this same issue. All sites work fine except for one: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org . I've restored the Time Capsule to default settings, use DHCP to auto config the TC from the modem, same problem. If I plug directly from mac into cable modem, the site works.
The IP resolves fine. I can traceroute to the IP, can ping it, but when I try telnet'ing to the IP on port 80, connection times out. No TC, it works fine. Grrr... really frustrating.

• How do I block a popup window that I have allowed to open on Firefox once? I now have the popup blocker set to block all sites, but the popup still opens every time I open Firefox or open (sometimes) a new tab.

How do I block a popup? I allowed this popup to open once. Now I have set the popup blocker to block all sites but this popup still opens every time I open Firefox and sometimes (usually) when I open a new tab.
I Have stopped and restarted Firefox multiple times.
I have rebooted the computer.
I have set the tools/options/content/block pop-up windows/exceptions to block all sites (no exceptions).
I have no other issues with Firefox.
I have Adblock plus (with (1) subscription) installed
I am currently using Firefox version 4.0 on Windows7 Ultimate.

Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Here are some other things to check:
(1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: How to fix preferences that won't save.
(2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
(3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
(4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Hopefully that cures it.

• Need to block certain site!

Guys, I desperately need to block one shitty site, called "www.livejasmin.com", which always jumps on my desktop after clicking to "view" a certain picture on a photo hosting or other site. I have set "blocking pop-ups", but it doesn't help a bit with this shitty "livejasmine"! I so tired to close down hundreds of pop-up "livejasmins", you can't even imagine! Plese, please help me to block those bastards once and for good, or I'll go kill somebody! P.S. Sometimes those suckers' address looks like "http://creatives.livejasmin.com/puw2/i/im/imagebam/rus/index.php?psid=ed_imbamw2ru&pstool=149_13656_151&pstour=t1&psprogram=REVS&site=jsm" and so on...

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />

• In XP Infinity Blocks are missing when logged in as a user

On XP Computers when I am logger on as adminstrator there is no
problem.  When my students are logged on as users, some of the
Infinity Blocks are missing.
For example on Ch 2.1 Sec 2.2 lab, the ITOGGLE Block is a question
mark.  I can search and find it, but there is no way to add it the
VAB progam in place the question mark.
Can you help me out?  Thanks,

This problem is has to do with "security" (AKA file permissions) for some of the VAB files. I am not aware of what may have caused the problem. As the USER check to see what problem files exist. Then as the ADMINISTRATOR check the "Security" tab in the file's properties and you'll find that the USER is unable to modify/read/see/etc that file. Changing the setting to match one of the "OK" DLL block files should correct the problem. Alternatively you can run the command line script that the installer runs: cacls "C:\Program FIles\Hyperception\VABINF" /T /E /G Everyone:F Assuming you installed in the default directory, you should be able to drop to a command prompt and issue this command. It will scroll the name of every file in the given directory and all subdirectories. It should reset every file.

• Multipe discussion boards within one site collection, each with their own email?

So we use several list servs and these have become an issue and the data is lost discussion based on you cannot collectively house and search for information and attachments.
I have a few questions that maybe you could help in my research:
1) Is SharePoint discussions capable of having multiple discussion boards in one site collection, each with their own email address to replace the function of a list serv (so at a minimum content can be organized, with attachments available, and replies
can be seen/sent via email.)
2) From an attachment perspective; what is the best way to ensure virus blocking in the above scenario IF the above scenario is able to be done
3) Is there OOTB functionality here or is there a recommended third party product? (I am not looking to build out a custom solution if at all possible to avoid that)
any thoughts or input here would be greatly appreciated!
~Kat

1) - Yes, discussion boards are just specially formatted lists and yes, each discussion board can have their own email address.
2) -  Blocked file types can be configured in CA and I believe that SP will strip out any emails with blocked file types attached (not 100% on that, probably 95% sure)
3) All out of the box (assuming SP will block the attachments as I assumed in #2

• EA4500 blocking one IP on its own!

Somehow my EA4500 has started blocking one specific IP .
I can access that IP if I plug into my modem directly, but not when I access the net via the rounter.
The IP is for a website I manage!
Anyone have any ideas about what to do? Do I need to reinstall the firmware? Will the config file contain the blocking if I reinstall the firmware and restore the config?
I do not have any sites blocked according to the router interface.
Any help/advice appreciated.

Solved!
Go to Solution.

The ip address in question is a goodaddy shared hosting IP with over 6700 different domain names besides mine hosted on it .
I did a search for other domains on the same ip and cannot access any of the other domains either, so it is not my site blocking me.
I can ping and access and loginto the website fine when connected to the modem only, but not when the router is inline. I'm pretty sure my ip address to access the internet is the same whether I am connected to the modem directly or via the router. I would have to reboot the  modem connection to get a new ip and I generally have the same ip from my isp for as long as I dont reboot the modem.
I have run through it all with godaddy support and with my isp and the router is the only variable in it.
But thanks for the suggestions.
I wonder if the firmware of the router got corrupted somehow to block one external ip? It blocks that ip for web browsers, my ftp program and the routers own ping and traceroute functions! When I do a traceroute it stops at the second hop which is an internal to the router ip address (172 block), I believe its firewall. I tried turning off the firewall, but no change.

• SP2013: Can a subsite owner block the site collection owner?

I read some discussion telling me Sharepoint allow subsite owner can block parent site owner. But in my test, the Site Collection owner ALWAYS have FULL PERMISSION on subsite. Is it true?
I have tested in my farm. I login as one Site collection owner (A), create a subsite, then break the subsite permission inheritance. Assign someone (B) as subsite owner. Then I login as the subsite owner (B). Remove everyone but me (B) in the subsite
permission lists.
However, the SC owner (A) can still change the permission for this subsite. I use "check permission" to check against A. A have every permission although he is not belong to any permission group or permission level.  Is it default behaviour?

It is true, you can't block or reduce the permissions assigned to the site collection owner.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Blocking one website.  Is there a way to do it?

Hi all
I need help. I am addicted to one particular website and I am trying to break that addiction to it. I just find myself spending alot of time on there and will power is not working and I could be doing better things with my internet time. I did a search for this topic on this forum and there only seems to be one way to do it, but it also blocks other websites as well. From my understanding, in Parental Controls, you'd have to type in the "acceptable" websites and but this is more for children who you can restrict to only viewing a handful of sites. Is there a way to do the reverse, instead of blocking out the entire internet, I just want to block ONE DARN SITE! lol Please help if anyone knows how to do this. And no, it's not a pornographic, gambling or MySpace addiction. hehe.
Thanks guys for any advice
CJ

It just occurred to me that maybe there is a program I can buy, like that one you referred me to Christopher, so that I can type in a subject, for example, gambling and it would block any website with gambling. Can I do that with Safari or any program that is cheap that I can buy? That would be so cool. At this point, I think there probably is no way to just block one particular website or URL. But if I can find a way to filter out certain websites, that would be cool and that would solve my problem as well.

• How to Set Up Content Blocker to Block All Sites Except Those That Are Listed?

How to Set Up Content Blocker to Block All Sites Except Those That Are Listed by Firefox?

One other item I thought I would pass along...
I noticed that the NVG589 gets terribly confused if a device behind it isn't setup properly first to be a static address.
Here's the behavior: Say you have a router of your own and you intend to give it one of the addresses from your static IP block. You decide to set it up first and don't make the changes initially in the 589 to force it to be a static IP of some kind-- whether in the private or the public block. You configure the router in this case with DHCP. Your router starts handing out addresses in its own IP range however your configured it.
But look what the 589 thinks is happening: it sees the DHCP client name associated with the same MAC address changing constantly. It makes entries for each different client name in its device list, sometimes aging out, sometimes not.
Now trying to save the private IP will result in a "missing data" error. Worse, trying to change things to a public static IP will result in similar messages about the IP being in the wrong range.
The same issue can also occur if the device was setup statically in the private range and you try to change it to a public static IP.
The only way to fix this:
1) If you intend to advertise the router on an IP from your static block, disconnect all devices from the router and the RG, except for the router you want to setup. Wait for the RG to see them as "offline" in the device list. Alternatively, if you intend to setup another device or server on a Static IP, make sure it is the only device connected to the RG.
2) Switch the IP allocation to "Public"
3) Renew the lease on the device
4) Go into the IP Allocation page and fix the IP to one of the public static IPs from your pool
5) Reconnect all devices.
Generally, the best practice is to setup each static IP device before connecting any others to the RG.
