Infinity direct from Exchange

Hi
My exchange Brundall EABRU has recently gone live on FTTC but I still cannot order Infinity.
I noticed in the Infinity FAQ that you sometimes cannot get Infinity if your line comes directly from the exchange and fear I fall into that category as my house is 400m from the exchange.
What if anything does BT plan to do to get Infinity or a high speed equivalent to properties fed direct from exchanges.
I saw a mention of something quicker than ADSL 2+ in one posting but can't find it.

At the moment Exchange Only (EO) lines can only support Adsl Broadband (ie ADSLMax which is upto 8mbps or ADSL2+ which is upto 20mb) unless your exchange is FTTP/H ready (Fibre to the Premises/Home)
Unfortunatly most EO lines are currently unable to have fibre broadband such as BT Infinity (FTTC Version) due to your line not connecting to a cabinet which would allow FTTC.
Also BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP who operates this forum) does not have much say as to when and if you will be able to get FTTC or FTTP/H based broadband such as BT Infinity.
The rollout of fibre broadband (FTTC or FTTP/H) is being planned, managed and done by Openreach for all communication provider/ISP. BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout and planning of fibre broadband.
Openreach plan to upgrade EO lines in the future to allow access to Fibre based broadband
Please bear in mind that in some cases it may not be possible to provide FTTC broadband in areas due to:
• Your phone line may be connected directly to the telephone exchange and not to a local street cabinet - (Exchange Only Line [EO] )
• Your line may be too far from the local street cabinet to have a stable FTTC broadband service such as BT Infinity service.
• Your local street cabinet may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• We haven't yet got the council's planning permission to do the necessary work at your local street cabinet.
• Your home may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
• Your landlord may not have agreed to the fibre infrastructure being provided in your building (for example if you live in a flat).
There are different stages to the development of the fibre infrastructure in the UK.
If you have an EO Line then currently you will not be able to have FTTC broadband as your line isn't connected to a cabinet. In these instances Openreach plan to connect some areas that have EO lines with either FTTP or other fibre technologies in the future.
This video explains more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=p0qN5XHuI5Q
Also check the Openreach "Power of Fibre" website: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/the-big-build/the-power-of-fibre.aspx
You can keep checking the BT Wholesale Database and BT Infinity website for upto date information as these are updated regularly.
The openreach When and Where website is: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
**The Fibre-Optic Broadband Rollout is being managed and done by Openreach for all communication providers/ISPs.
BT Retail (your communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout of fibre broadband.**
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

  • Upgrade directly from Exchange Server 2010 SP1 to Exchange Server 2010 SP3

    Hi,
We have current setup with Exchange Server 2010 SP1 ( DAG & CAS Array with WNLB).
Can we upgrade directly from Exchange Server 2010 SP1 to
    Exchange Server 2010 SP3 . ?
    Thanks in Advanced.
    Regards,Ali

    Hi Ali,
Yes, you can. Please upgrade your Exchange 2010 SP1 server roles in the following order: Client Access, Hub Transport, Unified Messaging, Mailbox, Edge Transport. What's more, please note that when you install a Service Pack or update rollup on a server
that's a DAG member, several services will be stopped during the installation, including all Exchange services and the Windows Cluster service.

  • Can we fetch the email  value directly from exchange by reconciliation

    Hi all,
My query is when we provision a user to exchange usng OIM ; in the exchange process form we do not need to mention e-mail but we do have to mention the alias .
So my thought is that the alias would be sent exchange then it would be changed to e-mail.
In our case I need to reconcile the e-mail from the exchnage and compare it to user profile - email , if there is a mismatch then I would like to update it in exchange.
Can anyone suggest how to reconcile an email from exchange to OIM.

Scenario one you can implement using entity adapters. (one for update and one for insert for Exchange resource object)
Depending on how you have set up your trusted reconciliation you might end up in a situation where any changes done through this process will be overwritten if the same user is changed in Pplsoft.
Scenario two I have implemented with custom adapters a number of time. I don't know how flexible the "Create Mailbox" function is so it might be possible to do this with the out of the box functionality. I have not used the connector recently so there might be some new interesting functionality available.
How does PplSoft know what email address the user has? Is it filled in by the HR person or is this information somehow copied from the Exchange system.
My experience is that that you need to start by whiteboarding all processes on a business level (where is the information born?, how does the information flow?, what is the trusted source for each pierce of information?)
Once you know how you would like the information to flow in all key scenarios you can start looking at how to implement this on the technical level. OIM is very flexible and you can get it to do almost anything but step one is always to know what you want to do.

  • Ever worsening Infinity Speed from Exchange to Mod...

I had BT Infinity installed in the summer, in June and did regular speed tests which were getting me approx 15 - 16 MBPS DL and 2.5 MBPS uplioad, from the exchange to the modem
5 months later, I now get 7 MBPS DL and about 1 MBPS Upload
Thh BT speed check say I could get between 20 and 26 MPS - ive never believed that, and was happy with the 15-16 I was getting, but being down at 7 is pathetic.
Nothing has changed. Anyone any idea why?

Ok - so an update to this:
i just received a call from BT, who told me that regarding my issue they have identified a fault in the exchange which is being worked on, and my normal service would be restored by 8 PM tomorrow. It wont require an engineer to visit my home (as expected).
When I then pushed her for info on what the fault was, she said there was some planned work going on in the exchange and it was affecting lots of other people as well. Im annoyed I didnt ask more questions abot precisely what she meant by "exchange" in the context she said it.
So clearly, she is just reading some generic notes from a helpdesk system and wouldnt be in possession of any particular info to my fault. I asked what would happen if the service wasnt restored by 8 PM, she just said it would be.
So, i wonder whether there is some deliberate work being done by BT to manage demand / capacity, and the speed was being kept lower than it could be during this planned work on purpose.
Either way im intrigued to see what happens tomorrow at 8PM. Im:
30 % expecting it to be fixed
    50% expecting no change
20% expecting it to be worse
Bearing in mind they referred to planned work, I'll wait to see what happens then phone BT asking for a partial refund of the broadband part of my bill. Might get £5 i suppose!

Will you please assist here :
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'exchange',

  • Exchange Integration: Which features accessed directly from Lync Client, which via Lync Server

    Hi
I'm wondering which Features of the Lync Server 2013 <-> Exchange 2013 Integration are accessed directly from the Lync 2013
Client (direct Access from the Lync Client to the Exchange Server) and which Features are accessed from the Lync Client via the Lync Server (Access from the Lync Client to the Lync Server to the Exchange Server).
For example: Are Outlook contacts aquired directly from the Exchange Server when searched in the Lync Client.
    Thanks,
    Michael

Yes, Outlook contacts acquired directly from the Exchange Server when searched in the Lync Client.Integration between Lync and Exchange will give many features as following:
    Voice mail.
    Lync Archiving Integration.
    Unified Contact Store.
    Lync Meeting Scheduling from OWA.
    High resolution photos.

  • Migrating Users from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 Without redirection through exchange 2013.

We have all our users and mailboxes on Exchange 2007 and I have introduced two Exchange 2013 servers in my organization and both have mailbox and CAS server installed on them.
With Exchange 2007 server, I had not modified any of the internal and external url/uri and had stayed with the defaults.
For migration most of the documents are suggesting of changing the default internal URL and Auto Discover Service internal URI values.
In my case, I want to migrate all the users and mailbox (everything that is on Exchange 2007) form 2007 to 2013 and decommission exchange 2007 completely from our organization.
I am in the phase of transferring users from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 and do not want to change any settings on the existing 2007 servers.
I have created new dns entry mailx.abc.com with two IPs of both exchange 2013 and changed the Outlook Anywhere internal URL on both Exchange 2013 server to mailx.abc.com.
So by doing these, I think all existing clients will still connect to exchange 2007 and after moving their mailbox they will be connect to exchange 2013.
In short I am not redirecting or using 2013 as proxy for 2007 clients and clients whose mailbox is on exchange 2013 will directly connect to 2013 server.
Questions are, Is this the right way to migrate all the users to Exchange 2013?
Will it affect the operation of existing Exchange 2007 server?

Read the below blog on Client Connectivity in Exchange co-existence. There can't be better blog than this on this topic.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx
Clients connect to Exchange from Internal-Outlook, External-Outlook, Web & Active Sync.
For Internal the configuration that you have mentioned should work as clients would get Autodiscover information from Active Directory (SCP) and get connected to right server.
However, for external connectivity it makes sense to use External URL on Exchange 2013 servers (keep the Exchange exposed to Internet), configure legacy URL for exchange 2007 and use Exchange 2013 external URL for mailboxes that are Exchange 2007 and Exchange
    2013 for standardization.
Refer article for configuring URLs -

  • Exchange active sync cannot connect to server after migration mailbox user from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 coexistence

Hello, everyone, my name is rafl
I have a problem with exchange 2013 active sync.
I have installed exchange 2013 coexistence with legacy exchange 2007, I have to migrate user mailboxes: [email protected] from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013.
but any problem with active sync connection on the mobile device after moving mailbox user. I reconfigure the exchange ActiveSync external connection domain (latest.domain.com) on mobile device replacing legacy exchange ActiveSync external connection domain
    (legacy.domain.com)
the process of moving mailboxes successfully without error.
Access OWA for exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 is running normally
access mail from Outlook running normally
Certificate request has been installed and has no problem with it
The OWA virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
The autodiscover virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
ActiveSync virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
user mailboxes are still on exchange 2007 is not problematic.
only problem with Exchange Active Sync on mobile devices, where I set up an email with android, iphone, windows phone. the error message: cannot connect to the server.
but, if I create a new user and create user mailboxes directly in exchange server 2013, ActiveSync can run without error on mobile device, access through OWA, MsOutlook, Outlook Anywhere also run normally.
only the results of user migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 which is troubled with exchange ActiveSync connection.
any ideas for this problem, and what should I check on the exchange server ..?

i have run the activesync test connectivity and get some error :
Testing TCP port 443 on host domain.co.id to ensure it's listening and open.
The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.

I have allowed access to port 443 (https) and 80 (http) on the firewall and re-run testconnectivity, but still with the same results. if I enable active sync for users who created directly in Exch 2013 there is no problem with the ActiveSync, just a problem

  • ICal Syncs From Exchange, but not To Exchange -- funky Console error.

I'm the IT guy troubleshooting a user's MacBook Pro 15" (not unibody) with Snow Leopard. The Mac users in my company have been having near-constant trouble with their email and calendars almost since the day they switched, first with Exchange 2003/Entourage and now with Exchange 2007/Snow Leopard (guess how I feel about those "Enterprise Ready" ads!) -- random show-stopping issues like this have plagued them and I delete and resync something almost weekly. (By comparison, the hundreds of Outlook users on my server have never needed to delete and resync. Blackberry users occasionally, iPhone/WinMo users almost never.)
Calendar items in iCal don't get synced up to my Exchange 2007 server, however creating an item in Outlook Web Access (i.e. directly on the server) get synced down to iCal just fine. I've tried refreshing, etc.
In Console, there are repeated error messages saying "save failed" ... "Items cannot be deleted from alarms." Unfortunately it seems I'm the first person known to Google to have this error (yay!) hence the post here. Your advice in resolving the issue is appreciated because I'd rather not wipe his iCal and resync from Exchange, given that an unknown number of appointments haven't yet synced up to the server and thus data would be lost.
Below is the full error message from Console, which repeats once every minute. The only differences between errors are the UserInfo which appears to increment. The appointment in question, "Call Adam Hird" from 9:00 to 9:15 on 11/19/09, looks fine in iCal except that it appears to have been renamed "Call with Adam Hird" with a location (a 10-digit phone number with hyphens) added (which iCal might not like, since the appointment name is just followed by a long dash "--" and nothing. Removing this doesn't appear to solve anything.) and the time changed to 9:00-9:30. It doesn't appear to fix itself when I change its time to 10:00 (again I don't want to delete anything since that might "fix" the problem without actually solving it.)

Despite my reservations, the user needed his calendar to sync ASAP, so I deleted the Adam Hird appointment. Then I thought "might be a good idea to back it up so I can help Apple Discussions troubleshoot!" so I pressed Cmd+Z to undo the deletion. Apparently this unstuck the clog-- the test appointments that weren't syncing up to Exchange deleted themselves (oops) and the Adam Hird appointment reverted back to its Exchange state (9:00-9:15, no location). Further tests show that syncing now works fine with no Console errors.
Any ideas? Consider this a bug report, I guess...

  • Migration from Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2010

    Hello,
We are planning a single server migration from Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2010.  I'll be building the 2010 server on a 2008 R2 box. My question is, can I make the jump directly to Exchange 2010 SP3, or do I need to install exchange 2010 SP1 first
    - migrate from 2007 SP3, and then install SP3 for exchange 2010 later?
    Thanks,
    Eric

    @ Hasan
    Dimdik - TAT,
That's not correct at all, you can migrate exchange server 2007 SP3 and RollUp Update 10 minimum to Exchange Server 2013 with minimum CU1.

  • Conditional Routing of emails from Exchange 2007

I have a requirement to be able to control the routing of emails from Exchange 2007 based upon the sender email address.
For example, an exchange 2007 email system has 2 accepted domains, domain1.com and domain2.com.  The system uses 2 external SMTP gateways used for sending all outbound email (gateway1 & gateway2)
If [email protected] emails [email protected] I want it to travel via gateway1
If [email protected] emails [email protected] I want it to travel via gateway2.
All mailboxes are on a single mailbox server cluster, and there are 2 load balanced Hub Transport servers.
I have looked into various ways of dealing with this and have had no success.  I looked at transport rules, but I dont believe it is possible to specify the next hop.  I've also looked into setting permissions on the send connectors, but it is not clear exactly what permissions I need to set, or whether it will work.
The only solution I can see is to forward all outbound emails to a separate SMTP gateway (such as postfix) which supports this kind of functionality.  However I would rather solve the problem using Exchange.
    Any suggestions?

This is not possible natively in Exchange but you can create your own transport agent and hook it with Exchange to configure conditional routing. You may try posting a query in Development forum to get help from developers on writing a transport agent.

  • Questions about upgrading from Exchange 2010 RTM to Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3

I am preparing to perform an maintenance upgrade on our current Exchange 2010 Server, to Service Pack 3 (and any post-SP3 roll ups), but I have a couple questions about the process.
    Current Exchange Server details:
    Exchange 2010 Standard
Version: 14.0 (Build 639.21) - from Exchange Management Console
Version: 14.0.702.4000 - from Outook client
Active Directory forest and domain levels: Windows 2008 R2 native
    The questions I have are:
    1.  Can I assume that because it's version 10.0.702.4000 I am on Exchange Server 2010 RTM Update Rollup 4?
    2.  Can Exchange 2010 Standard RTM be patched directly to Service Pack 3, or would I need to perform incremental patches (i.e. SP1, SP2, etc.) before going to SP3?
    3.  Do I need to manually perform the AD domain schema prep before applying Service Pack 3, or will the Service Pack 3 update process automatically handle the modifications of the AD schema?

    Hi,
Here are my answers you can refer to:
    1. Firstly, I’d like to explain , we can use connection status to check our Exchange server version from Outlook client:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/determine-the-version-of-microsoft-exchange-server-my-account-connects-to-HA010117038.aspx
And I check my version from both EMC and Outlook client. It’s same.
    2. We can directly update RTM version to SP3 , and the update will take an additional 30 minutes or longer per database.
    3. Since Exchange 2010 SP3 makes updates to the Active Directory schema, we need prepare AD domain schema. However, it will automatically prepare AD and the domain when you install the update.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

  • Pb for rerouting mail in a migration from Exchange 5.5 to OCS 10g R2

    Hi,
I try to migrate from Exchange 5.5 to OCS 10g R2.
I meet a pb when I want to migrate an account, rerouting is active.
The routing alias is created in Exchange (user_es902migration@ocshostname) as well the delegation rule.
BUT no rewriting rule is created is the OCS server, so the mail I send to this user on Exchange are well received on Exchange but are rejected on OCS.
    Any help is welcome .

Try to use the "project from WAR file" or "project from existing source" option in JDeveloper and point to either a WAR file produced from Netbeans or the actual source code.
You then might need to set up libraries and project content as well as web content under the project properties in JDeveloper.
This how-to shows how we did it with another tool but the general directions should be similar:

  • Help with Moving Emails from Exchange Server 2013

    Hi Team,
Help, I need a solution on how to copy incoming and outgoing emails together with their attachments and was hoping someone could help with a solution I need to find for this problem.
    1) I have a need to copy all incoming and outgoing emails & attachments from Exchange Server 2013 mailboxes on a daily basis, so they can be archived into an external 3rd party database overnight.
I believe that the first step is that I can set up another Exchange mailbox, through Journaling to receive these emails.
Is there any way that these emails can then be moved direct from the Journaling mailbox that I have created, to a shared folder on the network? If so what format would they be sent out as e.g. .msg, .ems and what is the process?
Failing that, could they be sent to an Outlook client (not another Exchange mailbox) on the network and stored in a .pst file? (I have a program that will export them from .pst)
I would really appreciate any assistance that you can provide in this matter.
    Regards, Greg.

    Hi,
You can set auto-forward on journaling mailbox and auto-forward emails to another mailbox. Why don’t directly archive the emails from the journaling mailbox “an external
    3rd party database”.

  • Recover mailbox from Exchange server 2010 information store to exchange server 2013

I have a big issue. I have a correct exchange server 2010 where the active directory is corrupt but the information store is good.
I would like to recover a couple of mailboxes to an exchange server 2013.
Can anyone give me a detailed walk through of how I can accomplish this?
    Thank in advance

    Well if your AD is messed up that leaves you in a jam for sure because;
    1. Database portability ONLY works within the same organization, so you cannot just install a new 2010 server in a completely different forest and then move the DB in hopes that DB portability will work.
    2. As Ed said you should build a new Exchange 2010 server and use portability but it has to be in the same organization.
    3. Here is a good article on how to accomplish
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-database-portability-disaster-recovery/
    4. Now if you by chance have an AD backup before it went south you could build a separate network with same names etc just keep it isolated from the production server and then restore AD to that environment and you could then use DB portability.
That said if you don't have any other machines to work with then you are in a bit of a pickle and will have to use a 3rd party product to get to that data within the 2010 DB.   We make a product that can do this (DigiScope), however if you don't
have any budget to handle its a non-issue.
The only other thing you could consider is to restore your AD from a previous point in time, however BE VERY CAREFUL if you consider this since it could cause more issues then you have now.
BTW if you AD is messed up, where are you putting this new 2013 server?
Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->
    2007 --> 2010 --> 2013 with Lucid8's
    DigiScope
