Infinity: DSL light off

We had Infinity activated last Thursday (21/10/10). It worked well with a good speed (approx 30Mb/s sync).
However this morning it is not working. The DSL light on the Openreach modem is now off. The connections seem ok and there are no problems reported for the exchange on the service status website.
Obviously a call to the technical support is necessary though after their complete inability to sort out problems we had last year with our old ADSL I am not looking forward to this! Before I phone is there anything I should do such as power cycling the modem. I've not done so yet as the engineer who fitted it told me it had to be left on for the first two weeks for the line to stabilise. I guess this is irrelevant now!
Thanks very much to anyone who can offer advice!
Mark

Now into 3rd day of no Infinity broadband.
DSL light on modem has come back on. So hopefully repair of the fault is in progress. However the BB light on the HomeHub is still orange. Resetting doesn't help. So still no internet.
At least it's only 8 hours until the 48 hours are up since the fault was passed onto Wholesale so there should be a phonecall to update. I'll have a moan if there's no call!

  • *High Speed Enhanced - DSL Light keeps going off and on, Losing Internet *

    Issues
My DSL light starts flickering and then my internet light goes off. The DSL then comes back on but internet does not reconnect. This happens 3-4 times each hour.
My max download speed is capped at 3MB even though Im available to have 5mb
This has only happened recently i was able to get consistent 5.8 MB download for 9 months.
I've had 2 technicians come in to check my line speed and it both clocked in at 3 MB download. They thought my line i was on was over capacity so they asked them to switch my port. But still seeing the same issue.
Im out of options here, I have a 3rd technician scheduled but im not confident this is going to get fixed. I guess last resort is for them to check the physical line to see if there is something wrong from central office to my residence?I  have to constantly turn off and turn back on the router to get the internet to come back on. This is incredibly frustrating when Im working.  Any suggestions here?
This has been going on for the past month and no end in sight.
    Any help is appreciated.
Download speed various from 1.5 to 3.1 everytime the DSL light goes out the Down and Up changes.

Your noise levels are terrible, something is going on with the line. Your downstream and upstream speeds are not even at max bitrate. For a 3Mbps line, which is the least you should be running on a range extender card, you should be at 3360/864. If the DSL drops out you'll have to reset the modem to get the Internet light back on, either that or logging into 192.168.1.1 and manually reconnecting the line. Bottom line you have an issue with the line, call Verizon and get a service tech out ASAP.

  • DSL light not on - Infinity down

    Hi,
      can anyone help -
I have a Home Hub 3 and Openreach modem box and have not had broadband since late Saturday.
The broadband light goes orange then off and the Openreach modem has power but no DSL light?
Looks like the modem box is power cycling.
Any previous issues for this fault?
Tried restarts and powercycles but still the same conditions.
    thank   Acha

  • Openreach Modem DSL light

My BT Infinity 2 has been working flawlessley since it was installed last year but suddenly last night I lost my internet link and its not returned all day.
My modem does not have a green DSL light. The power and LAN lights also cycle on and off - its like the modem automatically keeps reseting every few seconds.
I've tried resetting the modem, unplugging everything but can't get a connection.
BT say there is no problem on the line and have booked me an engineer call for Tuesday.
I hope its just a bad modem (version 3B) and they will replace.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

    Sounds like a faulty modem

  • Intermittent connection dsl light flashing on mode...

I had a line issue fixed last week after a voice/data outage, after this my infinity connection worked for a few days, then I noticed the dsl light flashing on the hub every few hours. This has progressed to pretty much no connection, if I reboot the fiber modem ocasionally I will get a connection for 20 minutes then it will fail again. I've tried a spare fiber modem which worked for about 5 hours then started displaying the same symptom of the dsl light flashing. The voice part of the line is working fine with no crackling or drops. The line checker said everything was fine when I first tested it so is this likely to be another wiring issue, a problem with the hub/modem (I understand they can have thermal problems?) or something external?
Any thoughts or things to try appreciated before I brave another call to the helpdesk....

Two modems with the same issue, this there must be a BroadBand fault.

  • Linksys WAG120N DSL light problem

    Hi!
Yesterday I bought the  Linksys Wireless-N Home ADSL2+ Modem Router WAG120N (Annex-A version). I configured the modem/router and it was working very well. Today I was surfing the internet just fine and I left my computer for a few minutes, when I came back I noticed that there is no internet connection. The internet light on the modem was no longer on, and the DSL one was blinking. I turned off the device and then turned it back on but the issue was still present. I tried restoring the factory default settings and configuring the modem again but nothing seems to help (resetting the modem, turning off every device connected to it and restarting the modem/router). The DSL light keeps blinking, turns off for a couple seconds and then starts blinking again. The internet light only appears when I restart the modem and it flashes red just after turning the device on. I thought that there may be an issue with my ISP, but I connected my previous modem and it works just fine. I have no idea what's going on. What's really weird is that it was working just fine yesterday and today nothing seems to help. Do you guys have any ideas what may be the problem here?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

fter spending hour's/days/weeks on reconfiguring/reflashing, checked with ISP side etc. I read numourous blogs/message, contacted Cisco/Linksys . Even I reflashed with thrid party firmware like Tomato, OpenWRT. Nothing worked. Even every message says better to throw this useless product.
Finally, I make a decisision to work on two options.
    1. reflash with router with backward version - V1.00.12.(Just google you would find it from unauthorised sources)
    2. If it doesn't work then throw the product in dustbin.
Believe me the option 1 worked and from last 2 weeks, I haven't faced any disconnection. And every device Xbox, Smart TV, smart phone is working with expected internet speed.
I would keep this configuration/firmware till it works and if same issue occur then opt for option 2.
I would recommend everyone to opt for option 1. It would really solve your problem. Otherwise you know the second option very well.
    All the best.

  • Constant disconnects with flashing DSL light

Hi, my Infinity 2 connection has been unusable since last Friday 8th Feb.  I get at the most a few minutes of up time then the connection drops with a flashing DSL light on the Openreach Modem.
I have tried power cycling the hub and modem, changed the cable to the socket and also relocated the modem.
I logged the call with BT on the 9th and on the 11th they marked the job as fixed, but it isnt.
This situation is very frustrating as I rely on my connection heavily for home and vpn to work but there seems to be no progress in a resolve.

I phoned  the helpline in the end and the guy the other end actually did a line test and found an issue.  Apparently an engineer is booked but cannot come out until 21st Feb!!!  That will be nearly 2 weeks downtime.  I have not had the appointment in confirmed in black or white which is not reassuring either.
Really annoyed as when I had adsl with 02 any issue (which was very rare) got resolved either next day or within the promised 3 days.
I also didn't have to chase them to resolve it and they Defo didn't mark a job as fixed until it actually was.
Not very impressed by BT at all.  I have phone, Bt Vision and Infinity 2 with them so I pay them enough every month.

  • Orange Broadband light on HH3 but Green DSL light ...

I lost both my phone line and broadband on Monday morning, after about 10 minutes the phone line started working again but the Infinity stayed down.
All the lights on the Openreach modem are Green [Power/Dsl/Lan1] but the Broadband light on the Home Hub is flashing Orange.
I logged a fault with BT and they got me to reset all equipment, check cabling etc etc
Still the same and still unable to access the internet.
A new HH3 was sent to me, but when I fitted it, the same problem existied, but this time the Broadband light on the hub was solid Orange.
BT have now arranged for an engineer to visit on Friday 14th Dec
Infinity has been in and working for about 3 months now.
Has anyone come across this fault before, and my question is, if the hub isn't at fault, could this be an authentication issue that could be resolved remotely with out having to wait another 2 days for the engineers visit.
    Thank you
    Dave

  • Suddenly No DSL light

So I have had infinity 2 up and running for about 4 months. Spot on so far. Today however, no internet all of a sudden. Looked into it (followed the resolution wizards etc. and trawled this forum) – and saw that I had in common with others, no DSL light on the modem…. Initially though, based on what I had read that, that it was some sort of overheating issue and so unplugged for several hours. No joy on plugging in afterwards.
I have 2 lines (one ADSL one Infinity) so I tried to work out if it was the modem or external factors, but nothing was conclusive. ADSL modem in infinity socket – no DSL, infinity modem in ADSL socket – no DSL (I guess that is to be expected?). There are no current issues in my location and the only other factor to mention is that I had a fault on the line that was effecting the phone (infinity was fine) – a BT engineer came and resolved the issue which turned out to be a dodgy connection in the cabinet. Could be related or a coincidence….
Any advice? I waited 2 weeks for the phone to get sorted, not sure I can have no internet for 2 weeks!
    Thanks in advance

What about the other lights on the modem, are they lighting up as they should.
    See link for lights.

  • Flashing DSL light and no internet since yesterday

I've been remarkably pleased with my BT broadband since it was installed a while back, a few hiccups with slow speeds very occasionally but on the whole very happy. Someone did warn me that I'd be very happy until I had a problem and then I would go crazy again, but am trying to avoid that!
Basically, when I left my house for work yesterday my broadband was working fine, when I got in yesterday evening I had a flashing DSL light which I've had ever since, and am trying to make do with the meagre allowance I have left on my phone and using 3G hotspot for now for urgent internet related stuff,
I've tried the BT fault finder, which says there is no network fault, and tried the broadband troubleshooter, which basically said I wasn't using a BT Home Hub so would I like to pay through the nose for a BT expert...  I'm thinking there must be some communication down the line for it to be able to tell I'm not using a Home Hub?
I'm using a netgear wireless router.  I've rebooted it, still get flashing light.  Have switched off and left for 10 minutes in case of some kind of overheat - still get flashing light.  Have checked wires and cables all firmly connected.
What are my next steps, I'm trying to avoid helpline hell until I've exhausted any other reasonable options.
Is a router likely to suddenly go wrong, or is it more likely a BT fault?
    Thanks.

have you tried connecting to test socket with a new filter to see it that helps?
as phone works try quiet line test  dial 17070 option 2  should be quiet and best with corded phone

  • Modem DSL Light flashes

    Hello
I posted a few days ago about my PPPOE connection dropping on my Apple router around once or twice per day.
I have since noticed that when this happens, the DSL light on the white modem also goes out and flashes. In fact, it happened last night on an incoming call to the landline although this could be coinicidence as I cannot duplicate this.
I phoned BT last night who said there is a fault on my line and it will be passed to engineering who will deal with it in 48 hours. They had no more details than that - anyone else had anything similar or know what this might mean? Is the IP Profile too high or something?
Also, if the DSL stayed up but the PPPOE on the Apple router went down - does that cause the DSL light on the modem to flash or would it stay on?
    Thanks

Ip profile wont be too high, so that wont be the issue.

  • Actiontec GT701C DSL light keeps flashing please help

I use to have the WIFI router from verizon but the wifi range was not strong enough for certain items in my home... in addition the items could not even find the network on wifi. i replaced it with a Actiontec GT701C so i could use my old wireless router that was strong enough to support my whole home .. But know when i connect my DSL line to the New modem the GT701c i can not access the internet .. i Could get to the configure screen but other than that the DSL Light keeps flashing any suggestions.. i have rebooted the modem and tryed diffrent phone line and phone jacks in my home please help !!!

Does your older modem connect still? If so, could you tell us which modem it is so that we could help you obtain the Transceiver Statistics from it? It's possible the ActionTec could either be defective or it could be sensitive to noise on the line if the signal isn't the greatest.

  • I have my TC in my Bedroom, So the light can be bright. Is there any way to turn the light off?

I have my TC in my Bedroom, So the light can be bright. Is there any way to turn the light off?

The light cannot be turned off, but if you stop by at the office supply store and get a sheet of small 1/2" white routnd labels, you can place a few over the light to dim it significantly. Add more labels as needed to adjust for the brightness level you want to achieve.
Of course, you could use a piece of tape, but the white labels look much nicer and won't be noticeable once you get 4-5 feet away from the device.

  • DSL light continues to blink, customer service unhelpful

    Hello,
I am visiting my family for the time being and the only Internet they can get around here is Verizon DSL, which stinks but hey it's still Internet.
However, the DSL light on the Westell Versalink 327W modem continues to blink and we can't get any Internet service. Having Xfinity at home, I have no idea how to help them and customer service was absolutely no help, insisting the problem was on our end. Anyone else having this issue? How is it resolved?
    Thanks for your time.

Try plugging the DSL modem into the test port at the network interface. If the light goes solid they have a problem in the house. If it continues to blink then they have to call Verizon to send out a technician to repair the line.
