Infinity, I am now officially sick of it.

Kelly changed the Modem then I started to have connection issues. Engineer comes out changes the faceplate on the white box, gives me another new modem. My connection now at best is 14 down and 1.5 up. The Engineer also tells me the cable from the pole to the outside of my house is 20 years old does he replace it? No because the pole has to be checked due to health and safety regulations.
I am paying good money for a service and at the moment I am not getting what I am paying for.

Try and power cycle the modem.
Just unplug the modem from the power wait a few seconds and plug it back in.
Just yesterday for some reason I kept getting a 2kbps connection to a server I have remote access to, I just power cycled the modem and everything went back to 4.4mbps

    I installed MS5 using auto update but it did not uninstall the old media source. After the install of MS5 I was having a conflict with another program that is in my startup folder causing it to not start. So I uninstalled media source 3 thru add and remove programs in control panel and it seems to have fixed the conflict with the program in the startup folder. Media Source 5 works fine but when I check the Creative website for updates it wants me to install all the Media Source 3 programs. Is this necessary or a glitch at Creative?
    It seems that MediaSource 3 and MediaSource 5 are designed to coexist with each other. I believe that MediaSource 3 may still be needed for some (old) products. That may be the reason why installing MediaSource 5 does not automatically uninstall MediaSource 3.

  • Compiz is now officially forked

    Compiz is now officially forked by QuinnStorm - the author of compiz-quinn patchset.
    Well, as is usual with these things, the cat fell out of the bag before I got a chance to announce it.  Anyhow, here it is, the official announcement of the Beryl project.
    Beryl is a fork of compiz, and a collection of other tools to go along with it.
    CSM has become Beryl Settings Manager (beryl-settings)
    CGWD has become Emerald, with its companion emerald-theme-manager.
    The entire project is currently hosted in SVN at:
        svn://metascape.afraid.org/svnroot/beryl
    You can check it out from there, or if you want to develop for it, get in touch with one of us and we'll set you up with an account.
    All of the work that had been maintained as the community or 'quinn' tree of compiz has become Beryl.  This change is necessitated by the difference in direction and vision of our community as compared with davidr/novell's approach.
    The first release of Beryl is not far off, but is still pending some major bugfixes that need to be implemented.  We want to close as many bugs as possible with the first release.

    So some AUR packages will change their names in near future, I suppose.

    fork, means that there's now two projects. so the existing PKGBUILDs stand, and im sure compiz will remain developed. its now that theres a second one.
    I think Romashka referred to PKGBUILDs like compiz-quinn-cvs which, for example, should become beryl-svn.

    Stefan,
    the official PAM on the SAP Service Marketplace still does not reflect this updated support for Windows Mobile 6.0, see slide # 9.
    Appreciate if this could be updates as it serves as official support document.

  • I was quoted 24.1 mb for my Infinity i am now at 9...

    I had Infinity installed on 18th April with a quoted speed of 24.1mbps. Ever since the installation when the engineer told me i was receiving 21mbps the speed has dropped off lower and lower. Currently it is at 9.37mbps which is unacceptable but i'm struggling like mad to get anyone at BT to properly address the issue.
    I have made numerous calls to report my speed and informed them that i have used the BT diagnostic tester and can see my speed is capped with an IP profile 9.68 which is obviously why it cannot run any faster at the moment.  All i get though is constantly being asked to reset the modem and router even though i tell them i can visually see what profile i have set on the line and know full well just resetting them will not enable me to go any faster...
    I had an engineer come to my home on Tuesday, he checked the line and said its capable of 26mb and could'nt find any fault and yes i was capped after checking at my home and the cabinet and he would ring the helpdesk and find out why the cap was in place and organise a reset.  I called again on Wednesday evening as i still had a profile of 9.68 and asked for an update on the IP profile reset.
    Again i was asked to reset the modem and router *sigh*. Eventually i was told she would organise a profile reset which should be done within 4 hours and then for me to allow 4 days to restablise after which she would call me back to make sure it was all ok.
    This was all well and good, but now after 30 hours still no reset so no improvement.  I really don't know what i need to do to actually get anything done.. everytime you call you are back to stage 1 and have to go everything again, everytime they say this will be the last time and we will get it fixed and everytime nothing has been achieved.
    What can i do to receive the speeds i was quoted, surely the profile needs to be raised and set at around 24mbps and if the speed is significantly lower all the components need to be checked/fixed/replaced to get the advised service i ordered wether this is the line, OR modem or HH3.
    I'm starting to think i will need to contact a 3rd party to try and help me with this issue, is there anything anyone can advise or a number/email i can use to get in touch with a senior manager or this Warren Buckley the MD of customer service. I want someone to actually manage my issue and see it through rather than ringing the standard number and getting a new indian person i often have trouble understanding and starting from what seems like scratch all the time.
    (Just for reference i'm connecting to the internet using a Desktop PC, OR modem and HH3 wired connection using the GigE port)
    Thanks for reading, sorry it's so long, but i'm so frustrated

  • Windows 7 now official - Join the Windows 7 Launch discussion today

    All,
    This Win 7 RTM board will be winding down as Windows 7 is now an official product and we need to separate the beta discussion from discussion about the released product, Lenovo Enhanced Experience implementation on systems shipping 10/22/09 onward, and other topics.
    Please join the discussion on the Win 7 Launch discussion board, view some of the videos that Matt Kohut uploaded last night which address many of the common questions.    For a limited time, we have asked some of our engineers, some featured in the videos, who have been close to the Windows 7 program and Lenovo Enhanced Experience to join the discussion and help answer some of your questions for the next two weeks.
    Thanks,

    Yus9,
    Fair points - I think straight up questions and answers will come out.  There is the Lenovo and Windows 7 page that should have links and most of the information that you might need.
    Rather than have 1 very long video, we tried to break up some of Matt and John's discussion into relevant chapters.  Not everyone is a fan of video, but I thought it added another way for people to connect with us.
    Thanks !

  • Bt infinity disconnected and now won't re connect

    Hi there,
    I was on the internet and it was going really slow and then it just disconnected and now it will not reconnect, I have infinity2 with bt home hub 5 and its just staying a constant orange light on the router
    I have logged it with BT but just wondering if anyone has noticed anything like this before ?

    Have you checked the BT Network status to see if there is a fault in your area?

  • Trouble with Infinity installation and now phone l...

    Hi, I was meant to get Infinity installed yesterday but the engineer didn't show up. Well actually he drove straight past my house because I was standing outside waiting for him. He then told his manager saying he knocked on my door at 4:30pm which is odd as I saw him drive by at around 4:45pm.
    So after multiple hours of waiting and calling to sort this out I decided today to cancel Infinity. However BT instead went and cancelled everything even though on the phone the staff I spoke to understood I only wanted to cancel the broadband.
    The problem is that I paid upfront for the line rental and today I received an email saying I wouldn't get reimbursed.
    After this email I spoke to BT again who said there was a mistake and my line is still working. Anyway I get home and lo and behold I can't dial out. All numbers are "not recognised".
    I'm at my wits ends. I've spent multiple hours dealing with this. Does anyone have any suggestions to how I can sort this out?
    I'm considering just moving everything to Virgin and taking BT to the small claims court to get my money reimbursed.
    Thanks.

    Hi Simonas,
    I am really sorry you had to stand there and watch your engineer disappear over the horizon!  Its poor when that happens and I apologise you had further problems trying to get help on our call queues.
    I'll be happy to have a closer look at this for you and give you a call back so we can get everything sorted out.

  • Broadband poor for a week, now officially .... Dea...

    Hope someone can shed some light on this for me, that has possible experiences like this - so that im not going totally insane;
    Im posting this via a 3g dongle as its the only means of a connection i have now;
    Because of the below issues, i cannot do the bt.speedtester as well, since i now have no connection.
    My connection (selby exchange area code: 01757) was a usual and stable 11mb/s since moving to new residence in July;
    However since friday last week 18th November - the speed dropped and was restrcited to;
    2.416mb/s - down
    0.999mb/s - up
    with a few random drops here and there, over the course of the week the speeds crept up a little - nothing major - best it got to was;
    3.416mb/s - down
    1.406mb/s - up
    however on friday 25th November, the connection has died
    random disconnects every 5-20 minutes, the router will connect and light up blue but there is actually no internet connection even though there is a reading on the speed being given.
    spoke to the ever helpful helpdesk, and told an engineer would need to visit and next one will be free in 9 days;
    the problem imo is the exchange as the readings/information on the router has been crazy ever since these issues;
    a ticket got opened on thursday 24th - but instantly got closed as resolved, and a new one was open again on friday 25th - if any mods should see this post;
    Broadband fault VOL011-xxxxxxxxxxxxx
    yes, ive tried a different router and the router im using now is an actual bt home hub 3, and swapped out the filters;

    Just finished my update (fyi, the "Software Release" number is 10.1.0.4200 while the "OS Version" is 10.1.0.4780 -- .4780 is what is reported by myver). WiFi calling is available, but mine has a problem -- I have no E911 address specified, and the TMO site won't let me change it (probably due to the fact that I just moved, and the site also won't let me change my actual address) -- time to talk to a human at TMO!

  • The Release is Now Officially a "Debacle"

    As reported by CNN/Money
    http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2011/06/22/the-final-cut-pro-x-debacle/
    "Since the early 2000s," according to itsWikipedia entry, "Final Cut Pro began to develop a large and expanding user base, mainly video hobbyists and independent filmmakers." By 2008, according to a surveypublished by the American Cinema Editors Guild, more than one in five members had abandoned Avid's (AVID) Media Composer and were doing their post-production work on Final Cut Pro.
    Which makes what Apple (AAPL) did with the new version released Tuesday such a mystery."
    Not, I think, the play Apple was perhaps hoping for.

    The thing I am having trouble with is that Apple is a company that understands marketing pretty well. Given that assumption, it just baffles me while they would roll out the program in the way that they have.  If they had really consulted "pros" in a systematic way pre-release, a lot of complaints made above would surely have surfaced. And yet they decided to go ahead -- for reasons, I bet, that have little to do with the app itself. Would it not make sense to say out loud this is the first step in a long development road and that provide a clearer roadmap. Yanking FCP 7.0/FCS 3 without explanation surely did not send the right message.
    (As an aside, I wonder if the reason they pulled 7 is they didn't want the new product competing directly with the new one.)
    It smacks of internal corporate politics, and a certain hubris, and a worrying lack of thinking important issues trough. Frankly, it makes me wonder about the consequences of Steve Job's illness.
    I'd bet that somewhere in a bar in Cupertino there's a bunch of Apple employees saying "we told them, but they wouldn't listen."
    Looking at the FCP marketing page, what's striking is the lack of focus of the message on the needs of ANY group of users. The claims are basically four:
    1) FCP makes editing "faster, more fluid, and more flexible than ever before."
    2) FCP makes organizing media easier. (I guess this is why FCP server is not longer needed.)
    3) FCP is fast.
    4) FCP "is a single application for the entire post-production workflow." (THE workflow? Aren't there many?)
    What' striking is that these are fairly broad, vague statements even by marketing standards, and suggest to me this is a product that Apple's marketing team does not know how to sell. That could be because the whole redevelopment effort has been poorly focused and/or the subject of significant internal debate and/or apathy. This is the best case Apple could make for a "revolution"? Give me a break.
    What missing is marketing that one used to see for FCP -- the video of the BBC executive saying how critical the product would be to his organization's future and how its features were not available on other products etc. The white papers on the feature and innovations etc.
    Interestingly, as of this morning, if one goes to www.apple.com/pro , the pro video app was still being represented by a photo of a FCS 3 box.

  • Bt infinity dropping

    i am sick of my bt infinity dropping and i am sick of ringing bt up and going through the same steps they change the channel on my hub i will not ring up now because i know there will be a lot of swear words from my mouth my kids are getting on my case about not being able to use it is there some main supervisior i can ring up who will talk to me like a person with a problem  because if someone says it is a channel on my hub again i will smash the thing up  here is the problem the hub lights all stay blue which is good but i get a yellow triange on my laptop saying limited ....the same on my sons laptop .....and his ps3 internet runs very slow when we do have internet thats after reseting the hub idont know how many times,, ive had enough now ive not rang for 5 month but i feel like i am wasteing my money i think if i have this problem any longer i will go back to virgin ok they are more expensive but the internet and speeds was there when i needed it
                      if anyone has a number for someone who will sort this once and for all please post

    I too am at my wits end with bt, exactly same problems as yourself scottt2010, I have had engineers out, shift and lift, new equipment all to no avail, I honestly think we are being ripped off and that bt have not researched the infinity properly before getting us all to pay out for it, now they have superfast, they need to sort out one job before moving on to the next, isnt it obvious that there are a lot of complaints about infinity before upgrading, if you cant get one you wont get the other, im leaving as soon as my contract is up, well worn out by bt
