INFINITY IS COMING TO BATLEY, FINALLY :D

Hey guys, I havent been on for a while, exams and such etc. Today i thought I'd try and find out if there was any news on the Batley exchange being added to the Infinity rollout program. It turns out that it has! There is no exact date for it yet but it will be available 'calender year 2013' according to the 'future exchanges.pdf'.
I have one brief query though. I recontracted in September, paid the phone line 12 months in advance to get it cheaper. If and when I can upgrade, will the new prcie include line rental even though its already been paid for? Also i already have bt total broadband option 3 which i think is the same price as infinity 2?
Thanks in advance.

Your line rental is a seperate package from your broadband (phone), you just need a voice package on your line at all times I believe.
There will be no price changes to your line rental.

  • Infinity not coming to Cabinet. What's the bottom ...

    Hi guys,
I've known BT Infinity is coming to our exchange for quite a while now and since it's supposedly accepting orders from 1st Sept (I know this is an estimate), I decided to check the cabinets on dslcheck.bt.com. It seems ours is the only one not getting upgraded. I have to admit, we're quite a way out and the cabinet doesn't provide many houses with broadband. However, it's still a massive downer as we were all pretty excited. Weirdly, when I put in our postcode (which on a map takes us a couple of hundred meters away from the house) it says the FTTC, so it must be coming relatively close. Anyway, what I really want to know is, what's the bottom line? Is it possible to request a cabinet to be upgraded or is it just too much work to upgrade a cabinet (out of interest could someone explain what actually gets done when they upgrade a cabinet)?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mackey18,
If your exchange area is being upgraded via the Openreach Superfast broadband Commercail scheme then your cabinet may not be included in the current scheme for many reasons eg not commercially viable, planning issues, ect. You can try email [email protected] with your landline number, address, postcode and pcp (cabinet) number to see of there is any plans or your cabinet.
If your exchange area is being upgraded with superfast broadband via your local council/authority's BDUK scheme then your will need to contact your council for more information.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • When Is Infinity 2 Coming To My Area?

    Hi,
I have had infinity for a few years now, but I need more speed!
Does anyone have an idea as to when this will be coming for the postcode LE10 2JH.
Thanks alot for helping me out!
Just to clarify this is for Infinity 2 not just infinity.
    THANKS!!
    Joe

As far as I'm aware, if you already have Infinity, you can either get Infinity2 now or you will never get Infinity2. It is dependent on your distance to the cabinet. Infinity1 is just an artificially capped service at 38M whereas Infinity2 is maximum rate possible up to 80M, but if you are further from the cabinet than will achieve 38M there is obviously no point in having Infinity2. What does this link show?  https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm

  • BT Infinity Speed:

Infinity is coming to my area very soon and the cabinet is 160 metres line distance from me, is I likely to receive the full speed on the 80/20 package?

    Hi mackem92
Potentially, you are in a good position to get the maximum speed of 80/20. Have you checked the BT Availability Checker - that is a good "ball park" estimate of what you may get.
Just a small word of caution though. Sometimes the cabinet that appears to be the one closest to you may not be the one that you get your Infinity service from. If you are in an area that had Post Office cabling put in many years ago, the network topology was never envisaged to be carrying data signals so it can go in all sorts of directions before arriving at your home. Also, if there is any aluminium cable in the service from your home to the cabinet that can affect the high frequency signalling that is used on VDSL.

  • Exporting from Final Cut to iDVD

I want to exoprt a sequence out of Final Cut Pro. Ultimately it will wind up in iDVD. What export settings will create a best quality quicktime movie for iDVD coming out of Final Cut Pro (FCP 3)?

The apple page (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164931) only gives a partial answer. First, if you are making it to watch on TV make sure you use the "title safe" setting in the canvas. You will get two blue boxes. The outer box shows what will appear on your TV screen, and I have found it to be pretty true. I have found that for my videos I need to set the scale to 90% (found under motion on the viewer) to fit the frame. I also put in chapter markers because it lets me jump around as I wish.
Next, when you go to export, Choose QuickTime movie. At the bottom of the window are three pop-up menus, settings, include, and markers. The last two are easy. Under "include" you want "Audio and Video". Under "markers" choose chapter markers if you made any. Under "setting" you can choose what you want, but I like to go to "custom" because it shows me exactly what all the settings are. For the video setting in the U.S. you want DV/DVCPRO - NTSC.
As the Apple page says, do not select "Make Movie Self-Contained." If you are going to import it into iDVD a self contained movie is pointless. It also takes much longer to export. A movie that took 35 to 40 minutes to export as a self contained movie took 5 minutes when I unchecked the box. Also, self-contained movies take up a whole lot of space.

  • Unable to modify the final internal table with month field

    hi everybody
I am having one material which has a qty  in different months lets say that jan feb mar apr may june..... now i have caluculated the total of the material monthly wise and i have to display in the output. if the material of the first month displayed and then again the same material comes in the loop and that matrial is going to be checked by the month wise and has to diaplyed in the corresponding month fied in the output. so i am using the index in the loop using  the AT new command for the matnr and appending the final output structure and now if the same matrial comes again with different month the final output internal table should modify. but the statement is executing but the value is not coming in the final output structure.
the syntax which i am using  is
MODIFY GT_OUTPUT FROM WA_OUTPUT INDEX lv_index TRANSPORTING MATNR.
    OUTPUT FORMAT IS
    MATERIAL NO :      JANQTY   :    FEBQTY    :   MARQTY : ...... :DECQTY.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

    my issue is....
lets say that i am having three materials now
381, 391, 401. and the material 381 has used in jan month 5 times and feb month 6 times like that. each material is used in different months. now i have calculated all the matrerials qty monthly wise and i have to display the material one time only the qty's in jan feb mar and so on....
    material no  383
    jan     31064
    feb     67312
    mar     65107
    apr     31222
    material no 391
    jan     74677
    feb     8952
    mar     75501
so my output should be like this
    OUTPUT FORMAT IS
MATERIAL NO : JANQTY : FEBQTY : MARQTY
    381                   31064         67312     65107
    391                   74677        8952        75501
now i have written the code like this
      LOOP AT GT_OUTPUT1 INTO WA_OUTPUT1.
        WA_OUTPUT-MATNR = WA_OUTPUT1-MATNR.
        WA_OUTPUT-MJAHR = WA_OUTPUT1-MJAHR.
        at NEW matnr.
          l_matnr = 'X'.
          lv_index = sy-tabix.
        endat.
        IF L_MATNR = 'X'.
          PERFORM CASE_STATEMENT.
          append wa_OUTPUT to gt_OUTPUT.
          clear :  wa_OUTPUT, l_matnr, WA_OUTPUT1, WA_ZQCALWT.
        ELSE.
          PERFORM CASE_STATEMENT.
          MODIFY GT_OUTPUT FROM WA_OUTPUT. " INDEX lv_index TRANSPORTING MAR. " EQ WA_OUTPUT1-MATNR.
          clear :  wa_OUTPUT, l_matnr, WA_OUTPUT1, WA_ZQCALWT.

    Hi Ranu,
As I said in my earliar Post...
You must be forgetting to clear the work area after appending or modifying ...
Please clear  WA_FINAL  after it's processing is over for each record inside LOOP AT IT_VBRP INTO WA_VBRP...
Hope it will solve your problem..

  • New subscription BT broadband BT infinity

    hi,
i'm moving in the next 2 weeks,  if i put my new house number and postode in the infinity it shows i can only get 1.5meg and no infinity
but if i enter the details for the address 2 doors away,  it says infinity is coming soon,
    weird?
also if i get the normal bt broadband and infinity comes life can i move mid contract?  or do i have to pay an penalty to upgrade?
would phoning BT help the situation and tell me if my new place can actually have infinity?

    Hi Spiky
    Welcome to the forums.
Certainly sounds like interesting results from the checker.
After you have moved in when infinity becomes available you can upgrade with no penalties.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Final Cut 7/ MPEG Streamclip... noob question.

I'm very green to all this, and could really use some help figuring out the settings to convert an .MP4 file to a file for cutting in Final Cut Pro 7. Please use small words.
I was given a 2 hour, 2 GB .MP4 file that I need to edit in Final Cut Pro 7. I tried to use MPEG Streamclip to convert this file using settings I found on YouTube (yeah, I know).
The problem is, my original file was converted to a much larger file of about 30GB... which seems excessive. I converted at a quality of 100%, using Apple ProRes LT, unscaled... and I think everything else was default.
Where did I go wrong, and what would be the best settings for me to use if I want the final product coming out of Final Cut to be about the same quality (and about same file size) of the original file?
    Thanks!

Good quality video takes a lot of space. Get used to it and buy a couple of extra drives.
As to your 30GB, that's about right.
If you want to output a similar sized file to the one you received, transcode back to MPEG 4.

  • A Cautionary Tale re Infinity install

Had BT Broadband installed in October and was assured a free upgrade to BT Infinity when it became available in my area which was early November, went through the upgrade option on bt.com and also paid a year in advance for line rental saver and took the inclusive calls all at the same time. I was given the 16th November as my Install date,........I had been keeping an eye on my order in my bt and a few days before it was due low and behold my engineers visit had been cancelled.......so I started ringing BT but no one seemed to know how or why my install was cancelled, through this forum I got the BT Infinity teams direct number 0800525775, finally got someone who realised what had gone wrong and it was then that things really went south, because we were new customers having had initial install in October that order was still live on their system so BT Infinity cancelled that order to allow the upgrade order to proceed, so got new install date for December 22nd and all seemed well, that was until we got our December bill, £333.41 !!!! the bill stated we cancelled BT Broadband, £141 for remainder of contract, £30 cancellation fee,£41 for the BT Hub and £27.99 for our Infinity and calls which wasnt even installed............so jumped back on the merry-go-round of calls to the sub continent only to be told the charges are correct and that we cancelled, no matter how much we told these folk we cancelled nothing it fell on deaf ears, so I rang the Infinity team and they seen the problem right away and got it sorted by talking to billing directly resulting in a full refund of the charges, pleased to say all is now well, and I would highly recommend BT Infinity to anyone, down 37mbps up 9mbps worth every penny, It is wise to keep an eye on the order section on MY BT.

just keep an eye on your next few bills and check to make sure BT have removed the charges they have levied. They charged me for a cancellation fee for a product i was not even in contract with, and even though they say they have rectified the situation i have to wait 3 months to confirm this as nothing is showing on my payments as a refund that they state they have given, and my account page still shows that i'm in contract even though not been in one since June 5 2010.
And if it doesn't show on my account soon, I'll be asking for a minimum of 6 months free line rental as compensation, as 14 days is more than long enough for them to have updated my account information..

  • Loyalty works both ways! Sign up for Infinity and ...

Infinity fibre has just been announced in my area and I have signed up for installation within the next few days.
My grumble is that having been loyal to BT and BT Internet since the dial-up days of 14.4kps modems.....I am now been treated worse than a new customer.
Last year, I was very tempted to switch ISP as I felt BT were not too competitive, and following a phone call to BT suggesting I may not renew, was passed to BT 'Retentions Dept'. I was persuaded to stay with BT especially as Infinity was coming and it would always be faster than any other ISP, also I would be given a 'loyalty' discount if I stayed. So I renewed along with BT Vision for a further 18 months.
Now, having chosen Infinity 2, my broadband charge has moved from £13.50 (BT Total3) to £26.00 (the full rate). Other friends who have moved ISP several times over the years are enjoying special BT discounts and introductory offers whilst I have to pay full whack!
BT, please explain the logic and fairness of that please......your sales colleagues have suggested I wait until my current contract expires and then threaten to leave BT and see if the loyalty discount can be reapplied!

    CodgerCJ wrote:
Thanks for your reply, yes I guess it's the old story of 'supply and demand'. Why offer a discount for something which is already in heavy demand?
...indeed any sensible person now needs to keep changing supplier of anything such as gas, electricity, insurance.....anything.....to get special introductory offers!
But then woe betide you if you forget to swap again next year!
I suppose I'm just old and cynical....
With BT, you don't have to keep swapping.  You just have to point out to them that you could get cheaper elsewhere, and they will give you a discount.  But you have to do it each time your contract runs out.

  • RM12 4DX - Edison Avenue, Hornchurch (infinity per...

Does anyone live on this road and use BT infinity? We have our house offer accepted for this road. But I was a little bit dissapointed to see the Infinity estimator coming up between 22 - 31 mb for FTTC Range A impacted and between 12 and 24 mbits for FTTC Range B impacted.
Evening congestion issues aside at my current property I get 35-40 mbits and would be very dissapointed to lose so much speed. I know the estimator isn't fool proof and the best way is to actually ask people who live nearby what they receive so this is what I am hoping someone can advise on? I would ask the vendors but I don't think they are going to know, when I snooped around for the main telephone socket it looked like it was still ADSL and not adapted for Infinity yet. It's a tough one, I am really curious but can hardly go knocking round the neighbours asking about this and seeing if I can get them to run a speedtest so I guess this is the best place to see if like-minded people in the area use these forums.
Apparently it's connected to cabinet 30 in Hornchurch. I google street viewed around for ages in various roads but I guess it's out of date as I cannot see any Infinity enabled cabinets. It would be helpful if I could tell how far I am from the cabinet. So if anyone knows it's location that would be great too.
As excited as I am about moving, the roulette wheel that is broadband is making me quite nervous!!!! Virgin are in the area with the upto 152 mbit speeds. Obviously hugely appealing but having looked on their forums they seem to have even worse congestion issues than BT. Last thing I want to do is suffer that or pay for 152 mbit package and barely be able to use the internet in the evenings. I guess moving my infinity will me caught on another years contract, a little unfair as you have to commit to it before finding out it's not upto scratch. Not really as if you can give it a test drive so that's why I wanted to research a bit first!
    Cheers
    Wayne

I just wanted to see if anyone nearby can feedback on their experiences. A fairly large number of houses will be connected to same pole and I'd say it's likely that most in the road if not all will be on same cabinet. When I say roulette then I mean with any move it is the unknown - I have no idea if congestion is an issue until you actually commit and move - same can be said of Virgin. The estimator without an actual phone number is an indication but it's a total guesstimate. I heard it can sometimes be pessimistic when predicting. The best gauge is always people who are actually using it.
I know it's unlikely people nearby the destination in question will be on the forum actively posting but thought I'd give it a shot.

  • Infinity available on my Exchange but not on my st...

Just wondering if someone can explain what's going on here.  I'm on the Haslington exchange, which has now been enabled.  There are 3 cabinets all within 800m of my house that have been upgraded, and have whirring equipment in them so they would all appear to be active.  I know which cabinet I am on as a recently retired Openreach engineer lives on the next street along, and has told me which one my line is connected to which is one that is ~650m from my house.  It's also the same one he is on and the tracker will allow him to order at 37 meg, he is a little closer to the cabinet than me.
I've been checking the BT Infinity checker for a while and it's always said 'Infinity is not due to be rolled out in your area' under my phone number.  A while back I was able to search by post code, and it said something like 'Good news, Infinity is coming to your area' but I can't seem to find that link anymore?
Now as I know the cabinet I was on was upgraded a few months ago I called BT last month who checked, and told me there was an error in the tracker and that I would definitely be able to order Infinity at my house and that the current enablement date was 31 March though this was subject to change.
I've just learned that some of my neighbours in surrounding streets have been able to order Infinity, and have estimated download speeds of 30-40 meg, so today I called BT and asked if I could order.
I was first of all told that Infinity is not available in my area and my exchange probably has not been enabled.  I questioned this as I know I am on the Haslington exchange, I was then told that I can't be on the Haslington exchange.  I then politely asked to speak to a supervisor.  I was then fogged off again with various excuses from me being directly connected to the exchange (which I am most definitely not) to I was on a different exchange.
I then recapped to this supervisor on what I already knew about my line, he then went away for a few minutes and came back and said that he could get me on a trial, which is part fibre but not at the full speed.  He couldn't really explain any more but said his info was showing that I would get download speeds of around 10-12 meg, and up of 4-5 meg.
I've actually gone for this option as I can upgrade to Infinity if and when and I am fed up of ADSL2....my line from the exchange is about 2.5k I believe.  But how come people the same distance from the cab as me can order Infinity at 30-40 meg, yet I can only get this 'trial' of 10-12 meg?  And exactly what is this trial called?  I have tried searching the net but unable to come up with any results???

I live 50m from the nearest cabnet, within a 600m circle there is 6 cabnets. Sad thing is i am not being enabled for infinity, everything around us is being upgraded except our road for some odd reason. I had a chat with an openreach eingineer working on one of the cabnets, he said they finished upgrading the designated cabnets. I asked about my road he had a quick look at my address and said there was no plan for that cabnet. Soo upset...
Just to show you guys how close, the cabnet will be staring me in the face
    -Red arrow is me
-Green box with black line is infinity cabnets
    -Green line infinity enabled roads
-Black box is the cabnet we are on
    -Red no infinity
Looks like my only hope is if for some reason BT decide to deploy FTTP which is highly unlikely. Dont blame BT's choice, upgrade the cabnets with most people. Our cabnet has fraction of the people compared to the other cabnet which has 3 estates connected to it.

  • BT Infinity on my cabinet

    Hi,
I've been told by one of my neighbours that we will never get fibre broadband as our cabinet has been removed from the upgrade plans?? Our postcode is NE22 5HE, how can I check if this is the correct info?
    Thanks

a house I used to live in has the post code NE27 0EF which has bt infinity 2 enabled at it.
I cant locate my cabinet which I am connected to since I must be connected to another one since I cant get bt infinity, any help would be greatly appreciated
note: I live quite a far distance from my exchange so I don't think I am directly connected to it. Also I have received a letter saying bt infinity is coming soon... Yet that was nearly one and a half months ago. Also a bt engineer said that he was getting told to role out in the area that I live in and he said I should be able to get infinity when he is done but it doesn't look like I can.
Hi, i just checked this for you and there are two cabinets attached to your postcode but both stating that there is no planned rollout of for fibre yet. However, this is based on a spreadsheet 6 months out of date so things could have changed by then.
Your exchange is not due for upgrade until September also and you don't have to be near the exchange to be connected directly to it, best way to check is here :https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html enter your telephone number or address and this should tell you nearer the time if fibre will be rolled out to you.

  • Explanation for sudden 2 YEAR delay in BT Infinity...

I was assured for at least half of this year that BT Infinity was coming to my area (Herne Bay) on December 31st 2010. Seeing an unusual amout of BT vans around for the last two months, particularly near the exchange, I was confident that it would. I went to the website today to see if I could book my subscription in advance for the 31st switch on. I now see that my area is due for switch on in '2012'. That is up to two years and with no explanation whatsoever. We get absolutely nightmarish speeds here and I am so frustrated, disappointed and upset with this news that I really want an explanation.
    Thank you.

    this is speculation..
Someone at work who apparently knows who works quite high up in BT, said since virgin announced the 100Mb service BT had a sudden meeting to try and find out if it was possible to start getting fibre to the home, instead of to the cabinet only.
Maybe they will do it direct to your home in 2 years.
Again this is speculation (although I dont see BT competing without doing it).
I am back again to try lend a helping hand after being busy with so many things!
