Infinity issues after recent lightning

Hi All,
I have had infinity for the last 2 months with very little problems and respectable speeds:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2705292208.png
Unfortunately, the lightning storm the other day killed my modem, router and BT Vision box...all of which have/will required engineer visits.
Firstly I believed it was the router, engineer comes to test line and leaves. Router was delivered, I setup router and find modem is not working.  I phone BT again and another engineer has visited, installed a new modem and said there was some issues on the line.  After doing some work outside he comes back and the line appeared OK - unfortunately now my speed has dropped considerably:
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2861279663
On the first engineer visit, I was told I am getting 80 down and 20 up from my box, which points the issue at the modem & router.  I believe the second engineer has infact changed some of the line settings to ensure the quality but not the speed.
As i am currently awaiting a BT Vision engineer to visit (rediculous a 3rd visit), please could someone help me on the broadband point.
Please note, this is not a PC issue and I am fairly technical so have done some trouble shooting.  PS.  I am not on wireless,
Many Thanks

Mine got killed by the storm as well. I had 4 power cuts in succession and this sent my speeds write down again and I just had it nice as well!. Went from a nice 25.35MB now down too 23.35MB. I have left it for a while now but no rise. I have turned the equipment on and off but nothing!.
Please click on pink star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. Thank you. Home Hub Page- http://bthomehub.home/

  • [SOLVED]-ish boot/device/radeon issues after recent upgrade

Hi, I am having major issues after last update. Basically it seems it is no longer loading drivers correctly at boot. I have a radeon graphics card, and the screen resolution normally switches during the boot process (presumably when the radeon module loads). This is no longer happening, so X is not starting for me. The network card is also not being picked up.
When i look at the boot log there is no errors i can find, but also there is NO [drm] messages at all (there is normally a fair few as it sorts out the graphics card.
I am still investigating, but if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful (should i be looking at mkinitcpio? or the kernel itself? or the ati-dri ? what exactly were the changes made to the packages in the last couple of days on this sort of thing?

Hi i have sorted it. Unfortunately i am not sure exactly *how* i sorted it, I did another pacman -Suy which installed linux-utils (which i cant see affecting much). Unfortunately i had switched to a custom kernel when i first got the issue with the arch one, when i switched back again suddently everthing started working.
I understand the /usr/lib changes look like they have screwed np my custom kernels modules folder. But i still dont know why i got the problem in the first place, as it was with the arch standard kernel and ram disk if first got the issue. Anyway gone now. and the network card is working too.

  • IPhone 5 Power button issues after recent update.

After this most recent update, my power button is not working as it normally does.  It takes two or three attempts to turn the phone off and more than once to turn it.  Sometimes it turns on and immediately turns off.  This is happening only after this update.

Yes 7.1.2  I had a 7.1 backup, and no issues with that... but then I did a clean DL of 7.1.2 and once again with NO apps on the iphone power button issues... as mentioned.  So it is not the apps, nor songs, nor anything else...just 7.1.2  I am now running 7.1  no issues.

  • Serious issues after recent updates this weekend

Hey guys, Recently i upgraded to leopard with a clean install, ran GREAT for about 1.5 weeks i hadnt updated from apple through softwareupdate yet untill saturday of this past weekend, since then i would have multiple pixels going crazy on screen, or lines would appear all the way across the screen, then the computer would lock up and only the trackpad would respond. Id restart it, and it would be stable for 10 mins, then do the same thing over again. Finally last night it just locked up after pixels and video freaking out for a good 30 mins on and off. Now when i try to boot i get the gray screen with a folder and question mark located in the middle. I should mention earlier when i encountered this problem i figured id reinstall leopard. so i archived and installed, problem persisted. My mbp is a little over a year old. 2 gigs of ram 2.16 all from apple.
thanks for any help guys, im clueless as what to do
im getting sick of having apple issues from everything to my ipod touch, iphone, macbook pro batteries and now the laptop.

Thankyou very much kappy for the quick reply, you give me hope, this will be the first thing i try when i get home. I forgot to mention i also suffer from missing various keystrokes and what not. When i ran the disk utility to check the condition of the disk it locks up. When i repaired permissions multiple errors were shown that were not corrected.
Thanks again kappy! i will be back with a result

  • Cyclic network issue after recent update

This topic is covered in a recent post but thought I would highlight it in a separate post now that I know more about it.
Having installed the recent Udev update on a virgin Noodle system, my network (Internet via LAN and Cable using dhcp) goes through a cycle of working, then not working with each subsequent reboot.
My other Linux system (Frugalware) and Windows XP are not effected.

Yes, this is an issue that was reported by several testers, but not fixed prior to release. The Engineers believe it has something to do with the Airport Extreme Base Station/Airport Time Capsule units. Some testers switch to non-Apple routers as an experiment and did not experience this issue. Maybe it will get fixed in 10.10.1.

  • Few issues after recent updates

I updated my system day before yesterday and after booting I noticed that the last update didn't go smoothly.
My current setup is Arch stable on Thinkpad X201 on a docking station with external monitor with 1920x1200 resolution.
Issues I have noticed are following:
The console framebuffer seems to limit itself on only part of my screen, perhaps 1024x768 or something like that. The picture is aligned to top-left corner.
When I started StumpWM for the first time the whole X was using 800x600 resolution or similar, using xrandr I could select the 1920x1200 resolution but the StumpWM itself only seemed to use the same portion of the screen as the console framebuffer.
I then edited my xorg.conf and removed all 'non-essential' stuff from it and added "Modes '1920x1200'" to Screens section to get correct resolution when starting X but StumpWM still only use the smaller part of screen.
I then switched to Fluxbox which seems to work with correct resolution. It still has problem in Firefox. The firefox address bars list of addresses is aligned to screens left side instead of being just below the address bar.
Then I noticed that my keyboard won't work correctly. Prior to update I could use my keyboards fn+key combo but now it doesn't work. I use Happy Hacking Keyboard Pro 2.
Any idea how to get my keyboard and stumpwm to work again? StumpWM might be WM issue but it is pretty odd still.
Keyboard issue is more pressing as I can't type umlauted chars with it.
Last edited by Zmyrgel (2010-06-23 06:56:52)

Got the keyboard issue fixed. Apparently the xmodmap file I've been using won't work with the new xorg.
Still need to find why the console and stumpwm is working incorrectly.

  • Having sound issues after recent IOS 6.1.2 update

After updating my Iphone 4s with IOS 6.1.2 the phone does not make any sounds. The headphones work but no sounds of any kind (keyboard, notification, games, music) nothing

Try a hard reset. press the home button and the power button for 30 seconds. once you see the whit apple let it go.
Also, isolate the issue by creating a video and a voice memo.  (If theres no sound on either restore as new and then if the issue persists get a replacement.)
lastly, check to make sure the mute button is not on at the top left of the device( no red should be showing)

  • Spectre x360 keyboard issue after recent bios update

Hi Folks,    I have a spectre X360 and I am really happy with it.  Great product.  I recently updated the bios and it was really nice to be rid of the glowing keyboard light LED. There is an issue that has popped up though which is incredibly frustrating, like incredibly annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.  The keyboard response to typing a double letter (such as the t in letter) has gone down.  In other words my typing speed is now limited because the keyboard isn't as sensitive as it was prior to the bios update.  Does anyone know of a setting somewhere where I can increase the sensitivity of the keyboard so I'm not constantly going back to correct a missing double letter?  Please! argh it sucks so bad.  It has ruined my experience with this machine.  -Sam

    Hello  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre x360 and TouchPad sensitivities not working correctly. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the Touchpad sensitivities.
If you will go to the section on Adjusting TouchPad pointing sensitivities it should help resolve the issue. It also shows you how to restore the default setting that could help as well.
    Hope this fixes your issue.
    Thanks.

  • IPhone sync issues after recent upgrades

Fellow community members and (hopefully) developer or product folks in Cupertino....
Ever since the latest releases of iTunes (11.1.2) and iOS (7.0.3) I have been unable to perform a succesful sync - which quite frankly is unnaccepatable.
I'm on an older MacBook running OS X 10.6.8 and an iPhone 4S, but I'd be amazed if this wasn't a featured combo in pre-release QA?
On researching this issue it seems like a number of people are experiencing the same thing, which seems anchored in music and playlists? I can back-up, sync/copy apps, but when it comes to music the whole thing seizes up. I've tried some of the community suggested work arounds but to no avail.
Here are the traits of the issue I'm seeing:
iTunes goes through the motions of syncing but falls over on step 6 of 6 - "Waiting for changes to apply". From my experience you could be waiting a long time; a very long time. Odds are America might have plugged it's budget defecit by the time my phone syncs.
I've checked and un-checked options to re-teach my phone about my music playlists but this has had no effect. It's Halloween as I write this and I notice my phone now shows the ghost of playlists past - the music isn't there, but the metadata is, along with icons suggesting I download these tracks? A new commercial feature to boost iTunes revenue, or a buggy and crappy user experience? The more synical out there may say both.
Come on Apple, this stuff really lets you down, what's the official line? WIll this be patched in an update and in the meantime is there a workaround that works?

I haven't been able to pull off a successful sync since last Saturday...the same day I updated my 4s to 7.0.3. And since the update my 4s will not play ANY mp3 or music file I uploaded to iTunes. I've long been an apple device junkie and shrugged off the anti-apple & droid fan boys...but this is absolutely unacceptable. There should've been an official statement by now letting people know they're aware of the problem and are working on it.

  • Keyboard issues after recent update

so last week I updated my iPad  2 to the newest update ... After that my iPad is unstable and constantly crashes ...and the worst of it is the keyboard pops up and covers where I'm typing , so I cannot see what I'm typing or being able to correct it . I'm very upset right now

My iPad Mini is working just fine with iOS 8.3, so avoiding updates is not the answer. If you have restarted the device, reset it, restored from a backup, and then restored as new, not using a backup and the keyboard is still malfunctioning, then there is something else going on. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the device looked at.

  • Is there any fix for the bluetooth connectivity issue after most recent OS update?

Seems to be a common problem particularly with bluetooth headseat connectivity. Any ideas?

There is no bluetooth connectivity issue after the recent OS update. There may be a problem with your phone, which may or may not be related to the update. A "common problem" looks like this in the forums:
I haven't seen any threads on BlueTooth with over 1.4 million views and over 12,000 replies, or even any vaguely close. For any problem that someone has there is bound to be someone else amoung 150 million users who have it. That doesn't make it a "common problem."
If you tell us what the problem is specifically and what you have done so far to try to resolve it someone can probably help you.

After recent upgrade to IOS 7 i an seeing systems rebooting very frequently. it just goes offline and comeback online after some time. IS this hardware issue or others also facing the same

    Hello there, Kishoresaraogi.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great steps to troubleshoot your issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Particularly:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • [SOLVED]Boot hang after recent updating issues

I am having issues after the last update. First, I made a mistake of holding back the filesystem package. Because of this (at least I think so) I was having an error that said it could not boot because at boot it said "/sbin/init does not exist". I solved this by upgrading the filesystem package by chrooting from a live arch usb. Now I am having an issue where my system hangs at boot, I believe it is right after systemd runs fsck although I might be wrong. But after maybe 5 minutes it just starts as usual... my ususal boot time is less than a minute. What should I do?
This is from a thread i accidentally hijacked:
    cfr wrote:
Try systemctl --failed and or examine the journal for clues.
Post fstab. Are all of the disks referred to there available when you boot? If systemd can't find them, it will basically wait until it times out and I think that's about 5 minutes and then it will continue booting (assuming it isn't missing anything critical, of course).
    My fstab:
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    # /dev/sda6
    UUID=5dc84b70-a9f9-42eb-981c-40e84f7e9e75 / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1

    # /dev/sda7
    UUID=07dcd099-50c4-4c35-a102-10a39b74ac0b none swap defaults 0 0
Would deleting the second /dev/sda6 fix it?

Thanks jasonwryan So my exact boot time was 1 minute and 34.151 seconds (which is not unbearable but like i said it used to be in a matter of seconds)... The kernel took  2.790 seconds and userspace took 1 minute and 31.361 Output of systemd-analyze blame :

  • Text notification not working after recent software upgrade.

I also have the Galaxy s4 and have noticed issues after the recent upgrade. My device will only vibrate now when receiving text messages, the notification sound doesn't seem to work anymore. I've tried adjusting settings on both my messaging apps until I'm blue in the face and can't seem to make anything work. Other notifications still work ok for the most part. Any ideas??

Please, nobody waste any time replying to this issue as the problem appears to be fixed now. I rarely restart my laptop as I usually just put it to sleep, however, I restarted it and the problem looks to have gone away. I may have fixed it with some of the things I tried, but the laptop may just have needed restarting - I'm not sure.
But as long as the problem is resolved, I'm happy. :-)))
    Thanks anyway!

How can u downgrade. Apple doesn't allow that. Unless your iPhone 5 is jail broken.  iOS 7 isn't even out yet. There Is no way u can get iOS 7 unless it was beta. And if so beta is having some issues.
