Infinty connection timeouts requireing constant we...

I have recently started experiencing a strange and increasingly frustrating problem with our Infinty / HH3 setup.
Our Infinity experience has been excellent up until this problem started happening.
The problem as best as I can describe it is as follows:-
1> If a open a browser my homepage (google.com) times out and won't connect I then have to refresh for it to load the page.
2> When viewing sites that use multiple domains such as eBay.com often the main page elements will load but elements within that page located on other domains (*ebaystatic.com, *ebayrtm.com) just time out, meening that I have to refresh / reload the page to view it.
3> I have recently written a Python script that polls various NTP servers, it was working fine until this problem started now it regularly fails to connect to the NTP server due to network timeout.
The problem seems to affect all of my machines so its not a software / setup problem. It also affects both wired and wireless devices so I doubt it's anything specific to my network. It is becoming increasingly frustarting having to constantly refresh webpages just to veiw them
A little background on my setup just incase it helps:-
Modem and router:  Openreach modem -> HomeHub3b
Wired Cat5e network: Cisco unmanaged switch -> MacPro + Cobalt RAQ web/mail server
Wireless G: Laptop running RedHat Enterprise Linux + Laptop running Windows-7 + Adroid Smartphone

Next test is to connect your PC to the modem instead of using the Homehub, and set up a PPPOE session on your PC, this may show the Homehub as a potential problem.
It is possible that it's a BT issue, I have experienced first hand a very similar issue with a different ISP at a different address whereby despite having a stable DSL connection (no dropouts) I would get page timeouts and page not found errors at random. My first thought at the time was that my router had gone bad, so I swapped it out with a known good router the problem still persisted. I also tried all of the usual stuff like connecting via the master socket, changing DNS servers etc etc... but still no good. So I contacted my ISP they ran checks which apparently showed no problem, yet the problem persisted. In the end I wrote a little script that would ping bt.com and log the results, after about 12 hours the log clearly showed many time outs, I sent the log to my ISP they did more checks and couldn't find any problems, they then handed the case to BT wholesale and within a few hours the problem was resolved.

  • Database connection timeouts and datasource errors

    Connections in the pool randomly die overnight. Stack traces show that for some reason, the evermind driver is being used even though the MySql connection pool is specified.
    Also, the evermind connection pool is saying connections aren't being closed, and the stack trace shows they're being allocated by entity beans that are definitely not left hanging around.
    Sometimes we get non-serializable errors when trying to retrieve the datasource (this is only after the other errors start). Some connections returned from the pool are still good, so the application limps along.
    EJBs and DAOs both use jdbc/SQLServerDSCore.
    Has anyone seen this problem?

    OC4J 9.0.4.0.0 - BTW, do you know of any patches?As far as I know, there are no patches for the 9.0.4

    Like all other Oracle products that start out as somebody
    else's -- including, for example, JBuilder (that became "JDeveloper"), Apache Web Server (that became "Oracle HTTP Server") and TopLink -- their development paths diverge, until, eventually, there is absolutely no similarity between them at all. Hence, the latest versions of OC4J and "OrionServer" are so different, that you cannot be sure that something that works for "OrionServer" will work for OC4J.
    I recall reading something, somewhere, sometime about configuring OC4J to use different databases (other than Oracle), but I really don't remember any details (since it was not relevant to me, because we only use Oracle database). In any case, it is possible to use a non-Oracle database with OC4J.

  • A connection timeout occurred. I have been receiving this error when trying to connect to the open wifi connection at my university. My wifi works perfect when I am using it on my home network. I have tried all the suggestions in forums online no luck.

    I am getting a connection timeout occurred message on my mid-2009 macbook pro I am running mountain lion 10.8.2 but problem occured before and after update. The message only happens when i attempt to connect to the wifi at my university. It works normal at my home. This error just started last semester out the blue. I have read many forums and non have helped ive reset my pram a few times, ive deleted all my networks including my home network out of my system preferences<network and all that extra stuff. if anyone has a clue please help me because one of my classes requires me to take in class test over the internet. Thanks for reading. If anyone can help PLEASE help ive been trying to fix for last few months.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
    Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
    Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • Best router for a macbook experiencing connection timeouts?

    Hi all,
    I know macbook wireless connection issues have been discussed to death already, but I have a slightly different question and with Black Friday looming, I was hoping to get some input from those who may have had success with finding a new router. I apologize for the incoming wall of text, it's been a long, arduous journey.
    My 2007ish Macbook ceased to be wireless over a year ago, at least at home.  I was on Snow Leopard at the time, and using the internet when it dropped suddenly but connected after a restart. It dropped several more times and each time would require more restarts. By the end of the day, it didn't see my router, nor the neighbors' forever unsecured linksys router (yet i've had to go to war defending our network from their 17 year old son) or any other nearby network. I'm no longer 100% certain, but I do believe there had recently been an update (wifi died around July 4th 2011 if anyone is an obssessive date keeper) In the next days I installed kismet and istumbler and took the macbook for a drive around the neighborhood, where it proceeded to detect all kinds of other networks that it had never seen before (like, ever because its out of range). At home, still nothing.
    Over the next few months, I furiously googled for hours upon hours and tried everything I came across.  And I do mean everything, even things I consciously knew would not have any affect. I did a clean install of Lion but no change. It's been to the apple store three times, where of course it detected their network and connected with no hesitation and diagnostics showed it maintaining better signal strength than I can ever remember seeing at home. They gave me various suggestions, from the predictable 'replace wireless card' to the ludicrous 'send it off and have the antennae replaced' which would be $800 dollars because they would need to open the screen part.  Yeah..no.  At least they replaced my swelling battery and top case for free.  Anyway, thenceforth I remained chained to my desk by ethernet. 
    Fast forward to now.  Still chained to the desk, but more determined than ever to do something about it. About a month ago I gave it another go and eventually after a few adjustments it started to actually detect the router and I can click to connect, enter the password, but of course, connection timeout. So the network name sits there in the dropdown menu, but bars all greyed out. Very frustrating. 
    So as a last ditch effort, I have decided to try replacing our router, a Linksys WRTP54G that is infuriatingly locked to Vonage, which we no longer have. There's a motorola surfboard modem connected to the router, and a switch between the router and macbook. The switch isn't the problem, it wasn't even there when the problem started. I've also tried a WRT54G which didn't work either. The Macbook works fine on a university network, but I don't have access to any of the specifics about the network. It also connects to a plethora of other home networks and routers, some of which I do believe are b/g routers.
    We're due for a more powerful, capable, and not-cursed-by-vonage router anyway as our devices have increased in number from 4 to nearly 13. I want one that can support NAS and if possible Open WRT.  I was also planning to move us behind a VPN very soon.  I know that's maybe getting a bit nitpicky, but I am definitely prepared to pay more if it means the Macbook is wireless and I can clear up the 20ft river of chords snaking not so subtly around our upstairs.
    So the question is, has anyone had any luck fixing the problem by replacing the router?  Even if it doesn't have tons of features, any input on what kinds of routers seem to make Macbooks with this problem fall in line would be so helpful!!

    Apple AirPort Extreme has served my mixed environment very well. You can buy a refurbished one from Apple and save some $.

  • XI adapter polling issue & JDBC  / DB2 driver connection timeout properties

    We have a long running issue with our XI 7.0 system running on iseries. (V5R3) The issue occuring is that our XI adapters stop polling and the only resolution is to restart the J2EE engine or to resart the adapter framework services.
    We have had several OSS messages open on this subject for over a year and are going round in circles with the a number of different SAP consultants.
    The one topic that we keep coming back to is that we are being asked to set DB2 driver connection timeout properties. We are using the toolbox driver and have upated to the latest JTopen driver, but have not managed to find any inofrmation on how to set the timeout parameter. Does anyone know where the timeout parameter set?
    Has anyone experienced polling issue like this before and how did you resolve?
    SAP referred to the SAP note 1078420 - XI/PI JDBC Adapter: Setting JDBC driver properties for DB which is for Oracle, but this will give an idea of what timeout parameters SAP are asking about.

    where DB connection take a long time to establish connection. Some times call made to Driver will hang permanently. Setting driver properties would resolve this problem.

  • HTTP Connection timeout setting

    Hi,
    I'm using ebXML protocol for B2B 10.1.2.3+MLR 5.
    I talk to multiple trading partners and when one of the TP is down, we see that there is a pileup of messages in the backend queues.
    This is because, there is constant message inflow into the JMS queues by the back-end application and each message is taking a long time to timeout (nearly 20 seconds). So what effectively happens is that a message was supposed to reach the TP in 1 sec will take 20 sec before it labels as a HTTP connection timeout error .
    Can we set the HTTP Connection timeout setting in B2B? (I saw a setting in B2BGurus for EDI though)
    If not, please can you suggest if it can be set in the Application Server level?

    At the application server level, there is a timeout setting in httpd.conf. The default value has been set to 300 seconds.

  • Connection timeout issues with Time Capsule

    I have a first generation 500 GB Time Capsule, with AT&T Uverse internet service.  The device worked fine up until 3 weeks ago, at which time I received a "connection timeout" error when trying to connect from any of the computers in the house.  At that time, the computers were showing that the wireless network was available, but I was just unable to connect.  I could connect to the device using the ethernet connection, and the wired computer would still successfully backup.
    I restarted the Time Capsule, and everything immediately returned to normal.  Everything worked fine for about a week, and then the problem occurred again.  The issue has been occurring more and more frequently, to the point that it now is only working for several hours before requiring a reset.
    Has anybody experienced anything similar to this?  Any thoughts on a solution to this?

    Hi I had similar problems. I moved houses got my own cable modem and tried to use the TC as my wireless, as i had it in my other home. The connection would drop constantly and i was unable to use the TC as a wireless device, it would also freeze my computer (mac book Pro). After asking everyone for help i found that when i moved the TC next to the cable modem in the garage it all worked. Apparently the ethernet cable that ran from the garage to the living room was only using 4 of the 8 pins and thus was dropping the connection. i am now connected directly from the modem to the tc and it has not failed yet (cross my fingers). After all this was suppose to be wireless and thus i don't need to have it right next to my computer. The signal is strong and it has not caused any problems. I didn't mess with the settings after i did a hard reset on the TC. So far so good. hopes this helps.

  • Random AirPort "Connection timeout"

    My Macbook (late 2008, aluminium, running 10.5.8) has had problems connecting to my home Wifi since I returned from the States, where I'd been using it without any problems.  It will randomly and unpredictably stop loading pages.  I turn Airport on and off, where it detects my home networn, brings up a dialog box "This network requires a password" I click connect and then I get "connection timeout".  Turning AirPort on and off or deleting then re-adding the network does not help, nor does restarting my Macbook.
    I initially thought it was our Netgear router, but my housemates have no problems connecting (one with a MBP, late 2010 and a third gen iPad, the other with a windows compueter) and even my HTC phone is connecting with no issues.
    I'm now reduced to connecting through Ethernet using my phone... which is connected to my home network wirelessly (how ridiculous).
    I'm at a loss as to why this has happened suddenly.  Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated.  Plus... I'm not that tech savvy so please keep it relatively simple!

    OMG! Undertwilight I am having the same exact problem! I have a late 2007 17" Macbook Pro runing 10.5.8 as well, and my problem fits yours to a T.
    I have had Cisco run me through resetting and reconfiguring my router twice now and I am still have intermittent access to my router.... : (

    My name is Norbert. I am having some difficulties restoring my icloud back up. My ipad was doing an icloud back up and the alert message displayed on the ipad after my internet was interrupted "A wi-fi connection is required to download your apps and media".
    I got the internet working, my ipad is receiving internet network but the alert message is still displayed on the ipad and won't go away, to make matters worse the ipad is frozen and i can't do anything.
    Please can anyone with a similar experience tell me what to do in this situation?

    Have you tried a hard restart. Press the on/off button and homescreen buttons together until the device shuts down.

    depend on what you need or what your security policy says for my lab gear i use 60 minutes. because i know how can access this. if you have gear outside in insecure space set it to a minimum or disable the console. everybody how can access your gear can break in. simple restart and boot w/o config. and you are in.
    it realy depends how secure is your space and how much security you need.
    and than the settings for policy have to match, what sec do you have if your console login and logout is secure. but when you restart you can simple break in by starting w/o config and than load it.

  • Why do I keep getting a "connection timeout" error on my macbook pro?

    What seems to be on some kind of time schedule, my network connection times out.  The message "a connection timeout occured" is displayed, rendering my attempts at re-connection useless.  After hours of troubleshooting(my router included) and checking out other Mac forums, I have no solutions but to power cycle my router.  This pretty much makes my MB useless unless using a wired internet connection outside of my home network.  I've done tons of research online and have encountered hundreds of people with the same problem.  My machine is a late 2011 Macbook Pro.  PLEASE HELP

  • Time Capsule woes -- Connection timeouts and can't connect with one Macbook

    This is my second Time Capsule. Here's the scenario:
    I have a Netopia 3347 DSL modem. That feeds into the Time Capsule in bridge mode. There is a MacBook (metal case), iBook (yes, it's old), two iphones, a color printer and an iPad that can all connect to the Time Capsule just fine. The problem is my MacBook can't connect. The offending computer is a 2.2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo running SL 10.6.6. This computer can connect to the Netopia just fine, so I know its internal Airport works. After several go arounds with Apple tech support, I'm still nowhere.
    Here are the symptoms:
    1. I can see the TC's network SSID in the airport pull down menu. If I select the TC, a popup appears and asks for a password. If I enter the password, I'll get a connection timeout error.
    2. On the rare occasions where it does connect, I can't open a webpage. Network diagnostics has red dots for ISP Internet and Server
    3. On the even rarer occasions where it does connect, and I can access a webpage, it's unbearably slow, and the no-surf problem reappears after a few seconds. The red dots on the Network Diagnostics reappear.
    Apple tech support was not helpful. I've power cycled everything a million times (and that doesn't explain why other computers can connect.) I know it's not my computer, because it can connect to the Netopia just fine.
    I am STUMPED.

  • Connection Timeout after updating to 10.6.6

    I've got Macbook Pro mid 2010, when I was on 10.6.5 there was no problem connecting to Wi-Fi but after the magic update, I always got "Connection Timeout". another thing to add, I can connect to any network via windows 7 I installed on my macbook.

    My two cents is that I have had some type of network problem since install Snow Leopard. I even went back wiped drive and did clean install. Seems their is a problem but not sure if its multiple problems or just one. Safari seems to load pages at a crawl at times. I did several speed tests and found the WIFI connection noticeably slower (about half) compared to my Windows Vista computers running WIFI. Even though my MacBook has N version connection and the Vista ones G.
    I have tried different DNS servers and nothing seems to help. The router is the second one I tried. I had a Linksys wrt54 then bought a Belkin F5d8236-4 and both have no effect on the problem. Even a different browser did not help. I have simply determined that Apple needs to fix something in Snow leopard.
