I have gone thru with the notes and it didn't help me much.
I have used J2SDK 1.4.2_17 nad JCE_Policy-1.4.2 files.

Hi,
1. Did you select java path (Export CD/DVD) while intsallation? Check once again.
2. Add JAVA_HOME = Java path in environment variable.
3. What is the exact error, you got it, post error here.

Problems in JDK upgrade while installing patches

Hi ,
I had done a complete installation of EP6.0 SP9 SR1 including Oracle 9.2.0.6 ,WAS6.0 SR1 with KMC . This was done on j2sdk1.4.2_06 . Now to install the patches the guide prompts to use j2sdk1.4.2_09 or higher . I proceeded to upgrade the jdk verison . I took the help of SAP notes 718901 and 731269 . In one of these notes it says
"Option 1:
Edit the instance profile in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_JC<num>_<host> and add the following line
jstartup/vm/home = <location of the new jdk>
Notes:
Because this setting has precedence over individual JDK settings in the J2EE Engine configuration database and the sdm_jstartup.properties file, the new JVM will be picked up by all processes which are started through the startup framework including the SDM. Manually changing the sdm_jstartup.properties file is not necessary.
The Visual Admin, ConfigTool, and SDM GUI have their JDK configured in the startup batch files. Please change these scripts for the new JDK."
I edited the instance profile as said . I also made changes to sdm_jdk.sh to point to the newly installed jdk version .As suggested in one of the notes I did not delete the older version of jdk . After the installation and making changes to the newly installed version for JDK I restarted the server and all the server nodes are green which gives me the impression that the serccver is up and running but when i try to access the portal page by the URL http://<host>:50000/irj/portal it does not display the page . The error is "page cannot be displayed"
The other problem is I am not able to run the visual administrator tool and the SDM server .
While connecting to the default connection of the visual administrator I get the following error
" Unable to lookup connection default
http://<host>:8101/msgserver/text/logon returned empty list of connection parameters "
While trying to connect to the SDM server the error is
"Could not establish the connection to the server <host> at port 50018: Connection refused: connect "
In the note it is mentioned that for configtool,visual administrator and SDM GUI you will have to make changes in their startup batch files . Where exactly do I need to make the changes because I could not locate any piece of code in their start batch files (.sh files) which is pointing to the JDK installed on the server machine . Can you please help me locate those files where these changes are to be made .

Error in XPRA_EXECUTION phase while upgrading patch in solman 7.0.

I was upgrading solman system( 7.0 ) from patch level 10 to patch level 13 , while upgrading it throwed error in XPRA_EXECUTION phase. Error is in SAPK-40003INCPRXRPM and SAPK-40004INCPRXRPM.

Info about Win 7 instalation

Hi,
I have recently bought a new hard drive and now i will install win 7.
My question is, when I bought my T60 it came with all the thinkvantage tehcnologies instaled but now i don't know how to do it. I'm refering mostly to the 15Gb drive of rescue and recovery and all that stuff. How can I install all that software with a new hard drive with out any backup or migration??

If you're talking about the recovery partition on the hard drive, you will not be able to install that. You are doing a clean install of Win7.
If you want to install the TVT software and other Lenovo software on your laptop, I recommend downloading the TVSU (ThinkVantage System Update) tool from this website:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVSU-UPDATE
Be sure to install version 4.0 as it works only with Windows 7. This utility can assist you in locating and updating some of your missing drivers and/or programs.

I installed Sneak Preview (sp9) and tried to use sdm to ins ltall patches..
There are errors coming up .. I tried to inst sp12 patches i think...
WHat all i should do to check the errors?
should i install sp 10 sp 11 b4 going for sp12?
How can i trouble shoot?

Check the logfiles of SDM under C:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\SDM\program\log
Look there from the files which are created today and search for relavent errors.

GEtting "cannot get uid of user "sdb" while installing patch 19 for

I'm applying patch 19 for Livecache 7.7 on a solaris system. When I execute the sdbupd , I get this error when it tries to load the appropriate software updates.
We have the sdb user defined in our system as "sdblvs" lvs is our sid. It does exist locally and is locked.
Do not understand why it is loooking for "sdb" as opposed to "sdblvs"
Any ideas?

Sorry, I mispoke - it's 7.7.03.22.
To get around it, we just defined the user "sdb" with the same uid as sdblvs. So we are past it, but are wondering what is going to happen next time we patch. Seems there is something wrong with the install as it is looking for sdb.

I am not sure but I think the problem is with the allocated shared memory size, which right now is:
init.ora

If this is the cause of the problem then how much should i increase it to? and do i need to modify the size in both files or only init<SID>.ora? Is there any SAP Note related to this problem? Thanks.

Hi Vasu,
ORA-4031... for 99% of cases this means one thing:
the database instance is not configured correctly.
To proceed, do the following:
1. get rid of init.ora (it's not used at all)
2. make sure that the init<sid>.ora file is really used.
 If there is a spfile in the %ORACLE_HOME&/database folder
 then this will be used.
3. With your configured shared pool of 85MB your memory should really not be filled up - anyhow it's really too small for a SAP system!
Thus I'd check how much memory the other sga-area members (buffer cache, large pool, streams pool, java pool...) take up.
 Remember on Windows 32 Bit, everything runs in one single process that can only allocate 2GB (or 3GB if you've set this option).

Problem with installing patch SP1b

Hello All,
I have a development server running on XP pro with live cycle 8.0.1. I 'm facing a problem while installing patch SP1b to that server. I have attached the log file.
My problem is
I copied a process' .lca file from a server running on windows server 2003 with patch installed and deployed on the development server. Now in my development XP box, workspace is opening but when i tried to open the process, before rendering the pdf form it is giving "An error occurred during the operation (endpoint id 401). (ALC-WKS-007-027)" error. I have even crosschecked the input xfaform variable also; every thing is perfect. The details are as below:

Installing patch 5217019 takes long time and does not end

Hi,
I try to install patch 5217109 to my TEST instance.While installing patch the 8 workers are selected default.7 of workers are in statu of completed but 1 worker is waiting for long times and does not end.
What can be my problem?

How to change minimum data size of MaxDB while installing SAP ERP 6.0

I am installing SAP ERP 6.0 with MaxDB on a Linux system.
The installation document says the minimum size of SAP data is 70 GB.
But while installing the minimum Data size is showing as 240000 MB (240 GB).
On what parameter/system attribute this value of "Minimum data size" depends?
If possible how can we change this value?

What could be the reason behind this? is it because I used logical volumes instead of raw disks OR
the size of logical volumes?
I created 3 logical volumes. two of them with size 125GB each and one with 30 GB.
What should be the appropriate size of each volumes for minimum data size 240GB?

but before proceeding with the patches you should have prerequisites

Error while installing a patch for Mainwin 5.0.2 on Solaris 2.8

Hi,
I am relatively new in this field, so i apologise for any slip-ups.
We use a Solaris 2.8-SPARC server. I was given an external drive which contained the porting software Visual Mainwin 5.0.2 and was told to install it from the drive. On checking it, i found that the entire folder structure of the software was damaged, i.e. every file of the software was changed to uppercase. UNIX being highly case-sensitive, i manually changed each and every file present in the software directory to lowercase and then ran it.
The software ran fine, it got installed and the license server was also up. the licenses were also nicely distributed. everything was fine until i was asked to install the patch 'vmw502_sunos5_HF1.sh'. While installing i got the following output :
# sh vmw502_sunos5_HF*
Extracting installation package to "/tmp/mwspselfextr27624".
Please stand by ... Done.

when i checked the installation directory, i found that the file 'mwversion.ini' was present inside the directory 'mwver'. I cant see any reason why the patch is not recognizing the file.
Can anybody help?? Any kind of help will really be appreciated.

Hope you already tried: ls -l /export/home/tools/solaris/env/mainsoft/../mwver/mwversion.ini If ls returns the file name, try running the script under truss to find some clues.
% truss -f -vall -rall -wall -o /tmp/mwpatch.log sh vmw502_sunos5_HF*
