Hi,
I have a field in R/3 with the length of 250 but in BW iam not able to create the infoobject with same length250.Max length is 60 it is saying.Is there any alternative for this.

While creating info object under info object catalog (for characteristics only but i can able to create for key figure with out any issue)i am getting below error

Dear Ramesh
I think you are getting the issue with Language conversion.
In case you are creating info object for characteristics , always use the SAP standard info object as reference. This will help to avoid this issue. Is it possible to share which reference SAP standard Info object which you are using. ??

Info object creation and master data attributes

Hai All,
I have customerid, customer name, customer address, customer location. Similarly I have buyerid,buyer name, buyer address, buyer location. I have some more fileds like this for seller and vendor. I am thinking of creating a central location for all this master data creating a infoObject with name "personid" and making all the others attributes like "personname", "personaddress", "personlocation". I will load all the details of customer, buyer, seller and vendor to these objects.
The cental idea is to get all the master data to a central location and then create objects with reference to these objects and let all the data flow. so that I just load the central objects and everything takes whatever it wants from there.
Now my questions
1. Can I just create an object for customerid referencing personid and then as all the other attributes get copied, can I just report on it or do I need to again create all the info objects for the customer details? Also the same for all others buyer, seller and vendor.
2. Is this of any problem if I am reporting on customer or vendor or buyer or seller's details?
Please advise me if the above situation works and let me know if I am going wrong.

yes, you can do so, should no problem.
business content has this kind of approach,
0sold_to, 0ship_to reference to 0customer.
and also 0employee if i'm not wrong.
one thing to consider if the volume data is very high,
put it as line item dimension in infocube.

Creation of master data info object- data coming form a 3rd party system

Hi All
i need to create a master data info - object which connects the customer and the corresponding plant..actually thios data is coming from a third party system and they have maintained 2 tables one for customer and one for the plant details and these 2 tables are connected through some common id which populates unquie id for each customer and is maintained in the plant table with the same id...now both these tables have to be merged together and to be cretaed as a single info object..can any one suggest me as to how to proceed with it.

Hi,
Create a Z-InfoObject with the same format as is used in your 3rd party system for the commonid.
Add Customer and Plant as navigational Attributes.
Create an infosource with these three fields.
Unload (in a CSV-file) the commonid with customer and plant from your 3rd party system.
Load these data to BI into your newly created Z-commonid InfoObject.

Info Space creation error on top of .unx

Hi All,
Version of SAP BO Explorer installed in our machine is 4.0 SP2.
BI Platform version is 4.0 SP5.
Issue 1:
While trying to create Information Space out of .unx, getting the below error:
Failed to retrieve the data source details.
The creation of the data source object tree failed.
No issue in Info Space creation when using Excel as the source.
Issue 2:
When trying to use the Personalize option, getting only Partial results.
Can anyone suggest me on the above 2 issues?

Updated Explorer to SP5.
Now, the screen goes black after providing the login credentials.
In some machines, able to view the screen.
But, the option to create Info Space is greyed out.
Also, once i click on Manage Spaces, the page is getting loaded for sometime finally ends up with the below error:
Failed to retrieve the data source list.
Request timed out
Any suggestions please.

Copy your descriptions of ur Posted Info Objects to a file and hence import that to the Info object list in RSDIOBJ table,
Hence forth u vll get the field name as well as the Info Object Name

Generating export datasource for an info object

Hello Guys
I am working on BW 3.5. I need to generate an export data source for an infoobject so that I can load its texts into another target IO. When I go into the infosources tab, and right click on the particular IO, it gives me the option of creating an export data source.
My question is: How do i transport this data source from DEV --> QA? Do we have to re-create the export data source in each system individually, ie DEV, QA and PROD.
Secondly, when I could see the export data source in the the BWQ source system, i tried moving the transfer rules for the DS to the target IO and it gave an error.
Error message:
Mapping between data source 80CRED_GROUPT and source system BWQCLNT100 is inconsistent
Field CRED_GROUP will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field C_CTR_AREA will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field LANGU will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Field TXTMD will not be delivered from DataSource 80CRED_GROUPT in source system BWQCLNT100
Why is this happening? And as i asked before, can i transport an export DS or do I create it in each environment individually? Please note: This is an export DS for an info object.

Hi Srinivas,
You can transport the export data source across the landscape(Dev to QA).
You do not eed to generate it in each system.
Also ensure that the conversion of logical system names or the source system names has been maintained.
You are right it looks like the data source creation was a problem hence it is not alllowing importing transfer rules.
You may try to recollect the export data source and transport and then once it is transported successfully replicate metadata of the self system.
Now transport the transfer rules.

Assigning CL Info objects to 0MATERIAL

Dear Gurus,
                  I have created CL Datasources(class type 200,001,022)
classtype     basis datasource              Info object
200              0MATERIAL_ATTR            1cl_0mat200(with 36 attribute fields)
001              0MATERIAL_ATTR            1cl_0mat001 (with 69 attribute fields)
022              0PROD_ATTR                   1cl_0prod (with 9attributes)
Now can i know my following assumptions are right----
1). Make them ATTRIBUTES as Navigational Attributes in their respective Info objects..
2).Assign resp.CL Datasources to resp.CL Info sources generated...
3)Develop the ODS and Infocubes with these CL Info objects...
or
1).Should I add the above Info objects(1cl_0mat200 and 1cl_0mat001) as Attributes to 0MATERIAL Info object???
Guys i checked as much threads as i can related to this topic,but could'nt find any specific info...would really appreciate ur help here,guys.

Have u used the CTBW transaction for datasrc creations for classification data for materials? The CTBW_Meta trasaction will take care of the necessary attribute objects to be created.

Creating Info Objects

Hi,
I have some datasources and each datasource has 100's of infoobjects.
I wan create in mass but the tcode ctbw_metadata does not work for BI.7 datasources i guess.
i also thought of using excel with abap program but for that i again have do manual work of copying objects from datasources and properties in single coloum format in excel.
Is there no way i can create all objects of particular datasource directly in BI7?

Hi Syed,
The t-code CTBW_META in BW is speciific for Classification datasources.
You cant use it to create IOBs for any other datasource...
I guess there is an article which deals with creation of multiple Info objects by creating custom transaction. not sure how helpful it can be for you since you need 100 IOB's per data source.

Uploading of master data
Log on to your SAP
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELLING
1. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. Alternatively monitor icon can be used.

I want to know how to delete all user created info objects in my laptop.the situation is while practicing SAP in my laptop ...creation of user info objects occured heavily resulting in degrading the system performance.so is there any procedure to delete all info objects(user created)making a system a newly SAP installed one....please help me....

Hi Ravi,
u can try it manually to delete the User defined objects..
or u can use the prg: RSDG_IOBJ_DELETE and in that u can give some selection of objects for the deletion..

Info object may be a maximum of 000060 digits...... what would be the error?

Hi,
The maximum length supported by one CHAR type infoobject is 60. Check whether you have assigned more.
If you have to load more length ( more than 60) split the total thing into different infoobjects. Create different infoobjects and split the total thing into them - like 1st 60 char in 1st infoobject, char 61-120 in 2nd infoobject and so on. Then you can again concatenate them.

Error while activating the info object.

While activating one of the info objects, i am getting the following error message:
Characteristic 0BP_GRP: Cannot switch off InfoProvider property
Message no. R7B289
Diagnosis
The characteristic receives master data from other objects (for example, transformations or update rules). Therefore it is necessary to select the characteristic as an InfoProvider.
Procedure
If you want to deselect the Characteristic Is InfoProvider indicator, delete the corresponding objects in the data flow.

How to activate the Info object catalog in Business content

Hi,
While trying to activate the Info object catalog, I found that some of the info objects under this catalog was earlier activated by some other developer. I brought this catalog (0SALES_CHA01) over to the Business content activation panel ( with only 'necessary object settings ) and all the info objects that also came along were de-selected since I didn't want to install those again). When I tried to install these I get an error indicating that some of the info object in question are not already active.. and ultimately the catalog doesnt get activated , although more than half of its infoobjects are already active under the '0CHANOTASSIGNED' node.
Please let me know whether I can get only the Catalog activated without getting any existing activated info object merged or installing those which are not already activated.

Hello Arunava,
Just drag the infoobject catalog as u did earlier to the left in the bus cont installation screen with "only necessary object" option.
Dont try to deselect any object. Go ahead with the default options and install in background.
Now you can check for the available objects in the catalog. if you have some objects missing, and available in unassigned node,double click on the newly installed infoobject catalog, select the required objects (which are not yet assigned to this) from the left side and bring them to the right side.
this will make the unassigned objects assigned to the required catalog.

BI end routine at transformation to populate info object by vlookup attribu

I am APO consultant working in Bi routines and I have the follwoing situation and need some guidance in ABAP code (routine) .
We sales info from markets as flat filea snd lod them into cubes. One of the filed is file is External sales Group: ZEXSGRP. This is an attribute or Sales Group info object ZSLSGRP.
We get external sales group populated in file when we upload the file into cube - I want to use end routine to vlook up the info infoobject table ZSLSGRP - all the external sales groups and use the matching value to write Sales Group (ZSLSGRP).Example if ZSLSGRP is NAM and it attribute is ZEXSGRP and has value N0000032. The file gets value N0000032 so the end routine should look all attribute of all infoobject ZSLSGRP and match the value and populate in example above it populates NAM.
Hope i am clear - can any help with this.

Replace your select statement ,
SELECT *

instead of selecting all the fields , pick only the fields which are required.(one good performance improvement)
SELECT /BIC/PZF31SALOFF comp_code
FROM /BIC/PZF31SALOFF
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE it_tab4.
Remove the line below , this is not required
MODIFY it_tab4 FROM wa_tab4.
