  • Info regarding upgrade project

    Hi Experts,
am going to join to do upgrade project (ECC6.0) till now i ve worked on up to 4.7 only, so what is required knowledge for upgrade project.
and what is unicode is it required for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    sudha.

    Hi,
ECC 6.0 does not support MDMP installations. For those systems, a Unicode
conversion needs to be done before the upgrade to ECC 6.0. A combined Unicode
conversion / release upgrade is another possibility. In such a project, the system is
upgraded to ECC 6.0 and migrated to Unicode in one step.
All this does not apply to your environment. Non-Unicode, single code pages systems
are still supported in ECC 6.0. You have to option to an upgrade to ECC 6.0 and migrate
to Unicode at a later stage. If you want, you can also do a combined Unicode
conversion / release upgrade project which does both in one step.
I cannot predict the expected downtime as it depends on many different factors such as
the database size, size of the biggest table, number of CPUs and amount of memory in your system.

  • Import FrameMaker info new RoboHelp project with extendscript

    Hi,
I have done the following in robohelp 11 from Adobe Technical Communication Suite 5
    1) select file|new|project
    2) select import tab
    3) Select the FrameMaker Documents option icon
This works quit well. I get a new RoboHelp project.
I would like to do the same via a RoboHelp extendScript but I can't get it to work.
Does anyone have some hints or good exampels to be inspired from?
    Thanks
    Alex

It does depend on how fancy you want to make it. Creating a GUI with
file picker is quite a bit of work.
But if you only want a script to create a new project and import an FM
book, that's not too hard. For example:
    RoboHelp.newProject('', 'MyProject', 'C:\temp\rh\scriptproject',
    'MyProjectTitle',);
    RoboHelp.project.importFrameMakerDoc('D:\FM\FMBook.bk','FMFolderinRH','D:\FM\FMBookTOC.fm' ,'RHTOCName',true,'RHIndexName','RHGlossary');
    (Untested)
Run RH via command line with the script name as parameter: robohtml.exe
    -x script.jsx
There is not much information on ExtendScript in RoboHelp. You can find
two introductory articles in the RoboHelp Developer Center to get you
    started: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp.html
If you want to do something more advanced, I have a free RH library for
extendscript to make working with scripts easier. It includes functions
as reading/writing files, setting context sensitivity, saving settings
    and more. See
    http://www.wvanweelden.eu/product/robohelp-extendscript-library
    Kind regards,

  • Project info setting vs. preference setting--which wins?

I just noticed for the first time after burning hundreds and hundreds of discs that my project info setting was on best performance not best quality. As this project is more that 65 minutes plus menus, I chose best quality in preferences. But my project info panel says the project is best performance.
Which am I using? By the way, the dvd looks great on television, so I don't want to change anything. I just want to know, for future reference, exactly what I am doing.

    Thanks, guys. That makes sense.
A follow-up question regarding project info. I understand that 60 minutes was the standard limit for best performance. After that, it was recommended to use best quality. I assume that since my project looks very nice on best performance and is over the limit as far as minutes are concerned, the real deciding factor seems to be gigs of info in the project, not minutes. According to the bar in project info, the project, including menus, is using 3.8 gigs, which means I am safe to use best performance. Am I understanding that correctly?
Second, have you noticed a significant jump in quality when going from best performance to professional quality in idvd 8/9? Others, I thought, had not seen so great a difference.
Finally, if I did upgrade to ilife 09 and Snow Leopard, I would want to continue using imovie 6.03, as three years of work resides in imovie 6. What would happen to my projects upon loading those upgrades?
    Thanks!

  • Project Info PDP

Is there a way to edit the Project Info PDP on Project 2010 in the following manner?  I would like to add an explanatory description under the "Start Date"  when a new project (EPT) is initiated in PWA.

Depending on how critical this need is, you could also consider using Javascript to add these decriptions. Here is an article that shows how to do it:

    Try this:
    1. Repair Permissions. Applications>Utilities>Apple's DU
    2. Copy and paste the following to the Finder/Spotlight then drag and drop the plist for iDVD to the trash. Empty the trash.
    "apple.com.iDVD.plist"
    3. Restart
    4. Lastly, Go to:
    apple>about this mac>More info>Contents>Logs
and please post here any error logs that pertain to iDVD.
Hope this helps and please post back with the results.

  • Project Server 2010 - A project blocks My tasks

    Hello!
I am currently unable to open My Tasks page. Here's the short history. We're preparing a presentation with screenshots of various pages on PS2010, and for some reason, a colleague has decided to assign about 250 tasks - almost a whole project to a single
resource. The resource is, of course, me. The moment she does that, My Tasks page stops responding, that is, it starts "O  Loading" and never finishes, printing out only "Unknown error has occurred". Everything else works fine, the
mentioned project is editable in Project Center etc.
Having encountered something similar earlier on a different software, I assumed that some kind of timeout is the cause, i.e. the sql server or the project server cannot process the data in a reasonable time. I checked CPU and memory usage on the PS, and
it was mostly idle. Then I logged to the sql server, and it was stuck on 100%. For a moment, I thought that I had a solution ready, so I added two more virtual processors to the sql server (since everything is on HyperV). Well, it didn't work out. I googled
for a maximum number of tasks PS2010 should be able to support, and I confirmed that 200 tasks represents no problem at all. So now, the sql server is not overloaded, the project server waits for data, and nothing happens.
The error log reports Error ID 7747, and here's the info:
SSP Name: Project Server Service Application
    PSError: NoError (0)
Project Server has encountered an underlying SQL Server exception. Please refer to SQL Server documentation for more details.

Any ideas how to solve this (without deleting the project, which, of course, works)?

Sounds like a timeout of some sort Raptus.  Can't you just get unassigned from the tasks in that plan and then re-publish?  as these were just for a demonstration I guess you can lose them.
    Best regards,
    Brian.

  • Not able to update the project using 'BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN'.

I  want to create a project , with reference to an already existing project.
I am using 'BAPI_PROJECT_GETINFO' to get the data of the existing project.
      The bapi gives the following:
    1)     e_project_definition.
    2)     e_wbs_element_table.
    3)     e_wbs_hierarchie_table
I am passing the u2018e_project_definitionu2019 to 'BAPI_PROJECTDEF_CREATE' to create project. The project is created successfully.
But I am not able to update the project with u2018e_wbs_element_tableu2019
and u2018e_wbs_hierarchie_tableu2019. I am using 'BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN' to update the project.
The program is not giving an error, but it is also not updating the E_WBS_ELEMENT_TABLE and E_WBS_HIERARCHIE_TABLE.

  • How do i burn idvd projects in a dvd format to an external hard disk

I have an iDVD project but it is too big to burn to a dvd (11GB!) so I was wondering if I can save the proejct like a dvd onto my External Hard Disk. This is really urgent and important for a school project.
    Thanks in advance.

iDVD does not care about file size (it compresses a movie file by about 4:1 o the standard mpeg2 format), only about length.
A standard DVD will hold up to 120 minutes of video, but this includes titles, transitions etc.
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced two-pass technology to encode your video (The first pass determines which parts of the movie can be given greater compresson without quality loss and which parts can’t.  The second pass then encodes those different parts accordingly) , resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about the time taken.
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • How do I find out the size of a project in iMovie before sending to idvd?

    Thanks

In this case size doesn't matter. iDVD only cares about length:

  • How can I create a URL for a PWA for MS Project Server 2013 project file that includes the view?

In earlier versions of PWA a URL for a project could include information on the particular view used. This was very handy for emailing people since when they clicked the URL they would see only the particular tasks in that view. In PWA for Project 2013
the URL contains the info for the project file only and does not include the view or filter or anything else.

    Hi Scott,
As far as I can see, this is not possible anymore, since the view's list in the PDP (for example schedule PDP) is affecting only the webpart and not the entire webpage, meaning that the URL is not connected anymore to the view and vice-versa.
    Indeed this could be annoying..
    Hope this helps.

Cannot SHARE project from IMovie to Idvd. Gets so far and then a box with a message saying Unable to prepare project for publishing because an error occured (-41).

Bengt is as always entirely correct, but another meaning of error -41 is that you have chosen the wrong encoding setting for the length of video you have:

  • How do I get project downloaded to 2nd user's PC?

I'm testing RH6 with RoboSource Control 3. Was able
to covert existing project and get it up onto server as single
user. Checking in out as single user is fine. Now, I want to test
how it works with 2nd user.
When 2nd user tries to get project off the server, it seems
to be okay. Used "recursive" to get the file structure.
When she opens the project in RH6, gets error that cpd file
is corrupt. Delete the cpd and try again, same error.
If ignore the error message, the project opens but there are
lots of broken links. Also, the single source info for the project
    is missing (should be FlashHelp).
How do I get this to work for 2nd user? I'm not an IT person,
just a tech writer, so need step by step instructions.

Once you've got the RSC DB set up, loading the project into
source control is easy. First, you'll need to get RH acquainted
with the new DB. To do this, use RSC3 Explorer to open the new
database. Once you've created a connection to the new DB, you can
close the RSC Explorer. Then open your project in RH6 and click the
Add to Version Control button in the RoboHelp toolbar. Select the
correct connection name; other than that, accept the defaults. (For
the Root Path box, you'll probably need to click the "..." button
and then select the top level folder, $.) Wait for the process to
complete. When it's done, all the files will be checked out to you.
Go ahead and check them all back in.
As for the 2nd user, I like to skip some of the setup work by
doing it this way: zip the folder containing the source files and
let the other users extract it onto their machines. They can just
open the project from the xpj, and the setup is largely done for
them already. And for large projects, the cpd file is already
    built, which can save time.
I'm new at RSC3, and I'm working from memory here, so there
may be details missing. Still, that's the general gist.

We have a project I need to get done before summers end and we have majotiy of the code. My company builds robotic systems which we use for industrial inspections mainly in the petrochemical industry.  These robotic systems work with a ultrasonic systems which we use to take thickness measurements of piping and pressure vessels using ultrasound.   We have the ultrasound equipment and most of the software as said previously, we just need it polished up and some additions made.  Here is a link from NI which is simular to what we do and you can even download the code and have a look at there code: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3618 . Our code is a bit more complex but you get the picture.
This position is not a full time position as of yet.  We are looking for someone to work with us on a contract basis for now. We need someone experienced with the following; Data aquisition, Data analysis, Experience with RF, USB comunication.  We perfer to hire somebody local but if we cant we can can do this over the internet.  If you are interested, give us a reply with contact info.  Thanks.

        Bill,
We are able to offer you the help you need on
this.  I work for a LabVIEW/test-system consulting group based here out
of Salt Lake City...not too far if a quick trip is needed.  Among the
six of us, four of us are former NI employees and we count with a lot of LabVIEW experience and regularly do
contract work, local and remote.  This sounds interesting and right up
our alley as far as experience goes.  I'd refer you to our website for
further info about different projects that we've done for many
    clients.  www.mooregoodideas.com.
    If this seems workable for
you, feel free to shoot me a note at [email protected]  I'd be
curious to know more about what you're after and how we can help you
    out.
    Thanks,
    Jim
