Hi,
Oracle BI Enterprise Edition comes with a BI Suite, Is it a seperate package? what are the added components or key differentiators of OBIEE and OBIEE PLUS. I couldnt see a seperate package for OBIEE PLUS on otn.

OBIEE plus added Hyperion and Essbase. There is no separate download. You should only Hyperion and Essbase if you are licensed for them.

I am unable to open a report in BI Publisher which was generated in analysis in OBIEE plus(11g). Previously I did it through Oracle BI Analysis+ in the Data Modle (Data Set).
Now I am unbale to find the reports through same process. I noticed only two empty folders Weblogic and Users.
Can any one tell me how to open the reports in BI Publisher from anaysis..

OBIEE vs OBIEE PLUS

We understand that obiee does not contain essbase. Essbase can be intregated with obiee plus. but does obiee can do 'What if' analysis?
If yes, then which component does it for OBIEE.

You can use Java Script codes on OBIEE Dashboards to perform What If Analysis. I don't have a specific code, it should be based on your logic. But I know this can be achieved in this way.

Are you upgrading or installing on a different server? If you're installing it on your local machine, you might have to modify the NQSConfig file to point to the right directories (C:\OracleBI whereas on the server it might have been D:\OracleBI etc).

OBIEE Plus vs others

We are in process of deciding to implement a suitable BI tool for analytics and reporting purposes. I have the following questions in this regard:
1. What are the factors we should consider while choosing the right tool as it seems that every tool is unique?
2. Possible contenders include Business Objects, Cognos, OBIEE and Hyperion. From my limited knowledge I have come to know that though all of these are reporting tools Business Objects and OBIEE are ROLAP based, whereas Cognos and Hyperion are MOLAP based. I also came across OBIEE Plus which includes features/capabilities of OBIEE along with MOLAP capabilities of Hyperion. So does this mean OBIEE Plus would be a safe bet? Also, and am I right to consider OBIEE Plus as a HOLAP based reporting too,
Any guidance on these questions would be very helpful in us making a calculated decision.

OBIEE Plus Installation - Error - 1064 - BI Server Servie -Urgent!!!!!!!!!!

I have installed OBIEE Plus and when i am trying to start BI Server Service , it's giving Error - 1064 .
1. I didn't made any changes in NQLConfig file.
2. At time of installation , Everything went perfectly.
3. RPD files is also compiled and woring .
I have checked all above things but still it's giving error.

Are you upgrading or installing on a different server? If you're installing it on your local machine, you might have to modify the NQSConfig file to point to the right directories (C:\OracleBI whereas on the server it might have been D:\OracleBI etc).

OBIEE PLus MOLAP

Hi there,
does anyone know if OBIEE is using the ROLAP or MOLAP? I am doing a paper comparison between OBIEE Plus and Microstrategy, and know that Micorstrategy is ROLAP, but an not sure if OBIEE is ROLAP or MOLAP.

OBIEE can be implemented as both ROLAP as well as MOLAP. MOLAP based OBIEE uses Oracle's SQL based access to the OLAP cubes.

Does impersonate() function in OBIEE WSDL work for all types of OBIEE authentication.
Please provide any docs related to impersonation().
I tried for RPD users and it works fine... But for other authentication i could not configure it....

You can execute a script at logon. Check the 'Connection Scripts'-tab on your connection pool. Her you can define a 'Execute on Connect'-script.
This way you can set your client_info en view the Oracle eBS table data.

I want to install de Oracle BIEE Plus but i need a simple guide to do this. The instalation is on Red Hat. I dont have knowledge about this, I never install this product. If you know were is the information about this, tellme.

TS1368 Apple has an old email address, so I can't contact them or get my info anymore. Plus, to give them my phone number to call I am required to have a piece of equipment with a serial number. I don't have that either.

As I have posted before, You, and others having issues with Verizon would be much better off if you complained to the FCC and FTC as well as your Senators and Congressmen. We, as individuals, have such small voices - use them where they might do the most good.
Also, don't assume that Verizon doesn't monitor these postings, they actively do & sometimes contact those that post complaints.

Using Essbase as source for OBIEE 10.1.3.3

Our company is in the process of implementing OBIEE 10.1.3.3 and I was trying to import an Essbase database (7.1.6) as a source for the Physical layer. However it looks like there was a change from 10.1.3.2 to the version we have. The docs show you can select File/Import/XMLA, however in the newer version instead of XMLA you have "From Multi Dimensional...". When I select this option and fill in the Essbase Server name,ID & pswd it crashes the OBIEE Administrator client.
The error I get before it wants to "Send the Report" mentions this:
AppName: admintool.exe AppVer: 10.1.3.3 ModName: essapinu.dll
ModVer: 7.1.6.6218 Offset: 00008282
I then tried another way by right clicking on the Physical layer and choose "New Database". In there you have a option for the database of "Essbase". However, even when I fill in the server and ID & pswd I can't find anything in the docs showing you how to have it list the Essbase applications and Databases. According to the Oracle Support the docs for 10.1.3.2 are the latest docs which don't mention anything about connecting to Essbase that I can see.
Has anyone tried to use Essbase as the database source for OBIEE 10.1.3.3 and been successful? Any info would be helpful!!

It is my understanding you need at least 10.1.3.3.2 (upgrade/patch).
I'm currently on 10.1.3.3.0 and will be using ESSBASE shortly - so we actually have purchased 10.1.3.3.3 (OBIEE Plus).

Evaluate function not working in obiee 11.1.1.7

Hi all,
I have completed In-place upgrade from obiee 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.7.
After this I am getting an error while running reports,which is created by using evaluate function.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL inside NQSConfig.INI is not set to support EVALUATE
In my NQSconfig.ini I coundnt find EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL. So I have added below content in NQSConfig.ini file
# EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL:
# 1: evaluate is supported for users with manageRepositories permssion
# 2: evaluate is supported for any user.
# other: evaluate is not supported if the value is anything else.
EVALUATE_SUPPORT_LEVEL = 2;
After that I restarted BI services. But still I am facing same error.
Guide me regarding this.

Where to look for the errors
Please help, i have searched everywhere, there are no solutions for this.

If you want to run the EPM weblogic admin server and OBIEE at the same time then you would need for them to run on different ports.
You don't have to select the essbase option when installing OBIEE if you have already installed the essbase products.
I would install OBIEE to a different middleware home than EPM and keep the weblogic domains separate.
