Info Reqd regarding Victoria University, Australia

Hello,
I am interested in doing my MBA in SAP. As far as I have Googled I have found that Victoria University at Melbourne, Australia offers MBA in ERP and Information Systems. Can any of you share some details regarding the University, expenses involved during the stay and other vital information that I have missed asking.
Thanks,
Vivek

Hi,
There has been no convincing replies from the university officials. I have either got OUT of OFFICE replies or brochures which are available in the web link. I had a thought and was looking for  Proff/Student/Ex-Student of the Univ to brief me about the process.
Thanks

  • Looking for a student with experience from Victoria University, Australia

    Hello,
I would like to meet anybody who could provide some more information about how is that to study at Victoria University, Australia and if that is possible for a man from another continent:))
Hope that does not sound that crazy,
    regards Otto

Hello, thank you for the offer.
I have heard that your university has a strong SAP focused program and would like to know if there is any way one would be able for a distant studies... remotely of some kind. I am from Czech rep, Europe, know Paul Hawking and his effort he put into relationships with SAP, but don´t think it would be ok to just write him and ask a favour. So I thought I could find an ordinary man like me, who could point me to some resources or even people he/she knows in person and could recommend, because their interest could intersect with mine.
I think how crazy this sounds, but I believe I have something to offer. Be it SAP related or not. I have a master degree in computer science from a prestigious university in my country but could use to find some friends from abroad and could use a foreign degree. If you feel there is any way how to help or what to advise, please share your thoughts.
This cannot work without a personal interest if any of the teachers and even then it might not be allowed. I just want to doublecheck, because education is an important part of my life and knowledge sharing/ transfer is what we do on SCN. Maybe someody would be able to use my knowledge for the school benefit and would let me get a degree at the same time.
    Thank you for your interest,
    cheers Otto

  • Reg: Masters in ERP-SAP from victoria university melbourne

    Hi All,
I'm kishore from India, this is regarding the Masters in ERP-SAP coursework being offered by victoria university, melbourne. I would like to know wether victoria university is an alliance member of the SAP university alliance programme. I tried to download the excel sheet under the "UA around world" as suggested in most of the threads, but unfortunately not able to do so.Also, I cannot find the university's name in all the random searches I did on the site.  Can anyone please let me know if this course is accredited by the SAP-university alliance programme.
    Expecting your reply eagerly,
    Many Thanks,
    kishore M I

    All ~
I have been following this thread and it seems like there are confusions, apprehensions, doubts and above all a lot of anxiety in doing an SAP course.
I have been working in SAP for almost 12 years, in different roles and capacity and in different areas. My understanding is ERP goes beyond just customization and developing a few custom objects. It is more about understanding the orgnizational processes and leveraging the integrations principles to achieve the strategic objectives. But infortunately the so called institues think that imparting training in a module with a few customzation settings would help the market need. Absolutely NO. It needs more than this. And one way to achieve this is probably making a ERP curricum in the management institutions or in the universitities. Probably VU is a good example to fit in this area. I am not much aware of how VU works but yes the universities around the world need this kind of education to bridge the gax exising between the education institutues and the market need.
The  new bread of MBA students knows the subjects very well in their domain but when it comes to understanding how an organization runs they falter to a great length. Till now I have rejected more than 60 MBA Graduates in the interviews for SAP area not becuase they are not good in their subject or SAP but becuase they don't know the underlying processes and how to meet the EXACT requirements from the customer. The customers now a days are looking for cost effective solutions with a lot of process management stuff involved. The responsibilities of the consultants are not just limited to the implementations alone but adding value to the existing processes and improving the process management. This can only be achieved if one understands the various principles involved in the area of ERP and for that one needs an in-depth knowledge about this. No doubt there are institutes churning out so called SAP consultants but unfortunately they are unable to meet the customer demands and in the end adding up to the fristration of the stake holders and eventually adding to the cost of the projects. This is the real fact.
Addionally to tell you the trugh nobody in this world gives a gurantee for the job. Getting a job is the responsibility of the student, of course the institutes definitely can help in co-ordination. I have recriuited many consultants who knows SAP only about 30% but knows more about the intergrations aspects well, inclduing the organizations core processes. Believe me they are very successful in delivering the solutions.
So just wanted to provide some thoughts on this and probably this might help you folks.

  • Customize ESS..NWDI info reqd.

    Hello All,
I am using EP 7.0 with ECC 6.0 and ESS 1.0.
The applications are working fine. now i want to customize some of the applications say..Bank Info.
I searched the forum and found it can be done using NWDI. I am aware of NWDS but not NWDI.
will request someone to update me on this.
If this required some seperate installation, what all files need to be downloaded and from where?
And how to open the package ESS 1.0 in it to customize it.
    regards
    Justin

    Hi Justin,
Brief info about NWDI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_Netweaver_Development_Infrastructure_(NWDI) for more go through this forum NWDI
You need to install NWDI separately for this you need download the files from SAP marketplace matching to your version.I think you can get the required .SCA files   from SAP market place.
Then you need to create tracks and compartments. Open Development Infrastructure perspective. Then you are able to create a project from your ESS track into your NWDS(For this you need to create an activity). And then do the modifications you want. Then Check-in, Activate and transport the activity to the server.

  • Oracle8 Enterprise Edition for Windows 8.0.6 - Info reqd.  Pls help !

I’m a naïve user in Oracle and would like to know the following details from the Gurus.
Any information in this regard will be highly appreciated !
We are trying to use Oracle8 Enterprise Edition for Windows 8.0.6 for some specific reason.
Some general doubts regarding the installation.
    1. Is any installation specific to the OS language (English/Japanese) ?
    2. Say, if I get an installation for Windows, would I be able to use the same for a Japanese Windows version?
    3. During the installation, choose the default language as Japanese?
Also, if we would need to install Oracle8 Enterprise Edition for Windows 8.0.6 in a Japanese OS, what should we do?
Can we procure a license for the same? Oracle8 Enterprise Edition for Windows 8.0.6
    Can we get the media?
Please advice. Many thanks in advance.

The best way to arrange this is to contact Oracle sales and talk very nice to them.
You are asking to have someone provide you with a piece of software that was very full of bugs and made obsolete before year 2000. Oracle will probably not be very happy to do that.
Besides, Oracle is so upward compatible that - unless you depend on the bugs - you should be able to use any currently supported version. Such as Oracle9i or Oracle10g.

    hi,
For BADI creation look into this blog,
    /people/sergey.korolev/blog/2005/03/14/the-time-for-me-to-have-a-badi-of-my-own
    ALE:
ALE is SAP proprietary technology that enables data communications between two or more SAP R/3 systems and/or R/3 and external systems. When a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution such as R/3 is implemented, companies have to interface the ERP system with legacy systems or other ERP systems.
ALE provides intelligent mechanisms where by clients can achieve integration as well as distribution of applications and data.
ALE technology facilitates rapid application prototyping and application interface development, thus reducing implementation time.
The ALE components are inherently integrated with SAP applications and are robust, leading to a highly reliable system.
ALE comes with application distribution/integration scenarios as well as a set of tools, programs, data definitions, and methodologies that you can easily configure to get an interface up and running.
    IDOC:
Standard SAP format for electronic data interchange between systems (Intermediate Document). Different message types (such as delivery confirmations or purchase orders) normally represent different specific formats, the IDoc types. However, multiple message types with related content can be assigned to one IDoc type: For example, the IDoc type ORDERS01 transfers the "logical" message types ORDERS (purchase order) and ORDRSP (order confirmation).

  • Regarding region lock (Australia)

    A couple of questions:
    1. I'm traveling to Japan and was wondering if I could bring my iphone along, throw in a japanese sim to make calls and access the internet. I've got a 3GS on Virgin.
    2. A friend of mine wants to get an iphone, would he be able to get one in japan that isn't region locked? And would it be any cheaper?
    Thanks guys

Is there a way to work out whether my iphone is unlocked? I only got it a month ago and I haven't done anything to unlock it.
If it isn't, how do I get it unlocked? Does it cost anything?

  • Incorrect graphics card info. with regards to win 10 upgrade

Hi trying to register for win 10 upgrade, m/c has radeon hd 3400 card, this shows in device manager, and on specs shown by HP support assistant. The win 10 app, keeps telling me I am incompatible because the Nvidia Geforce 6150se nforce 430 is not supported, which is the onboard graphics. I have uninstalled this nvidia software, and set bios to use the radeon as primary graphics, any ideas pleasethanks

Hi: If you are willing to roll the dice, see if this works... Try the direct download and immediate upgrade method. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 I would think that you can use the W7 32bit nForce 430 chipset driver, that it might work. You may have to manually install the driver if the auto install method doesn't work. W7 32 bit chipset driver... http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/14874/en-us While I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, I can almost guarantee you that no one is going to develop W8.1 or W10 drivers for that chipset or graphics adapter. You would have to roll back to W7 if the above suggestion doesn't work. Here's how to roll back... http://www.askvg.com/how-to-restore-previous-windows-version-after-upgrading-to-windows-10/

  • Help me shaping my Career!!

    Hi Gurus,
I am working with an infrastructure firm since last one year as a SAP MM Consultant. This is the total experience I have in SAP. I wanted to know what would be the best possible career option for me :-
    a) If I continue as SAP MM Consultant with my current firm and side by side I apply to other companies as well.
    b) I go for ABAP course
    c) I go for M.S. Program in SAP from Victoria University, Australia.
    d) I go to Canada, Ragina region for PGDM course in SAP.
    Please help guys!!
    Thanks!

You are probably at the best place where you should be. Most difficult part of SAP career is breaking into an SAP CAREER. Almost all of the SAP jobs are for experienced professionals and it is very tough for the beginners to enter, even after doing SAP Certification which costs a lot. Luckily you are already into it. Stick with it. Gain 2-3 years of overall experience in the present company if you have good learning opportunity there. Else try to do a part-time course into MM module only and make sense out of the things at your present job. Once you understand Materials Management processes, your doubts will automatically go away and you will be confident in applying for jobs. If you want more credentials to add to your profile, SAP Certification can a good choice. The discussion on the topic of SAP Certification can be very lengthy. [You can read the following educational resource on SAP Certification.|http://www.best-career-guide-for-erp.com/sap-certification.html]
    Hope it helps

  • List of companies Implemented SAP

    Hi
I am looking for the list of companies implemented SAP or ERP in the UK or Europe, or USA. Can anybody help please?
I need this list for my project. I am using questionnaire and interview to validate my research. But I found it hard to find the list of companies . And it is harder to arrange for interview.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Just some words of advice.  I have helped many students and staff with research in regards to enterprise systems and SAP.  You need to be careful using a survey.
You need to ask yourself the following questions:
    1.  How do I get a list of companies?
    2.  Do I care what the companies have implemented or how long have they been using SAP solutions.
    3.  Does it matter what culture they operate in?
    4.  Do they use a global template?
    5. Does size matter?
    6.  Does industry matter?
    7.  Who is best to answer the questions?
    8.  How can you ensure that they get the survey?
    9.  Do they have to speak to others to get the answers?
All these factors have an impact on the success of the survey.  I usually suggest to researchers is to not use a survey or use the survey as guide for asking questions in an interview/case study.  If you can attend an industry event and ask the questions of the attendees at the event then you usually get more responses and richer responses.  At the sam time you may develop a relationship with some companies which you can conduct future resaerch with.

  • I am looking for PG Certification in ERp/SAP

    Hi All,
I am looking for PG Certification in ERp/SAP. I am looking for a course which Multiple modules are Covered in SAP. So please Share details with me, regarding which university Offering this type of courses.

    Hi
There are many different universities which offer curriculum which include different aspects of SAP.  An emerging trend is to add "bolt on" SAP Consultant Certification training.  The most popular of these is TERP10.  A quick search of this site and you will find details aboutr this course.
There are a few universities who are allowed to offer other SAP Consultant Certification.  This can take the form of classroom training, elearning or a combination of both.
In terms of classroom training, University Technology Sydney offer FI/CO courses.  In terms of online there are 2 options.  The first is SAP eAcademy which which is offered by private providers and some universities and is available to the general public.  The SAP uAcademy is offered by a few universities in the world and is only available to university students.  Accordingly it is usually significantly cheaper.
    Hope this helps

  • DId ERP evolve from MRP.

    Hi
This is something which has been a annoyance of mine for some while now.  Nearly every ERP related research paper I have read indicates the ERP systems evolved from MRP.  But is this really the case?  They have similair abbreviations.
I  would assume that if it was true then some of the current ERP systems would have been an MRP system in a previous life.  From my research I could not find any examples of this in the top tier systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft)  I know many of these systems have now been merged but I am talking from an historical perspective.
The first mention of this evolution was by Davenport in his famous HBR article.  Have academics blindly accepted this proposition without investigating.  Anyway by wait of numbers now it must be true.  I am interested to see some opinions.
    Good luck

    Hi Paul,
In my opinion, as times passed by, I think its an evolution/ manifestation of the paradim of managing companies assets.
Earlier it was fragmented (not integrated) so the finance dept had Accounting package, Production dept had MRP package, Purchasing dept had Inventory package and HR dept had HRM package etc......
And we know that today these departments are integrated as "Enterprise Resource Planning" and not as "Departmental/ Functional Resource Planning".
Infact SAP's evolution in the very early days shows signs of the fragmentation and then moved on to Integration as its USP and now to de-coupling.
The most interestig thing which occurs to me in this discussion is the de-coupling of the integration for the purpose of making the software flexible in the lines of SOA and also maintenance and enhancement of the appplication.
So instead of saying "Functional/ Departmental" earlier, we now say "De-Coupled" to align with SOA. But the Departmental and Functional concepts exist within ERP. So, the ERP has not just evolved from MRP but from other software components within the company as mentioned above.
    This is my perspective.
