Info Structure S031 - Information on movement type categories
How can I find out the movement type categories for the S031 info structure? For instance what movement types add to the "Goods receipt" total or the "Goods issue" total. Also, how do you "switch off the updating process for specific, individual movements" as mentioned in the SAP documentation below.
The SAP documentation says:
"Goods movements are divided into the following types:
Goods receipt
Goods issue
Stock transfer
Transfer posting
Inventory differences
You can switch off the updating process for specific, individual movement types in inventory management or in one of the subsequent applications in the logistics chain."

I had similar requirement. You have two options:
1. Just as you've known you can use the field "Statistically relevant".
With this indicator, you control whether a movement type is statistically relevant for Inventory Controlling or not.
In the standard system, all movement types are set in such a way that all material movements for the valuated stock and for the vendor consignment stock are updated.
2. You can define by statistic group:
As of Release 3.0C, there is a customer-specific enhancement that enables you to define a maximum of 4 statistics groups for each movement type. The name for the statistics group has four digits and is freely definable. With the help of the statistics group, you can individually update key figures of Inventory Controlling.
Example: Key figure Consumption and Range of coverage
In table T156, the movement types are characterized as relevant to consumption. Consumption is correspondingly updated in Inventory Controlling. In the information system, it can be useful for the user to interpret issue quantities (that is actually no consumption) as consumption in order to calculate the range of coverage of the material.
Example: A material is always transported into another plant by stock transfer. In the issuing plant, no range of coverage can be calculated because the stock removal quantity is not affecting consumption (movement type 351).
What is to be done in detail?
a) Maintain table TMCA via Transaction SM31.
b) Use SAP enhancement MCB10001 for Inventory Controlling.
Here, you can change the field contents of communication structures MCBEST and MCBEST according to your requirements.
In the above-mentioned example, the source code in the SAP enhancement would have to be as follows:

In our DEV system, Info Strucres S031, S032 & S033 stopped updating after 09/03/2009. There are material documents after that date, but infostrucres are not updated. All these info structures are active, and all their requirements are also active. So, what could have gone wrong - how to resolve this ? BTW, in QAS and PRD, these info structures are being updated. Kindly help.

The structures are always updated when you execute a transaction that is supposed to update the struture, almost real time. The small technical difference: it is updated asynchronous.
Means you have a time difference of a few milliseconds to seconds from the synchronous posting of a material document and its update in the infostructure.
And if the update of the infostructure fails for some technical reason, then this would have no impact to the original material document. In other words, an update error of an infostructure can lead to inconsistencies.
Tthe regeneration of the infostructure is certainly the way to get the info back to have good numbers in the infostructures. However, you have to investigate first why you have this inconsistencies and what caused them, then you have to make sure that this failure will not happen again (maybe by implementing an OSS note), and then you can think about regenerating the infostructure.
For re-generation, nobody must post anything that updates this infostructure, and the re-generation can last some hours, so it is not a task that can be executed every week.

A box of the structured material S contains 3 pieces of the component K1 and 4 pieces of the component K2. The following material document items result after the material is split at goods receipt:

317 Creation of a structured material from constituent components (Retail)
A material split into its components using movement type 319 can be rejoined using movement type 317.
Movement type 317 has the same effect as a cancellation of movement type 319.
319 Split structured material into components (Retail)
You can enter the splitting of a structured material manually using movement type 319.
You can configure Customizing so that a structured material (for example, (z.B. set, prepack or display) is automatically split into its components at goods receipt. The system posts the split using movement type 319. In this process, the BOM header material is posted and each of the component stocks are increased.

PujaConsumption posting is controlled through table T156, field KZVBU (consumption posting) and KZSTR (statistics relevance). KZVBU controlled whether a movement type is considered planned or unplanned withdrawal. You can configure these fields through transaction OMJJ and double click on specific movement type.
Please note that the once you made the configuration change, the rule will be applied on future posting. It will not recalculate existing material document, unless you rebuild the info structure S031.

Below you will find a short description of the standard movement types. The reversal movement type is the movement type + 1 (reversal of 101 = 102).
101 Goods receipt for purchase order or order
If the purchase order or order has not been assigned to an account, a stock type (unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality inspection, blocked stock) can be entered during goods receipt.
If the purchase order or order has been assigned to an account, the goods receipt is not posted to the warehouse, but to consumption.
In the case of non-valuated materials, the goods receipt is posted to the warehouse, although the purchase order has not been assigned to an account.
Possible special stock indicators:
K Goods receipt for purchase order to consignment stock
O Goods receipt for purchase order to stock of material provided to vendor
E GR for purchase order or order to sales order stock
Q GR for purchase order or order to project stock.
Goods receipt for
subcontract order: at goods receipt, the consumption of the components is posted at the same time (see movement type 543)
Goods receipt for
stock transport order: at goods receipt the transported quantity is posted in the receiving plant from stock in transit into unrestricted-use stock (stock in quality inspection or blocked stock).
103 Goods receipt for purchase order into GR blocked stock
You cannot receive goods into goods receipt blocked stock for stock transport orders.

121 Subsequent adjustment for subcontracting
This movement type cannot be entered manually.
With a subsequent adjustment for a subcontract order it is possible to correct the consumption of components. In this case, the material produced by the supplier is credited with the excess consumption / under-consumption. For this reason, if there is a subsequent adjustment, an item is generated for the produced material using movement movement type 121.
Movement type 121 does not have a reversal movement type.

122 Return delivery to supplier or to production
Using movement type 122, you can distinguish real return deliveries for a purchase order or order from cancellations (102).
In the standard version, you must enter a reason for the return delivery if you are using movement type 122. This enables you to carry out evaluations for return deliveries.
The effects of movement type 122 correspond to a cancellation of movement type 101.

Using movement type 441, you can make a transfer posting for an empties material from the stock type "unrestricted-use" to the stock type "tied empties". Movement type 442 reverses this transaction.
Example:
The full product "beer" has a stock of 15 cases. Part of the empties components "bottle" and "case" is tied empties stock.

The transfer posting can be posted via a delivery in Shipping.

Can we use Movement Type other than 653
Hi all
we are using movement type 653 for material which are being returned by customer.
we dont want to create FD ( Free of Chagre) Sales order against the returned delivery.
Problem
The Return Delivery is being showed in VLO6 transaction,(outbound delivery),we dont want the return delivery to get displayed in this transaction.Is their any other transaction we can use inplace of 653,in order to get material in unrestricted stock as well as the delivery should not be get displayed in the transaction.
I have created the new return delivery type (By copying LR) and at the time of runing the T-code VLO6,I exclude that delivery.
In this way the delivery is not being shown.
If there is any other way to slove this issue please let me know.

Not sure on this. When you say you created a return delivery, how it is appearing in outbound delivery list. For information, standard movement types in SD for returns are 651, 653 & 655 and transfer the blocked stock to unrestricted use with movement types like 453, if you wish to do so.
But strictly speaking, all returns will have to be addressed in QM and only after their clearance, any returned material should be reused.

Below you will find a short description of the standard movement types. The cancellation movement type is the movement type + 1 (cancellation for 101 = 102).
101 Goods receipt for purchase order or order
If the purchase order or order has not been assigned to an account, a stock type (unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality inspection, blocked stock) can be entered during goods receipt.
If the purchase order or order has been assigned to an account, the goods receipt is not posted to the warehouse, but to consumption.
In the case of non-valuated materials, the goods receipt is posted to the warehouse, although the purchase order has not been assigned to an account.
Possible special stock indicators:

It plays a central role in Automatic Account determination. Together with other factors Movement types determines which stock or consumption accounts are updated in Financial Accounting.

101 Goods receipt for purchase order or order
If the purchase order or order has not been assigned to an account, a stock type (unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality inspection, blocked stock) can be entered during goods receipt.
If the purchase order or order has been assigned to an account, the goods receipt is not posted to the warehouse, but to consumption.
In the case of non-valuated materials, the goods receipt is posted to the warehouse, although the purchase order has not been assigned to an account.

If a purchase order item is marked as a returns item in a stock transport order using movement type 641 when a goods receipt for a stock transport order ( 101) is posted, the return is posted to stock in transit using movement type 161. When the return arrives, the issuing plant posts the goods receipt for the return using movement type 671. Movement type 671 (like movement types 352 and 642) reduces the receiving plant's stock in transit and increases the issuing plant's unrestricted-use stock.

673 Returns for cross-company stock transport order
(Shipping)
If you post a goods issue for a cross-company stock transport order with returns items using movement type 643 via Shipping, the returns are transferred to unrestricted-use stock in the issuing plant in a second step using movement type 673.

52 Weeks Movement type routine help
Hello Friends
I have a requirement that i need to get from the Material Segment table the movement type 551-711 for 52 weeks. in accordance with plant,stor_loc and material into an ODS A. This ODS A will have plant,material,stor_loc and a field say 'balance'.This balance should have the diffrence of 551-711 in it.i need to know where and what codes should i write.Ill have to write a code in Start Routine to only get the 551 and 711 movement types for 52 weeks and probably then in Update Rule Routine of object 'balance' ill have to my calculation.If this is not the right way please direct to what it should be and also if you could please provide me the codes as i have not a had a lot of experience with routines and coding.

As per understanding of your requirement, you only need the data for the specific movement types and you want the report for the difference of these movement types.
First selcting the data can be done at info package level or transfer rules or the update rules or the start routine. i would suggest the selection at infopackage level.
i assume that the key figure balance is mapped directly from the source rather than a calculated one.
if this is the case, then write a simple code in the trasfer rules. first in the movement type hardcode the selection to "551" and "711" at transfer rule level or the info package level.
secondly for the balance key figure use this code at the transfer rule level
if
movement type = "551".
result = TRAN_STRUCTURE-balance.
elseif movement type = "711".
result = -1 * TRAN_STRUCTURE-balance.
endif.
Finally use the summation function at the update rule level ( i suppose you dont have the movement type field in the info provider ODS)
If the movement type field is in the info provider ODS or if the "balance" is a claculated field or the data at the source is not maintained at weekly level and you are trying to sum it in the info provider level. then you cannot achieve this at any level i.e. for example if you use the coding to calcualte at start routine then as it is just packet based and you can get the difference of data contained in the data packet and not the whole data.
this can be achieved only by a loopback method of repopulating the data once again back into ODS from the same ODS.
My reply might be a solution for or might be too confusing. please read through it and let me know if its of any help. if this doesnot help you. please elaborate your question.

Can anybody tell me what material movements (Movement types) populate the field 'Total Usage Quantity(MGVBR)' in table S031? Any idea how to find out these mvmt. types.

This is the field of a report.This field represents the total usage of a material on a perticular posting date.This is updated whenever a consumption happens for the material.
It is the Total of planned and unplanned consumption.
The planned consumption is updated when goods are taken from the warehouse as a result of a reservation. The unplanned consumption is updated when goods are taken without a reservation.
In the standard of Inventory Controlling this key figure is updated at the information structures S031 und S034 at the posting date.

I am currently working on a requirement for Material Document Interface.
<u><b>The Requirement is as below:</b></u>
(1) The user creates/modifies a material document using MB01/MB03/MIGO for movement types 313 and 201 separately.
(2) The user maintains additional information by creating a NOTE using the option
SERVICES FOR OBJECT --> CREATE NOTE.
(3) To Print the materail document information.
<u><b>The Approach is followed is:</b></u>
1) I have to retrieve the Address for From and To Locations respectively along with document data and display it as Simple List output.
Approach:
I retrieved the data from MKPF and MSEG tables respectively.
Also retrieved the data for FROM and TO locations using table TWLAD and function module ADDR_GET.
(2) I also need to retreive additional information created by the user using the option SERVICES FOR OBJECT --> CREATE NOTE.
<b>Approach:
Request your guidance and inputs to solve the point (2) mentioned above.</b>
I have debugged the SAP Standard tcode MB01, MB03 ,MIGO which have the option SERVICES FOR OBJECT --> CREATE NOTE.
I have also used ST05 to trace the transaction to get a proper solution.
But, i was able to observe that only a table SOOD provides the initial required info only which points to a office document type.
Looking forward to your valuable inputs, so that i can retrieve the data entered using the option SERVICES FOR OBJECT --> CREATE NOTE.
