Can we use key figure as infoprovider

Hi.....
Keyfigures are nothing....but amount and Quantity.....to analyze a keyfigure u need a characteristic.......without characteristic ......only a value is meaningless...In infocube keyfigures are facts..........in Characteristic infoobject also u can use keyfigure as an attribute........but u cannot use only a keyfigure as an infoprovider...

Standard InfoObject as InfoProvider

Hi guys,
adding a standard InfoObject to a catalog (characteristics) it shouldn't be a problem to set the InfoObject as InfoProvider.
Am I right? Or should I make a copy of it?
Because others are using the InfoObject too (0....) and this is the first time I will do experiments with one standard InfoObject as Infoprovider.
I think this standard InfoObject in my catalogue will be handled like a copy or something like that and shouldn't take effect to the original.

The requirement is to do reporting for one InfoCube.
The problem is that one InfoObject can't be defined as key figure but only as characteristic.
I'm trying and searching for a solution for this.
This means I have to combine one InfoCube with one characteristic and don't know how.

Unable to add new Infoobject from Infoprovider to multiprovider

Hello Experts,
I have a multiprovider which joins four different Cubes. Now, I added a new Infoobject to one of those Cubes but I am unable to transfer that InfoObject from the Cube to the multiprovider. I tried the identify characteristics option in the edit multiprovider mode but I was unable to see that Infoobject in the base cube to which it is added. The only unusual thing about this Infoobject is that it is not linked to any source field and set to initial in the update rules as I am populating it using a ABAP code in the end routine. I am not sure if this has got to do anything with the problem
Any help in this regards will be appreciated and points will be duly assigned.

Authorizations: restrictions for InfoObjects and InfoProvider

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to define authorizations via RSECADMIN in 7.0 for a specific InfoObject and specific InfoProviders. The situation is: I want user USER1 to see only Company 4360 on Cube 'XXXXX', but he must be able to see all the Companies in all the other Cubes.
I have used in RSECADMIN the icon "InfoCube Authorizations" to introduce the single Cube and corresponding single values for my Company, but it seems that the system use this restriction for all the Cubes.
Please help me.

Hi Venkat,
You can try to use Flexible update. For this you will need to make your InfoObject an InfoProvider. See here for an example:

Why do we use insert characteristic as infoprovider

We mainly use infoobject as infoprovider for following reasons :
1) When you want to do reporting on master data .
2) When you want your infobject to act as a datatartget . So in this you will need to build transformation and everything .

Characteristic as InfoProvider and Key in ODS?

Hi,
Can I use a Characteristic as both InfoProvider and as KeyField in ODS?
If I have to use it as InfoProvider I need to turn on "Character is InfoProvider" in Master Data/Texts tabstrip.
So will setting this option to effect my using of same characteristic as keyfield in an ods?

The only thing the InfoObject as InfoProvider does is make the master data a reportable target. You can then build queries to report on the master data, and build Infosets between the ODS and the master data InfoProvider to be able to do some of the slow moving item reporting.

Delete the data content for one InfoObject in processchain

Hi Guys,
We have requirement to delete the data content for one InfoObject in processchain(daily) .We made this infoObject as InfoProvider.
Could you please tell me is there any function module or abap program or any other alternative to do this and which can be added to processchain.

just use the RSPC-maintenance screen and look for "deletion of requests from PSA" or something like that.
Add it in the Processchain, run it...c'est tout.

Creation of dynamic pages on the fly based on the user information provided

Hi,
I would like to know how to pass the parameters between two pages in a page group.
If the user submits some data from 1st page(say clicking of the submit button)the next page should be displayed automatically and the data that has been appended to the URL should be collected by the following page and should be ready for processing.
Kindly provide me pointers to do the same.

virtual keyfigure and virtual characteristic are infoobjects in infoprovider that not store data/values,but populated in query execution time, via user exit
(zxrsrtop, zxrsru02, zxrsruzzz).

1. I need to define a query, to compare the planed-date and the current-date(today), if planed-date>today, then in the new column, the firstday of the month will be listed
(e.g. 1-12-2005).
could you give me some suggestion, how can I found the functions of reading date in Query Designer.(I didn't find any function in the Form).
2. Any how can I add Macro in the report? is there some document I can read in SDN?

Hi Tony,
I dont know details about your infoobjects design tech aspects. Hence, I propose that what will work. You can adjust your design accordingly.
I encountered a problem while working with dates determined as key figure attribute.
But with dates as reference to 0CALDAY attributes everything works.
So, we have a Project infoobject. Create plan-beg-date and plan-end-date characteristics with reference to 0CALDAY. Assign them as attributes to Project. For testing purposes enter manualy several master data for it. Insert it as a data target (RSA1, infoproviders area). If you have a cube with the Project, then you dont need the previous step.
In BEx, create a V1 formula variable for plan-beg-date: replacement path, char = Project, Replace var with = Attribute value, Attribute = plan-beg-date, check To value.
Similarly, create V2 formula variable for plan-end-date.
Create in columns a new structure. If you work with Project infoobjects as infoprovider, put into structure Number of records KF, otherwise the following steps might not work. Add into the structure a new formula = V1, new formula = V2, new formula = V2 - V1. It will give you the the planned duration of the project.
Now, create X1 & X2, two customer exit variables on 0CALDAY. Based on either user entered reporting day or on current sys-day they should return the first and last days of the reporting/current month.
In the structure create another formula for corrected beginning date:
DATE ( ( 'V1' < 'X1' ) * 'X1' + ( 'X1' < 'V1' ) * 'V1' )
and a formula for corrected ending date:
DATE ( ( 'V2' > 'X2' ) * 'X2' + ( 'X2' > 'V2' ) * 'V2' )
Now you can calculate planned days for the reporting month or even the total number of project plan days.
About macro you execute a query, embed it into a workbook, write a macro and save the workbook. Next time youll open the workbook in Analyzer.

Hi Aadil,
Use Table RSREQICODS.
In TABNAME: put your Cube or ODS name or Infoobject(as Infoprovider) and you will get all the request loaded.
And RNSIDLAST while give you the request id.
You can make a count of that simple ABAP code.
Select count( RNSIDLAST ) from RSREQICODS where TABNAME = 'your infoprovider'.

I have a data source - 0BPARTNER_ATTR.( below fields are in the data source)
In that I have fields like
Category
Role
Type
Title
First Name
Last Name
My requirement is , I want to extract only the above fields in to BI system and I want to take 0BPARTNER- Info object and I want to change as Infoprovider and load data.
Pls guide me how to go proceed further.
Below are the requirement fields which I got from client.
Category      is               Numeric
Role      is     Alpha Numeric
Type      is     Alpha Numeric
Title     is     Alpha Numeric u2013 length should be 15.
First Name is     Alpha Numeric u2013 length should be 15.
Last Name      is           Alpha Numeric u2013 length should be 15.

Activate datasource 0BPARTNER_ATTR in R/3 on RSA5 transaction then install 0bpartner infoobject and transfer rules from business content and Map the listed fields and unmap the remaining fields and activate the TR.
To change infoobject as infoprovider,goto change mode on 0bpartner then on Masterdata/text tab you can see the option 'Char is infoprovider.Enable the radio button.

First create a infoobject as infoprovider, on which you want to create reports. Then also create cube for transction data. Then Create a multiprovider and include both master data and cube. Try to create a report on multiprovider based on requirement.

Is your Source and target got same technical Name? If it got same technical Name it will propose automatically.
I didn't get your exactly. We did loaded data to 0PLANT using 0PLANT_ATTR and Transformations. but as of now the only issue i can observe is It is taking all the Infoobjects with Transformations as Infoprovider . My Experience with Transformation on Infoobjects is, we need to assign the Infoarea in Infoobject maintenance. That makes you this infoobject as Infoprovider.
Even we can handle Duplicate records more efficiently with DTP i suppose.

Hierarchy leaf not shown while data exists

Hi experts,
We have the following issue regarding the (in)visibility of hierarchy leafs:
We know that transactional data exists for a particular item in the hierarchy (total value is zero). This item is not shown by default in the report output (while zero suppression has been turned off). There are a few ways to make the item visible, e.g:
     1. Deactivate the hierarchical display
     2. Filter on the item
     3. Filter on another characteristic value for which the transaction data doesn't add up to zero.
     4. .........
However, we would like to show the item in any case, so even when the underlying transactional data sums up to zero.
Has anyone faced a similar problem before? Any idea how to solve the issue?
If necessary, I can send some screenshots with detailed information by email.

Hi,
We had a similiar issue in the Cost Element Hierarchy & got resolution.
I followed the below method an extract from SDN Forum reply.
You need to make the InfoObject an InfoProvider. Then you create a multiprovider with your InfoCube and the InfoObject. When you create a query, insert a new column that contains the key figure 0ROWCOUNT and a restriction on 0INFOPROV to your InfoObject.
When you right click on 0INFOPROV you now have the option to select Constant Selection. When you've turned it on you do a right click again and you're able to activate "Display non-posted values."
Finally hide the new column and execute the query.
Also we found out that for the nodes that were not appearing , the master data was incomplete. there was no source system assignment to those, we updated the field manually & with the above method the query worked.
