Infopackage -- Process Chain

Hello Experts,
Could you please suggest any method to trigger Process Chain PC1 after Infopakcage IPK1 finishes. Some other job actually triggers IPK1.

But actually its some external job (ETL which runs the infopackage ). I am wondering, how to carry out the rest of the loading process from there. I have a Process Chain to be run once the Infopackage IPK1 is sucessfully finished.

I wish to create & maintain infopackage, process chains, BI hierachies BI production server.
If the production server is not open for changes then how do i maintain these changes in production.

Dear Deepak,
In many Comp's Transports will be happening in a weekly basis or monthly basis, then if you want to use the objects urgently:
In production system you can create and maintain Infopackges, no issues.
Also you can create Manual hierarchies for any InfoObject.
For process chains best thing to do is go to RSPC go to unassigned chains you can find either process chains which are created and not being used or Test process chains, which can be edited.
Remove the processes from unused or waste chains and add Ur DTPs etc., so that Ur chain can be created. Assign that chain to Ur component in RSPC.
And the other option is you can create new chain in Prod system itself if you have developer access.
If you can Transport Ur objects on daily basis period then create a new chain in Dev, Test in QA and ransport it PRD.

I think that if you expand the transport/import log further there will be a more detailed error message. Can you
check this? If yes can you let us know what the error message text and error code is? It might be the case that
the note 659160 is relevant for the problem.

Urgent Issue - Copy DTP and Process Chains in New Client Instance

We have created new client Instance ( CLNT 510 ) based on our present client ( CLNT 500 ).
We have all the process changes, application components from source system CLNT 500 and data ( both for master and transaction data ) in place for the CLNT 500.
Now we need to use the CLNT 510 for our futher development. RFC connection has been established.
Just want to know, do we need to create all the Application component trasfer , Transformation, DTP , Infopackages , Process chains again for the CLNT 510 data.
please help.

We have company implementing mutiple SAP Implementations in different countries.
Client for BW Dev is 400.
Source system for Client BWD :
ECC Client ERP Dev - 500 ( for Holland Implementation )
ECC Client EPR Dev - 510 ( for German Implementation - Instance of ECC 500)
We are completed with the Client 500 implementation.
We are starting the german implementation and they have created a intance of Holland ECC Dev client 500 for german implementation with german data.
Now they have setup 2 rfc connection in BWD 400.
Also finally when they move to QAS client they are going to integrate the data of the both countries into one client.
Presenlty I need to use ECC client 510 client for our german development.
We have around 40 SAP BI reports in our first implementation. and around 10 in our second implementation.
Just want to know, what are issues to be considered in loading master data ( will it overwrite the master data from the client 500, if i extract the master data from client 510 )...and all the other issues like can I copy all the process chains...etc from client ECC 500 to ECC 510, without creating all transformation, DTP , Infopackages to load all the master from client 510 again.
I need a broad understand on how to go about the development ...starting with Application Components transfer from source system Client 510 ....to report development. ( if possible using the already created objects....infopackages , DTP etc..)

Process chain and Infopackage?

Hi,
I am creating the process chain in that I am completely delting the data contents from the Cube and then I am loading data(this is our requirment).There is an error
A type "Complete Deletion of Data Target Contents" process cannot follow process "Execute InfoPackage" var.ZPAK_11VS7H4SRVUOPFQDDJO9V7SSG in the chain
Please help me to resolve this.

Hi Vasu
It seems that BW doesn't want to have an Infopackage and then a Deletion, it may consider that you can't do it even if the loading is not the same.
You should add another step between, like Indexes for your infocube ...

Infopackage and process chain status

Hello expert,
I am new in BW technology and I need some help...
Well I have created a process chain in order to load data into infoprovider. This process chain is running everyday in production system, (it's a tipical PC: delete PSA request, run infopackage, run DTP....)
I have checked the last status of the process chain and it's yellow since two days ago... It was due a communication error between ERP and BW system, therefore (for some reason), the infopackages started but never ended (always yellow status).
So, my questions are:
1.- Is there any configuration for the infopackage to prevent yellow status (for more than X time)?
2.- Could we control it in a process chain?

Hi,
We can configure for infopackage incase of no records found however you can setup for time linmit.
You can set the status the request is to receive per InfoPackage in the Scheduler, via Scheduler Warning Handling. This setting overrides the system-wide setting.

Infopackage in process chain taking long time to run

HI Experts,
One of the element (Infopackage) in process chain(Daily process chain) is taking much longer time(6 hr and still runing) as generally it takes 15-20 mins to complete and the status is in yellow and still running in process monitor without giving any clear picture of error. Manually we are making the staus red and we are updating from PSA and this time it is getting completed in time as specified.
Flow from PSA to datatarget(DSO) in series
For last one week we are facing same issue and i would like to mention that we don't have access to SM37,SM12 to look the logs
and any locks.
without this i need to investigate what is the root cause for the same.

Logical system Infopackage in process chain

Dear All,
I want to schedule a logical system delta infopackage in process chain I have input this package in chain but while activating it gives error "InfoPackage ZPAK_44MTIRL52E5IJXMQVL1BXFCWI is generated; NOT able to be used as loading variant" can any body help me how to resolve this issue.

Hi,
I think this package is created automatically while selecting update data into data targets from the context menu of the ods. This kind of packages cannot be used in chains. Goto rsa1->infosources. Select your 8<odsname> infosource and create a delta package manually. Put that package into the chain. That should work.

Process InfoPackage based on a condition in Process Chain

then you need a decision step...
as you want to use a FM to get the outcome, you can't use the standard decision step as you can only use a formula...
so you need to implement a new decision step...look on sdn for the how to paper 'Enhanced Decision Process Type for BW Process Chains'...
this how to paper will lead you to create a process step of the type decision but you can use abap forms (take a look at it and it will become clear)...once you have done this, drag/drop the step in your chain. within the variant, you can define the result of the if, elseif, else...you can add as much elseif as you want (a lot in any case)...you need to create for every 'if' the form using the FM... back in the process chain you can link this step to all the infopackages, and indicate the result of the decision step leading to the infopackage execution...
that's the nice way...
the easy way :
create for every infopackage a single process chain (you can easily copy them)...they should start after event EV_A, EV_B, and so on...every chain after another event...now create an abap program and call the function module...now depending on the outcome of your FM you can trigger one of the events and the corresponding chain will start, leading to the correct infopackage being loaded.

Infopackage red in process chain but green in monitor

With our system (BW30B, patch14, W2K, Oracle 9.2.0.5) we are having some issues with some infopackages which are included in a process chain.
In the process chain, the status is red with the following error messages: "Processing in Warehouse timed out; processing steps mising", "<DS:DE.RSCALLER>Caller is still missing." but the data was loaded properly --> if I open the monitor status for that infopackage, the status is green (and I confirm that data was properly loaded).
But, this is a problem as it screws up the process chain. I did not find a fix after seaching OSS notes, but the note #766712 seems close to our issue - I tried to apply it but it did not work. In the note, it's recommended to turn on a higher enqueue time --> could you please help me on how to do it? I checked everywhere and did not find the menu option to do it.

I do not think it is related to this setting (it's now set to 30000, which is 3H) - the data properly ended loading before.
When I change the status manually in the monitor, it is reflected in the process chain - but this happens every night, so I have to turn them green manualy every morning ...
The note is 766721 (and not 766712)

Infopackage loads 0 record in process chain as BG job not running correctly

Hi Experts,
I have scheduled a daily process chain for Purchasing.
The infopackage in the process chain loads 0 records from R/3 and shows green status but data is available in R/3. Its a FULL update.
But when I load the data manually the infopackage fetchs the record form R/3.
When I checked the background job in R/3 that loaded 0 records, the job gets finished abruptly without fetchig any data.
Please find the job log below:

Hi Prasanth,
If the background jobs are not availbale when IP is triggered then the BG job will ot be executed and the IDOCs will get struck.
Once we push the IDOc only the BG job will be executed until then the PC will wait with yellow status.
Hence this is not the issue with the non availability of BG WP.
Also for last one week this issue was happening but today the job executed successfully through the Process chain itself.
Then it shows this is not the issue with PC also.
The job is executed using RFCUSR.
Please suggest what would be the possible cause for this issue.

what could be the reason and how to make the process chain run successfully after it gets triggered.
i have deleted all the released jobs for all the processes in the process chain and triggered manually that chain but it is of no use. still the same problem is persisting, is there anything on BW part that we could or is it Basis work that needs to be done for the solution of this type of problem.

Process chain stops in infopackage with yellow status

Hi Gurus,
We are experiencing some difficulties regarding the use of process chains with warnings. Our SAP BI system is connected to an ETL server which feeds us with data from other systems. We have a query that has a push-button functionality that starts a process chain beginning with data extraction with an infopackage and ending in a infocube. The problem we have nowadays is that whenever the ETL workflow fails the infopackage status remains yellow, while our objective would be a red status. To try and solve this problem we forced a timeout in the infopackage. Once we check the log in the process chain it displays a message containing something like "status request modified , do you wish to add subsequent processes?", if we say yes it refreshes the status of the infopackage to red and it all goes ok. What we want is to get rid of this warning and that the status is automatically changed. We've checked other posts and we didn't reach any conclusion... Note 708480 gives us a possibility of automatic desicion but how could we integrate it in our process chains since it is based on shcedulling and not triggers?

Hi,
We have two connected links in the process, one to continue the process chain when process status is green and other link to red status. The problem is the process status remains yellow until our confirmation in pop-up.
The process chain should be started by user in web browser. So, it isn't possible run it in background.

Failure of infopackage step in process chain - Error in source system.

Hello Experts,
We are experiencing this during the execution of process chain.
All the step for data loads within BW(DSO to DSO, DSO to cube) are failing with error -
- Error in source system
- Error during data selection
Please note that we are 3.5 data flow and thus, data load within BW is through emulated data source and the infopackage. Steps running such infopackages for emulated data source are failing in process chain with error above.
Surprisingly, when I run the infopackage manually out of process chain it runs successful without any error. But when I run through process chain it fails.
Any clue or suggestion? We have already tried doing re-initialization for infopackage.

Hi,
When we run data loads thru process chain it will run in background. as per the available background application servers your request will be processed.
as my your during your load time server will be on high load.
please check your system busy schedule and schedule your process chains.
Check Tx - SM50, if you have less application servers, then ask basis to create few more to application servers to process the request at busiest time.
check about increasing parallel processing and default data transfer settings.
go to info package---> menu scheduler--> data settings for default data transfer.
