Infopackages and IPG--- Scheduling Options

Hi, BI Experts
Suppose there is a infopackage with a specified after event in its scheduling options and may be with some subsequent process.
And this infopackage is also scheduled through IPG (or Process Chain) -
immediate start at particular time i.e. it should start at particular time.
Then What will happen in IPG (or Process Chain) when scheduled time comes.
Will it wait for the after event present in scheduling options of infopackage or it will directly start the infopackage as on time of IPG (or Process Chain) .
Please explain in detail and also explain concepts may b related to this.

Hi Arun,
Settings in Process chain takes effects. Process chain settings overwrites infopackage settings.
P.S : Its advisable to use different infopackages.
Hope it Helps

  • Stop infopackage from background scheduling

    Hi experts,
How to stop a delta infopackage from Background scheduling in info package options. I want to stop background scheduling
and keep this infopackage in a process chain.I clicked on Start Data load immediately and saved. But when i again opened the infopackage by default it is on Background scheduling and is asking for cancel job after X runs. How to avoid this ?
    Bhadri M.

You can kill the Job through SM37. IP if directly scheduled, the name would be BI_BTCH*. If you go tour Schedule Tab for your infopackage you can find the name of the Job.
In SM37, just select the job and delete it.
Please don't delete the job if its already Active. Delete it if its in the Released or Scheduled status.
Then you can simply include your IP in you Process Chain and schedule the Process Chain to run daily.

  • Infopackage and process chain status

    Hello expert,
I am new in BW technology and I need some help...
Well I have created a process chain in order to load data into infoprovider. This process chain is running everyday in production system, (it's a tipical PC: delete PSA request, run infopackage, run DTP....)
I have checked the last status of the process chain and it's yellow since two days ago... It was due a communication error between ERP and BW system, therefore (for some reason), the infopackages started but never ended (always yellow status).
    So, my questions are:
1.- Is there any configuration for the infopackage to prevent yellow status (for more than X time)?
2.- Could we control it in a process chain?
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi,
We can configure for infopackage incase of no records found however you can setup for time linmit.
You can set the status the request is to receive per InfoPackage in the Scheduler, via Scheduler   Warning Handling. This setting overrides the system-wide setting.

  • BAPI to create and update scheduling agreement (type LZM) in ECC

    Hi,
We have a requirement to create and update scheduling agreement of type LZM in ECC from an external system.
Is there a BAPI available for this in ECC 6.0 which can be used?
    The integration is using PI.

    Hello,
Please use the T-code "SE93" and then click on Display option after entering the T-code. After entering into the detail screen of the T-code, you shall find option to click on OBJECT LIST and then enter into the Function Group. Now enter the T-code and then click on function module and a list of function module will be displayed in referrence to the T-code.
For your easy reference i have also mentioned the flow.
    SE93 --> Use tcode (eg. VA01) > display> Object list ---> Function Groups --> Tcode ---> Function module.

  • SPM 2.1 Scheduling Option - Daily. How can I control when during the day?

    Hi All,
I understand that when you enable the "scheduling" option in the report, the report runs in the background and this caches the data to table opmdm_precalc_a.
You can set scheduling to daily or weekly runs. The weekly load can be set in the "Application Properties" menu e.g. to Sunday.
If I chose "daily", what time is it run then? The same time as the alert in "Application Properties"?
I've had a quick look at OPM* and RSXA* tables but couldnt see anything obvious as a clue.
    Many thanks for any help
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
Yes, you are right.  The time of execution is the same as the one for alerts.

  • 11g BI Publisher Report - Disable Schedule option

    Hi,
Currently we have moved our BI Publisher catalog objects to the BI catalog and security is controlled through the web catalog for the BI publisher reports also.
As part of it, we have given 'Read' only access to the BI publisher report and the user do not see any 'Edit' option.
But the issue is that he is able to schedule the reports.
Is there a way to disable that 'schedule' option?
    Thanks

from the catalog manager or from analytics url select the folder under which u have bipublisher reports and then click on permissions for the entire folder or for the report and then select custom it will show u list of options like create, delete, run, schedule, view, etc so take out(uncheck) that schedule option thats it

  • Schedule option is grayed out

    Hi,
I am trying to schedule a workbook which has been shared to my username, but the schedule option in File-> Schedule has been grayed out. what are the steps to grant privileges for scheduling a workbook ?
    -Suresh

    Hi,
In order to schedule you need to have the privileges to run schedule.
This can be done using the Discoverer administrator tool,
After log in (doesn't matter the BA you choose to open) go to the menu to tools-> privileges
    or use the shortcut (ctrl+P).
Search for the user name you want to give the privileges to and set the check box for schedule workbooks.
Now try to log in to PLUS or DESKTOP and try to schedule

here the scenerio i have one metachain in that i have 4 local chains .

here when i triggred the metachain its not showing any logs and its not triggreing the localchain1 .
could u please explan the diffrence of scheduling options and suggest me to run the metachain successfully.
    Advance thanks
    Regards
    guttireddy

    Hi Guttireddy,
Direct Scheduling: When you activate the process chain the start process is scheduled in the background, as defined in your selections.
Start using Meta Chain or API:
Using API :You can use the SAP NetWeaver Scheduling Framework to start the chain and to have more extensive scheduling options.
Using Meta Chain :A metachain is a process chain, for which you determine this start condition, that is fixed to another process chain. The process chain is started directly by this metachain. If you start the start process using a metachain, it is not scheduled after you have activated the related process chain. The process chain is only started when the metachain, to which it is linked, is running.
Try the below points for your issue:
    1. Let the settings for your Meta Chain be 'Direct Scheduling' > Change Selections> Choose required Date/Time. You may also Check Periodic Job and set Periodic Values if required.
    2. Now coming to your Local chain 1 > Schedule even this with 'Direct Scheduling' > Change Selections > Check the Immediate start option> Uncheck the Periodic Job Option > Save.
    3. Follow step 2 even for your Local chain 2.
    4. Now schedule your Meta Chain, it should run fine.
    5. You may even set your Meta Chain to run 'Immediate', but you have to trigger it manually everytime.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Sai

  • Scheduling Options under Routing

I would like to know if we can input Resource Offset % and if the system will honour it correctly. As per standard functionality the system automatically calculates both Lead time % and Offset % on selecting Compute Lead.
The Given scenario is to initiate the second operation at 50% completion of the first operation. Suppose if my manufacturing lead time is 3 days with 3 operations, then the system will always schedule the second operation on 2nd day but in practice I want to schedule the same on the very first day.
I understand that with scheduling options like 'Next' or 'Prior', I can start the operations in parallel but that is not what I intend to do.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Try this out:
Try to change the settings of Scheduling options of IP Group by removing already background job in use.You can do this by cilciking on STOP button.
Also Check whether you have authorization to execute Jobs.

  • Incremental and Full backups using WBADMIN and Task Scheduler in Server 2008 R2

I'd like to create an automated rotating schedule of backups using wbadmin and task scheduler, which would backup Bare Metal Recovery; System State; Drive C: and D: to a Network Share in a pattern like this:
Monday - Incremental, overwrite last Monday's
Tuesday - Incremental, overwrite last Tuesday's
Wednesday - Incremental, overwrite last Wednesday's
Thursday - Incremental, overwrite last Thursday's
Friday - Incremental overwrite last Friday's
Saturday - Full, overwrite last Saturday's
I need to use the wbadmin commands within the Task Scheduler and do not know any of the required Syntax to make sure everything goes smoothly, I do not want to do this through the CMD.

I know each backup for the previous corresponding day will be replaced, how do you figure I wont be able to do incremental backups...
Because incremental backup is based on Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) feature and due to Windows Server 2008 R2 limitations (this limitation is resolved in Windows 8) only one version of backed up data can be stored in a shared folder. So the
result is that every time you back up some data on a shared folder, you actually creating a full backup of them.
is it not supported through task scheduler?
The Task Scheduler is only a feature that does the tasks that you have defined for it. Actually it runs the
wbadmin command that runs on an operating system with the mentioned limitation.
I know you can do Incremental backups through Windows Server Backup, but my limitation using that is I cant setup multiple backups.
Yes, you are right. Windows Server Backup feature in Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 has not this functionality (although
ntbackup in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 had this functionality). So, the only workaround to this limitation is through using Task Scheduler feature with wbadmin command. For more information see the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/04/13/customizing-windows-server-backup-schedule.aspx
So are you saying that even though I want each backup to go to a different place on the Shared Folder that it will replace the previous backup anyways?
No and because of this I said in my previous post that with some modifications and additions you can do the scenario. For example, you back up to a shared folder with the name of Shared1 on Mondays. You also have been configured the backup feature to back
up data on another shared folder, named Shared2, on Wednesday. When you repeat the backup operation in Shared1, only the backed up data that resides on it will be affected, and the data on Shared2 remains intact.

    Hi R.Alikhani
Then do you know if wbadmin supports incremental backup in Windows 8? As you said the VSS issue is fixed in Win8. However, the wbadmin has less options then in windows server. I tried a bit but it seems it only supports full backup? ps, I use a network share
    - will the incremental backup works if I define a ISCCI then? My remote backup PC is also running Win8.

  • About infopackage and dtp

    hi guys:
I created two infopackages(a ,b) (different select condition)for one datasource,
also created two dso(A,B) and load data from this datasource by DTP.
how can dso(A) only load data from infopackage(a),and dso(B) only load data from infopackage(b)?
       thks!
    Best regards.

    Hi.........
Datasource in BW side is nothing but PSA............a PSA table cannot store two types of selection simultaneously.............
    The best option is.........
    1) create a full upload Infopackage and load PSA.............
    2) From PSA to DSO A you create one transformation..........and one DTP...........If you want you can put your selection in transformation by creating start routine or end routine...........or in DTP you can use the filter option.......
Again You create another transformation and another DTP for DSO  B............and follow the same method.......
    Hope this helps........

  • Delivery and Shipment Scheduling with CPS

    Dear Experts,
I am tryijng to explore configurable process scheudling in APO to realize a business need of scheduling based on means of transport which in itself is conditional upon a couple of things..one of which is difference between RDD and order date. The purpose is to schedule "fast" or "slow" depending on certain criteria like order priority.. rather than having to live with a static TRANSIT times. Transit times itself can be highly variable talking of ocean shipments with transhipments etc being common and thats where the emphasis lies. I am not talking here of what if product is not available etc at this point (ATP) I am only interested in determining the material availability date and hence the ability to derive a more realistic unloading date given that I have some extenal feed of transit times.expected and actual (post facto)
    Quesiton:
    - Does this sound possible with configurable process scheduling
    - If so... pointers would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Loknath

The condition table technique within CPS is almost exactly similar to the basic condition technique for transportation and shipment scheduling within GATP.
The only difference is that CPS is a lot more flexible - Instead of fixed activities for PICK/TRAN/etc, you can add more activities (HOLD/etc). In addition to duration determination, CPS can also do calendar determination/ time zone determination/ location determination using the condition technique.
So in either case, you still have the same limitations of condition tables - you cant have 'nested' logic and nor can the system pick the 'best' option.
TP/VS offers dynamic route determination. I believe this is still within the GATP check, but I could be wrong. See if it meets your requirement.

  • Things to do while scheduling option in Excelcius

    Hi
We are going to use schedule option with Live Office connectivity
    ,through Webi Reports.
Now I want to know what things need to be done.
First thing is that in Data Manager Connections  Usage Tab
do we have to tick Refresh before Components are Loaded.
and in Live Office connections of all the webi reports
i.e In Live Office Object Properties under Refresh Tab do we have to change the refresh setting from ON Demand to
Use report Saved Data  from Saved Data report.
Do I have to tick both these options or any one of them
    Regards
    Gaurav Mang

    Hi Santosh,
Sorry for late reply,I have not seen this forum.
We are using latest instance i.e scheduling in webi  and dashboard using latest instance of that webi report.
so under usage tab we are selecting option of Refresh before components are loaded.

  • Difference between finite and infinite scheduling

    Dear Frndz,
Pls tell me how the system will behave if I don't select the finite scheduling option for the work center.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srini

    Finite Scheduling
Scheduling type within capacity planning that takes account of the capacity loads which already exist.  Finite scheduling calculates the start and finish dates for operations in the order.  It is a detailed scheduling strategy with which you schedule orders and operations, taking into account the existing resource load. A resource overload cannot occur.
    Infinite Scheduling
A detailed scheduling strategy with which you schedule orders and operations, without taking into account the existing resource load. It is therefore possible for resource overloads to occur.
R/3 does planning without consideration for capacity situations. So if MRP says you need 500 parts on 3/1/04, it schedules them all to be built at the same time, even though you can only do 100 at a time. Assume you have a fixed lot size of 100, you'll get 5 planned orders for 100 to start on the same day. This is "Infinite Planning". APO would recognize that constraint, and instead schedule out the 5 orders over time. The important part of that is that it also will schedule out the deliveries of the components for 5 different days. This is "Finite Planning".
Now, assume old fashion MRP. It schedules all 5 orders for the same day, and the buyers go out an get all of the components for the same day. Then the planner realizes he can't do all 5, and manually changes the schedule, and manually spreads out the 5 orders. The buyers will recieve rescheduling notifications, but not until the scheduler does the manual rescheduling.
You could call this "Infinite Scheduling", but that only means the same thing as Infinite Planning.
But, SAP has "Capacity Leveling". What that means is you run another program after MRP (CM27 and CM28), which can be run in batch mode overnight. (There is a ton of configuration and thinking that will be required to do this!). The capacity leveling program will recognize the constrant at the work center level, and fill up the first day, then re-schedule the next
order to the next available capacity, then the next order searches for available capacity, and so on. This is called "Finite Scheduling". The problem with this is the opposite of Infinite Planning, which is it doesn't take Material availablity into consideration! The system will re-schedule a production order without thinking about whether the materials will be available
    or not.
Finite Planning does Finite Scheduling at the same time. If there is no capacity available on the desired date, the system looks for when capacity IS available. Then it stops to see if Materials will also be available (usually based on the lead-time for those components). If there is a material problem, then the system figures out when the materials WILL be available, and then
checks to see if capacity is available on THAT day, and if so, it blocks off capacity, and allocates the materials for that day
Hope clear to you, other wise pls come back
