InfoPath form won't open in browser

I've been searching for hours for a solution but I can't get it right..
I've a form library with InfoPath 2010 forms. The forms are browser enabled. Library settings -> display form as webpage.
But when users click on the form, Internet Explorer asks them to open or save the file. He wants to open the form in InfoPath, but I want it to show in the browser!
When I investigate the link, I found this: OpenIn=PreferClient
How can I force to open the forms in the browser?

Sorry, I missed that sentence somehow. :)
In form options of the Form Template XSN itself, under Compatibility make sure Web Browser Form is selected as Form Type.
Aside from that puzzling. If no other option can be found, script to change the property in the link would be a hack option.
I checked a form library I have here and there is no OpenIn property at all.
Can I just confirm you're opening pre-filled forms not creating new ones with this link?

  • Infopath form won't open from a URL, opens fine from form library.

I have built a request process using SharePoint 2007 and InfoPath 2010 and a custom workflow designed in SPD.
Everything works perfectly fine within the form library. However, I would prefer not to have my requestors go to the form library so I created a link to the form template.
The issue is that when i try the URL to the form template, the form opens but throws an error that it cannot retrieve data for the form. This process is and will only be used internally, so
I am having trouble understanding why this is happening.
Error message (company names substituted in URL).
    Form template URL:
    http://security.home.mycompany.com/teams/activedirectory/PSAR/PSARRequests/Forms/template.xsn
    Error returned when opening form.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: Access Requestors (An SP List of users)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: RetrieveIDs (A query to retrieve list item ID)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: Workflow History (A query to retrieve workflow data)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
From what i have seen in the past, i would have expected a security pop up before the form opened. I am thinking this may be part of the problem.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

This filler or the client, I don't think it makes much difference. What is puzzling me and is the root of my initial question: Everything works perfectly fine if the user (requestor) goes
to the SharePoint site opens the form library and click on the "New" button. The form opens in the InfoPath client and loads the data connections without issue. The entire process works fine from here and there is no issue.
This issue is, if I send any of the users a direct link to the form template, it opens in the (InfoPath) client as it is supposed to, but will not load the data connection. I get the error
messages stated in my original question stated above. Additionally, I have the option selected to store the data in the form. Once I suppress the error message, the data is not in the form template. There is no problem opening the form, just loading the data
    connection.
I would like to find a solution to this although it is not tragic if I don't. I would rather not have the users (requestors) going directly to the form library if I can help it. It seems strange
to me that this doesn't work because all the users are in the same environment as the SharePoint site. It is only used internally by authenticated users.

  • Form won't open - error message

One of my forms won't open saying its either a momentary problem with Acrobat or a connetion error on my end. I am able to open other forms and I am connected to the internet.  I have people who need to use this form asap in another location and they aren't able to open the link either.  Can anyone provide a clue to the issue?
    Thanks.

It's been down since at least 6:30am Pacific, which means Adobe has now wasted an entire workday for many of us that rely on their system. So, since you don't even have "a good handle on the situation" on this, I guess I can just scratch this day and go home early. Guess that planned Monday launch of the 3 last forms for an event I'm running in June gets a nice April "Rain Delay." Worst part about this too is it's not just today that's a loss, I can't even process any form data submitted over the weekend, so I'm effectively 3 days behind now. Luckily, my event is still 6 weeks away (though the dealines for submitting registrations and such are a month or less)... I feel really bad for people that are on end of April or May 1st deadlines - good luck to you guys.
Really Adobe, if you want us to work on line / in the cloud and rely on you to keep our customer's data and be able to access it when WE need it, this is a huge failure on your part. This isn't some 15 or 30 minute hiccup, this is effectively a full wasted day for everyone on the East/Central time zones. A group is running a sister event to mine next year, and has requested info on how we have done what we have - unfortunately for Adobe, I can NOT in good faith recommend they use this unreliable service. This is not the first time forms (or CC) has failed me in the last 6 months, but it HAS been the worst occurance in the last 6 months. "Happy" to hear that you understand how inconvenient this is, but that and a dollar get's me a cup of coffee. I need my customers to be able to submit their data to get MY money and run my event, and I expect many are in the same situation - what's your solution to that loss?

  • Unable to open InfoPath forms with large attachments in browser

We have been running a infopath solution on SharePoint 2010 for a couple of years now. The form is rendered in the browser, but when the attachments are large in size (seems like a ~10MB limit for the form), the system would not allow the user to edit the
form in the browser. Instead the browser pops up with a dialog say: "What to you want to do with [FILENAME].xml? Open | Save | Save as.
Forms less than 10MB renders perfectly in the browser
Are anyone able to clarify what is going on and how we can fix it?

    Hi Allen,
According to your description, my understanding is that you could not edit the form when the attachment was more than 10MB in SharePoint 2010.
Please go to Central Administration > General Application Settings > Configure InfoPath Forms Services ,  in the user session section, increase the "Maximum size of user session data" to the size that you want, compare the result.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.
This article lists scanning and cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

  • Some pdf files won't open in browser while others do - how to fix that?

    Hello,
just switched from Opera to Firefox and - with the help of some add-ons - feel pretty satisfied already.
One annoying problem though: While many pdf-files will open properly with PDF-XChange Viewer plugin within the browser, there are many websites with links to pdf files where the setting "Use PDF-XChange Viewer (within Firefox)" prompts Firefox to download the file instead.
    Examples:
    http://www.visitbritainshop.com/nordics/travel-transport/london-transport.html
The map of London Transport (link in the middle of the site) will open within the browser
    http://search.knightfrank.co.uk/ngh140118
The floorplan or the brochure won't open within the browser but be downloaded instead
I've never experienced this (in Opera) before.
What could be the reason for that? And is there a way to change it?
    Thanks in advance!

While trying to find a solution for that issue, I stumbled across a post that describes a similar problem with jpegs:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/979919
One reply suggests: "Are you sure that these images are send with a proper MIME type for images and not with a generic MIME type that makes Firefox show the "Open with" dialog? "
The suggested solution, an extension called Open-in-Browser https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-in-browser/
works fine regarding the pdfs in question, and is acceptable for me, although I agree with the poster from above, that " it is a bug that should be fixed instead of relying on an extension".

  • QUB (query builder) won't open in  browser

Recently, QUB won't open in my browser. When I click on edit or new query, I am switched over to FIrefox (or my computer will open FIrefox if it is not running) but QUB won't load at all. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

You may have used the 32-bit IE edition previously.
On Windows 7, if opened from the Task Bar, it will open 32-bit.  From the Start Menu it will open 64-bit.
Open Help | About Internet Explorer to see if you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit edition.

  • When clicked on an icon in the infopath form, it will open another infopath form from another file. How do?

When clicked on an icon in the infopath 2013 form, it will open another infopath 2013 form from another
    file. How do?

    Hello Eugene Astafiev!
    I need the following scenario:
I have a Sharepoint library with items created by Infopath (form A).
I developed another form (form B) that will query items created by form A.
The form B will be in a static "webpart" page navigation (Sharepoint). One of these fields returned by the query library that manages the items created is the URL responsible to load the item data . I would like to parameterize the URL into form B.
So that when the user clicks on it, the form A with their respective data in a modal is returned (which may be a native modal Sharepoint)

  • InfoPath form cannot be opened on Windows 8.1, Office 2013 32-bit

We develop an InfoPath form using InfoPath 2013 on Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2013 64-bit.  The most common user environment is Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2010 32-bit, and the form runs just fine there.
Some of our users are upgrading to Windows 8.1 and cannot run the form.  They are using Office 2013 32-bit as that is our corporate standard.  The form opens correctly using Office 64-bit.
We cannot even open the form in InfoPath Designer when running Office 2013 32-bit, getting the message:
Not enough storage is available to process this command
If we make a small form, it can be opened, but our full production form fails.
Is there a resource we are short on?  Has our form gotten too big to be run on Office 32-bit?  We have spent a good deal of time trying to find an answer, but have had no luck.
    Paul

We understand there’s an error “Not enough storage
is available to process this command” when you try to open a list in InfoPath 2013. After some research, I found some users ran into similar issues, and
finally resolved them by clearing the temporary file folders, changing the disk usage space, or increasing the value of a registry entry. Here I offer these threads, and if it’s convenient, you can take a look at them and check if they could offer something

  • PDF documents won't open in browser page

I've been having trouble with Safari lately. This is my main browser, and whenever I try to open any PDF documents, I get an error message that goes something like "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." Whenever I have to see a PDF document, I have to open another browser (IE 9) and paste the URL in order to view the document. I...think that this error has been showing up ever since I updated Adobe Reader... =/
Is there any way that I can fix this?
    * Currently have Safari 5.0.2

think that this error has been showing up ever since I updated Adobe Reader
By way of experiment, if you uninstall and reinstall your Adobe Reader, does Safari still display the same behavior?
(Wondering here if your nppdf32.dll, which controls the Adobe PDF plugin, might be slightly damaged. I think the relevant copy of the file that Safari uses lives in the Reader files. If so, a reinstall of Reader may help.)

  • InfoPath 2013 form will not open in browser

    Greetings All,
I have a scenario where I have created a InfoPath 2013 form and it will not open in the browser; it always opens it in the rich InfoPath client.
The only thing I have done differently here is to apply a content type, from the content type hub, to the form library.  I am doing this because I was to reference the same content type in a records center; which would allow me to easily move instances
of the form data file to a records library.
When I exclude the whole custom content type thing, the form publishes and can be opened in the browser without issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance...

Hi Bob, at the risk of sounding too obvious, do you have your library set to open documents in the browser, and in the InfoPath settings?
    cameron rautmann
    Hi Cameron,
Yes, it is.  What I have been able to determine is; there is something special about the Form content type.  If I create my own content type, derived from From, it won't work.  Very weird.

  • Pdf web forms no longer open within browser but are instead downloaded as PDFs. I can't do my job, how do I get web forms to work again??

I need to know why pdf web forms are no longer opening within a browser page where they can be filled out and submitted to the website in question. This is a huge part of my job and now I can't do my work in this browser.

"Where do I find my hundreds of dollars of downloads I have done since 2005?"
They will only be where you put them  If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country.  You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

  • After iTunes update, email won't send, only receive. Email setup form won't open all the way.

What can I do to get the add email form to open all the way. It won't scroll down enough to let me enter outgoing mail server information. When I forced it by hitting the enter button and blindly fill in each box, it seemed to work; but when I checked my email, I found that I could receive mail but mail wouldn't send. It kept telling me I have the wrong user name or password, and of course I don't. This only started after the latest iTunes upgrade.
The other problem is that I need to set it up as a pop account and the only way I can get that option instead of iMap is to fool it by typing in one wrong letter on my email which I correct when the page comes up giving me both iMap and Pop options.
Anyone else having this scroll problem. It's only on my iPad 2 and no on my iPhone of iPod touch

Hi, please troubleshoot this from running Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We also suggest you perform a clean boot to troubleshoot this issue:

  • PDF won't open in browser window - think it's Adobe, not FF

Hello!  I have Windows 7, 64 bit, Firefox 20.0.1 and Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421, both with the same problem.  I have Adobe Reader 11.0.2.  Earlier today I was able to open PDFs in the browser tab, this evening not so much.  I am not sure what changed - to my knowledge I didn't get anything updated today.  I have checked all my settings and can't figure out what's wrong.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program.  The only thing I couldn't find after extensive Googling of the issue is that my Adobe Reader lacks the button that is referenced in a lot of posts for "display PDF in browser" is missing.  I've included a screenshot.
In addition, in Firefox there used to be an option "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", but now there's just "Use Adobe Reader (default)" or other pdf readers (and I *hate* Firefox's pdf reader).  I haven't gone too deep into IE's options since I don't use it hardly at all.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Linda

  • Reader 10 x, IE 8, Windows XP SP3 - PDF files won't open in browser

We have users that can open a PDF file from our web site in Firefox and Chrome but not with IE8.
Items come up with a blank screen in the browser.
It seems to deal with the pop up blocker - the pages are catergorized as "unknown zone" and thus are blocked.  I haven't been able to figure out how to add that to the allowed sites.  The files are in our domain with /directory name/*.pdf
Users can right click, save and open seperately but not all our users are educated well enough to go through all those steps.
This site gives the parameters of the problem but other than saying display the PDF in another window - ie save and read it outside the browser, it doesn't offer a solution other than that - http://www.bnl.gov/itd/webapps/pdf_help.asp
I have checked the users machines and they have the items under Preferences - Internet - all items checked.
    Thoughts?

Can the files be opened in Preview? If they can, then at least you will know that they are not empty or corrupted.
