Informatica and DAC questions

I understand that ODI is the tool of choice for the Analytics apps, but Informatica was still supported. Informatica is our standard integration tool, so we would like to upgrade ahead of Informatica version retirement.
1) Is Informatica 8.x supported for the Analytics apps? If so, which sub version?
There is a Enhancement request in Metalink that says support will appear in the Tenerife release, but I have been unable to find confirmation.
2) Does anyone have good migration strategies/methodologies for break-fix that invovle DAC changes. Wholesale DAC repository migration is ham-handed at best and recoding DAC elements after a move to a QA or Production is simply wrong.

Latest Version of OFA supporting Informatica and DAC

Dear All,
I was trying to find the latest version of OBI Financial Analytics Applications.
and i came across this link.

after going thru various documents here what i understood is that in the latest release of OBI i.e. 'Oracle Business Intelligence Applications 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7)' Oracle is no more supporting Informatica and DAC configuration but it's replaced by ODI and ODI studio.
Oracle is supporting informatica in N-1 version which is 'Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Version 7.9.6.4'.
I understand if we go with latest version there may not be much help available for installation, configurations and may be known and unknown bugs.
Request experts if you could please confirm this? and what will be the best decision to go with 7.9.6.4 or 11.1.1.7 version??

Migrating Informatica and DAC servers

We are trying to figure out a way to re-configure our current settings on a diffrent unix node. In our current set up Informatica, and DAC are installed on a shared drive accessible by 4 diffrent unix nodes. Informatica server, DAC server and a network interface that point to VIP used by informatica all runs on one unix (let us call it node1) server. What we are trying to do is to document the steps to migrate this setup to another unix server(let us call it node2) to cover ourselves in case of a hardware failure or for a server move. With this background, let me explain what we have done so far.
1/ We were able to successfully bring up DAC server and Informatica server from node2 with minor changes in configuraton (DAC system properties for DAC server and re-configuring/re-creating the domain for Informatica). This worked fine when the network interface(that points to a VIP used by Informatica) was started from node1
2/ However, this chaged set up did not work when the network interface(that points to a VIP used by Informatica) was started from node2. Informatica server did not come up when we network interface was started from node2.
Question ?
a/ Why the informatica server did not come up when the network interface was started in node2? Where can we find (in config files etc) that it has to be started from node1 only?
b/ What needs to be done to ensure that Informatica will come up correctly when the network interface pointing to VIP that is used by informatica is brought up from node2?

How To Install Informatica and DAC Client on windows

Dear Friends,
I had installed Oracle Informatica 8.6.1 and Oracle DAC Server (10.1.3.4.1) on Linux server (RHEl 32 bit)
Now i want to install Informatica and DAC Clients on windows machine.
Where to download the software and in the existing Dump i don't find any install.bat file / client folder as mentioned in some sites.

Hi,
When you have downloaded the informatica software you will get 2 zip files (V20952-01_1of2.zip,V20952-01_2of2.zip). When you Unzip these two files you will find pc861_client_win32_x86.zip file.
Unzip this pc861_client_win32_x86.zip file and browse to this location pc861_client_win32_x86\Client\Disk1\InstData\VM, here you will find install.exe an executable file.This will install informatica client.
For installing DAC browse to this location DAC 10.1.3.4.1\dac\Disk1\install\win32 and there you will find setup.exe executable file. This will install DAC.

Informatica and Dac installation

i am currently installing OBIEE 11g on linux x86_64.we have got 2 servers say A and B and 1 windows server say C
Now coming to 2nd server B. Here i am not sure what to install first? can you please guide me with the sequence of steps here?

User rights in Informatica and DAC repositories

Hello,
Installation doc is not too clear about the Informatica and DAC repository user rights.
It just mentions the SSE_ROLE for the OBAW and a couple of things for DAC rep user in step 4.4.1.1
Could anyone, pls. share the user rights used for those rep users ?

I have logged an SR with Oracle regarding the user permissions for an EBS system as most people will not want to use the APPS schema. You may see my post above asking what schema people are using.
We are used to just using the APPS schema on the EBS systems, however, some clients will not allow access to this user and so you are required to have a read-only user that has specific grants to execute certain packages.

I have decided for now to create an EBS schema that is read-only with:
GRANT SELECT ANY TABLE TO <EBSUSER>;

OBIEE 11g, Informatica and DAC: Migrating from Oracle DB to SQL Server?

Currently we are implementing OBIEE 11g with Oracle BI Application for EBS (Supply Chain, Procurement & Finance modules). We have incorporated all OUT-OF-THE-BOX mappings and configurations in DAC, Informatica and RPD (no change, only OOTB). We were using Oracle DB and Linux servers.
Now the client wants to migrate this to one Windows box.
Can anyone point out, what are the changes need to done to migrate to SQL Server database. Any existing documentation or link will be helpful.

If you are using SQL Server 2008 then you need to edit the DAC config.bat file replace sqljdbc.jar with sqljdbc4.jar.
Rest of DAC and Informatica configuration is almost similar.
Let us if you come across any issues.

What version of Informatica and DAC to download

Hi All,
I am new to Oracle applications so any help would be highly appreciated.
I have OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.1 installed and installed the BI application 7.6.1 on top of it.After that I need to install Informatica power center server and DAC, please highlight if I am missing something.
I read in previous threads that I can get them from e Delivery.
Can you please guide me as to what version should I download for the same.
Secondly, once I install BI application, I get the Application BI repository but not able to figure out the password.
Tried with Administrator and blank but none of them seems to be working.

Creating a replica of Informatica and DAC..

Hi Experts,
We just have one environment containing DAC and Informatica. ( call it prod)
Now we are planning to create a DEV environment containing exactly the same DAC and Informatica metadata.
I think having the DAC repository and Informatica repository to the new environment would do the trick.
Can anyone guide me as to how to create exactly the same replica of the running DAC and informatica environment?

Hi Ashish,
In addition to Naga's post:
If you need start your ETL processes on DEV enviroment as Incremental, you need to clone Prod DWH.
If your DWH, DAC, Informatica are on the same instance,you can clone whole instance and then replace DAC and Informatica Metadata by Importing repository wizards.
Remember that you need set correct relational connections in Informatica and several changes on DAC Setup (as Informatica Servers , Physical Data Sources,...)
The very important point is the chronological snapshots of OLTP, DAC Metadata, Informatica Metadata and DWH.
1 - DWH, 2 - Informatica, 3 - DAC , 4 - OLTP (for example DWH 1-JAN, Informatica 2-JAN, DAC- 3-JAN, OLTP - 4-JAN).
The reasons is correct corresponding between source, sequences on Informatica Maps and ROW_WID fields of DWH tables.

Cloned Dac, Informatica and OBIEE want to change the ip and hostname

Hi Gurus,
I recently cloned my OBIEE env on virtual machines on OEL ( Linux)
I want to change the hostname and ip address to make the services up with new IP and hostname.
I started the Database(11gR2) single instnace successfully. Please let me know what all changes need to be done to start the dac(10.1.3.4), informatica(9.0.1 Hotfix 2) server and also OBIEE(11.1.1.7.1)
I did run ./startServerprompt.sh for DAC but still the service cannot be started.

Informatica and DAC is also on Linux servers. As a first step I'm trying to start the services on DAC and Informatica servers but still no luck.
When I'm Trying to start it gives me the following error in the log
For Informatica:
Domain service init method is called
java.net.UnlnownHostException: santa.pti.local (which is the wrong hostname)
it should be picking up the new hostname panta.pti.local
but I don't know where exactly is this information stored and how to get over it.
The same case is with DAC server when I try to start it it's picking up the wrong hostname
Anybody who can help me get through this. I have go ogled it but so far I couldn't solve it.
Appreciate if anyone could help me solve this.

ETL and DAC clustering for high availaibility in OBIAPPS installed in AIX

Could you let me know how to configure teh clustering and failover for Informatica and DAC for obiapps 7963 installed in AIX 6.1 . We have license for HACMP cluster.
Any guide to help me out. I coudn't find it in obiapps deplyment guide.

Unlike BI the Informatica and DAC services are based on database. Assuming your database is up and running all the time can you tell me the scenario(s) to bring down these Informatica and DAC services?
If my assumptions are correct you wont have any?
I would suggest to make sure your database is up and running all the time so that Informatica and DAC are up and running.
More over you have to fix manually for any load issues and you wont get benefit from cluster.
Just in case you are going with Cluster then you need to take care of DAC refresh dates.. do you have any plan for the same?
Appreciate if you share about how you end up with this.
If I'm wring correct me, infact I too was waiting for responses for this post :)

There maybe a problem with either system software or hard drive itself.

Performance issue and functional question regarding updates on tables

A person at my site wrote some code to update a custom field on the MARC table that was being copied from the MARA table. Here is what I would have expected to see as the code. Assume that both sets of code have a parameter called p_werks which is the plant in question.

Here's the question - why did this person enqueue and dequeue explicit locks like this ? They claimed it was to prevent issues - what issues ??? Is there something special about updating tables that we don't know about ? We've actually seen it where the system runs out of these ENQUEUE locks.
Before you all go off the deep end and ask why not just do the update, keep in mind that you don't want to update a million + rows and then do a commit either - that locks up the entire table!

The ENQUEUE lock insure that another program called by another user will not update the data at the same time, so preventing database coherence to be lost. In fact, another user on a SAP correct transaction, has read the record and locked it, so when it will be updated your modifications will be lost, also you could override modifications made by another user in another luw.
You cannot use a COMMIT WORK in a SELECT - ENDSELECT, because COMMIT WORK will close each and every opened database cursor, so your first idea would dump after the first update. (so the internal table is mandatory)

and when I connect it to itunes asked me to restore from my old iphone 4

but I have a problem with my account for icloud password and security questions because my cloude id is *************** and with no problem with my apple id "*****************", I tried to restore my new iphone after I turned off find my iphone from icloud setting and when its restore was finished the iphone is locked and asked me to unlock the iphone with a ****************** that I forget the password and security questions and when I tried to enter my account id "**************** with no problem with its password it says to me "this account can't unlock this iphone"
when I visit tradeline (Apple products dealer) I found no answer and they adviced me to contact apple directly.
