Information about   Data Transfer in mySAp retrail

Hello
I have a quetion  I need to learn about Data Transfer  then I have a guide to Initial Data Transfer in mySAP  retrail  version 1.2  Octuber 2001.
So, my question is: Are there another guide most recently about this topic? or  these  guide is fine  for starting.
Thanks  for  your answers
Danny

Hello,
You have posted a question that is related to system transports. Unfortunately this category is not related to these kind of questions. SAP TM deals with logistics in the real world - moving pallets, containers, loading trucks, etc.
To learn more about SAP TM please visit [http://service.sap.com/scm-tm|http://service.sap.com/scm-tm]
Therefore I will now move this thread to the category Software Logistics. Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards,

    Hi,
While you can collect/refresh the DB statistics thru the Performance tab or a Process Chain step, it's probably better to have the DBA schedule the run of BRCONNECT to collect statistics. This provides two key benefits, the statistics collection can be moved to off hours rather than during a load window, which is usually tight in most shops, and the other benefit is that it can collect statistics only on tables that have had significant changes in size. There is really no need to collect stats every day on every table - that is just wasted system effort.
There have been several OS Notes to provide some settings in the recent couple of support packages to control options on statistics collection on ODSs that you might want to review too.
    Pls chk this links;

  • Need detail information about Data Cleanse Transform.

    Hi Every One,
I Need detail information about Data Cleanse Transform.
    1. what is Local Cleansing Packages?
    2. what are Directories and Dictioneries.
    3. Data Cleanse Transform INPUT , OPTIONS, OUTPUT tabs and usage.
    4. Details on Transform Input Field name in Data Cleanse INPUT tab.
    5. What is PARENT_COMPONENT,FILED_NAME,FIELD_CLASS,CONTENT_TYPE in  Data Cleanse OUT POT TAB.
I tried using "EnglishNorthAmericaDataCleanse" transform with NAME_OR_FIRM_LINE1.  When I ran the job I got below warning message and my job was success full nut status it shown as failed.
    Warning message:
"Trasform Data Cleanse is unable to retrieve cleansing packages from Cleansing Package Builder. Only local cleansing packages are available. Info: Unable to log on: Could not connect to server d184932040.sng1.attens.net:6400.  Please check that the server name is  correct, and that the server is running. "
Please make me understand, why did I get above message.
    Thanks in Advance ...

    Hello,
Cleansing package is a reference file that contains content and rules around person, firm, title, phone data and so on.  Cleansing package used to be referred to as dictionaries.  Directories are usually referred to address reference data or address directories.  The input, output and option tabs are similar to other Data Quality transforms.  For detail information on what each of the input fields and output fields are and how the options work can be found in the Data Services’ Designer Guide (http://help.sap.com/bods).
The warning message you are getting is stating that Data Services is not able to connect to the server to check to see if you have made modifications to the PERSON_FIRM cleansing package.  You are not required to make any changes to the PERSON_FIRM cleansing package, but can change rules or content based on your organizational rules.  If you want to make changes you will need to install SAP Information Steward.  If you would like to install SAP Information Steward you can find documentation for installation on the Help Portal, http://help.sap.com/bods, along with some great Videos.
You can also find some great Data Services Product Tutorials on the SAP Community Network, at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-54115.

what are the tables that provide information about the datasource?
How to prevent duplicate records in at the data target level?

  • About data transfer/update rules setup

    Hi All,
After this BW loading project, I am wondering if anyone can confirm with my issues.
--What is the difference between'initail load & full load'? Examples to use them, please.
--If i use V3 to update, can I choose weekly? some expert told me that i can change the setting in OMO1 after first time loading. I tried it and it didn't work. Why???
--If we loaded into ODS and re-loaded to Cube, should I have the same loading schedules(update rules) for ODS and Cube?? (ex: both full load and weekly)?
--The update rule in OMO1 is for transfer datasource to BW and is nothing about ODS and CUBE loading, Am I right?
--Should I have the same keys for ODS and Cube?
--How can system not replicate loading? EX: every month sales order loading.
Thank you for helping me to understanding data loading in BW.

    Hi John,
    Here are the answer
--What is the difference between'initail load & full load'?
Ans:-Initial load means initialization which is one time activity if you do not provide any selection criteria while initialization ( this will take your all data to BW depends on extractor you are using ) once that is successful you need to switch your load to delta when you do this only records which are changed will be fetched.
Full load means al records will be fetched and will be aggregated whether you should go for initialization or full load depends on your data requirement.
--If i use V3 to update, can I choose weekly? some expert told me that i can change the setting in OMO1 after first time loading. I tried it and it didn't work. Why???
Ans :--> I think if you are using Lo then you can change this in LBWE job control . OMO1 is if you are using LIS and you want to switch your update in LIS delta tables then the procedure is to go in LBW0 first deactivate your delta mechanism by putting your infostructure name then go to OMO1 and change your control parameter to schedule your delta mechanism on.
--If we loaded into ODS and re-loaded to Cube, should I have the same loading schedules(update rules) for ODS and Cube?? (ex: both full load and weekly)?
Ans:--> Not compulsory but good to have same schedule I mean as soon as ODS is loaded successfully start the load for cube.
--The update rule in OMO1 is for transfer datasource to BW and is nothing about ODS and CUBE loading, Am I right?
Ans -->yes you are right but let me make some correction
in OMO1  update parameters are for switching of delta tables of LIS .
--Should I have the same keys for ODS and Cube?
Ans--> Not compulsory depends on your business logic.
--How can system not replicate loading? EX: every month sales order loading.
Ans--> question not clear for me.
Hope this will help you .

What is the best way to get this data across ?By being very careful? 8-)
Seriously though, as well as the link from the other poster about
datatypes not being compatible, you should also worry about
SQL not being the same - look at
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/transactsql/thread/804dc08e-927a-4152-af06-a90c0ee63230/
You should also worry about CONSTRAINTS, PL/SQL, Sequences,
    the list is endless.
An Oracle (and SQL Server) database is not just a collection of bits,
but a system - if it wasn't, we'd all store our data in Notepad for free!
Brooks (mythical man-month) says "be prepared to throw one away"!
Another question you should ask yourself is
"What is my own area of expertise?"
    Are you a Perl/Python/Java/Delphi/C/C++/<insert_language_of_choice> programmer?
Look at doing the work in stages using staging tables.
    Best of luck.

    Thank you.--
When asking database related questions, please give other posters
some clues, like OS (with version), version of Oracle being used and DDL.
Other trivia such as CPU + Disk configuration might also be useful.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!"). Thanks.

  • Help about data transfer

    Hi all,
Can any one briefly explain the data migration in oracle apps. How the data is transfer from interface table to base table. Also Why we do not insert data directly into base table.

First look if there is a communication port aboard these scoops (usually GPIB). If not, are they sold as an option. Get/buy the com. board for your computer flatform.
Then try looking for the instrument driver in the language you are using (LabVIEW, ...).
If not available, you should get hold of the manual describing the commands to talk to the scoop and develop your own by creating your own driver.
Finally: Not always is the hardware you have available an optimal solution for automating your T&M application. Only details on your application can clarify this...

  • Basic thing to know about data transfer programs

    Hi Friends
I have one basic question need to be clarified:
I have one file contains 100 records, I have to upload this file to sap.
    My question is :
suppose 80th record is the error record, what will happen if I am doing this using session metod?
suppose 80th record is the error record, what will happen if I am doing this using call transaction metod?
suppose 80th record is the error record, what will happen if I am doing this using session metod but in background mode?
Please clarify me with all possible scenorios.

    Hi:
Qn No: 1) No data will be saved .
    2)            The error record wont be saved. In your case all the records except 80th record will be saved using call transaction ( Foreground) .
    3)  No data will be saved .

    Danny,
How many field from the ORDR or RDR1 have to exported depends on the business logic implemented and what was being used.  No one can really provide a standard set of 5 or 10 fields as you know the clients business better than anyone in the Forum.
If the Client used User fields then data from the user fields should also be exported.
The base fields from ORDR would be CardCode, DocDate, DocDueDate, Transpcode (shipping code), SlpCode, GroupNum (Payment terms code), etc.
Similarly on RDR1, ItemCode, Quantity, Price and any additional row level information that may pertain to their business

  • Data transfer with IDoc

    Hi All,
Can any one please explain me about "Data transfer with IDoc".

    Dear Prasad,
Using the IDoc option , you will not have a staging in BW like PSA were you can do corrections if required,
We can use IDOC option when we are very sure that data we are loading is error free,
and in older versions we are forced to use only IDOC option when doing hierarchy loads and its ruled out now,
    Data transfer with IDoc
The data is packed into IDocs by the source system and sent to the Business Information Warehouse. In BW your data is saved persistently and intransparently in the IDoc store. From there the IDocs can be updated in the IDocs manually or automatically.
It is used for hierarchies load Limitations with IDoc is:
transfer structure must not have more than 1000 Bytes in the character format.
If it is a critical data we can use IDocs it can't be modified here. In case the load fails we need to load data from source system.

  • Data transfer legacy

    dear all
Can eny one tell me about data transfer legacy?
How are modules interagted and what are means of data transfer for intra module.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You would use LSMW to upload master data and either BDC/BAPI for uploading transaction data.
    Visit the following link:
    Re: sap general
Where you would find more information about BDC and LSMW.
For information regarding LSMW steps visit the following link:
    /people/hema.rao/blog/2006/09/14/lsmw--step-by-step
    http://help.sap.com/bp_blv1500/BL_US/html/dataconv_lsmw.htm
The SAP System consists of a number of components that are completely integrated with one another. This integration allows the various departments and units of an enterprise to share and maintain the same information.
Purchasing is a component of Materials Management (MM). The Materials Management (MM) module is fully integrated with the other modules of the SAP System. It supports all the phases of materials management: materials planning and control, purchasing, goods receiving, inventory management, and invoice verification.
The tasks of the MM Purchasing component are as follows:
External procurement of materials and services
Determination of possible sources of supply for a requirement identified by the materials planning and control system or arising directly within a user department
Monitoring of deliveries from and payments to vendors
Good communication between all participants in the procurement process is necessary for Purchasing to function smoothly.
    <b>Integration</b>
Purchasing communicates with other modules in the SAP System to ensure a constant flow of information. For example, it works side by side with the following modules:
        Controlling (CO)
The interface to the cost accounting system (Controlling) can be seen above all in the case of purchase orders for materials intended for direct consumption and for services, since these can be directly assigned to a cost center or a production order.
        Financial Accounting (FI)
Purchasing maintains data on the vendors that are defined in the system jointly with Financial Accounting. Information on each vendor is stored in a vendor master record, which contains both accounting and procurement information. The vendor master record represents the creditor account in financial accounting.
Through PO account assignment, Purchasing can also specify which G/L accounts are to be charged in the financial accounting system.
        Sales and Distribution (SD)
Within the framework of materials planning and control, a requirement that has arisen in the Sales area can be passed on to Purchasing. In addition, when a requisition is created, it can be directly assigned to a sales order.

  • I'm running out of data transfer space?

Anyone help me understand how this fills up, and what it's caused by? I have a QT short movie on my iWebsite, if it matters. Says,
"You are currently using 3.82 GB of 5 GB bimonthly data transfer limit. Find out more about data transfer limits."

Upgrading to the family pack still only gives you 1GB of space, no idea what the data transfer is, but probably still 10GB/month.
    From .mac help:
    Adding storage
If you're a .Mac member, You can increase your combined email and iDisk storage to a total of 2 GB or 4 GB by purchasing more storage.
Note: If you have a trial membership, email-only account, or Family Pack sub-account, you cannot increase your storage amount.
The cost of upgrading your combined email and iDisk storage is determined by the time remaining in your yearly membership and the amount of storage you already have. For example, if you upgrade your storage space six months before your renewal date, you pay only half the yearly fee.
The cost of the additional space is charged to your credit card. Your purchase will renew automatically as part of your account subscription each year. For pricing information, see ".Mac pricing" in the Membership section of .Mac Help.
    To add storage:
    1. Go to www.mac.com and log in.
    2. Click your member name on the .Mac tab, and then confirm your login.
    3. Click Buy More on your Account Settings page.
    4. Choose an upgrade option from the Storage pop-up menu, and then click Continue.
    5. Review your billing information and click Continue.
    6. Review your order and click Buy Now.
    7.
    8. Wait while your order is processed (it only takes a moment). Don't use your browser to view another page until you see your purchase confirmation.
After you see your purchase confirmation, it takes a few minutes before your new storage is available. When you upgrade your storage, the additional storage you purchased is allocated to your personal iDisk. To learn about setting different storage capacities for .Mac Mail and your iDisk, see "Designating storage."
Your best bet is to add storage, as this increases your bandwith as well,
    Upgrade to 2GB of storage = 25GB/month
    Upgrade to 4GB of storage = 250GB/month
Follow the steps above (1-4) and it will show you the price for your part of the world.

  • WDA-Flash Data transfer Frequency

    Hi
I have some WDA program with Flash Island inside.  I share some objects (tables) from WDA to Flash, and Flash make graphics.
So i have in WDA conext the requiered nodes (for each table) wich i fill in WDA and share it to Flash.
My doubt is about Data transfer frequency between WDA and Flash:
If i change a node content, ie. i fill the node again with the new table content, this node is shared automatically with Flash, thats good when i change all records from that node (table).
    1. If i have a NODE_A with 100 records ,  if i only change the content for one specific record , does
all the node content (all 100 records) are transfered to Flash ?   I guess yes.
    2. But if i have NODE_A (100 records) and i have other NODE_B  (150 records) and i change the NODE_A content  ; does NODE_B content are transfered also to Flash even this node has not changes ?
    3. Suppose i have other Node (not table) with attribute to enter Date wich is shared to Flash ,  if i change that Date ,   does the nodes NODE_A and NODE_B  are also transfered to Flash even these have not changes  ?
    4. If i do not make any change to nodes shared with Flash , when i make any event (press match code) or change some node or attribute wich are not shared to Flash   ;  does nodes NODE_A and NODE_B and Node Date are transfered also to Flash ?
I know these are several questions, i need to know about this because if the nodes are transfered alwasy and with all node content transfered,  then i will need to have minimum data in that nodes shared to WDA and even i will need to clear/refresh  (object->invalidate) that nodes when Flash receives the data, this in order to have good performance and server work for the application.
Does somebody can give me some 'light' about this please ?
    Best Regards
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
From my past experience with FlashIslands, what i understood is:
The context data is transferred from WDA to Flash whenever there is a change in any of the context nodes shared with Flash.
And when ever there is an event fired from Flash to WDA.
please find the answers for your questions below:
    1. Yes all the node content will be transferred. Actually not only this node where you have made the change, but also all the nodes data which are shared with Flash will be transferred.
    2. Yes. please see point 1.
    3. Yes
    4. As far as i know, No. As the change is in the content of a node which is not shared with Flash, there wont be any data transfer from WDA to Flash.
    I hope this is clear!
    Best Regards,
    Srilatha

  • Data Transfer HR

    Hi Gurus,
i have a problem about data transfer HR. I have registred hours in HR Time Sheet and approval this hours. There is a way to transfer this data on PP order???
    Thanks
    Nicola

    Hi Nicola,
Unfortunately, as far as I know, time recording in HR is not integrated with PP. First and foremost, there no indication of the PP order when you report attendance in HR, so there's no basis of relating the two.
I think that you need to report execution hours to PP orders only if you need an actual cost collection per order. And if you do this, and HR attendance, you can reconcile the hours on the cost center level, to see that PP report makes sense versus time attendance.
    Regards,
    Mario
