Information about logon name pre-windows 2000

Hi,
In active directory while creating users we have two fields like logon name and logon name (pre-windows 2000). In windows2008R2 server I created new user (Test user) and 1 new group. I mapped new user to the group. While creating user I have given 123456789
for logon name field and user.test for logon name pre-windows 2000.
But with this user while doing LDAP search user is not listing from the server and also getting error as No groups found for the new user. So can you please let me know whether we need to give same name for logon name and logon name pre-windows 2000 fields?
If possible brief me about those fields.
Appreciate your earlier response.
Thanks & Regards,
Sitaramaiah

  • User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) and Domain Name Don't have the same Value

    Hi
is it possible to have User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) and Domain Name with different value?
    Exemple:
    domain name domain1.com
    and User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) Domain2\user

If you have trust in place, then also you can use trusted domain name to login from trustee domain. Also, UPN suffix can be added.

  • ACS External Windows Authentication: Pre-Windows 2000 name only works

Hello. I have attempted to map ACS to Windows AD 2003 as an External Database. That works, but only if I authenticate using the Pre-Windows 2000 name (sometimes called the "down-level" name).
If I use the Windows 2003 login name, I get a 529 error in the event viewer, stating the username/password is incorrect. This error appears on the Windows 2003 SP1 server running ACS.
Curiously, if I authenticate using the down-level name, the successful event shows the same authentication package (MICROSOFT_AUTHENTICATION_PACKAGE_V1_0) and "Workstation" and "Login Process" name (CISCO).
I cannot determine if this is an ACS or Windows problem. Any one have a clue?

  • Different Pre-Windows 2000 domain and FQDC.

I have a SBS 2003 box that was originally migrated from SBS2000. i just finished install new 2012 standard server and installed AD service on it, but when i trying promote to DC, it won't do it until functional level raise to least 2003 level.
    My question is following:
when user login, user uses pre-windows 2000 login name.
For example, DC11\user but FQDC is DC1.local.  we have no DC11 exist.
When user trying login as DC1\user, it won't able to login. even Administrator has to login as DC11\administrator not DC1\administrator.
When i look user properties account login name user @dc1.local and pre-Windows 2000 name DC11\ user are listed.
if i raised to Windows 2003 function level, did user can't login? or any effect?
    Thanks

DC11 is the NetBIOS name of your domain and it can be changed using Active Directory Domain rename tools -
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb405948.aspx - if you don't want to use DC11 in your environment. However, this could have impact other applications like Exchange,
as Exchange doesn't support domain rename.
Another option for you would be to deploy a new Forest or domain with the names that you desire and migrate stuff - Users/Workstations/Servers/Application and get rid of old domain.
UPNs ([email protected]) is easy to change but changing NetBIOS is a complex process and needs to be done with extreme care.

You can look for authorized Apple resellers here:

If you have any doubts about any reseller, I strongly advise that you not purchase from them. Buy your iPhone directly from Apple and you will then have no worries.

  • Error when displaying information about logon to windows 7

    Hi everyone,
Would appreciate your kind assistance in this issue.
Currently, I've tried to set the "display information about previous logons during user logon" however user is unable to log in after gpupdate.
Error message is as follows :
Security policies on this computer are set to display information about the
last interactive logon. Windows could not retrieve this information. Please
contact your network administrator for assistance
    Thank you everyone!

    NB:
For domain user accounts in Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 native, or Windows 2000 mixed functional level domains, if you enable this setting a warning message will appear that Windows could not retrieve the information and
the user will not be able to log on. Therefore you should not enable this policy setting if the domain is not at the Windows Server 2008 domain functional level

  • Getting information about table names & other meta data

    Hi,
I want to know about DatabaseMetaData & how to acess all table names & other metadata using JDBC-ODBC as well as direct drivers
can i get code for converting one type of database file to other.
    Idesperately need this code.
    please............

While most RDBMS implementations are stored as flat files, you cannot normally directly 'convert one type of database file to other'. DatabaseMetaData will give you a list of tables, views, schema, columns, etc. You can then create your own dynamic SQL statement, SELECT the data from the legacy RDBMS and INSERT into the new RDBMS. Otherwise, I'm not sure how you would accomplish a conversion without knowing the internals of the database or special software.

  • ISE with per-windows 2000 domain

    Hi
I am experiencing a problem with AD authentication.
I have joined the ISE appliance to the windows AD and I can browse the groups and attributes.
But the problem I am experincing is that the users logon to the domain using the pre-windows 2000 domain name.
FQDN format : ab.cdef.com       - ISE is joined to this
pre-windows 2000 name : abcd  - Users logon with this
So wen the users authenticate I get the following error : 22056 Subject not found in the applicable identity store.
Also tried to logon with [email protected] with no luck.
    Does someone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

The 802.11 Mac Layer is a bit longer than the ethernet mac layer. This sometimes cause problem with domain login because they are done using UDP by default. The frame are sometime drop. To test if this is your problem, I recomand changing the MTU on the 2000server(DC) and the host to something lesser than the actuel MTU on the interface. (configure the DC and host @1300 leaving the network @1500)
A Windows 2003 server as a default mtu of 13?? something to get around this problem. I usaully tell my users to install the cisco vpn client if they want to use domain in wireless because the installation of this client lower the MTU of every interface to 1300.
Another path you can look into is forcing kerberos to use TCP insted of UDP. (look on MS TechNet for method)

  • Oracle8i on Windows 2000 Server - Oracle Instance don't auto start

I've installed the Oracle 8.1.7 on a Dell Pentium III server running Windows 2000 Server operational system. During the installation the Oracle Instance was started up, but after I reboot the computer, the Oracle Listener service and the Oracle service was started in automatic mode but the Oracle Instance do not started though.
My Oracle DBA teacher ask me to run Oradim and edit the Oracle configuration startup parameters. I did, but it didn't solve the problem. The values on Windows registry of the ORA_<SID>_AUTOSTART key is "true". The Dba Studio also gets information form the Oracle server and all the fields seems to be correct with auto-start option, but it didn't work out.
Can someone point me to any text I can read about installation troubles on Windows 2000 Server ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jayme.

    Hi
I don't have an 8i db to test on but I think it works the same as on 9i.
Check the following parameters in your registry in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0:
    ORA_<YOUR_SID>_AUTOSTART=TRUE
ORA_<YOUR_SID>_PFILE=<full path and file name of your init file>

  • Windows 2000 user account migrate to new Windows 2012 R2 domain

    Hi all
I have a customer using Windows 2000 domain with many user accounts and file share service.
Now they want to use a new Windows 2012 domain without upgrade from old 2000 domain due to some hidden problem.
Customer requested to keep user name, password, uid for existing file share access.
May I know any tools for migrate user account from Windows 2000 domain to Windows 2012 domain?
    thx
    Q K

    Hi,
Can you please confirm your requirement, that is you will be using a new Windows 2012 domain with only the user accounts from Windows 2000 domain.
If the above text matches your requirement, I would suggest you the following steps,
    1. You can use CSVDE - command line tool to export the AD user information as CSV file from  Windows 2000 domain,
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/data-center/simplify-admin-tasks-by-exporting-active-directory-data-with-csvde/
    2. Then, you can import the CSV file with required user attributes (domain details modified according to the target domain) to Windows 2012 domain using PowerShell as
shown in the link given below,
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/bettertogether/archive/2011/01/09/import-bulk-users-to-active-directory.aspx

  • Error when setting GPO Display information about previous logon during user logon on Wins 7

We recently try to deploy a GPO on our network (All Server 2008 and Windows 7) to show previous logons during
user logon. The setting is located in Computer Configuration| Policies |
Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Logon Options | Display
information about previous logons during user logon = Enabled. Our domain
level is set to Windows Server 2008. I verified that it is Windows Server 2008
    on Domain and Trust.
Here is the article about this setting
Active Directory Domain Services: Last Interactive
    Logon
But after we deploy the setting, we are no longer able to login
to any of our windows 7 machines. All of them got an error message said :
“Security policies on this computer are set to display information about the
last interactive logon. Windows could not retrieve this information. Please
contact your network administrator for assistance.”
    The setting
worked on windows server 2008. I was able to login to DC and revise the setting,
so we can log back in the windows 7 machines.
    Anyone has experience this
issue before? I looked up all of the web and only thing they said is to make
sure the domain functional level must be set to Windows Server 2008, which it
    is.

    Hi,
Have we also applied this setting to domain controllers?  To make this policy work properly, we also need to apply this setting to domain controllers. If not, users will not be able to log on to the system.
Regarding this point, the following article can also be referred to for more information.

  • Problem with Policy "Display information about previous logons during user logon"

    Hello,
I've a problem with the Policy "Setting Display information about previous logons during user logon".
It is applied correctly on computer, but I can't login anymore and message "Security policies on this computer are set to display information about the last interactive logon. Windows could not retrieve this information. Please contact your network administrator
    for assistance" is appearing.
My home test domain has 2008 R2 functionality level since months, and I've raised my company infra level functionality to 2012 this morning. Both domain are making the same error.
This is non-sense, so any idea how to troubleshoot it ? Thanks in advance ! ;-)
PS : I was able to remove it in order to login again, no worries on this one...

Did you follow the guidance in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd446680%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?
Especially the following paragraph - the setting has to be applied to DCs and Members...:
You configure last interactive logon through a GPO. You must configure the following setting for the GPO with domain controllers in its scope of management if you want to report last interactive logon information to the directory service:
Computer Configuration| Policies | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Logon Options | Display information about previous logons during user logon = Enabled
If you want to display last interactive logon information to the user, you must configure this setting for both the GPO with domain controllers in its scope of management as well as any GPO with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista client
computers in its scope of management.

I'm struggling with the TechNet article you direct us to.  We see in the TechNet article that Last Login Notification works ONLY with Server 2008 R2 and Vista.  Do we interpret that correctly?
We need it to work with Server 2003, Server 2008, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Server 2012, et. al.
What is the work around to enable *Last Login Notifications to Users* functionality for these OSs?

  • Windows 2000 Logon without getting the windows workatation log on screen

    Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me!!
We have Win2K Professional workstations in our company. The workstations
have Zenworks for Desktops 4 installed as well as Netware client 4.83SP2.
When the PC boots up, the users get the following screens for logging on :
    1) Novell Logon screen to get the users logged on to the Netware services
    2) Windows Workstation Logon screen
In the past, I have created the user specific profiles on the PC and
therefore synchronise the netware passwords with the windows workstation
passwords. This was to enable the user to log on to the workstation typing
    the password only once.
The problem we have now is that the users want to be able to log on to
other workstations with their own username and passwords. This causes a
problem for us as we have to go to the workstation and create the user
specific profile again on the PC. This is becoming a real pain.
I have now created a common user on the workstation and modified
the "Users and Passwords" option in the CONTROL PANEL by unticking 'USERS
MUST ENTER A USER NAME AND PASSWORD TO USE THIS PC'. This allows the user
to go straight in to Windows without having to put in the user
credentials. However, the user still needs to click on the Novell
Client 'N' to gain access to the netware services.
Is there a way of automatically getting the Novell Logon screen poping up
when the PC starts up without the Windows Workstation logon screen popping
up afterwads? May be there is a registry entry which can be modified?
For now though I have put in the loginw32.exe in the startup menu which in
a way resolves the problem, but it is not ideal solution. I would like the
    loginw32.exe to launch well before.

    Hello,

    Hi,
Which user account you used for SQL Server service, domain account or local account?
If it is domain account, are you able to log in to a machine with it?
Make sure that the password of account is not expired.
Also, grant the user Allowed to Authenticate permission and see how it helps.
