Information Broadcaster Utilizes 60 to 90 % of Java Stack CPU

We are currently on BI 7.0 and EP7.0; we have started using Information Broadcaster and we are noticing that it utilizes 60 to 90% of CPU on the Java stack.
One thing to inform is that we are using the same Java Stack for Portal, BI and R/3.
90% of CPU seems abnormal to me (At the peak of its usage the Portal Performance goes down).
Will this issue get solved if we use a dedicated Java Stack for BI? Thoughts Please.
Regards,
Deepak

Deepak,
We too facing the same problem.
After proper analyzation our experts decided to go for a dedicated Java Stack for BI to increase the performance.

Ramkumar.

    SAP recommends very accurate (I better say pessimistic) sizing for server running productive ADS.
    The best approach is to use standalone server for productive ADS usage.
    IMHO, in that case you still can use the same ADS for productive, quality and even development usage.

  • Solution Manager information for Java stack systems

    Hi,
    Could someone please help with the setup of Solution Manager, and how to connect to the backend of a Java stack system. For our ERP systems this is working via RFC, but I was hoping to get more information on the procedure for java. I can specify manually via SMSY, but I am sure there must be a setup that can pull the information for the system itself. Could anyone shed some light on this if possible please.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Dear Chris,
    ABAP Stacks use RFC as you know for inter system communications.
    Java stack systems use Solution Manager Diagnostics.
    You will need to run Solman_Setup > Managed System Configuration
    First you should visit the link http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
    There you will see a link to the media library, and there you will find complete documentation.
    Hope you find this information Helpful.

  • Java class for Information Broadcasting

    Does anyone know what java class handles information broadcasting in 04s? Specifically, what class handle the batch execution of web templates and conversion to pdfs?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Information Broadcasting uses the same infrastructure as in 3.x version (as far I know)

  • Scheduling question for information broadcasting

    I am confusing between 2 options In information broadcast.
    1) executation at pre-defined time
    2) direct scheduling at background processing
    I have no idea what is the different of each.
    I read the sap help but it still does not make clear to me

    HI,
    In BI 7 we have various options..
    If you have Java Stack in BI server then it will use Portal and then there you can configure the settings, you need to give one technical name and then schedule the same.
    We faced the problem, in my system there is no Java Stack so we used BW 3.5 WAD in BI 7 system and then in WAD we configured the Broadcasting settings and saved with one Technical name then used RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER program and create Varient for "Broadcasting settings and saved with one Technical name " and in PC after Cube load we given this Program with Varianet , so once dataloads will happen the reports will distributes.
    Thanks

  • Do we have a java stack on BI?

    Hi all,
    We want to install Information Broadcasting on our BI 7.0 system, however one of the prerequsites is to have a JAVA stack, however i'm not 100% sure if we have one, as we never needed to any sole JAVA functionality of BI.
    I've looked under the MMC, couldn't find any J2EE tables, looked into the folder structure, didn't find any any real J2EE folder under the run folder. However we running a search i did find few "j2ee" related items, such as a j2eechk.txt, would that mean we have a j2ee stack? Is there a definite way to find out?
    Thanks much and happy weekend!

    Hi Sameer,
    If your BI system is having only ABAP stack, So there is nothing to worry.
    All you have to done is to check that is BI JAVA is installed on your EP server or not.
    To check that BI JAVA is installed or not, please look for the components in system information (Mainly BIWEBAPP and BI-BASE-S).
    Please note that for BI Broadcasting, your BI JAVA and ABAP BI should also be on having specific SPS (Please check SAPNOTE "SAP Note 1013369 - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI - intermediate Support Packages"

    Dear all,
    I can access the portal with our URL using a Web browser from your client machines .
    i got the following option :
    SAP Library
    SAP Library contains the complete documentation for SAP Web Application Server.
    Web Services Navigator
    Web Services Navigator is a tool that gives you a short overview of a specific Web service based on its WSDL, and enables you to test your Web service by creating and sending a client request to the real end point.
    System Information
    System information provides administrators with an overview of the system configuration and its state. It shows all of the system's instances and processes, their current state and important parameters (such as ports) that may be required for support cases, as well as the versions of the components installed.
    UDDI Client
    The UDDI client provides query and publishing functions for different Web service entities (tModels, business services) to any UDDI compliant registry.
    User Management
    The user management administration console provides administrators with the functions they need to manage users, groups, roles, and user-related data in the User Management Engine (UME). Users without administrator permissions can use it to change their user profile.

    J2EE Engine Examples
    This section contains several J2EE application examples that run on the J2EE Engine. The examples show some of the functions of both Java and the J2EE Engine. They can be easily deployed and tested by simply clicking on a button. The full source code of the examples is also available.
    when i click System Information:
    it ask user name () J2EE_ADMINand password (Installtion master password) ,after entered , i got below error .
    You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
      Details:   No details available
    Kindly suggest .

    Hello
    It means what it sais, your J2EE_ADMIN user doesn't have enough authorization.
    Chech if the appropriate authorization is assigned in your abap stack which belongs to the java stack you logon to:
    Role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN should be assigned to user J2EE_ADMIN.

  • Single-Sign-On (SSO) configuration on JAVA Stack through HTTP Header method

    Hello SDN community,
    in the context of a Proof of Concept, we are testing the integration of Microsoft Sharepoint Portal with SAP Backend (addin) systems.
    As the architecture impose use an external scenario (access from the internet), we couldn't use the Kerberos (SPNego) solution and thus we chosed the http header solution which in short uses an intermediary web server (in this case the IIS of the MOSS solution) which will act as authority.
    I miss information on how the workflow works for this http header authentication method. Through the visual administrator of the addin JAVA stack, it is possible to configure each application with a customized authentication (a choice of security modules). But this all that I know.
    My task is to configure SSO. From a sharepoint portal, the user should be able to access Web Dynpros and BSPs. I imagine that the very first call to a webdynpro or bsp (or maybe when we log on the sharepoint portal), the request to the WDP or BSP will first be forwareded by the intermediary server to the JAVA stack (or is it the SAP dispatcher that has to be configured).
    Is there an application to be built on the java stack to deal with the authentication, modify http header?
    What will the Java stack return? a sap long ticket? a token?
    How will the redirect work (to by example a BSP which is in the ABAP stack)?
    SAP preconise to secure with SSL the link between the intermediary web server and the JAVA stack, is IP restriction also a solution?
    A lot of questions about how this SSO http header should work,
    I would be very greatful for any help, or info,
    Kind regards,
    Tanguy Mezzano

    Hi Tanguy,
    to tell you the truth I'm really unsure about what you are trying to achieve. When I started posting to your thread I thought all you wanted was trying to access your J2EE engine via Browser and authenticate against the engine using HTTP Header Variables. Nevermind:
    Here are some answers to your question:
    in fact I did succeed, the problem was that even after domain-relaxation done by the J2EE, I had to change the domain of th SAP cookie to the bbbb.domain.com to be understood (I would have thought that all hosts in/under domain .domain would have accepted such a cookie but it seems that no...).
    The server does not care about the domain because Cookies in an HTTP Request do not contain any domain information. The domain is just important when the Cookie is set by the server so your Client (Browser) will know in which cases the Cookie may be sent or not. So if your domain is xxx.yyy.domain.com and your cookie is issued to .domain.com then your Browser will definitely sent it to all hosts under .domain.com (This includes xxx.yyy.domain.com etc.)
    My current scenario is: in a first request get a SAP Logon Ticket from the Java Stack, then change its domain and then directly call the backend with it.
    You can do that but there is no Client involved in this scenario. So this is useful if you just want to test the functionality (e.g. authentication to J2EE using Header Variables (This works finally!!!) and then use the fetched Logon Ticket to test SSO against any trusted Backend!!)
    So everything's is in a Java Client application without using any redirection.
    If I understand you, you're solution is from the Browser call a servlet (which is deployed on the Java Stack and has no authentication schema) by passing to it our http header.
    No, you should initially authenticate somewhere! I thought that maybe you had some resource you access before accessing the Java Stack. This could be any application (e.g. deployed on a Tomcat or JBOSS or other server or if you like even SAP J2EE). After authenticating there you are aware of the username and could use it to  procceed (e.g. Authenticate against the J2EE using the same user and HTTP Header authentication for that particular user!)
    That servlet will transfer the http header (with the HttpClient app) in order to get from the Java Stack a SAP Logon ticket, and then to redirect to the resource and by sending back the cookie in client browser. Am I correct?
    This was just a suggestion because I realized that there was no Client ever involved in any of your testing (looked strange to me!). I was just thinking that it would be easier for you to just get the Cookie into your Browser so your Browser would do the rest for you (in your case finally send the Logon Ticket Cookie to your Backend to test SSO using Logon Tickets!).
    The AuthenticatorServlet somehow serves as a Proxy to your client because your client is not able to set the Header Variable. That's why I initially suggested to use a Proxy (e.g. Apache) for that purpose. The problem is just that if you use a Proxy you will have to tell it somehow which username it should set in the Header Variable (e.g. using a URL Parameter or using a personalized client certificate and fetch the username (e.g. cn=<username> from the certificate!)
    This way of doing would simplify the calls for sso for each new application needing authentication, instead of having all code each time in it...
    I'm stuck again! Do you want to authenticate an End User or do you want to authenticate an application that needs to call any resources in your Backend that requires authentication?
    So my problem now, is how to call the servlet from the client browser:
    I'm trying to call my servlet from the browser but I don't succeed. I am able to understand how to reach a jsp from the Java Stack, but not to reach a servlet. I don't find the path to my servlet:
    <FORM method="POST" action="SSORedirect2" >
    A JSP is a servlet too. There is just no JAVA Class involved!
    You do not need any POST Request to invoke a Servlet.
    I see that my servlet is deployed, but I don't how what path to give to my form to invoke the servlet, here follows my web.xml
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
      <!DOCTYPE web-app (View Source for full doctype...)>
    - <web-app>
      <display-name>WEB APP</display-name>
      <description>WEB APP description</description>
    - <servlet>
      <servlet-name>SSOredirect2</servlet-name>
      <servlet-class>com.atosorigin.examples.AuthenticatorServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
    - <servlet>
      <servlet-name>SSORedirect2.jsp</servlet-name>
      <jsp-file>/SSORedirect2.jsp</jsp-file>
      </servlet>
    - <security-constraint>
      <display-name>SecurityConstraint</display-name>
    - <web-resource-collection>
      <web-resource-name>WebResource</web-resource-name>
      <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
      <http-method>GET</http-method>
      <http-method>POST</http-method>
      </web-resource-collection>
    - <auth-constraint>
      <role-name>DefaultSecurityRole</role-name>
      </auth-constraint>
      </security-constraint>
    - <security-role>
      <role-name>DefaultSecurityRole</role-name>
      </security-role>
      </web-app>
    If you have an AuthenticatorServlet Class all you need is to add the Servlet Mapping in your web.xml file
    e.g.
    <servlet>
      <description>
      </description>
      <display-name>AuthenticatorServlet</display-name>
      <servlet-name>AuthenticatorServlet</servlet-name>
      <servlet-class>com.atosorigin.examples.AuthenticatorServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
      <servlet-name>AuthenticatorServlet</servlet-name>
      <url-pattern>/AuthenticatorServlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    You can directly call the Servlet in your Browser by calling the URL provided in the url-pattern of your Servlet mapping ( in this case /AuthenticatorServlet). The engine will invoke the Class "com.atosorigin.examples.AuthenticatorServlet" in the background and do whatever you defined there!
    I have also to pass my http header and the redirectUrl in the GET request.
    If you like! I just suggested this for testing purposes. As I stated before you need a way to tell your proxy (or in your case AuthenticatorServlet) which user should be set when calling the Engine in order to authenticate using HTTP Header. You could use the URL Paramater to define the user you actually want to use when you set the Header Variable.
    I just introduced the redirectURL because you were talking about redirects all the time. So if you finally want to call the Backend you could define the Backend URL in the redirectURL Parameter and the Servlet will make sure that you are redirected to this location after the whole process!
    Thx for your input very helpful,
    But again 0 points
    Cheers

  • Transport via CMS (Java stack) no longer available after upgrade to sp 14

    Hello
    Recently we have upgraded our SAP-XI  (SAP NetWeaver 2004s) up to service pack 14.
    Since then the CMS is no longer available on the Java stack. Exporting objects is only possible using the File System.
    When we try to release change lists for CMS transport we get the following errors:
    #8 10:22:41 [AWT-EventQueue-0] ERROR com.sap.aii.utilxi.swing.toolkit.ExceptionDialog: Throwable

    Has anybody experienced similar problems with service pack 14 and has found a solution to "reactivate" the CMS? Might it be an authorization problem (UME)?

    Hello Lieselot
    The upgrade of our SAP-XI was done by an external company. Therefore I cannot tell you the detailed procedure.
    However, you should search the Service Marketplace for patches of support package 0014 (there should be at least one patch around).
    If I remember correctly patching was required on both ABAP and Java stack.
    Regards
      Uwe

  • PI 7.0 Installation : Physical separation of ABAP/Java stack !?

    Dear forum users.
    The system administrator of my customer would like (if possible) to separate physically both abap and Java stack on 2 machines for all XI system in the landscape.
    The goal is to optimize the clustering UNIX installation (I'm not expert of this part)
    => optimal high availability. (...)
    I just want to check near you if this can pose problem regarding XI operating way.
    From my point of you, it complexifies a little configuration steps but Is there another impacts ?
    PS : A master central SLD is envisaged and a second slave one on the XI production server.
    Thanks a lot in advance for your precious help.

    Thanks a lot.
    For information
    Our central SLD is on a standalone system
    However slave SLD (to ensure autonomy and HA for production XI system) will be deployed on Java separated hardware system of Xi production system.
    On master SLD all systems are described and all machine are linked with it (SLDAPICUST) except production XI one
    On slave SLD, all data of master one are replicated and only XI system is linked with (SLDAPICUST)

  • How to create Roles in UME (ABAP+JAVA stack)

    Hi,
    I have created roles earlier on JAVA stack alone. However, this time I am working on JAVA+ABAP stack. When I am trying to create role in UME, I am getting only two tabs:
    General Information
    Assigned Groups
    I am not getting Assinged Actions tab here.How do I assing actions ?
    Can any one please help me in creating roles in ABAP+JAVA stack.
    That would be  a great help!
    Regards
    Faisal

    HI Faisal,
    When ABAP is the UME, you can only edit users / groups that are J2EE only. Any group that is defined in ABAP is read-only for the Java Server to prevent conflicts (there is no synchronization) and has to be changed in ABAP.
    Please take a look at this link, which has a great graphic describing this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/7c/36dcd59865b246b993c471199ba37a/content.htm
    So, if the Java group was created in ABAP, the ABAP user has to have the ABAP role assigned to him, so that he is in the group on the Java server. make sense? The graphic in the link above really explains it well I think.
    If you a new / custom Java group (not in ABAP) then you should be able to assign users to it from the Java server.
