Information Broadcasting in SAP BI 7.3

Hi All,
We have a requirement to send a report to few recipients through Information Broadcasting in .CSV file. When I entered Info Broadcast setting through BEx analyzer, I am not able to find the option to send the file in .CSV format. I could only see MHTML, HTML and Links to current data. Could you please help me out in solving this?
We are on SAP BI 7.3

Unfortunately it is only possible to broadcast with the output format CSV with a query or query view. That is by design.

If you are seeing this behavior on other iPads sold in China, then I would have to assume that it is a country specific thing and you will not be able to change anything in the settings to make iBooks appear as an "open in" option. I would also recommend trying to find another eBook reader for these iPads, because you can't change the way it works now.

Information Broadcasting in BW 3.5

Hey Everyone,
We are currently having an issue with HTML files, unnecessarily changing when the files get updated on a website. We execute the job in the Reporting Agent, to generate the report, and then execute Download Scheduler to download this report to the website.
We know that when we make a change to the variant for that report, a new HTML link will get generated.
Does anyone know other reasons why the HTML link would change after generating and downloading the HTML report to their relevant website???

Monitoring / Alerts for Information Broadcasting Netweaver 2004

Hello sdn,
we are currently evaluating Information Broadcasting on SAP Netweaver 2004 (BW + Portal) on SPS19.
For a special requirement of a vendor we would like to send him a precalculated Excel Workbook using the precalculation service.
So far so good. Everything works fine.
Now we are wondering, whether there are any special monitoring methods or tools we can use in case an error occured and the mail is not being send.
Of course we could launch transaction scot or sm37 to check the errors, but we would like to go productive with a solution that triggers a mail event or something in case of errors.
Any hints welcome.

thanks for your reply. What we currently found out is that you can check rsrd_log where you can see the chronological steps for your task.
But still we havent found a standard opportunity to be informed automatically in case of an error.

Empty site at Information Broadcasting

Hello experts!
I want to do some changes in broadcasting settings. For this I go over Query Designer->BEX Broadcasting->take my Setting xyz and click on it to change it. After this my Browsersite changes to an empty site.
This happens not at every query I could choose. For some queries I can make and change settings for others I couldn't. The same with Web Templates.
Does someone has an idea what happens an what I can do?
A further problem is, that I want to execute my setting with program RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER for a test. Nothing happens. I thougt I could see something in transaction SCOT but everything there is "0".
Maybe a problem could be that our precalculation-server ist down at the moment if I look at transaction RSPRECADMIN. But I thought that precalculation is only necessary with workbooks...
Every hint is welcome.

Are your precal server setting are ok? Check the settings for the pre calcualtion server once.

Issue with Information broadcasting and pre-cal server in SAP BI

Hi Experts,
I have issue with information Broadcasting and Pre-cal server. I have a worrkbook whcih runs from information broadcasting in pre-cal server. Workbook is desinged on single query and workbook contains visual basic code. workbook has a variable which is controlled by Control query in information broadcasting.
I have 20 employees every month I need to send workbook via e-mail from information broadcasting. The problem is sometimes all 20 employees will recieve e-mails and sometimes not. I identified there is something wrong in workbook or in pre-cal server.
because after workbook calculation in pre-cal server is not pushing to SOST so there is something wrong in workbook or in pre-cal server.
I closely observed pre-cal server front end log. There are few operations performing on workbook in pre-cal server
like Open workbook, Calculate workbook, Save woorkbook and close workbook. In success case pre-cal sever is performing all the operations but in failure case pre-cal server is missing Close workbook case.

Thank you very much for the reply
I went into RSPRECADMIN and clicked on 'Display Current Queue'. There we have 3 sections
1) Queue Overview of Open Precalculations
I can see this section is always blank after running IB also
2) Queue Overview of Current Precalculations
In this section I can see an entry after running IB and duration is changing. but some time workbook in this section will never processed but the duration column is changing may be something is happening at this stage.
If the entry is not proccessed in this section and IB SM37 job will never end. I manually cancelled the job from SM50.
Don't why the workbook is taking long time and will never end even though I cancelled the SM37 IB job.
3) Queue Overview of Proccessed Error-Free Precalculations
All the error free workbooks which means all pre-cal server completed workbook calculation and sent to SOST.
I manually ran the workbook for all the 20 employees I can't find any pop-up message (earlier we have pop-up windows appearing because of VB code and when report returns no data and we fixed the pop-up issues)
Can you please help me further to trace the error.

I want to create a VARIANT in SAP BI 7.0 Which is to be used in information broadcasting. I found One Document Named as "Variant Creation In SAP BI to be used in Information Broadcasting.pdf",in SDN Forums. I Couldn't able to Understand the Given Steps in it.
Could any one of You Please send me the Procedure how to create a Variant.I should also see the "Determine from Variants" button in Work book precalculation Tab,which i am not able to see it currently under "Workbook Precalculation".

SAP BI - Information Broadcast through E-mail.

Hello,
I am facing issue with information broadcasting.
I set up a Broadcast setting,
1) Distribution type: Broadcast Email
2) Output format: MHTML as Zip file
3) Variable assignment: determine here
4) Filter navigation: No filter
5) scheduled monthly
When i broadcast the report, the user receives the e-mail with the Zip file.
But when he open the file he is not able to see the data (though there is data in the system)
                                                      email send
Bex report -
> BI System -
> user (user receives the email but cannot see data)
This occurs for different users. But the user in the past has received e-mail with data.
Please help me in understanding this.

Hey there,
Have you checked the SAP Notes mentioned below:
Note 958314 Broadcasting: Limitations for the MHT format
         772246 Display of MHTML mail incorrect
Also, it would be advisable to run the support desktool from Note 937697. If you find any RED errors, try to correct them using the suggestions given (see right-hand side). This checks the communication configuration between systems and platforms and may highlight errors which would affect the broadcasting of emails.

Information Broadcasting according to the SAP factory calendar

Is it possible to circulate BW reports via the Information Broadcaster according to the SAP factory calendar?
It is our objective to circulate reports according to working days (not calendar dates). Eg, to circulate cost centre reports on the 4th working day.

PS - we use BI7

As suggested above, you may need to create a new calender in SCAL. Points to be kept in mind during the creation of calender are;
1. Use special rules to create fourth working day every month
2. Keep in mind regarding the holidays.
3. You may need to validate this calender in future as you do not know the future holidays.
Option 1: Via Process chain
Create a separate/new process chain which updates the Infocube/ODS on which the report exists -> At the end of process chain, create a new process "Trigger event data change(for broadcaster) -> In the scheduling options of the process chain, use the newly created calender and schedule the chain -> In the Bex broadcaster wizard, select option "Execution with Data Change of Infoprovider".

Option 2: Via background Job
Create a new Job in SM36. In the scheduling options of the Job, use the newly created calender in restrictions. Create a new step for ABAP program RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT and schedule the Job.
If user has authorizations then, Time Point defined by the Job will be visible in the Bex broadcaster wizard.

Hi Vijaya,
You can use 'Information Bradcating' whenever we want to distribute queries, query views, Web templates, or reports to Predefined distribution channels like e-mail, portal, or printer.
The following distribution types are often used in BEx broadcaster:
1. Broadcasting Via e-mail:
Routine activity of sending a report Via e-mail For e.g. Daily Production or weekly Sales etc.
2. Broadcasting by Exception:
Send E-mail only when some exceptions are met. For e.g. Sales Value for a day less than 5000 Qty or Sales Exceeded 10000 Qty etc. This requires some customization in alert categories so that you will get this option in distribution type as Broadcasting by Exception.
3. Filling OLAP Cache:
Run the query in Background so that subsequent fetches need not hit the data target (cube, ODS) instead that information can be picked up from the Cache.
You can reach Information broadcasting via many routes.
Via Query Designer - Click on the Drop Down next to Publish' - BEx Broadcaster - Create a new setting.
In some cases you cannot see schedule button. That is a authorization problem. You need to get authorization S_RS_BCS.

What can I do?
If the termination type was RABAX_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination in the system BWD in transaction ST22.

If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server asalbwd_BWD_00 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.
If you do not yet have a user ID, contact your system administrator.

In FI Queries, I did not use 0CALMONTH Variable...
I do not know why it is giving that error..

Information Broadcasting: Monthly Reporting with variable dates

Dear all,
we have created a lot of reports with RD and have pubished the reports in the portal. Our reports have a lot of selection screens. Now we would like to use information broadcasting. We have already created information broadcasting settings. We have maintained fix variants for our reporting
For example:
Variant x1
Organization: C110
Scenario: Actual
Date: is filled by the user Exit
Now we tried to shedule the report. We are using Variant x1 to find the correct selection. The problem is, that we have already saved a fix date in the variant (for example 01.01.2008), because the field is obligatory.
The User-Exit for the variables works with step 1, but the problem ist, that the variant x1 is overwriting our User-Exit value.
How can I avoid, that the Variant is not overwriting the User-Exit. Of course for reporting without variant, the manual entry has priority before the user exit.

in order to update months, firstly create variants for the reports. Then implement the below program modifying the users inputs. For current month or last month you have to hard something like sy-datum(6), an you have to hard code the field name for the month variable that you use in query.
Below program is for BI 7.0, you can also check the document. It also contains a method for bw 3.5 variants.
You can schedule this program in a process chain or make variations of this as needed.

Some questions on Information Broadcasting

We're implementing Information Broadcasting. I have some questions and would be delighted if you could answer some or all of them!!
1. When using Web-templates I get the following message after opening my zip-file (Independent HTML-file) thru e-mail:
- Bex Broadcaster does not support Precalculation. What's the meaning of this? We get precalculate figures.
- The broadcaster demands that Javascript can be executed in the browser. How to solve?
2. When I broadcast a query as zip-file HTML with seperate MIME files then the precalculated views do not have drilldown functionality, i.e. the navigation block functionality does not work (static). I put navigation on Distribution channel. Is this normal way of working?
3. Broadcast functionality does not give possibility for Distribution type: 'Export to Enterprise Portal'.
We have an Enterprise Portal. Is additional customizing required?
4. Process chains have the Event Data Change process. This only works if I attach it directly to a cube. When I connect it to the process load data (i.e. to an Infopackage) it does not work. Any ideas?

Hi Harjan,
Not sure what the issue is with regard to (1).
With regard to (2), you need to to click on the 'Filter Navigation' tab in the BEx Broadcaster, enavle filtering, and select the characteristics you wish to filter on.
