2.Is it mandatory to create a Universe before creating any WebI or Crystal Reports.Cant we create WebI or Crystal directly?
Thanks,

yes, it is mandatory to create universe because the data base have the information about your complete  project. so cannot retrive all data, make only required data from database to desigining the universe.
the universe is a layer that maintain the RDBMS tables and is restrict the data from corporated data

  • How do i get information about a business object?

By using reflection i am able to get the list of objects and properties in SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.
How can i get a classified list of all objects from the same.
I mean classified with respect to modules.
DI API business objects are grouped to the following modules of SAP Business One application :
    Administration
    Finance
Marketing Documents and Receipts (Sales - A/R and Purchasing - A/P)
    Business Partners
    Inventory and Production
    MRP
    Banking
    Service
    Humanresource

    Hello
If you read more in the help, you can see which modules holds the corresponding objects...
    Example:
Marketing Documents and Receipts (Sales - A/R and Purchasing - A/P)
object called: documents and you may track the correct object types (oOrders, oInvoices, etc)
if you see the help on Documents object, you can find detailed description there

A good place to start is the workflow forum, it has a FAQ and you can search for similar questions.
Major concepts needed working with business objects is: delegation and instantiation.
Most of the work is done in transaction SWO1 (maybe you can view the help-->application help in this transaction)

  • Business Objects - Siebel Integration kit - Generate Query

    Hello
Thank you for reading this post.
I am designing reports using Crystal reports 2008 from Siebel CRM using the BO - Siebel integration kit. With the help of kit, all the business components (BC) of Siebel are exposed as tables in Crystal reports and can be fetched in the query to run a report.
When I run a report from Account BC, I am getting multiple records in the report. When I checked the SQL query from Siebel server, I found that there is a cartesian product in the query due to which duplicate records are coming.
Is there any way to modify the query which is generated by the integration kit??
When I discussed the issue with the Siebel Configuration team, they suggested that there should be a way to choose links in the BC. Can you please suggest a way to expose links in BC??
    Waiting for reply..
    Thanks
    Devesh

    Hi Devesh,
In Business Objects Enterprise Integration for Siebel document, Chapter 6 Using Crystal Reports with Siebel, there is content talking about:
Linking tables in reports, and introduce how to link between parent and child Business Components, how to use the parent's multi-value field, etc, etc.
Could you please have a look at the content there and let us know if it contain the information you need?
Business Objects Enterprise Integration for Siebel document is available here:

  • Business objects

    Hi,
I have no idea about business objects. What are business objects and as a functional consultant what I can do with business objects meaning can I give some additional things with very little efforts to my client or may be some convinience in use of SAP using business objects ?
WHat and where business objects can be useful ?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
<b>What are business objects and as a functional consultant what I can do with business objects?</b></b>
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/59/ae4484488f11d189490000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
<b>Business objects</b> are real world entities modeled as objects in an information system.
Business objects encapsulate both data structures and the functions applied to the data, but hide their full complexity from other objects. This encapsulation of data and functions makes it easier to modify program components, because you can program with the relevant entities without having to know all the implementation details. You can also reuse existing functions.
<b>WHat and where business objects can be useful ?</b>
Client programs access business objects by reading their attributes, or by calling the methods that make up the object’s interface:
    Attributes
Attributes describe the data stored in an object through a set of properties. They provide direct read access to the data structures of objects, but client programs cannot change them from outside.
    Methods
Methods provide a way to encapsulate the data structures of business objects, and to process them. When accessing an object, the client program calls a method with parameters and gets back return parameters.
    Interface
The interface is the set of methods associated with a business object, and determines how an object interacts with the outside world.
The client program defines the object types to be used and, at runtime, creates object instances of those object types.
SAP business objects are managed in R/3's Business Object Repository (BOR).

  • Portal logoff not clearing business objects SSO connection

Is there a way to clear the saved SSO information from the business objects session in the background?
    The scenerio;
On a computer shared by multiple users
UserA Logs on to the SAP Enterprise portal, navigates to an iview that uses OpenDocument to run an xcelsius dashboard.  Single signon works great and dashboard is displayed.  This dashboard resfreshes on open and data retrieved is correct based on this users autorizations in BW.  The user Clicks the logoff link in the masthead of the Enterprise portal, the portal session and its SAP logon ticket are closed and the Portal logon page is redisplayed.
UserB logs on the the SAP Enterprise portal, navigates to the same iview, the dashboard runs and retireves the data, but the data displayed is based on the BW autorizations for UserA.
I verified that the SSO connection that userB is using to retrieve data is left over from UserA.  (I did this by simply opening an InfoView window and it shows the userid of UserA in the Welcome message.
Closing the Browser window between each user login takes care of the problem, but is not really something we can count on our users doing.

    Hi Gail,
We are also facing same issue as you had, Integrated BI launchpad with Portal and SSO is working fine via portal. But issue is already opened reports or Business objects will not clearing as you had after log off and lo-gin back.
Can i setup any property to clear the BOBJ cookies or Can i create sap note for logoff option button on BOBJ via portal.
Can you please suggest me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

    Bye Richard

    hi,
Is needed field available in context nodes or not?
    for example:
If you want to read STATUS_DESCR attribute from the context node SELECTEDDOC , then code like this
    lr_selected ?=  me->typed_context->SELECTEDDOC->collection_wrapper->get_current( ).
    if lr_selected is bound.
      lv_status = lr_selected->get_property_as_string( 'STATUS_DESCR' ).

  • Where can I find information on migrating from Business Objects 5 to XI R2?

We want to migrate several Business Objects implementations - some of which are Business Objects 5 and some Business Objects 6 to consolidate them into a XI R2 environment.
I have the document that describes migration from 6.x to XI R2 but what is the process for migrating from Business Objects 5. Do I need to migrate from 5 to 6 and then follow the 6.x to XI R2 migration?
Any pointers to additional hints and tips on migration or how to estimate how much effort is involved would also be welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
Following are the detailed steps for migration via Import Wizard:
1] Go to Start > Programs > Business Objects XI Release 2 > BusinessObjects Enterprise > Import Wizard.
2] The Welcome dialog box appears. Click Next.
    Setting source and destination environments:
3] In the Specify source environment dialog box, set the following:
u2022 Source: Business Objects Enterprise BO 6.5.x.
    u2022User Name:
    u2022 Password: visor
    BOMain key
Note: Do not check the Import Application Foundation contents option since you are not performing Performance Management migration at this time.
    Click Next.
4] The Warning page appears. Click Next.
Note: The source repository can store any file, not just supported agnostic documents. Since the BusinessObjects XI Release 2 architecture requires a plug-in for each file extension, it does not import unsupported files (for example, .zip files and as .svg documents used in corporate dashboards).
5] The Specify destination environment page appears. Set the:
u2022 Destination: Business Objects Enterprise BOXI R2
    u2022 User Name:
    u2022 Password:
u2022 Domain key file to: Default drive: \Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2
    Click Next.
6] Select the types of objects you want to import in this stage of the importing process. At a later stage, you select the objects themselves.
    u2022 Select the option u2018Import universes u2018.
    Click Next.
7] Import options for universes and connections dialog box appears.
Select the third option: Import all the universes and connections that the selected Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence documents use directly.
8] The Please choose a merge scenario dialog box appears. Select I want to merge the source system to destination system and check the automatically rename top-level folders that match top-level folder on the destination system option.
    Click Next.
9] The Incremental Import dialog box appears.
You may need to import some objects more than once from the source repository to the destination repository.
In this situation, you have the following update options:
    u2022 Overwrite object contents
You select the types of objects for which the content overwrite applies:
u2022 Documents (including dashboards and analytics)
    u2022 Universes
    u2022 Connections
When you re-import an object, it will completely overwrite and replace the matching object (and its associated files) that you imported earlier.
    u2022 Overwrite object rights
When you re-import an object, its associated security rights will overwrite the rights of the matching object you imported earlier.
If you decided not to import security in the Security Migration Options dialog box, then the Overwrite object rights option is not relevant, and is therefore not available.
If you don't select any overwrite options, the matching object in the destination repository will not change when you try to import it again.
Note: This dialog box appears only if you select update as the import scenario.
    Click Next.
    10] Select the specific universe
    Click Next
11] Information Collection complete dialog box appears.
    Click Finish
12] Import Progress dialog box appears.
    Click Done
    Hope this helps !!
Please revert in case of any queries.
    Regards,
    Deepti bajpai
