Information on HR project

Hi All,
We are planing to implement SAP HR. We would like to know strengths and weaknesses of the variety of technologies SAP employs to process data, develop interfaces, send notifications, etc.: ABAP, SAP workflow, XI, etc.
Please provide the information and alternatives, pro and cons, and recommendations if any. If you have any presentation on the same that would be great help.

    Hi Rama
Retailing consists of the sale of goods or merchandise, from a fixed location such as a department store or kiosk, in small or individual lots for direct consumption by the purchaser.[1] Retailing may include subordinated services, such as delivery. Purchasers may be individuals or businesses. In commerce, a retailer buys goods or products in large quantities from manufacturers or importers, either directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells smaller quantities to the end-user. Retail establishments are often called shops or stores. Retailers are at the end of the supply chain. Manufacturing marketers see the process of retailing as a necessary part of their overall distribution strategy.
Shops may be on residential streets, shopping streets with few or no houses, or in a shopping center or mall, but are mostly found in the central business district. Shopping streets may be for pedestrians only. Sometimes a shopping street has a partial or full roof to protect customers from precipitation. Retailers often provided boardwalks in front of their stores to protect customers from the mud. Online retailing, also known as e-commerce is the latest form of non-shop retailing (cf. mail order).
Shopping generally refers to the act of buying products. Sometimes this is done to obtain necessities such as food and clothing; sometimes it is done as a recreational activity. Recreational shopping often involves window shopping (just looking, not buying) and browsing and does not always result in a purchase.
Most retailers have employees learn facing, a hyperreal tool used to create the look of a perfectly-stocked store even when it is not.

    [edit] Retail pricing
The pricing technique used by most retailers is cost-plus pricing. This involves adding a markup amount (or percentage) to the retailers cost. Another common technique is suggested retail pricing. This simply involves charging the amount suggested by the manufacturer and usually printed on the product bize the manufacturer.
In Western countries, retail prices are often so-called psychological prices or odd prices: a little less than a round number, e.g. $6.95. In Chinese societies, prices are generally either a round number or sometimes a lucky number. This creates price points.
Often prices are fixed and displayed on signs or labels. Alternatively, there can be price discrimination for a variety of reasons, where the retailer charges higher prices to some customers and lower prices to others. For example, a customer may have to pay more if the seller determines that he or she is willing to. The retailer may conclude this due to the customer's wealth, carelessness, lack of knowledge, or eagerness to buy. Another example is the practice of discounting for youths or students. Price discrimination can lead to a bargaining situation often called haggling, in which the parties negotiate about the price. Economists see this as determining how the transaction's total surplus will be divided into consumer and producer surplus. Neither party has a clear advantage, because of the threat of no sale, in which case the surplus vanishes for both.
Retailers who are overstocked, or need to raise cash to renew stocks may resort to "Sales", where prices are "marked down", often by advertised percentages - "50% off" for example."Sales" are often held at fixed times of the year, for example January sales, or end-of-season sales, or Blue Cross Sale
    [edit] Retail Industry
Retail Industry has brought in phenomenal changes in the whole process of production, distribution and consumption of Consumer Goods all over the world. In the present world most of the developed economies are using the Retail Industry as their vital growth instrument. At present, among all the industries of U.S.A the Retail Industry holds the second place in terms of Employment Generation. In fact, the strength of the Retail Industry lies in its ability to generate large volume of employment.
Not only U.S but also the other developed countries like U.K, Canada, France, Germany are experiencing tremendous growth in their Retail Sectors. This boom in the Global Retail Industry was in many ways accelerated by the Liberalization of Retail Sector.
Observing this global upward trend of Retail Industry, now the developing countries like India are also planning to tap the enormous potential of the retail sector. Wal-Mart,the world's largest Retailer has been invited to India. Other popular Brands like Pantaloons, Big Bazar, Archies are rapidly increasing their market share in the retail sector. According to a survey, within 5 years, the Indian Retail Industry is expected to generate 10 to 15 million jobs by direct and indirect effects. This huge employment generation can be possible because of the fact that being dependent on the the Retail Sector shares a lot of Forward and Backward Linkages.
Emergence of a strong Retail Sector can contribute immensely to the economic development of any country. With a dominant retail sector, the farmers and other suppliers can sell their produce directly to the major retail companies and can ensure stable profit. On the other hand, to ensure steady supply of goods, the Retail Companies can inject cash into the production system. This whole process can result into a more efficient production and distribution system for the economy as a whole.
    [edit] Etymology
Retail comes from the French word retaillier which refers to "cutting off, clip and divide" in terms of tailoring (1365). It first was recorded as a noun with the meaning of a "sale in small quantities" in 1433 (French). Its literal meaning for retail was to "cut off, shred, paring". Like the French, the word retail in both Dutch and German (detailhandel and Einzelhandel respectively) also refer to sale of small quantities or items.[citation needed]
    [edit] Retail types
According to Jim there are three major types of retailing. The first is the market, a physical location where buyers and sellers converge. Usually this is done in town squares, sidewalks or designated streets and may involve the construction of temporary structures (market stalls). The second form is shop or store trading. Some shops use counter-service, where goods are out of reach of buyers, and must be obtained from the seller. This type of retail is common for small expensive items (e.g. jewelry) and controlled items like medicine and liquor. Self-service, where goods may be handled and examined prior to purchase, has become more common since the Twentieth Century. A third form of retail is virtual retail, where products are ordered via mail, telephone or online without having been examined physically but instead in a catalog, on television or on a website. Sometimes this kind of retailing replicates existing retail types such as online shops or virtual marketplaces such as futurebazaar.com or Amazon.[2].
Buildings for retail have changed considerably over time. Market halls were constructed in the Middle Ages, which were essentially just covered marketplaces. The first shops in the modern sense used to deal with just one type of article, and usually adjoined the producer (baker, tailor, cobbler). In the nineteenth century, in France, arcades were invented, which were a street of several different shops, roofed over. counters, each dealing with a different kind of article was invented; it was called a department store. One of the novelties of the department store was the introduction of fixed prices, making haggling unnecessary, and browsing more enjoyable. This is commonly considered the birth of consumerism [3]. In cities, these were multi-story buildings which pioneered the escalator.
In the 1920s the first supermarket opened in the United States, heralding in a new era of retail: self-service. Around the same time the first shopping mall was constructed [4] which incorporated elements from both the arcade and the department store. A mall consists of several department stores linked by arcades (many of whose shops are owned by the same firm under different names). The design was perfected by the Austrian architecht Victor Gruen[5]. All the stores rent their space from the mall owner. By mid-century, most of these were being developed as single enclosed, climate-controlled, projects in suburban areas. The mall has had a considerable impact on the retail structure and urban development in the United States. [6]
In addition to the enclosed malls, there are also strip malls which are 'outside' malls (in Britain they are called retail parks. These are often comprised of one or more big box stores or superstores.
Non-traditional exterior of a SuperTarget, JacksonvilleLocal shops can be known as brick and mortar stores in the United States. Many shops are part of a chain: a number of similar shops with the same name selling the same products in different locations. The shops may be owned by one company, or there may be a franchising company that has franchising agreements with the shop owners (see also restaurant chain).
Some shops sell second-hand goods. Often the public can also sell goods to such shops, sometimes called 'pawn' shops. In other cases, especially in the case of a nonprofit shop, the public donates goods to the shop to be sold (see also thrift store). In give-away shops goods can be taken for free.
There are also 'consignment' shops, which is where a person can place an item in a store, and if it sells the person gives the shop owner a percentage of the sale price. The advantage of selling an item this way is that the established shop give the item exposure to more potential buyers.
The term retailer is also applied where a service provider services the needs of a large number of individuals, such as with telephone or electric power.
IS Retail was original develop to meet specific needs of Retail industry where standard SD/MM cannot.
    - Significant functionality difference are:
    - Store specific features are built into IS Retail where as it is not in
    standard SD/MM.
    - Mass processing of pricing (some of the retail features were
included as standard SAP as of 4.6)
    - Assortment handling is not in standard SAP
There are other differences in inventory costing/valuation etc.
Retail valuation only available in SAP Retail.
What is known in the trade as the "retail inventory method" or the "retail method" involves valuating stocks at retail, often aggregated at merchandise category or departmental level.
Both the cost method and the retail method can be used in SAP Retail.
Actually IS-Retail is a combination of MM and SD plus other funtionalities speacially developed for the retail industry such as:
    Promotions
    Pricing
    Assortments
    Clasification
    Merchandise category
    Seasons
Is important to mention that all the funtionality of MM and SD is avialable in SAP IS-Retail with some diferences in some transactions:
Material master data (article in retail) has some diferences.
    Vendor master data.
    Site master data.

  • Need information on transferring project from one Mac to another

I just returned from a trip, during which I started and added photos to an Aperture project on my MB Air.  When I got home and started up my MacPro after the month's absence I was surprised to see the same project appear on my desktop.  I thought I understood that Photo Stream/iCloud simply "shared" the month's photo stream between devices and computers, but was not aware that a project would also appear on each computer.
The photos were actually added physically to only the MB.  Question:  Does the project that appears on my desktop actually contain all of the photo files and information downloaded to the desktop?  Or, are they simply in the "cloud" somehwere with a link in Aperture?
Also, if they are not physically on my desktop, how would I get them there wihtout actually importing every SD card again?  Thanks!

Unless you actually imported them into the library on the desktop system they are only in the photo stream (and on the Air)
You can do one of two things:
You can import them from the photo stream. Make a project in the library on the desktop and drag the images from the photo stream to that project.
Or else export the projects you added the images to on the Air as a new library, copy that library over to the desktop and import it into the library on the desktop.
The advantage to doing it this way is if you have made any adjustments to the images or added metadata then that will be added to the library on the desktop. If you copy from the photo stream you will only get the originals

  • How to Capture Multiple Cost centres and Business Unit information in a project?

    Dear Experts,
With the help of UDA functionality in project super responsibility, I have captured Cost centre and Business unit information and this info will be used/reflected in CC and BU segments of all transactions gets recorded against that project.
Now, our user wish to have multiple cost centres and business units to be tracked in the same one project. How is this feasible? Below example describes my requirement in a summary, please advise.
An Indirect project is created when a defect on a machine reported from client's customer and all subsequent activities (purchases, travel to customer site to analyse and troubleshoot, purchases for any in-house analysis etc..involves costs spending internally) in resolving that defect/project involves 6 to 7 different departments (Sales, Tech Support, Quality team etc.,who actually work/travel and spend costs against project until defect resolution). And, each of the above departments will have 1 dedicated owner (project owners) to manage that project and each of these 6 or 7 owners owners will have their own cost centres (eg: 2345 - Sales team) against which they wish to see their transactions (travel, purchases during defect resolution) globally.
So, all I want to know is how can I make one single project to accommodate multiple cost centresand business unit information to be assigned using UDA? Please let me know if I am not clear.
    Regards
    Venkat

I think you should use the expenditure organization on the transaction itself to derive the CC/BU. Have AA lookups and define AA rules where you look at a Exp Org to BU or Cost Center to derive accounting.

  • Catalyst deletes all svn information in a project

    HI there!
I´ve got a little Problem with Catalyst CS5.5.
A brief statement what i am doing.
I created with the Flash Builder 4.5 a Catalyst compatible project and added it to my svn account. After that i created a skinnable component and it´s skinclass. Thereupon i openend Catalyst within the Flash Builder 4.5 and build up the skin for the component.
Then i saved the project in Catalyst and openend again in Flash Builder.
Everything worked very well until now, the only issue is that all the svn informations are deleted from the project.
I assume that the Flash Builder deletes all the "unnecessary" files when it exports the project to an fxp.file to open it in Catalyst.
How can i prevent that catalyst deletes all the svn informations?

You can separate your Flex project from your Flash Catalyst components/skins.
One way of doing is to create a Flex library project (tick the checkbox for FC compatibility checking), create some custom Flex components in it in ActionScript, export that library project as a FXPL from Flash Builder and import that FXPL in FC in a blank project (from the project library). Once you are done skinning your components, export back the FXPL from FC and import it in Flash Builder. Check here:

If we are using Webdynpro for developing UIs , then what needs to be done on the Webdynpro side for doing the rollout .
I have been searching sdn regarding this but could not get any useful information .
    Thanks a lot .

    Hello Vijay,
<a href="http://www.sap.com/services/education/consultant/solutionacademy/index.epx">Here</a> you can find an overview of the different consultant training.
You have a track for Portal (<a href="https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/sapidp/011000358700003602072006E">link</a>) and also one for KM (<a href="https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/sapidp/011000358700003602162006E">link</a>).

  • Wrong information in comumns project panel

I'm using Premiere Pro CS 3.2.0 in windows XP sp3.
Clips captured with premiere to *.avi files.
In the project window the column Audio info shows 720 x 576 (1.422) and video usage shows 32000 Hz etc.
Columns after these are showing also information belonging to other columns.
The column Creation date doesn't show up with information.
Capturing with another program shows the same errors.
Do anybody knows what is wrong?
    John

    John,
    Welcome to the forum.
That is a new one to me. I'd click on the little right-facing arrow (top-right of the Project Panel) and down at the bottom of the drop-down, Rearrange Columns. I'd uncheck everything, so that all Columns disappear. Repeat, and this time, check the Colums that you do want. Hopefully, when redrawn the X'ed "wires" will be fixed.
If that does not work, and Column location and info is part of the Project in CS3, Import your existing Project into a new one of the same Preset, and see if this forces the Columns to correct themselves. Here, I'm guessing that there might be corruption in your .PRPROJ file.
    Good luck,

  • Where can I view information on the project duration?

I am trying to estimate how long it will take users to take a course. Yes, much of it is self-paced, but is there somewhere in Captivate i can view how long the project is just based on slide length?

I didn't answer your question last night, because it also depends on the version you are using. If it is the latest one, CP 5.5 you also have a brand new panel Project Info that offers you that and some other information.

  • I want to create a document/spreadsheet (whichever) that I can send to agencies to type in information for work projects. Any ideas? I have an Excel file but it does not convert over very well and I am having trouble making changes to it.

Need to create a new spreadsheet or be able to edit the one I have.
I use this spreadsheet as a work order form for social service agencies. They enter name address etc., and then there are various work projects that they can select as well.
The one I have from the organization I work with is an excel file but it does not convert over very well. Instead of being 7 pages it is more like 11 or so because things run off the page.  I am trying to delete certain things and move them over but not working out very well so thought it might be easier to start over fresh.
Is numbers the program to use? If so, any useful tips?

If the form is going to be used on an iPad, Numbers is the only game in town.
Numbers is available for Macs only (and iOS devices). Excel is available for PCs and Macs. If you are in a mixed environment of Windows PCs and Macs and you are using this document as an electronic form, Excel is probably the better choice. Otherwise you will need to export to Excel for the PC users then import from Excel to retrieve their data. The import/export process is not perfect. A file that has been exported then reimported will not be the same as the original file. I would assume social services agencies are almost entirely PC-based.
If the form is to be printed or turned into a PDF for distribution and use by the social services agencies, either Excel or Numbers would do the job but right now Excel might be the better choice. I would have recommended Numbers '09 but I cannot recommend Numbers 3 for anything thsat requires printing until they give us the layout and printing functionality we used to have (editing in Print View, ability to set margins, etc).
If everything else in your department/operation/agency is Windows PC and Microsoft Office based, you would be better off sticking with the standard.
    I hope that helps.

    Hi,
Refer todays thread.. as dinesh ans
Some of the typical questions would include:
    1. How is the data loaded - Do they use process chains?
    2. How often is the data loaded?
    3. Are the loads full upload or delta enabled.
    4. For which areas of SAP are the loads done. Do they use Business Conetent or Generic Extractors.
    5. How do they do "data validation" after each load.
    6. What are the source systems from which data is loaded.
    7. what are the kind of reports that are used - Bex or Web.
    8. What are the typical(most common) errors faced while doing the dataload.
    9. Any plans for upgrade?
    10. What is the Backup Recovery and Archive Strategy
    11. What is the system landscape (how many environments, how many source system, how everything is connected to...)and the used transport strategy
    12. Co-existence with 3rd party Scheduling Tools...
    13. aggregates to maintain ?
    14. how many users to assist..
    15. are roles and user management in scope ?
    16. how are managed space issues (procedure, warning and so on...)
    17. how are monitored performance (technical content...)
The activities in a typical Production Support would be as follows:
    1. Data Loading - could be using process chains or manual loads.
    2. Resolving urgent user issues - helpline activities
    3. Modifying BW reports as per the need of the user.
    4. Creating aggregates in Prod system
    5. Regression testing when version/patch upgrade is done.

  • Regarding information on Upgrade Project

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know more details about Upgrade Project. What are the technical and functional tasks will be there in the process of Upgrade.
Please help me this because i'll be starting my work in Upgrade Project in another 2 days.
    Thanks in advance
    Tanveer

    Hi,
first of all upgrade is nothing but
Upgrade is nothing but installing a new version of software which have more functionality earlier version.
    in Upgrade mainly three types
    1.Technical Upgrade
    2.Functional Upgrade
    3.Strategic upgrade
Technical upgrade : is a fast upgrade without additional functionality but with minor user interface changes, to ensure business continuity. This upgrade type includes a cleanup of the system without implementing additional functionality, as well as technology upgrade with the opportunity to eliminate not used modifications and custom developments.
Functional upgrade : Is built on the technical upgrade, the functional upgrade provides in addition the opportunity to implement new functionalities in area like FI,HR,Logistics ..,this upgrade type also represents an opportunity to maximize the use of SAP standard functionalities by replacing custom modifications and consolidate instance or systems.
Strategic upgrade: Is driven by enterprise SOA to provide more flexibility to business process innovation. This type of upgrade approach represents a significant technology improvements step by leveraging SAP Net weaver functionality to standardize, adapt, and enable new business processes and optimized scenarios.
The major stages of a technical upgrade can be:
System preparation and stack level patch upgrade u2013 Basis Team
SPDD Phase u2013 ABAP and Functionals
Up gradation of the system u2013 Basis Team
SPAU Phase u2013 ABAP and Functionals
DBACOCKPIT for indexing u2013 ABAP TEAM
    Unicode check
    Issues during upgrade
For Further clarification in this regard, Do let me know.
Hope I have answered your query.

  • Information on closed projects

    Hi All,
    I  have two questions:
    1. How can we check , on which particular date the project was closed.
    2.  Is there any way by which we can close  n number of projects in one  go without doing it individually for each and every project.
    Regards,

    1. How can we check , on which particular date the project was closed.
Go to Cj20n --> click on the Project/WBS / netwrok activity (for which you want to see the status change track.) --> Edit menu > Status> system/ user status ( system will take you to change status screen ) --> go to extra menu --> change document --> all ( system will take you to change docuemnts in status management ) use 'all changes' & 'history' tabes for your analysis.
    2. Is there any way by which we can close n number of projects in one go without doing it individually for each and every project.
I think it may not be possible.

  • Question slide pulling information from different project

    Hi all,
Not sure if this has happened to anyone before but I started a new project, imported a PPT deck and then started adding question slides. Except that my question slide has a caption from a previous project somehow embedded into it. I can't click on it, I can't delete it. It's even pulling the style of the 'Incomplete Caption'. I don't know how it could possibly be linked to the other project.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

Okay here's what I've found: If I start a new project -> 'From PowerPoint' and I add question slides to the project, the error occurs across the board.
If I start the new project -> 'Blank Project' and 'insert' the exact same PPT deck and THEN add the question slides the error doesn't occur.
Not sure how or why that makes a difference, but for now I'm just happy to get back to work!!
Thanks Manoj for checking this out
