The first exam in the certification track, Oracle 11i E-Business Suite Essentials, is now available and you can attend a course for it or utilize CD based training to cover the exam content. Personally, Id rather learn off a CD so I think Ill be going that route. I couldnt find much more on the Oracle site about these certification tracks and what other exams are going to be included so if you know something I dont, please add your comments.

There are several Oracle Solaris certifications, so it is difficult to know which certification you wish to pursue. The certification pages should be available in all countries (tho bigdellboy is correct, the certification may not actually be available in all countries due to US trade embargoes). If the pages are not displaying in your country, this is an issue with the website. Please provide the country from which you are trying to access the pages. This is vamsi krishna. I am new to oracle applications. I am looking for material which contains different examples for:
1) Reports and various types of reports
2) Forms and forms customization(all types of examples)
3) Detailed examples of all types of canvases in forms
4) All the cycles and interface programs that are called in each cycle. for example in an O2c cycle what are the tables that are effected and what all interface programs or api's that are called in between.

Informations about Oracle Application Express

for my company I have to do a complete comparison of four tools which can be used for creation of GUIs:
- Oracle Application Framework
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Application Express
- Microsoft .NET Framework
Here in this topic I search for some facts about the ApEx:
- How does it work (language, tools, ...)
- Performance vs. the other three
- Integretation into E-Business Suite
- Possitbilites of the GUI
- Screenshots, Links, etc.

The goal is to build a GUI where you can handle Tabledate, etc. Well you can certainly very easily do that with APEX.
As for the disadvantages/advantages, what I would suggest is -
Option 1
Use -
1) OTN (plus other Vendors websites)
2) OTN Forums/Google Groups etc
3) Google to find other sources (but with extreme care to validate/verify your sources)
To research the information on your own. Unless you have experience of the products yourself, then this area is fraught with potential problems, as you are effectively quoting information that you have not verified yourself (hence the need to be very satisified that you trust the source of the information).
Option 2
Contact a respective expert in each of the technologies asking them to cite advantages and disadvantages of the tool they use.
Again, there is a potential for 'bias' here, so you need to make sure that your 'source' is objective enough to be able to provide realistic disadvantages of the tool (at least in the context of your question)
Option 3
By far the best option in my view -
Try and find someone who has used both/some/all of the tools you're trying to compare. Once again it needs to be someone who's opinion you can trust (otherwise what is the point?).
The most difficult thing about having 2 people comparing products A and B, is that the person extolling the virtues of product A might not know that product B actually makes certain things easier and vice-versa. By having someone who has used BOTH products discuss the pros and cons then you get a much more 'real-world usability' view of the benefits and drawbacks.
Just my thoughts, hope they help.

Very big difference with respect to training and skills
And Oracle DBA needs to know $ORACLE_BASE and $ORACLE_HOME.
An Apps DBA needs to be familiar with these plus $APPL_TOP, $COMN_TOP, $PROD_TOP, and much much more including Application Servers, JAR files, EAR files, and, again, much much more.

Does an 11gR2 Oracle Application Certification Matrix Exist

If an organization is going to 11gR2 this year, is there a document they can use to find out what Oracle application versions they need to upgrade to to be certified on 11gR2?

I have good interest in Oracle, but I think that I am not being able to give good shape to my career wrt Oracle.
I have done Oracle 9i OCA certification.
I need to know which trainings should I attend/go-for to enable me to do and extract good things from Oracle.
Till now, I have gained knowledge and experience in PL/SQL. I have no experience, but do have knowledge of DBA stuff.
I need to provide a list of desired Oracle trainings to my manager so that he can arrange for them.
Also, which certifications are beneficial for me.
The help provided will be highly appreciable.

What course would help satisfy the training requirement if you went for dba cop.

Oracle Applications Alert: Want message output in HTML format

Hi,
My question is regarding Oracle Application Alerts. Currently, we get output of message in plain text.
How can i provide/setup Oracle Alert in such a way that message send through Alert are HTML formatted text?
I have referred Oracle Alerts 11i User Manual and ran google search on this topic but have not found any answer so far.

XML Gateway for Oracle Applications to 3rd Party Application System

I am having one unique requirement for sending/receving an xml file from Oracle Applications to 3rd Party Application system (which supports XML). Has anyone worked on the XML Gateway for sending/receiving the PO/ASN or Pick Release/Ship Confirm XML information from Oracle Applications (11.5.9 or above) to 3rd Party Application System.
Looking forward your valuable inputs/suggestions on this.
Note: Please note that, Trading Partner setup has to be done for a 3rd Party Application System.

Where can i download the oracle applications software for DBA

I want to know few things regarding oracle applications.
1) What exactly is oracle applications
2) Where can i download the oracle applications software
3) I am currently working as oracle DBA, so i want to enhance the dba skills to oracle application, so where can i find further help,documentation related to oracle applications and dba related to that.

Oracle Applications is an integrated ERP solution, with Finance, Manufacturing and CRM modules. Please visit appsnet for further information.
Unlike other Oracle products, Oracle doesnot give free software downloads for Oracle Applications. They were once giving trial versions for about 40 USD. Now I am not sure, please check up Oracle website www.oracle.com. Look for link on "e-business suite" under the 'products' directory.
If you can get hold of documentation on 11i, you can check out System Administration and Application Object Library (AOL) modules, these fall in your area. You can find this on oracle website or metalink.
Be aware that general Oracle DBA on 8i or 9i is a different ballgame than managing 11i. Lot of websites are available for these harried people, and for more information, you can visit the websites www.appsdba.com, www.oncalldba.com or do a general google search.
If you can get hold of a book "OCP for Oracle Financials 11.0" by Christopher Allen and Vivian Chow, this has good documentation on above two modules. But this is in 11.0, not 11i.

How to authenticate oracle application user from third party application -

Hi All!
I am using OC4J as a J2EE container with an Oracle Applications setup (11.5.10, LINUX version). This is for an application which gets called from Oracle Applications. We need the user, responsibility and session information of Oracle applications to be passed on to our application which is running on a different port in OC4J. We are unable to get the information when we call our application from a menu option in Oracle Applications.
Various papers have been mentioning mod_oc4j.so module, which we are unable to find in our Oracle Applications setup.
Any help as to
(1) where we can download and install mod_oc4j.so from and
(2) passing the above mentioned information to our application running on the OC4J port will be greatly appreciated.

thanks for your reply, but i don't wanna see that user in my list then what should i do??? This is not possible, you cannot delete the user from the application.
if i set end for that user in that form then anyway the user will be there and visible....am i right??? please correct me if i am wrong...Correct.
is it so that when the end date is passed, the user will be deleted from list which is shown in user management form??No, you will still see the user in the form/table.
