Information Rights managements - Sorry, you need permission to open this document

I have configured "Information Rights managements" on share point .
I have also configured it on "Documents" document library.
I have a user that is in "Approve" Group.
I log in to portal by this user . This I download a file from "Documents".
When I try to open it , it asks me for credential .
I set the username and password . Then I get this message "Sorry, you need permission to open this document.Do you want tp request permission from http://servername/en-us/Documents".
So why the user cannot open the file although he is in "approve"  group and this group found in the permission of library.

  • I keep getting "You need permission to perform this action"

I keep getting "You need permission to perform this action" when trying to write to a 1TB FAT32 drive attached and shared properly
I am having exactly the same problem with with the permission blocker on all my computers. I also have full owner/admin (whatever you want to call full ownership rights) for my 2 PCs and 1 laptop. All are able to connect to the internet and use and extract files off of the 1T external hard drive (which is connected into the router as a network drive with a USB cable).
But... When I attempt to write "TO" the drive, that..is when the retarded 'no permission box' comes up.
I have tried differant users, matching names and passwords to the accessing computer and with users being members of the admin group with read and write access but no luck.
All of the linksys support only gives XP examples. i am running 64bit windows 7
Either exactly the same thing, or something very similar was happening when I 1st hooked up this router almost a year ago. The tech guy over the phone from linksys fixed it by installing a patch the same way they would do a hard install of the firmware ( I'm guessing it was an early version of a win7 patch). Hmm...  Strange that there are postings of this problem I am once again facing, BUT... NO solution posted. Curious; I deffinately would have thought this problem would have by now, after all this time, been posted on the FAQ with a simple fix. Obviously my findings for a solution are MUCH less than expected.
From: 1st time dissapointed in linksys.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Woo Hoo! I have found the solution to this problem on my own after MANY, MANY hours with tech support from Symantic(for Norton360), Cisco Linksys(for the router), and Network Magic (for the software that comes with the Linksys wireless router). Symantic was only able to uninstall norton and reinstall it and said there's nothing wrong with their software and that there's nothing more they can do.
Network Magic basically did and said the same.
And... Last but not least, Cisco. Cisco Linksys Basically did the same as the others for the firmware but, they then came up with the bright conclution that it must be a defective unit and they will send me a new one.
Well... That was not good enough for me; all of my equiptment (including the router) has been working great since the 1st setup about a year ago.
Well... Here's the way I fixed it:
Once the network drive is mapped properly, go into 'computer', right click on your network drive, choose properties, open the security tab, click the edit button, and there you go. Now you should see the account that keeps telling you the no permission from it. If it is there as it should be, click on that account to highlight it and then pick the permissions you whish to have. Click apply and ok. You should now be able to edit, add, remove, etc. your files now.
My only problem with this is: Where did this account come from and why did it default without editing permissions, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY (you'll find out if you try to do this) WHY CAN I NOT REMOVE THIS ACCOUNT. When/If I find out the answers to these final questions, I will post it here. So, if you are iterested in this situation, check back. I'm deturmined to get to the bottom of this.
For now, I'm gong to let Cisco send me the new unit because this mysterious new account may be a hacker that has entered our machines through the router somehow. If this is the case, my theory for how this can happen is: all linksys units come default with easy access with a user/pass as admin/admin. I would have to strongly suggest that you go into your router cofiguration under the administrations tab; personalize the router password AND under the storage tab; in the 'User Management' section, click on the 'Modify' button and personalize the admin password(make sure to write down your new passwords and what they goto

  • You have signed in to an iCloud account that doesn't have permission to open this documents

    Hi,
All my Pages and Numbers documents on iCloud.com have suddenly become impossible to open. On iCloud.com (from IE10 or Google Chrome 40/Win 8) their file names appear scrambled (encrypted?) and if I try to open them I get this error message: "You have signed in to an iCloud account that doesn't have permission to open this documents". I can still open the files with Pages (2.5.2) and Numbers (2.5.2) on my iPad 2 (iOS 8.2). I haven't tried to access from my Macs.
I have tried to disconnect Pages on my iPad from iCloud, delete all files from Pages on iCloud.com, and reactivate the iCloud sync on my iPad. The files are uploaded but I still have the same problem.
I should say that I also cannot access my iCloud Drive ("Can't load iCloud Drive. There was a problem loading the application") or Photos (same error message).
The problem seems to be fairly recent as I have worked on my documents on iCloud.com for weeks without any problem (last successful access two days ago).
Since my last successful access I have updated my iPad to iOS 8.2 and modified a few Pages files from it.
Does anyone now what the problem might be?

Goto settings, iCloud, click on your user account at the top, login with your password, if you can successfully login, you will see your files are no longer encrypted. I had this issue when I upgraded to 8.2 on my iPad, for some reason I had access to iCloud drive, but the files were encrypted, it never prompted that something was wrong with my token.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to apply Information Rights Management to a document library.
Here is a link about how to set up Information Rights Management (IRM) in SharePoint admin center, you can use as a reference:

  • You don't have permission to open this file.

I'm trying to add an Entity Data Model to a Project in Visual Studio 2013.
When I browse to the file to connect to it says
"You don't have permission to open this file. Contact the owner or administrator for permission."
When I go back to SQL Management Studio and check the Server Roles assigned to my user name, I'm listed as a sysadmin.
I clicked ALL the other server roles for good measure, but this does not help.
When I installed SQL Server 2012 I created another user on my computer to serve as the SQL Server Services Account for SQL Server Agent and SQL Server Database Engine.
I notice that this user shows up as the database owner for the database I'm trying to connect to, even though I was logged on using my user name when I created the database.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't know much about Entity Data Model, but if you get an error about lack of permission for opening a file (what file?), SQL Server is probably not the right place to look for file permissions. SQL Server is about managing data in databases, not
files in the file system. For file-permission errors, you need to look in Windows. Or try starting Visual Studio with "Run as Administrator".

  • IPhoto Library locked in Yosemite; You do not have permission to open the document "iPhoto Library"

Long story to get to the iPhoto part but may help someone who is in-the-know about what can be done for me...
I turned on my computer a few weeks ago (iMac 27" late 2012, 2.9GHz Intel core i5) to access some photos in iPhoto and it would not load to the home screen but gave me the Disc Utilities Menu. From memory the options I had were; (1) Restore from Time Machine Back-up, (2) Re-install OSX, (3) Get online Help, (4) Repair or Erase using Disc Utility.
I tried Repair in option 4... no success.
I tried option 1 as I have my internal HDD backed up to an external HDD via Time Machine in case anything goes wrong... no success.
I tried option 2 (which was Mavericks) and it loaded and took me to my desktop.
When I tried to opened the iPhoto app in the dock there were no photos in it.
After searching forums and the internet they suggested it may have been an iPhoto upgrade issue so I tried to update iPhoto but found it was already up-to-date.
After looking, I found that the "iPhoto Library" in "Pictures" had a red circle with the white dash through it and was locked. When the "iPhoto Library" folder was double clicked I got the message "You do not have permission to open the document “iPhoto Library”.
In all the trouble I have upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 (with Photos 1.0) and am obviously still having the same warning/error message come up when the iPhoto Library folder is clicked.
Right click won't allow me to view package contents.
The "Import" function in the "Photos" app won't do anything with the folder, and the "iPhoto Library" folder looks and functions the same in all of the back-ups on my external HDD Time Machine.
I don't care if I need to use "Photos" or "iPhoto" but I do need to get the photos out because they are irreplaceable. If had know this problem was possible (especially while using Time Machine) I would have manually stored and backed my photos up in folders on another external HDD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, feel free to ask any additional Questions (but this is the first time I have posted in the forum so hopefully I can work out what is going on if you do reply to this post )
    Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried this earlier with no success either. Even with the padlock unlocked I can't even change the tab that says "OPEN WITH". I still get the... "You do not have permission to open the document “iPhoto Library” message. You may also it continues to say "Fetching" where it should say my user name at the bottom.

  • Error while collecting files in AE CS3 - You do not have permission to open this file (-54)

I've got a rather large project that I'm attempting to collect.  35,000+ files to collect (lots of image sequences as footage), totaling near 80GB.  The collect process starts and copies files for a while, but inevitably errors out during the copy procedure with the error "You do not have permission to open this file" -- a different file each attempt.
I'd read some complaints of a similar error last year due to QT 7.4, but I'm on the current Quicktime (7.6.4).
Anyone seen this before?  What can I do!?  Thanks in advance for any ideas.

      Imaginary Forces

Well, we're just a small shop, but since it usually falls upon me to administrate, here's a few general tips:
Hide all resources that are not meant to be accessed by certain people. This can be done easily by using different sub-nets on your network and defining access privileges. Write down the network MAC addresses and use a whitelist/ blacklist. A bit of work initially, but a lot safer than working with user names.
Forget about individual user privileges. At one point or another everyone will bump into situations where they cannot access stuff, but need it for their work. Simply ramp up all users to Power User status, but assign individual groups to them which only you can manage. That leaves it up to you to define who can access what, but without having to dig so deep that you always end up with individual adjustments. You merely add or remove users from groups (which is more practical for interns and freelancers, even)
Quota can do miracles for you. If a user only has x GB of storage available, he'll quickly learn to not create redundant data by copying files.
Prevent all local storage. Artists have a tendency to offline files at whim for experimentation and then forget about it. Give them a "garbage dump" directory on the server instead where they can store their private data and any non-persistent work files, but with quota. Use server-side desktops and user home directories, if possible, but unfortunately many programs cause problems with that (including Adobe's), so it's not always an option.
For each new project, create a pre-defined folder structure. We e.g. use number_clientname_worktype_year for the root, and inside have directories for compositing, 3D stuff, print, client data etc.. Define it so from the getgo, that specific structures like project directories for 3D programs with their sub-folders for textures etc. are in place, but users cannot create additional folders. When they are forced to use existing folders, they will be much more careful in naming their files.
Define versioning rules and naming conventions. Now "siginificant milestone" is a matter of view, but I at least try to create new version files for that. So if e.g in the morning I open up a comp project and change a few things in it that take more than 10 minutes to reproduce, this is significant and a new version is safed. I don't care much for simple things like adding effects - I can reproduce them in a wee in case of crashes or data loss - but complex masking, elaborate 3D modeling, dynamics simulations etc. qualify.
Of course back up every day, at least incrementally. If following the above rules, this can be as easy as copying the project folder to an external disk.
As for the rest - simply be hard-nosed. Your artists will whine and complain for a while, but they will get used to it and eventually see the wisdom in a regulated system. It's also up to you to brief them accordingly and remind them from time to time.

  • After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)

    Hi all,
I'm new to after effects. I have just started receiving the following error every time I try to render my movie:
"After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)".
Yesterday morning, I was able to render movies, however, after I did Apple's latest update I've started receiving the following error. What is happening is that I'm trying to render a movie. It gets to a certain point in the movie (about 0;00;16;09) and then this error pops up. This morning I've tried to repair the permissions with disk utility, but that doesn't seem to have helped.
I've searched Google and the Adobe support forums with no luck. Please help.
Thanks in advance for you help,
    William

Have been able to downgrade to QT 7.3 using Pacifist. Did NOT require re-install of OS.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread...347251&tstart=0
    Download the right version here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
    Panther: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...forpanther.html
    Tiger: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...31fortiger.html
    Leopard: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...forleopard.html
    Install with Pacifist
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Now that I am back to QT7.3, iTunes7.6 is now asking me to update QT to 7.4 in order to be able to view the new movie rental feature of the iTunes store... which sorta sheds some light on the no permission error. Now that iTunes is renting, not just selling, movies, QT is now all fussy about ownership and permissions. Just a guess.

  • You're signed into an iCloud account that doesn't have permission to open this spreadsheet.

Running Safari Version 8.0.3 (10600.3.18) on MacBook Pro with Yosemite Version 10.10.2 (14C109).
I have one spreadsheet in Numbers on iCloud.com. I do not have Numbers installed on my Mac, I just use Numbers (Beta) on the iCloud.com website. I don't need nor want Numbers installed locally on my Mac for my purposes. I made this spreadsheet when I first installed Yosemite, a couple months ago.
This morning, I edited the spreadsheet, then tapped on the margin to clear the editing tools. The spreadsheet saved. I closed it, and saw that it updated the date in Numbers on iCloud.
This evening, I restarted my Mac, restarted Safari, logged in on iClout and went to Numbers. I noted that the time was correct, but the spreadsheet name was corrupted. I tried to open it, and got a message: "You're signed into an iCloud account that doesn't have permission to open this spreadsheet."
Well, that is hogwash. I have one Apple ID and one iCloud ID. I am already signed into the iCloud.com account via Safari and the correct username is displayed.
I logged out, cleared Safari cache, quit Safari, then went back on. Same problem, spreadsheet name was corrupted and the message popped up when I tried to open it.
I have done some searching and have found some others who had a similar problem, yet no answers.
Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix?
