    Hi , I am assigned to migrate data from SAP system which is using DB2 to Oracle 10g.I not very familiar with SAP. I hope someone can help me., especially for those familiar in SAP.
    Please help me.

    Hello,
    just migrating a DB2 database to Oracle 10g might be an easy task. The Oracle Migration Workbench is the tool for such a migration:

    I have no idea about SAP, and that might complicate the picture. But there exist specialists for this task:

  • Migration of Informix Database to Oracle

    I'm currently looking for a migrationtool to migrate an Informix
    Database running with SAP R/3 applikation to a oracke database
    running under SAP R/3.
    Is the Oracle Migration Workbench able to handle such a request.
    Thanks in advanced

    Chris,
    Presently the Workbench does not migrate from Informix,
    however there are a series of script based tools that presently
    exist that may be of help. They are available for download from
    OTN, under the Migration Toolkits section under Migration
    Workbench.

  • How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3.

    Hi All,
    How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3 system.What are all the possible ways to move bulk data from Oracle Apps to SAP r/3 system.
    Provide any 3rd party tools which supports data migration and also pls rpovide the SAP's own data migration tools with supports the above feature.
    Awaiting for best possible solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Dharmaraju

    the 3rd party tool is ETL , you can use ETL tool and the prepare the load files then you can use LSMW method to upload the data to SAP.

  • Migrating data from SAP BW to Oracle

    We have a requirement where the exisiting data from SAP BW needs to be migrated into Oracle. What are some of the major differences that we should keep in mind when migrating this data. Our first task is to generate the data model in Oracle. Can we use a tool such as SQL Data Modeler or ERwin to derive the logical model from SAP and use it to build the physical model in Oracle? Would this be possible? Can you share your experiences in building data models for data migration?

    This is a very specialized area you are looking at. My recommendation is that you look at SAP sites on Oracle.com for assistance. There is also a SAP Migration white paper you can read and the Oracle/SAP site.

  • Migrate Informix 11 to Oracle 11g

    Hi,
    Are there any Oracle or third-party tools to assist with the migration of a database from Informix 11 to Oracle 11g? All the stuff I've found seems to stop at Informix 9.
    Thanks
       Brian

    Hi Brian,
      If your management do not want to pay for Dg4Informix then you could use the Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) which is included in your RDBMS license but needs a third-party ODBC driver.  It has less functionality than the DG4Informix but can be used for simple processing.
    See the following -

  • SAP BW migration from oracle bi with BO

    We have presently Orcale BI with BO and we want to migrate in to SAP BW 7.0 . We have SAP SD,MM,FI,Self service,QM module for reporting with MDM . We have do solution design and rollouts . Is it we require functional people for this project. Is it BO-BI integration project? . We are considering BW,BO,EP,ABAP, basis and function module people . Is it this staffing is correct ?.
    How we can do existing orcale BI with BO to SAP BW 7.0 . we have 46 system as of now and we want to migrate all to SAP BW . What is the approch for this .
    Thanks
    RB

    Hi,
    Recently I have done similar kindly of implementation (Green field)
    Assumption
    Existing report are fixed no more requirement changes
    Best approach
    BODS is more flexible to load data to BW and reduce abap coding by 70% instead of Oracle to BW
    Go by phase wise
    Please kindly see answer are inline
    Is it we require functional people for this project.
    Yes we need them but for touch basis not full time. (At the time of requirement and reconciliation )
    Is it BO-BI integration project? .
    Yes
    We are considering BW,BO,EP,ABAP, basis and function module people . Is it this staffing is correct ?.
       EP no need according to your requirement your are not going by portal
    You may required below stuffing
    Primary stuffing ( one who will be there end to end for project and experience level above 5 years )
    Project Manager/Technical Manager - if he is good in BW ( most welcome)
    BODS(2) - 1. strong knowledge with BW and BODS integration developer and BW knowledge
              2. Database modelling consultant for to split master data and Transaction data and mapping document.
                 (usually oracle has master data and transaction data in single table but bw will have separate table)
    BW(1) -  one Strong Techno functional
    BO(1) -  one strong knowledge with BO and BW integration consultant.
    ABAP(1) - One strong in BW Modelling along with BW ABAP
    BASIS(1)
    BO Admin(1)
    Secondary stuffing (experience level less than 3 years )
    BW(3) - Three Reporting developer
    BO(2) - Two Reporting developer

  • Migrating single instance SAP and Oracle 11.2.0.1 database to Oracle RAC

    We have a single instance SAP Netweaver environment on Oracle 11.2.0.1 database and want to migrate to Oracle 11.2.0.1 RAC and ASM. The documents are for 11.2.0.2 and later but we want a way to:
    1. Migrate single instance SAP and Oracle 11.2.0.1 instance to ASM
    2. Configure the environment as four node Oracle 11.2.0.1 cluster
    Thus far, I have:
    1. Installed clusterware 11.2.0.1
    2. Installed four ASM instances
    My questions:
    1. We want to migrate the single instance database to same server and extend to four node cluster and ASM
    However, current SID for SAP and Oracle must remain the same. The problem I have is that the target database name needs to be same as source on same physical host.
    2. How would I use RMAN to migrate the single instance database to ASM for 11.2.0.1?
    3. How would I use rconfig after this step?

    1- We have single instance Oracle 11.2.0.1 database using file based datafiles, archivelogs, controlfiles, etc on single RHEL5 Linux host

    3- We have installed four node Oracle 11.2.0.1 clusterware on the above nodesAnd what is the shared storage? For RAC, all shared storage devices for the cluster need to be available and usable by all ASM instances in that cluster.
    Issue- we have RAC 11.2 clusterware listener using SCAN and listeners for all four clusterware nodes.
    When we try to run the following RMAN command to migrate the single instance Oracle 11.2.0.1 datafiles it fails:The failure says: "+RMAN-10038: database session for channel ORA_DISK_1 terminated unexpectedly+". And this in itself does not tell you what the actual problem encountered is.
    4- How to register the single instance with all four ASM instances and network services to resolve the above issue?Register what instance? ASM does not need databases or instances to be registered. It is a storage management layer. The cluster (grid infrastructure) layer is the one that deals with the registration (and management) of the various services and resources on that grid (e.g. ASM instances, database instances, SCAN and VIP, Listener services, etc).
    5- Do we need to first run rconfig utility against single Oracle 11.2.0.1 instance to register with clusterware services BEFORE using RMAN to perform the datafile migration to ASM?Never used rconfig. See Support Note +RCONFIG : Frequently Asked Questions [ID 387046.1]+ for details.

  • Oracle to Informix migration

    Hi All,
    I want to migrate an oracle project to informix. Can you please let me know a solution? If any tool fro that,please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Manikandan

    Try this - http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/downloads/migration/mtk/
    I'd recommend the latest version of IDS - with each release of v11 there's been more and more compatibility with Oracle, esp. stored procedures, sql extensions and the like.

  • DB Migration from oracle 8.1 32bit to 64 bit

    Hi,
    We are working on oracle 8.1 on 32 bit on solaris 64bit operating system. We are working on SAP R/3 4.6C.
    We want to migrate our oracle database form 32 bit to 64 bit.
    If anyone can help me with some documentation, it would be helpful. Please send to my mail id [email protected]
    Also, please suggest some preperatory steps for the same.
    Thanks,
    Sailesh K

    Dear ,
    you are going to upgrade from 8.1.7.3 (32-bit) to 8.1.7.3 (64-bit).  This
    applies if you are running Java inside the database.
    1)  Shutdown your 32-bit 8.1.7.3 database.  Shutdown the listener.
    2)  Take a cold backup of this database.
    3)  Install Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7.0 (64-bit)
    4)  Apply patchset 8.1.7.3 (64-bit) to this oracle home.
    5)  Copy your init.ora from the 32-bit home to the 64-bit home.
    6)  Edit the init.ora of the 64-bit ORACLE_HOME so that the following
        parameters are set as follows:
        aq_tm_processes = 0
        job_queue_processes = 0
        systemtrig_enabled = FALSE
        db_block_buffers= (at least 2000)
        shared_pool_size= (at least 150MB)
        java_pool_size= (at least 20MB)
    7)  sqlplus internal or sys
        startup restrict your 8.1.7.3 database using the ORACLE HOME of
        8.1.7.3(64-bit).
    8)  delete from duc$ where pack='JIS$INTERCEPTOR$' and proc='USER_DROPPED';
        commit;
        @?/rdbms/admin/utlip.sql
    9)  Go to Metalink, select Patches, and put in 1994933 for the 'Patch Number'.
        It will come up with a patch saying that it is for HP, but it is actually
        generic for Oracle on all platforms.
        After downloading the patch, extract it and keep track of where you put
        the rmsro.sql and invalidate.sql files.
    10) Now run the following, again from sql*plus connected as internal or sys:
        SQL> @?/javavm/install/initjvmaux.sql
        SQL> @<directory where you placed the files from step 9>/rmsro.sql
        SQL> call rmsro.run();
        SQL> @<directory where you placed the files from step 9>/invalidate.sql
    11) shutdown normal the database
    12) If you are following this procedure because you are converting word size
        from 8.1.7.3 32-bit to 8.1.7.3 64-bit *ON SOLARIS*, then you also need
        to apply another fix.
        Go to Metalink, select Patches, and put in 2209569 for the 'Patch Number'.
        After downloading the patch, extract it and put the classes.bin file from
        the downloaded patch into $ORACLE_HOME/javavm/admin.  This will replace the
        classes.bin file which is already there.
    13) Startup restrict your 64-bit 8.1.7.3 database
    14) Sql*plus internal or sys and type
        SQL> create or replace java system
          2  /
    15) Shutdown the database
    16) Startup restrict the database, connect as internal or sys and run
        SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql;
        -- To check on the progress of utlrp.sql, you can open a second sql
           prompt and do a select count(*) from dba_objects where status!='VALID';
           This count should keep decreasing as the script progresses to
           revalidate all the objects.
        -- If you get an ORA-29554 unhandled Java out of memory condition error,
           simply rerun utlrp.sql again and it will pick up where it left off.
    17) Shutdown the database
        (Note: you may get an ORA-600 [729] error, which can be ignored.
        If that is the case, simply do a shutdown abort before continuing)
    18) Change the SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED parameter in your init.ora as follows.
        SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED =TRUE
    19) Startup restrict, connect as internal or sys and run:
        SQL> insert into duc$ (owner, pack, proc, field1, operation#, seq)
             values ('SYS','JIS$INTERCEPTOR$','USER_DROPPED',0,1,1);
        SQL> commit;
    20) shutdown the database
    21) Modify the database startup parameters JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES and
        AQ_TM_PROCESSES (and shared_pool_size/java_pool_size/db_block_buffers if
        you modified them earlier) back to their original values.
    22) restart the database
    23) check that you are able to startup & shutdown normally the database
        without hanging anywhere.

  • Migration of Oracle 32-bit to 64-bit on same Windows host.

    Hi,
    Title: Migration of Oracle 32-bit to 64-bit on same Windows host.
    We have windows host x64 bit. Oracle is 10g 32 bit and we want to migrate it to 10g 64 bit. I would like to know the steps. Note 940811 is not clear enough.
    Please help.
    Many thanks,
    Mohan.

    Hi,
    I think SAP Note 940811 is not relevant to your case as far as I understand your case in your previous thread because you are already on oracle 10.2 and there is no upgrade required.
    Please check SAP note 192822 and please check below extract from this note:
          5. Can I switch to 64-bit, even though I already run the same oracle release on 32-bit?
          Yes. The only thing that needs to be done is
    run del_ora.csh to delete the 32-bit software
    install the 64-bit software
    start the database.
    As the wordsize changes with 64-bit, all pl-sql-predures should be recompiled.
          Therefore please run the following two scipts on db-level:
          @$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlip.sql -invalidates all plsql-procedures
          @$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql -recreates the plsql-procedures with the new word size
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • External Storage Repository for SAP Archive Link

    We are about use SAP Archive Link as part of a document scanning process. For storage, the intention is to use EMC Centera. We are on SAP ECC 6.0.
    Does anybody know if any additional software or hardware is required, or would we already be capable of  retrieving images from Centera storage without anything additional.
    If we start to store the scanned images on filestore, would it be possible to migrate the images to EMC Centera storage in the future without losing the link to the documents in SAP?
    Many Thanks
    Claire Crosby-Clarke

    Hi,
    >Does anybody know if any additional software or hardware is required, or would we already be capable >of retrieving images from Centera storage without anything additional.
    If Centera storage is certified by SAP for Archivelink you will be OK.
    In my company, we use Filenet and we had to purchase a special Archivelink connector.
    We scan incoming invoices, do OCR, create automatically the SAP invoice and make the link with the scanned invoice in Filenet.
    >If we start to store the scanned images on filestore, would it be possible to migrate the images to EMC >Centera storage in the future without losing the link to the documents in SAP?
    I don't think so, because the link in SAP is an identifier in the storage software.

  • Migration from Oracle 9i database to 10g in ECC5

    Hi Experts,
    We are planning to move our production system which is currently running ECC5 on AIX OS and Oracle 9i database to AIX OS and Oracle 10g database.
    Some doubts regarding the above procedure:
    1)Is there any possibility of SAP system migration from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g. If yes, do we need to perform any addinitional steps for that?
    2)If the above condition is OK, then what type of system copy should we need to follow: Homogeneous or Heterogeneous? Heterogeneous system copy is ususally done incase of system copy involving different databases. Does that apply for differnt versions too like Oracle 9i and 10g?
    Any response is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    If i'm using the dbua then the above issue will be solved by dbua itself?Well, DBUA will only perform a sanity check on your current release and if it doesn't pass it will fail. In other words DBUA will not upgrade your 9i release to the proper compatible release that you have to do before upgrading to 10R2.
    Personally I never used DBUA, I always prefer manual upgrades, DBUA is good for you bcz it will not allow you to miss any step while upgrading.
    What is the size of the database which you are going to upgrade?
