Infoset in BI

Hi ,
I know to create infoset in R3 ( SQ02 ), But what is termed as infoset in BI ?
How to create infoset in BI ? What is use of it ?

Info-set is used a table join to join transparent tables for e.g. ODS object, Info-object etc.
Generally we go for info-set approach when a multi-provider solution fails due to the diifferent structure of the underlying object, nature of data content etc,
You can create info-set from AWB -> Info-Providers -> Info-Area -> Create Info-set.
Until BW 3.x it was possible to join only ODS object by info-object in info-set. BI 7.0 allows info-cube as well.

Data is not getting displayed in the report from an Infoset.

Hi All,
I am having a report based on an infoset. This report is displaying the data in the Dev. envmt. When it is transported to the QA, it is not displaying the data in the BEx as well as RSRT, in the QA envmt. The patch levels of both the Dev. and QA are the same. The Queries are same in the Dev and QA also.
While trying to display the data from the infoset (rt.click- display data), i am able to view the data, in the QA.
Could anyone please suggest why the data is not getting displayed in the query designer.

Hi Ashish,
I ran the "ZPS/!ZPS" in RSRT where ZPS is the infoset name. In Dev, it displayed the values. In QA, it displayed the below messages:
ECharacteristic 0TCAKYFNM does not exist. Check authorizations
WThere are calculated elements. These results are bracketed [ ]
and below that, it displayed the values for Number of records. But, it has not displayed the values for the other figures.
Does this has any impact in QA.

Hi All,
How to enable fields in the infoset.
I have dso and cube in an infoset, In the DSO there are certain infobjects with char more than 25 which are disabled for selection.
I want these fields to be included in my Infoset. How to make it enable.
Is there any limitations in length of char to be used in infoset?

How to enable fields in the infoset.
open the Infoset in the change mode , there will be a check box along with field,tick the checkbox in the DSO/cube. It will now be available in the infoset.

Just execute the steps mentioned above.
Is there any limitations in length of char to be used in infoset?
No the info object of char can have a max length of 60 and the length is not a criteria of limiting its usage in Infoset.

Hi ,
From what you are saying, i am guessing there could be difference in field types used and in dictionary.
Try this.
1.Go to SQ02
2.Change query area (Standard / Global) in Environment --> Query areas depending on where your infoset is.
3. Select your Infoset.
4. Goto --> More functions --> Check and generate / consistency check --> Adjust.
or Try this.
1. Select your infoset.
2. Change
3. Goto --> Global properties --> see if "no automatic text recognition" is checked in options tab.
If you still having problems, give me more detail on how have you joined tables, have you used any extra fields, or have you done any coding in Infoset, I may be able to help you.

Creation of a Marketing Profile Set based on the standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset thru the WebUI Segment Builder

Objective: Creation of a Marketing Profile Set based on the standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset thru the WebUI Segment Builder.
Problems: Standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset DOES NEVER RETURN ANY RESULTS on the segmentation builder of the WebUI client (no matter the filter you specify).
Other cases: However if we create a new Data source with data "Extraction from Query" (transaction RS02) based on this standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset and we test the functionality using transaction RSA3, IT DOES RETURN RESULTS (using the same filters as in the segmentation builder)! Of course the segmentation builder works with other attribute lists.
NEW: IF WE DON’T ESPECIFY ANY SEGMENTATION BASE IN THE PROFILE GROUP, IT DOES RETURN RESULTS!!! (GO TO THE END OF THE DOCUMENT FOR DETAILS)
Steps followed:
Review Standard Infoset CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE (Transaction SQ02).Review Data Reading Program code: do we have to change the standard code? We have only remove the "BREAK-POINT" statement.
Creation of a Data source based on the standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset (Transaction CRMD_MKTDS).
Creation of an Attribute List based on that standard Data source and selection the Birth date as a filter in the Attribute list (Transaction CRMD_MKTDS).
On the segment builder of the WebUI set any filter (Example: “TODAY”).

Count target group. Here I would like to stand out that once you click on the “Count” option, immediately it shows 0 results. In other words, it doesn’t process any information. With other attribute lists it takes some time to process, no matter the filter or the attribute list you use. However if we create a new Data source with data "Extraction from Query" (transaction RS02) based on this standard CRM_MKTTG_BP_BIRTHDATE Infoset and we test the functionality using transaction RSA3, IT DOES RETURN RESULTS (with “today” filter and other)! So it seems that the problem has to do with the segment builder, not the Infoset.
Result: it never return any results no matter the filter you specify.

It seems that the standard Infoset doesn’t work by itself with Segmentation Basis. Two SAP notes have been applied and a new Field Group has been added to the Infoset (in order to distint the Segmentation Base).

I need to load an InfoCube from an InfoSet - Is this possible in 2004s?

This question looks long, but it's really not. I'm just trying to give a lot of detail about the screens that I am seeing. Anyway, here goes:
I am in 2004s. I want to load an InfoCube from an InfoSet. I know that an InfoSet is just a view and does not physically store data, but recent documentation published by SAP seems to indicate that this is
possible in 2004s (There is a document called "Developer Guide - 2004s" that says the following:
"InfoSets are an additional, easily manageable data source for generic data extraction. They allow you to use logical databases of all SAP applications, table
joins, and further datasets as data sources for BI". )
So... that led me to believe an InfoSet could load an InfoCube. In other words, the InfoSet would be the source and the InfoCube would be the target. I am in RSA1, and I right-click on the cube that I want to be the target. I select the "Create Transformation" option from the context menu. In the "Create Transformation" screen that pops up, I enter "InfoCube" in the target object type field and the name of the InfoCube in the target name field. I enter "InfoSet" in the source object type field and the name of the InfoSet in the source name field.
I get a pop-up that says "Cannot generate proposal". I click the green arrow, and then I get an error message
that says "Transformation does not exist (see long text)".
When I click on the error message, I get the following information in the Performance Assistant:
"Transformation does not exist (see long text)
Message no. RSTRAN010
Diagnosis
The transformation specified by transformation ID , source and target , does not exist.
System Response
The system terminates processing."
Any help would be much appreciated! It seems like it must be possible to use an InfoSet as a source in a data load, or else it would not be an option in the "Create Transformation" screen. ????
I've also tried right-clicking on the cube and selecting "Create Data Transfer Process". I enter the same information on this screen: the types and names of the source and target. Then I get a pop-up that says "Source and target have not been linked with a transformationDo you want to generate a default transformation?". There are two buttons I can click: one labeled "Yes" and one labeled "Abbrechen". I choose "Yes", because I have no idea what "Abbrechen" means.
Then I get the same pop-up from before: "Cannot generate proposal". I hit the green arrow, and I'm back in the
"Create Data Transfer Process" screen. So... I'm stuck in an infinite loop of screens that I can't get out of.

I am wondering if it possible to manually create a node in RSA6 for the InfoSet. I tried it by doing the following:
I went to RSA6 and clicked on the white icon for "Create Node". I then entered the number "8", followed by the name of the InfoSet. (I entered an "8", because all our DataSources seem to start with an "8". I'm not sure why.)
The DataSource now shows up, but when I double-click on it, nothing happens. When I select it in the hierarchy and then click the icons for "Display" or "Change" or "Check", I just get an error message that says, "You have not selected any DataSources."
Also, do you know where I can get my hands on the white paper?

Webi base on BW query based on Infoset comes back with wrong values

Hello:
I have a Webi report on an OLAP Universe, on Bex Query.
The bex query is based on 1 INFOSET.
When I run the webi report the values that comes back a totally wrong values.
The correct results are not brought back.
When I do a test with crystal reports to the infoset, I can see the correct values. (I'm aware crystal uses different drivers).
The test is BW query designer, and crystal brings back proper values from Infoset based BW query.
Webi on Infoset based BW Query comes back with wrong data.
query is simple.
Pull in 3 attributes, 3 key figures, where componentkey = "111"
I get 36 rows in Crystal and 36 rows in Bex Analyzer, 36 rows in BW query designer (web analyzer).
I get many rows in webi (almost like a CARTENSIAN product).
I search a round this forum but still did not see a conclusive answer to this problem.
But I see another thread that several others faced this same issue without a resolution.
My environment.
BOE XI 3.1 SP2
No fix packs
SAP IK 3.1 SP2
HPUX-IA64

I am having a similar problem with an infoset based query.
I have created the BW infoset, and confirmed that the correct data is returned from the underlying infoproviders. A simple BW query on that infoset yields the same results.
Create the universe, and then the WEBI, and WEBI now shows hundreds of records where I expect 10. Data is being returned in WEBI that definitely shouldn't be there. It's almost like the restrictions applied in the characteristic restriction area of my BW query are being ignored, even if I include them in the WEBI query.

Can't see data in InfoSet

All,
I'm having an issue with several InfoSets that I created. When I first created the InfoSets I was able to view data with not problem. But now that I've loaded some new data and in some cases completely reloaded all of the data to my InfoProviders, I'm getting a warning saying:
     The data from the InfoProvider NAPM_IS05 involved could not be checked
     Message no. DBMAN242
     Diagnosis
     A participating InfoProvider is virtual and aggreement between results and selections cannot be guaranteed.
As a result I can't see any data in my InfoSet even though I know there is active data in my InfoProviders. This particular InfoSet contains 2 InfoCubes. I've searched around and there are others with this same issue, but I haven't found a solution yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

"The data from the participating information provider could not be verified." and the long text: "A participating provider information is virtual, an agreement of the results with the selections can not be guaranteed." appears in the application, which is not desired, as it is typed as an information and should be suppressed.

Query on Infoset

Hi,
If you can see the data of an InfoSet in listcube, it should come up in report as well.
Please try to execute the query thru RSRT (T Code) and see what is happening. You may find the cause there.

Master data is not getting enabled in the InfoSet.

Hi Experts,
I have 3 DSOs in an InfoSet and I have also brought 2 Master data infoobjects in this infoset.
The master data check box in the infoset is not enabled and also not getting displayed in the Query Designer.
Can anyone please let me know how do I bring the master data in the query???
Also please advice me whether I should have only 3 DSOs in the infoset.

In my DSO I have an InfoObject called Emp No. in the Data Field.
The Emp.No is being maintained as master with (Emp Name, Address, Telephone No, DOB) as attributes.
I have loaded the data in the Emp. No master. Then tried loading the transaction data in DSO.
The Emp.No is there in the DSO active data, but in the query designer its not getting displayed.

      Infocubes?ODS?Multiprovider?Infoset?
In our design stage we had no problem creating ODS and Cube's but as our requirements kept changing we had to create Infosets rather than Multicubes as we were not having common fields between Cube and ODS. Secondly we couldn't have cubes as Infosets are built between ODS and Infoobjects.
      Can someone throw some light on the performance issues based on our current design were we have ODS and Infosets built. What are the pros and cons between
1) InfoCubes and ODS
2) MultiCubes and Infosets
      Any kind of thoughts would be of great help in our analysis.

We has the same requirements ...and had to build a lot of info sets ....
Reporting on any of the Navigational Attributes is NOT possible on an Info Set.
Go to RSRT and look on what fields on which the query is doing a Sequential read...if required try to build indexes on that fields.
In some cases we cannot restrict the queries ...if you are queering on yearly reports ...running against InfoSet's is not at all recommended......
For better performance of your queries try to build secondary indexes and as far as possible try to avoid InfoSet ....BW 3.5 has ADP try to workout something on that if u are on 3.5.
For performance try to compress your request in your cubes on your BP.

InfoSet to DSO Transformation

Hi all,
I am trying to transfer data from an infoset to a DSO, the infoset is composed of a DSO and an InfoObject, and data from the DSO shows up but data from the InfoObject does not show up in the final DSO
My infoset which combines these two:
DSO: Sales Transaction data
Key field: Transaction id
Data fields: Material ID, Price of material , Sales Quantity, etc
InfoObject: Material Id
Attributes: MAterial Manufacturing Cost
Now I want to calculte Profit, and I am trying to integrate the data from these two and store in in ProfitDSO
So I created my Infoset with these 2, and mapped Material Id (from the sales Transaction Data DSO) to the material ID key (in the materialId infobject).
Then I created a transformtion from my Infoset to a new dso storing the transacion id, material id, price, sales quant, cost of manufacturing.
Upon running the transformation, the coz of manufacture is showing up as 0.00 for all the fields.
EDIT: Data when I query the InfoSet is not showing up either. So it is an issue with the Infoset.
Is t because I have linked my DSO and IO with MaterialId, which is not a keyfield for the DSO?
Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi All,
The problem has been solved. Actually I had forgotten to Activate the Master Data after making changes to the Master Data Table (in which I had included the Manucost) .
I was of the opinion that once master data is activated, one does not need to activate it again after making changes, as the tables are created in the first activation itself.
Also, on using "Maintain Master Data" it shows the new data, not the activated master data for InfoObjects. Whereas for DSOs, using "Display Data" it shows the Active data. That caused my assumption that it shows the Active data for InfoObjects too and hence this problem.

InfoSet in SAP BI 7.10 and Key figure aggregation

I am new in SAP BI area. I have my first problem.
I want to create a report for the profit of goods.
The cost of goods(cogs) are constant for each material for one month.
The formula to calculate the profit of goods = sales turn over u2013 cogs of month *sales amount.
I have defined in BW time dependent infoObejct with attribute cogs.
I have 2 info Sources. InfoCube for transactional sales data from R/3 and material cogs master data loaded from csv file each month to infoObject.
The info Provider for report is InfoSet (transactional Cube and cogs infoObject) .
My problems are
1) When I create an InfoSet, SAP BW create automatically new technical name for all characteristics and key figures and the first technical name should be alias fr each InfoCube and InfoObject in the InfoSet.
2) The new technical name infoSet erased my aggregation references characteristic (=calmonth)
3) In the report the key figure cogs was aggregated for each customer sales and customers, that means the value of cogs is not constant, when it is aggregated according to customer sales order.

Infoset Creation in BI 7.0 with 2cubes , 1 DSO and a Master Data oBjects

I have a requirement:
To get the Work Order Activity from PM, and their corresponding Work Order numbers, Cost Centers and the Amounts associated from CO module like CCA and WBS6 datasources.
I thought about this solution:
Link the 0PM_C03 with the MD- 0PM_ORDER as a left outer join
and inner join 0PM_C03 with ZTXN_O01 - DSO(based on 0CCA9DSO) and Innerjoin to the ZWBS_C20 .
Is it ok to include 2 infocubes ,1 DSO and 1 MD object in an Infoset. Performance may be worst.. but i cannot think of any other solution.........
Multiprovider does not solve my purpose as it gives 2 records when you identify Work Order number in PM and CO modules. By using an Infoset we can link WO in PM to WO in CO.

Hi Bala,
Typically PM data sources are very high volume. Using InfoSets can lead to serious performance issues, as well as duplicates (especially for time dependant objects).
Have you tried using the Analysis Process Designer. There is some ways that you can filter data and have a better performance based on your selection criteria.

BI 7.0 Infoset - Infocube - Left outer join - query

A infoset contain Infocube and ODS, linked with left outer join, common fields are PO,PO item. PO account assignment ODS have three keyfields: PO Doc.,Item,account Assignment .

The issue was that amount gets duplicated. It only occurs if PO has more than one account assignment.
In report, we want show like this

Hi,
did you solve your problem? because I have the same issue right now: the left outer join doesn't seem to do its job.
