InfoSpoke and Process Chain

Hi Everybody,
I would like to create my first Process chain..
I would like to start the loading in a InfoCube ( InfoPackage )and after that when this loading ready is I want to export its Information in a File on the application Server (InfoSpoke)....
Does somebody can help me in achieving this first sample..

Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is local machine database [NOT Flatfile]

Hi vijay,
First you create an Infospoke with destination as a DB table in your local BI or BW Machine. Now add this infospoke by going through below steps.
1. Call up the process chain maintenance. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Chain Maintenance from the Administrator Workbench toolbar. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
2. In the left-hand screen area of the required This graphic is explained in the accompanying text display component, navigate to the process chain in which you want to insert your InfoSpoke. Double-click to select it. The system displays the process chain plan view in the right-hand side of the screen.
If no suitable process chain is available, you need to create a new process chain. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.
3. To insert a process for extraction by means of an InfoSpoke, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Types in the left-hand area of the screen. The system now displays the process categories available.
4.In the process category Loading Process and Post Processing, choose the application process type This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Data Export into External Systems.
5.Insert the Data Export into External Systems application type with Drag&Drop into the process chain. The dialog box for inserting a process variant appears.
6.In the Process Variant field, enter the name of the InfoSpoke that you want to include in the process chain, or select it by means of the input help.
Once You have added the infospoke you have to write a program which will fetch the database table that you filled and transfer the data fetched to other legacy system with the help of XI System

Triggering Process chain based on execution of R3 job and Process Chain

Hi All,
I need your help in arriving at a solution for a reqirement.
Scenario is., I need to trigger a process chain B based on successful execution of Process chain A and an R3 job. If both conditions(Completion of R3 job and Process Chain A) are met then only it has to trigger process Chain B.
I know that we can use events to trigger a process chain using R3 job.But my case is differenet I need to consider the success message from both process chain and R3 job.Is there any way to solve it ?
Please provide me with your valuable inputs.

You can use the 'AND' variant for both, If both are success then trigger the process chain.

Back ground processes, dialogue processes and Process chains

Hai all,
I am going through making process chains and I am struck with one thing:
"How many background process chains and dialogue processes you have during run time"
This is the problem. I understood everything else except this.The concept says that I have to know what is the capacity of the system, how many background and dialogue processes it could accomodate, how many are left and how many you can use for your process chain.How do we find out this? and could somebody please explain me or refer to documentation about the Back ground processes, dialogue processes and Process chains.

Hi Visu,
You can see the number of dialog and background processes by using transaction SM51 and then double clicking on the server (we only have one but it may be different for each). Our BASIS folks take care of the number of processes as well. And, for us we have a schedule that changes the number at a certain time of day because you tend to need more dialog during the day but more batch at night.
The transaction to look at and change the settings is RZ03. Then use the menu path Edit->Operation Modes you can select either Configuration or Timetable here. Both give information in different ways. I tend to double click around to see what it might tell me.

Differences Between Infopackage Groups and Process chains

Can anybody explain me what are the differences between Infopackage Groups and Process Chains ? And how process chains are more comfortable

An InfoPackage group is a collection of InfoPackages. In order to summarize data requests which logically belong together from a business point of view, and to therefore simplify the request, you can collect data requests (meaning the InfoPackages) into an InfoPackage Group. You can schedule each of these groups in the scheduler . With the data request the scheduler can access InfoPackage groups directly and thereby request more than one InfoPackage at a time, corresponding to the setting in the InfoPackage group. Thus, you can support InfoPackage groups with the serialization of your data requests.
While a process chain is a sequence of processes that wait in the background for an event. Some of these processes trigger a separate event that can start other processes in turn. hit this link to know abt PCs:

Process chains are more comfortable becoz itz not like infopackages where we have to schedule each pack individually. And in PCs, monitoring is very convenient since u see evrything in a single page.

How to schedule infospokes in process chains..

Hi All,
I have a few infospokes to be scheduled in a process chain. In each infospoke, I have upto 10 jobs that are to be scheduled one after the other. At the end of these jobs I have to run a FTP script. I am new at creating the process chains. So can anybody help me out in letting me know:
1. How to create a start process where I can select a given job by using its name
2. How to run a FTP script as a follow up step on completion of a previous step.

it a big task to explain all so I will try to give you the high level picture.
1. process chain is easy to implement and learn.
   usually it is triggered either by a batch job or a
   batch job that fires an event.
2. to call an OS (like Win or Unix) from the PC you can
   trigger an event from the end of the PC to call a
   ABAP program that will initiate an OS call.
   you use trx: SM69   - External Operating Sys Commands
   to set this call up.
3. to implement an FTP you can do via a batch file with
   OS commands or by using free utilities (there are many of them).

Questions on Multiprovider and Process Chain

Hai All,
          I have two questions. One on Multiprovider and the other on Process chain.
1. Multiprovider:
          For example, I have 2 ODSs. ODS1 has Objects ORDER NUMBER, COUNTRY and PRODUCT, ODS2 has objects ORDER NUMBER, DELIVERY STATUS, CREATION DATE.
Now if I make a multiprovider on ODS1 and ODS2, then as ORDER NUMBER is common in both the ODSs, can I make a report like this:
ORDER NUMBER - DELIVERY STATUS, CREATION DATE?
         I have a problem here bacuase its not getting those details from the other ODS even though the ORDER NUMBER(value) is same. Am I making nay mistake or is it a system problem.
I beleive thats how a Multiprovider works.
2. Process chain:
                I have an END connector in my process chain that connects 3 processes and lets the following task start only after the success of all the above 3 processes.
The system is displaying the END connector seperately under each process. But the name and everything else is same. Is this a setting somewhere in the process chain?

1. Those fields are in ODS2, you don't need to make a multiprovider.
2. You mean an AND connector. Maybe you need to refresh the screen. if this doesn't work, delete the three and connectors and insert a new one.

Data Manager Packeage and Process chain si not working

Hi All,
I executed a data manager package which contain a process chain to revaluate the one of my Account dimension meneber Say "Revenue". I am working on BPC NW 7.0
steps I followed:
1. I created a script logic file and created a custom process chain.
process chain steps:
a) Start variant
b) Modify dynamically
c) Run Logic
d) Or and Clear BPC tables
2. This process chain was included in data manager package.
3. Data manager package was modyfied to include parameters and scipt logic file name.
4. executed data package
The issue is " when I execute Data manager Package" I dont get any error but when I View status I dont see any pachage running or completed. If I see Process chain, It is failing at first step of Modify dynamically..no clue?
Could you please let me know what could be a issue?

I encounter this problem, Do this Steps:
I. First,check if your process chain is existing in the Library.
II.If yes,follow the steps below:
1. Edata - organize Package - Modify your Package.
2.Check if you had the correct process chain.
3.IF yes, Click View package at its right side.
4.Expand the Task Folder and take note of the Task Name (e.g. ZBPC_PROT_RUN_LOGIC)
5.click Advance,Compare the task name that you noted in the syntax TASKS
(e.g. TASK(ZBPC_PROT_CF_RUN_LOGIC,SUSER,%USER%)
6. It should be the same.
Running package but not appearing any status happens when the system cannot find your process chain.

Delta loading and Process chain BI

Hi experts,
Two Issues.
1)As i am loading FI data into dso through a process chain which includes Start process>Delta infopackage(which gets data upto psa)>Delta dtp-->Datastore activation.
But infopackage is picking up deltas but DTP is picking up all the previous records plus deltas.
100 records -- 1st day throught Intialization of Delta with Data Transfer
2 delta records -- 2nd day
But DTP is picking up 102 Records on the 2nd Day, which means it is also picking the old records as well.
The DSO must have just 102 records but it is having 202 records.
2) A process chain in running daily as scheduled , but I rescheduled with new scheduling options without deactivating the Process chain.
My Question is
Will the Process chain run for the OLD and the New Schedule or
Is it going to run for new schedule or old one?
or
will I face any Problem because I did not deactivate and made changes to the Change.
Please help me in this matter.

First query:
I believe that u have used FUll update type DTP is instead of the Delta DTP.. Please cross check the Update mode of the DTP once.
To resolve this issue, delete the total content of the DSO as u have Init and delta loads in PSA. And then using the Delta DTP of the Process chain, load the data. It will extract the total cotent what ever is there in PSA, and later the same DTP will act as the Delta type and will pick the data from the New request of the PSA.
Second Query:
Its always suggested to deschedule the process chain before changing the schedule timings. When ever u do this type of scheduling, just check how many number of JObs available in Schedule mode, if u can see more than one, then delete the older one and keep the new one as it is.
But I always suggest you to deschedule the process chain and reschedule PC with the new timings and then activate the same.

Reporting Agent and Process chain

We have requirement where every day we need to print some BW reports.
For this we have created reporting agent. But when we execute reports manually through reporting agent it works fine. But if we include reporting agent in process chain it does not work.
Is there something which we should take care of when we include reporting agent in Process chain? We are on version 3.1.

BIA and process chain

Hi Gurus
Would you please advise the steps I have to follow on BW side to make BIA starts working?
Can I use process chain to include the functionality of BIA? Also as I know we have to create one Index per cube for BIA. Do we need to fill them manually of when we load cube its going to be filled in automatically?
Do we need to delete the BIA index and recreate it when we load data to the same cube again?
Do we need to do some settings on BEx analyser for query which we run to execute through BIA?

1)if you drop the InfoCube the BIA index should be dropped automatically.
This means you have to re-build the InfoCube BIA index.
Process type -Initial Activation and Filling of BIA Indexes can be used as of SP-13.
2)Program - RSDDTREX_AGGREGATES_FILL
When you execute this step, the system starts a process in the background that reads the data in the tables of the InfoCube star schema from the database and writes them to the corresponding indexes on the BI accelerator server. If the index of a master data table (S/X/Y tables) has already been created and filled by another BI accelerator index, only those records that have been subsequently added have to be indexed (read mode/fill mode "D" during indexing).
If the aggregate was filled successfully, the status in the "Object Status" column on the Index Info tab page switches to GREEN

Infopackage and process chain status

Hello expert,
I am new in BW technology and I need some help...
Well I have created a process chain in order to load data into infoprovider. This process chain is running everyday in production system, (it's a tipical PC: delete PSA request, run infopackage, run DTP....)
I have checked the last status of the process chain and it's yellow since two days ago... It was due a communication error between ERP and BW system, therefore (for some reason), the infopackages started but never ended (always yellow status).
So, my questions are:
1.- Is there any configuration for the infopackage to prevent yellow status (for more than X time)?
2.- Could we control it in a process chain?

Hi,
We can configure for infopackage incase of no records found however you can setup for time linmit.
You can set the status the request is to receive per InfoPackage in the Scheduler, via Scheduler Warning Handling. This setting overrides the system-wide setting.

Hi Venkata,
For attribute changerun,
It's used after you change (add/delete/modify) attribute in the master data. You've to make it in order to have an effect after you modify it.
To get it :
1. tcode : RSA1.
2. Tools -> Apply Hierarchy/Attribute Change
3. tap on Info-object list button (checking what master data you've modified before).
4. tap on selection button for type of job
5. Execute.

For process chain,
Using this you can make a flow of process sequentially.
e.g.
the flow :
1. generate program YWS001
2. get the data from table zcrm001
3. load data to ods : zods_001
