Hi,
Archive Information System (or) Information Structure (or) Info Structure:
The Archive Information System (AS) is a generic tool for indexing data archives and is fully integrated into the SAP Data Archiving environment. The indexes created with this tool, which are called Archive Information Structures, are used to display archived data.
The archive information system includes the following components:
Archive Retrieval Configurator (ARC)
The ARC enables you to create archive information structures with the help of field catalogs, and to fill the structures with data from the archive. The archive information structure, which represents a kind of archive index, provides the basis for archive data reporting.
Archive Explorer
The Archive Explorer enables fast searches of archived data. It does this by accessing the archive information structures that have been created and stored in transparent database tables using the Archive Retrieval Configurator.Furthermore, the Archive Explorer allows direct accesses of individual data objects in the archive, which can then be displayed in both technical and application-specific views.
Process Flow
Check available information structures
First you should check if an information structure already exists that you could use for reporting. You can then change this information structure to suit your needs. If there is no information structure available that you can use, you can create a new one.
Create the information structure
You define the information structure to be used for archive reporting. In doing this, you specify which source fields from the archive are copied to which fields in the information structure. You do this with the help of application-specific field catalogs, which are included in the features of the Archive Information System.
An information structure is only ever valid for one archiving object. Several information structures can be defined for one archiving object. For more information, see Creating Information Structures
Activate the Information Structure
After you have created an information structure, you need to activate it. Alternatively you can use a standard information structure, provided that it fits your requirements.
At this stage, the system generates a transparent database table and the reporting program. For more information, see Activating Information Structures
Fill the Information Structure
During an archiving delete run all (activated) archive information structures belonging to an archiving object are filled automatically. Also the Archive Development Kit (ADK) transfers all data records found in the archive to the AS interface. From the defined infostructure, the AS filters the data from the data records transferred and enters it in a transparent database table together with an access key. This table serves as the basis for later searches.
As well as the automatic fill using the delete program, an information structure can also be filled later for already available archives. This can be useful if you want to report data that was already archived or if you have changed the fields of an information structure. For more information, see Filling Information Structures.
Report Information Structures
Use the Archive Explorer function to specify the archiving object and the information structure from which you want to report. In the selection screen, where necessary, specify the display parameters for the archived data. Select a data object from the list of data objects and, where possible, specify the view in which it is to be displayed. For more information, see Reporting Information Structures.
As well as standard reporting, there is also a special ad-hoc reporting function available that enables direct reporting from archives. Here, there is no need to fill the archive information structure with data from the archive.

  • Creating a new Infostructure in archiving for Object PM_ORDER

    Hi Guru's,
The SAP standard infostructures used when archiving PM Orders do not include 'Order Type'. I have created a new Z infostructure and included the Order Type in the field catalog and new infostructure but it doesn't get populated at the point of archiving. Does anyone know why not ? or how I can fix this ?

    Hi Ben,
Has your custom archive infostructure been activated?  Also, the infostructure gets populated during the delete phase of the archiving process, not the write phase.  Have you tried manually filling the structure?  If so, what does the joblog show?  Does the tablespace the infostructure is in have enough space?
These are some things to check.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Karin Tillotson

  • Error while maintaining the Update Rules for the Infostructure

    Hi,
I have added 2 new characteristics for the existing infostructure S9xx and executed the same. While maintaining the Update Rules for the same, system is giving the error message 1. "Field 'PARVW' unknown" and 2. Error generating program RMCX0011.

  • How to use standard Infostructures for SIS Reports

Now I see many available standard info structures in the infostructures list.Is there any way we can use the standard ones in the repoirts without the need to create infostructures??
    or there any other alternative???

Sam, actually  SNavaneetha has already answered your question correctly. You don't need to create any new info structures and may use the standard ones. You just need to configure the update according to the business requirements. But since you keep asking about configuring "the reports" I think you might be a bit confused. For the standard info structures we only need to configure the update. Each info structure already has its own report (you'll find them on the SAP menu). If you run MCSI transaction, you won't find any standard info structures on the list because this transaction is for the custom ones.
You might want to read the documentation, it's not that long and I think the steps are explained rather well:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/8c/fd5878a94711d1890a0000e8322f70/frameset.htm
From "my" document you'll only neeed these steps:
Assign Update Group at Item/Header Level (p.12)
Maintain and Assign Statistics Groups (p.13) - no need to create any new groups, use standard 1 and 2
Then make sure the update is activated in transaction OMO1. Note that the info structures will start to fill in only after you do the configuration. If you need to populate the data from the existing documents, follow the instructions starting on p.32.

That's the beauty of having the option to debug a program. Wondering how SAP reads the data fast: go debug!

  • Emptying archive infostructure: report AS_AINDDEL_DATE

    Dear all,
In order to delete the infostructures from object  MM_MATBEL, I use the report AS_AINDDEL_DATE.
The program is run in background.
However the program run for 100 hours for one year and for 10 hours for one archiving run (one date).
Archiving started on 2002 and this is the first time we are trying to delete infostructures.
Did you already have performance problems while emptying infostructures ?
    Best regards,

I am not sure why you want to empty the info structures, but if i want to empty the info structures then i would use tcode SARI-->Status-->status per info structure-->delete info structures. This would be much faster to empty the info structures.
AS_AINDDEL_DATE this report is slow because it has to get the specific date and get to delete the archived information from the structures. You can use this report only if you have a requirement to delete the info structures for a particular date.

  • Infostructures or VendorManagedInventory (VMI)?

    hi sd-experts,
we plan to do a project like VMI (Vendor managed inventory) of SAP. I got the information that there is an other way to manage the inventory of the customer by me (the vendor). This is called InfoStructures (TX MC21).
But what is the difference? is it possible to use Infostructures for that? we plan also to get the information about the customer stock about EDI, but i didn't get any information how can i use for infosources!!
For VMI i will have PROACT (from help.sap.com).
    ii am confused...
is there anyone who can help me?
    cheers,
    alex

You might have misunderstood SAP Help - it's not "another way". There is one infostructure S130, which is involved in the VMI process. It is a standard infostructure, created and maintained by SAP, you don't need to do anything about it.
The infostructures are also used in SIS/LIS, but it is not related to VMI.

  • Data Archiving - Use of AS_API_READ versus Select from Infostructure

    Hello,
I am archive enabling a custom program. Custom infostructures have been set up with the fields needed for initial selection criteria.  This was done in order to join infostructure tables in a select statement and get a results set.  This will also allow execution of complex select statements directly against the infostructure table.
In reading the documentation for AS_API_READ, it mentions that reading the infostructure tables (ZARIX* tables)  directly is not desirable due to possible future changes.
If AS_API_READ is used with selection criteria for this program,  the result set would have to be filtered with additional code to meet the complex selection requirements.
I'm looking for some feedback/more detail on the risk of using a direct select instead of AS_API_READ.
    Thanks,
    Sue

  • Infostructure update routine : debug problem

    Hi All,
We have created three update routines for three corresponding infostructures. But I am not able to debug this routine. I tried to put a hard breakpoint also, but it was of no use. The Infostructure logs the changes in the sales order.
How can I get the list of objects that are accessible in these routines?
How can I view the values of MCVBAP and MCVBAK(communication structures) that are used in the update routines?
How can I debug such routines?
From where does these structures, MCVBAK and MCVBAP, get value? Are these runtime values? How much time does it take normally take for the infostructure to be updated? or is it updated immediately when the sales Order is saved?
    Thanks,
    Jiten

    Hello,
    some hopefully helpful answers:
    - the MCVBAK / MCVBAP are structures, that are built from the orderdata in the function MCV_STATISTICS_ORDER. There are two exits EXIT_SAPLMCS1_001 (header Data) and EXIT_SAPLMCS1_002 (position data) where you could fill additional user fields in these structures. Additional fields you could define in the structures MCVBAKUSR or MCVABPUSR.
    - the time that it takes to get an infostructure updates depends on it's customizing of updating (transaction OM01). the possibilities are: no update, update in V1-posting, update in V2-posting, update in batch.
    - Helpful are folling transactions: MC30 ( shows the update logs, you have to set the parameter MCL = 'X' in your userdate, see OSS - Note 77427) , MCVR (simulation of update).

  • Problem filling Arch infostructure for COPA2_S001 - field catalog?

I'm not sure I'm posting this ti the correct forum, but I'll give it a try.
Archivingobject COPA2_S001 is used to archive Copa data (account based CoPa). As the profitability analysis archiving objects depend on the operating concern (generated by the customer), and must also be generated, no appropriate information structures or field catalogs can be delivered as standard with the Archive Information System (SAP AS). You must create these yourself.
This was set up by somenone in the pst, but the Infostructue (the table cretaed for it) stays empty.
The Infostructure is activated, the archiving process shows no errors and even the status info from the AIS shows only green lights!
My guess that the field catalog which was set up is not correct.
Can anyone give my some info how to be sure what the cause, how to solve it and how to fill the AIS without starting a new archiving run.
    Thanks in advance!

  • SIS Infostructure show duplicate records after running oli7, oli8, oli9

    Hi,
I ran oli7, oli8, oli9 on my relevant sales documents as some infostructure were not getting update. i selected the sales document for specific dates and then enter those document start and end number in these Tcodes.
lets say : old data in sis infostrctre was for dates 01-Jan-10  to 08-Jan-10
data missing for days:  08-Jan-10 to 16-Jan-10  (some of documents from 8th Jan was missing)
now when i ran it on documents for dates 8-Jan-10 to 116-Jan-10, the data in that info structure was duplicated for date 8-Jan-10 (meaning that all previous data which was already in that info structure was duplicated).
Can any1 pls guide me how to eradicate that error.
    Thanks.

with olix we deleted the version of update which we created through oli7,oli8 & oli9. and then reexecuted the update tcode with correct date options...thus the problem was resolved.
