  • Nokia Infrared connectivity problem

Hi, I newly bought a Nokia 5070 cellphone and was trying to connect it with my laptop - a macbook pro. I'm running Windows XP through boot camp and I installed the PC suit to connect my Nokia phone. Btw, I have Infrared on my macbook; I could use my IR remote control with Front Row. However, I couldn't connect.
I opened the Connection Manager, the Infrared option checkbox was unchecked. When I clicked on it, a message says "Cannot use connection type. Check all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available. (OpenMedia)" pops up.
Also, I read the FAQ section of something about change frequency from "Wireless Link" in "Control Panel", but I can't find the "Wireless Link" button/icon/shortcut or whatever.
Anybody please help! It's been very frustrating. T_T Thank you very much in advance.

The G in the top of the screen means that the phone is registered to a GPRS network. The connection is not on (connection is not established) until the G is inside a box.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
    Now using the Lumia 1520

Eventually, PCSuite will complete the connection setup, but when I go to Store Images and click Select Phone it either doens't list the phone or, if it does, I select it but the ok is not activated so can't proceed - evenutally the phone disappears from the list and I start over... I've also tried copying files and backing up, but the connection always goes. Please help! I've been trying to do this for days! Really don't want to lose my images (pic's of kids, you know).

if that did not help, could you send PC Suite's system info?

    - Make sure that your PC has the required infrared hardware installed.
    - Make sure that you have activated infrared on both your PC and your phone. For more information, refer to the manuals for your phone and PC.
    - Make sure that your PC and phone use the same infrared speed. To adjust the connection speed, go to Control Panel > Wireless Link > Hardware > Properties > Advanced. In the property list, select Maximum Connect rate and change the rate. For more information, refer to your PC manual.
    - For Symbian phones:
    - To be able to connect your phone to the PC via infrared, make sure that you have selected to use the infrared connection type on your phone. For more information, refer to your phone manual.
    - To be able to connect to the Internet using infrared, make sure that you have selected to use the infrared modem on your phone. For more information, refer to your phone manual.
    - Restart both PC and the phone and try to create the connection again.

  • PC Suite says no phone connected, but working

After updating to 6.82.22 (from 6.78) I couldn't connect to my 6233 via Bluetooth (Widcomm 4.01.700). It hang's after entering authorization code on the phone. I uninstalled PC suite, used PC Suite cleaner and rebooted. After installing from the scratch I could complete the pairing process. After next reboot PC Suite says "no phone connected", no cable driver installed, no supported BTstack found - but every component of PC Suite is working and I have full access to the phone. OS: Win2k Server SP4, BTstack: Widcomm 4.01.700 PC Suite 6.82.22

Yes - thanks. Now it says connected and gives the BTstack Version in system information. Seems to be a problem with startup, even if the BT tray icon launch up before PC Suite and PC Suite seems to be the last to launch.

  • N95 - Infrared Process Runs in Background Flatteni...

After running the infrared to sync Outlook and removing the phone it eventyally stopps the infrared connection (well so it would seam untill)... The N95 then continues to heat up and eventually flattens the battery. I can only presume that the infrared process is not fully turning off.
Is there a way to stop the infrared process without re-booting the phone?
Hopefully this will be fixed in a new firmware version that gets authorised by Orange in the UK.
    Phone: N95
    FirmW: 10.0.0.18
    Supplier: Orange UK

Discussing things like that is not allowed here, and yes, it will void both the Nokia warranty and any guarantee with Orange...
Infra-red has never had an "off" switch or anything on Nokia phones, on any of the phones, it's always active for about 10-15 seconds before it switches itself off.

  • PC Suite not recognising any connection

Having recently updated to the newer model 6120c from my previous 6230i I reinstalled PC Suite for ease of transferring data from my PC to my handset but have found that when I reach the 'Get Connected' page of the installation where it asks me to 'Select the connection type' I have no options active at all and when I make certain that the phone is connected to the cable which is fully plugged into a USB port it still will not show any active options for me to select from. I had no problems connecting the previous 6230i via the cable connection and am currently at a loss on how to solve this issue. It may be with the limited amount of services that I have running that I may have inadvertantly turned off an essential service that is required to have PC Suite running. Or maybe it could be that I have a selective start up, but upon investigating the system config utility I do note that there is a launch application checked for a Nokia service to start up so at this point I am open to any helpful suggestions that may assist in the solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

I have a problem with PC suite; it doesn’t allow me to connect to my Nokia N95 and maybe my other Nokia phones; as the get connected wizard shows three greyed out options. These options are Cable connection, Infrared connection and Bluetooth connection. These are found under the select connection type. I have already un and then reinstalled three times, tried to repair the installation and installed the drivers separately. The previous 7.0 version worked fine, but by updating I can no longer connect my phone through PC suite mode. Data transfer, image print and media player work fine. The USB symbol does appear on top of the phone screen, but still no phone connected.
When I click on ‘click here to connect a phone’ a
    Menu pops up:
Get Connected - Troubleshoot Titled  Problems with Infrared connection?  I don’t even have infrared or Bluetooth on my laptop.
The computer does however make a noise to show that something has been connected to the laptop, “tun-nuh” when I connect via PC suit mode.
When I click on one touch access, it says no phones connected, there are no Nokia modems installed, make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver software. Settings spanner icon, Select modem, and from here I can chose Nokia N95 USB Modem, and then my network operator.
Sometimes when I connect the phone, it says the USB device is not recognised and has malfunctioned. But, when I continue to replug into the different sockets; it starts to install new device found Nokia N95, phone parent, sync-ml… until it finally says your new device is ready.
Please do help, if you can.
    Thank you!

  • Pcsuite does not recognise connected 6230

I have a 6230 connected via infrared. I have confirmed connection via wireless link at 115.20 kbs but when I try to establish connection to PC suite it enters the connection wizard and gets stuck in the "Activate infrared connection" window. I encountered a similar problem in the following topic: Discussions Main Page > PC Suite > Help me Nokia 6111 Pc suite not working but the solutions posted there did not work.(I repaired the pc suite intallation and restarted. I was not able to do the other 2 solution) I am using: Nokia 6230 Windows Xp Pc Suite 6.82.22.0 Thank you very much I.

I had a similar problem a while back. I think it was to do with the infrared connection speed - basically I reduced the connection speed and it started working. Unfortunately my current laptop doesn't have infrared so I can't check this.

I'm using Nokia PC Suite 6.80.22 on a Fujitsu laptop (Windows Vista). This is the technical stack:

I have problems while trying to connect to my phone via Bluetooth. It shows the following error: Cannot use the connection type.
In the PC Suite I go to Manage Conections and I see two bluetooth interfaces:
    - Bluetooth(Microsoft) THIS IS ENABLED
    - Bluetooth(Toshiba)
When I try to disable the Microsoft driver and enable the Toshiba driver it show the error: CANOT USE THE CONNECTION TYPE (CODE: OPENMEDIA)
Any ideas will be highly appretiated!

  • IRD connectivity, Nokia 5070

I have an issue whith the infrared connectivity of my Nokia 5070.
My computer detects the device properly and I can even transfer files TO the phone using the Windows XP infrared application.
Yet when I try to download files FROM the device, the nokia's software is not able to detect any phone.
Nokia PC Suite v. 6.89.9.3: when attempting to connect via IRD, after a while of "process" an error message is displayed, asking the user to check if the IRD in the PC and device are active, or set the speed to minimum.
Nokia PC Suite v. 7.0.9.2: when attempting to connect via IRD, no process occurs. A screen titled "Connection setup complete" is immediately shown. "you have now the following connections available" is read above a field where the connected devices should be showing, but this field is empty.
Can anyone help me with this?
    It would be greatly appreciated!

Hi xdivarius. I have similar HW: Palm IIIxe (old!!!) and a Nokia 5070b. An external USB-IrDa adapter on my PC with a SF-620 chip/driver. As you probably know, there are some USB devices that really work over serial connections. The USB CA-42 Nokia cable, to connect 5070 via usb, is an example. So first of all, check your Com ports speed and to be free from other applications/devices. In fact, you should exit from Palm´s HotSync. Update your IR device driver. Update your PC Suite version. I´m using spanish version of PC Suite v 6.85.14.1 (the last one) and it´s working fine. Even more, I installed a modem driver for 5070 from:
http://ds.my-mam.com/ModemSetup/ModemSetup_USB_V95.exe. This is a Mobile Action site. So I have Nokia 5070b connection with data backup, file manager, messges manager, picture manager, etc. I can connect to Internet via 5070 (very expensive for me...) I hope you can solve your issue. Good luck. Matias

  • 6233 how do i delete voice dialling tags?

    Hi everyone
I have just purchased a nokia 6233. I have found that it has automatically added a voice tag to each of my contacts. I can remove them from other functions like profiles but I cannont work out how to remove them from contacts.
does anyone know how to remove them from contacts?
    Ta
    Poppit

As far as i know with the 6233 which i own you cannot delete the voice tag on your contacts as the phone picks it up when you enter that contact if you want a different activation i would suggest changing the names (and remember who they are) and that would solve that problem but i don't think you can delete the tag as so much as change it.
