Infrastructure access point unreachable for management, but is passing traffic.
We have 2 aironet 1310 aps setup as infrastructure access points between 2 buildings. One went south on us & we placed it. Before the bad one went down, we were able to manage both remotely & could see them from the next device via CDP. Now, we can't connect or even ping either AP. And the weird part is that the switches that connected to each can see each other via CDP, but not the access points between them. I'm attaching the configuration. Before I make the 2.5 hour drive back to the site, does anyone have an idea on what I may have misconfigured on either or both access points?

Using several UMTS access points (APN) for different services
Hello,
I wonder if it is possible to use several UMTS access points (APN) for different services.
situation:
1) The iPhone is used for business AND private purposes.
2) The company's mobile telephone contract includes a APN, which is only usable by the employees' mobile phones.
problem / question:
Is it possible to define two access points in the iPhone, that for example the exchange account uses the company's APN, while all the other apps use the standard APN of the carrier?
Problem is, that some iPhone's benefits like Push-Messages are blocked by the carrier's APN. Now, I have to switch the access point by installing the appropriate profile every time I want to check my e-mails or vice versa for using "normal" apps.
I hope you can hep me.

MitchThanks for your help! This really helps a lot! We actually only want to replace the autonmous access point with the controller solution and make one WLAN available at another site. From what I can see, this is possible with our current solution - we just need to switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3 and purchase the corresponding amount of supported Access Points (I think we should be able to get some refurbished ones).
Am I correct in assuming that the Access Points we want to replace (AIR-AP1230B-E-K9 with 802.11b radio only) cannot be upgraded to lightweight ones? Since if I understood document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html correctly, this is not possible with access points that only have 802.11b radios.
Regarding the switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3: Do we really only need to perform the steps I described in my first post?
And one last question regarding REAP. As far as I understood this is only needed when local traffic needs to be maintained in case the connection to the WLC becomes unavailable. So we really don't need it if we want to access resources that are only available over the WLC?
Thanks again for your help!

Nokia E6 - Where is the Access point setting for Y...
I have my Nokia E6 configured for my Corporate Email, MfE and it works fine. In the settings for MfE, I see a setting for Access Point, where I choose Internet with Priority 1 as my Home WLAN and Priority 2 as my GPRS connection.
Then, I started to configure my private Yahoo mail, evertyhing is done, it works fine, but I do not see any settings for Access Point for the Yahoo mail..
Does this mean it picks up the settings from MfE???
Can any other NOkia E6 users or experts comment on this??Hi Stuart,
To answer your question:
There is no shared secret for the ACS itself.
If the ACS is going to communicate with another device, you have to define a AAA client and define a shared secret.
ACS 4, used that shared secret to protect/secure the replication, in ACS 5, the replication secured with encryption and not shared secrets(hash).

Wireless access point advice for SMB (5 users)
I have a small site, 12 employees, five of whom will need wireless access to the LAN.
This site has an 877 (not 877W) and so I need a wireless access point.
I've been looking at the Cisco Aironet 1130AG. Can anyone make a recommendation, something that will be the same or similar to configure as wireless services on the 800 series wireless routers.
There is no domain or radius server, so any user authentication will need to be handled by the AP.
Any useful information would be much appreciated.
Thanks
GarethYou're on the right track. The 1131AG is a great platform for small offices. It has built in antennas and is not offensive looking when mounted to the ceiling. Running a single 1131AG would allow you to run RADIUS locally on the AP so you could still use EAP security types such as EAP-FAST with WPA2.
Once you go to deploy, there are plenty of us here on the forum that can help if you run into config gotchas.
Of course I'll include the standard disclaimer that your coverage might vary based on the building construction, so you could need multiple APs to cover enough area. If certain coverage is absolutely mandatory, you should consider a site-survey beforehand.

Remote Access VPN connecting but not passing traffic
I have a remote access VPN configured on a device here. I'm able to connect a device and it assigns me an IP address out of the pool, and injects the routes to its local network, but I'm not able to pass any traffic through the VPN and none of the IPSec SA counters increment for the dial-in connection. I've compared the config here to the samples from documentation and I don't know what I'm missing. Config is below.

hello,
i am setting up a site to site vpn between two asa 5505's. the tunnel is up but i cannot get it to pass traffic and i have run out of ideas at this point. i am on site as i am posting this question and only have about 4 hours left to figure this out, so any help asap is greatly appreciated. i'll post the configs below along with the output of sh crypto isakmp sa and sh ipsec sa.
FYI the asa's are different versions, one is 9.2 the other is 8.2
Note: 1.1.1.1 = public ip for Site A 2.2.2.2 = public ip for site B

0x00000000 0x00000001Hi Keegan,
Your tunnel is up and encrypting traffic one way, the other end is not able to encrypt the traffic.
I would suggest to do a 'clear xlate'? Sometimes if you setup the nonat configuration after you've attempted other configurations, you need to 'clear xlate' before the previous NAT configuration is cleared and the new one works.

however when i go purchase the soft wear again. it say the product is in my cart but when i click on the cart its comes up with an error message saying either this page does not exist or a general error has occurred. WHY!
Olivettip I would recommend removing your current installation of Creative Cloud and Creative Suite 6 and reinstalling. It is likely the Adobe Application Manager and other components have been upgraded to support subscription only features and upgrades. If you wish to utilize your perpetual license then a complete removal and reinstall will ensure you have the applicable components for that version.

Cannot access Time Capsule for backup, but wi-fi is fine
Hi all,
from time to time, suddenly any Mac in my house is not able to connect to TimeCapsule, while wi-fi is working fine. I can access Airport utility and see and configure the hardware.
The only working solution is to switch off Time Capsule by unplugging power cable, then plug again.
Time Capsule wil allow again to reconnect and back up via time machine.
The log seems to show this message:
1) Nov 18 08:28:55 MacBookPro-wzm.local com.apple.backupd[11737]: Attempting to mount network destination URL: afp://Name%20Surname;AUTH=[email protected]/Data

All the machines are running Mountain Lion at latest version.Have you set up the TC with user accounts??
Most people just use the TC password..
I have done very little with user accounts on the TC.. it seems fundamentally wrong headed to me.. If you have a domain controller with everyone using accounts to login that is fine.. and the TC would then exist in connection to the domain controller.. but it is a home device and there is no function to all that.
What will happen if you change over to standard security or even turn on the guest account I am too scared to suggest as you may not easily get connection back again.. The TC certainly displays a warning going to accounts.. I am not sure of warnings going away from accounts.
If you didn't setup the TC, do you have admin access to it??
Perhaps I am assuming too much before you tell me everything. But I may suggest things you don't want to try.. unfortunately I cannot say this will work.. the issue is widespread across the Mountain Lion TC combo and I have yet to see Apple suggest a solution or even fess up there is a problem. Daily reboots are just simply now a part of the scene for all windows and Mac users.
Is the TC the main router for the network.. 1 hour is not default lease in the TC and very few people even know how to change it.. standard is 1day. I would consider 1hr adequately short for all arp tables to be kept up to date.. the computer should be seeking new lease at 30min.. ie half lease time.
If the TC is bridged an not controlling the network.. that can contribute to the issue.
Setting a static IP on the TC if it is bridged my help. -
Access Point configuration for flat network
We have recently aquired a remote location which has a pre-existing flat network (172.16.X.X/16). Before we are able to convert them over to our new IP scheme, they have a need to have wireless connectivity on site. We have 4 1142's which I need to configure for them. I have experience configuring WLC's and autonomous AP's for networks with multiple vlans but have never configured AP's for a flat, single subnet network. I need to configure them for either guest access (internet only) or corporate access to network resources with radius authentication. Do I configure a native vlan as I would for a typical multi vlan network? Do I configure the switch port as an access port as opposed to a trunk beacause of the lack of layer 3? I basically need a sample configuration for this situation.
since you are on flat network, you just need to configure the SSID, no need for subinterfaces. With the AP only servicing the one VLAN you can leave the port as an access port as well.
as they are on the only subnet, I wouldn't do a 'guest' SSID. I would go with just the corporate SSID with WPA2/AES/802.1x. So the config is exactly the same for the RADIUS server and the SSID, but greatly simplified since you don't have to sub-interface anything.

Cisco ASA 5505 Site to Site VPN tunnel up, but not passing traffic
Thanks to a previous thread, I do have a 5505 up and running, and passing data....
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3900751
Now I am trying to get a IPSEC VPN tunnel working.
I actually have it up (IKE phase 1 & 2 both passed), but it is not sending/receiving data through the tunnel.
The networks concerned:
name 10.0.0.0 Eventual (HQ Site behind Firewall)
name 1.1.1.0 CFS (Public Network Gateway for Palo Alto Firewall - Firewall IP: 1.1.1.1)
name 2.2.2.0 T1 (Remote site - Outside interface of 5505: 2.2.2.2)
name 10.209.0.0 Local (Remote Network - internal interface of 5505: 10.209.0.3)
On a ping to the HQ network from behind the ASA, I get....
portmap translation creation failed for icmp src inside:10.209.0.9 dst inside:10.0.0.33 (type 8, code 0)
I am suspecting that there is a NAT error and/or a lack of a static route for the rest of the 10.0.0.0 traffic, and that I may have to exempt/route the traffic for the HQ network (10.0.0.0), but I haven't been able to get the correct entries to make it work.
Below is the config.
Can anyone see if there is something sticking out?

Access Point not visible in UMS server for Application using UMS adapter
Email Driver Properties for email is configured in UMS and works fine which means its able to poll for any incoming Email from the Configured Account.
Now i am builiding a soa Composite application and and using UMS adapter to receive that incoming mail and process it further.
I have succesfully deployed that application in my soa server but it doesn't show any access point for that application.
I have followed oracle Documentation (section 11.2.3.3)
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/integration.1111/e10231/ums_adapter.htm
how to get that Access point configured for application ?
Please Help.
Thanks in Advance
DivyanshuThanks for the reply.
I had readded the access points after phone reset, so they are available under internet destination but none of the apps are able to see them.
I also saw 3-4 processes listed under panic tab in KillMe application, not sure if being inside panic tab means that the processes crashed, i hope it's not a hardware related problem. -
IOS to LWAPP for 1130AG Access Points
We have initially installed IOS-based 1130 APs. If we would be upgrading it to LWAPP mode, could we pushed IOS-to-LWAPP upgrade thru the network? what procedures are required?
Hi Leopoldo,
This is possible and fully supported and can be done using the "LWAPP Upgrade Tool". Have a look at the following;
LWAPP Upgrade Tool Troubleshoot Tips
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_tech_note09186a008072d9a1.shtml
Access points must run Cisco IOS Release 12.3(7)JA or later before you use the upgrade tool.
System Requirements
You can use the Autonomous to Lightweight Mode upgrade tool to install Cisco IOS Release 12.3(11)JX on these access points:
All 1100 series access points containing MP21G (802.11g) radios
***All 1130, 1230, and 1240 series access points
All modular 1200 series access points running Cisco IOS software and containing these supported radios:
802.11g: MP21G, MP31G
802.11a: AIR-RM21A-x-K9, AIR-RM22A-x-K9
All 1300 series access points in access point mode
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/ios/release/notes/b311jx1.html
Cisco has released a free tool called the "Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool" that allows selected Cisco Aironet autonomous access point models to be configured for lightweight mode operation.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports the following models:
Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series access points
Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series access points
Cisco Aironet 1200 Series access points that contain 802.11g (AIR-MP21G-x-K9) and/or second-generation 802.11a radios (AIR-RM21A-x-K9 or AIR-RM22A-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series access points
**Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g radios (AIR-AP1121G-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Points/Bridges (AIR-BR1310G-x-K9 or AIR-BR1310G-x-K9-R). A Cisco Aironet 1300 Series operating in Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode only operates as an access point. This series does not support LWAPP bridging mode.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports a process to migrate an autonomous access point from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. Unlike a VxWorks to Cisco IOS Software upgrade, this process is a Cisco IOS Software upgrade to the existing Cisco IOS Software image-not an operating system "swapout". In converted access points operating in lightweight mode, Cisco IOS Software continues to run on the access point, while LWAPP is used to communicate with a wireless LAN controller. Since LWAPP supports automatic access point configuration, there is no need to retain or convert the original autonomous Cisco IOS Software access point configuration.

Can't HP Officejet pro 8100 do wifi access point?
Yesterday my HP Officejet pro 8100 arrived and I try to connect via wifi. I thinked that It need a infrastructure access point to print via wifi.
When I powered on the printer I osserved that It create an access point autonomously with SSID: HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro, with IPv4 address server, etc...
I was very happy and I printed a page with my smartphone samsung s4 connected directly with printer access point (not wifi direct but standard wifi).
Today no changed occurred but I can't use printer with its own access point, but only with an external wifi access point.
Someone can help me, please? It could be an hardware problem?
Thanks,
Luca
P.S. in web server I checked that "access point connectivity" (Punto di accesso wireless connettività in Italian) is checked.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hello lucait
To print via WiFi you need to have a wireless router setup. Once you have the wireless router setup correctly you will have a SSID and Wepkey that will enable you to add devices to your network. The network will allow all your devices to communicate not just with each other but with the internet. At the moment your printer was not put in a network so instead of broadcasting on a network it is broadcasting on it's own network called HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro which is only good for a short period of time to allow you to setup your wireless. I am going to assume you have a wireless network and you are just needing assistance getting the printer setup on that network.
To set your printer up on a network you will need to reset your network defaults so your printer begins to broadcast that HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro network again. You can do this buy following the steps on the HP Support document Resetting the Network Settings. Once you have done this you can begin to install the software that came with your printer on your computer. You want to set the printer up wirelessly when the option arrives. The software should configure your printers wireless for you and put it on the network. Once completed you should be able to access your printer from all your devices as long as they are on the network.
I hope this helps resolve your wireless issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Symbol Netvision Phone w/Cisco 1200 series Access Point
I am running 802.11b access point my phone can associate and get an ip address from my call manager but I keep getting "not registered" "registered". I and then I lose association to the access point. I have 2 vlans on one access point one for voice and one for data. Please let me know if someone has a work around or a fix.
StanStan,
Sounds like you have an interference problem.
What did your site survey show up in terms of other AP's and overlapping coverage areas ? Try a new channel that has the 2 channel separation from other busy channels and maybe even try a new/better placement of the AP
effectivly what you have now is the equivalent of pulling out the cable and plugging it back in constantly on a standard IP phone this means you will not be able to make calls
What firmware you running on the AP ?
