Ingesting part of a CF card

I am trying to migrate from FCP 7 to FCP X but I can't seem to figure out how to do the same thing as "Log and Transfer" in FCP 7.
Basically we do daily edits where I only want to browse the contents of my CF card, pull bits of clips and then edit. I don't want to have to import everything off the card each time I put a CF card in....
Is there a way to accomplish this in FCP X?

If you want truly independent original clips, rather than one long clip which is divided only by keywording within FCP X, this is a way of doing it.
All you need is a hard drive or partition on a drive which you can dedicate to this purpose. Even your camera's card will suffice - what you need to do is rename the drive (or card, when it's mounted on your desktop) to VIDEO - or some name that FCP X will recognise as a camera (DCIM etc may work).
Move your newly shot files to the root of the drive (they must not be in folders).
Launch FCP X - and press Cmd+I (the letter i). The Camera Import window opens and your VIDEO drive should be listed. Select it and your clips will appear.
You can log in and out points where you want and import only the useful material. It will not be recompressed, just trimmed and copied over - so you don't lose any 'quality'.
Works brilliantly.
(If you re-named the camera card, you may need to change the name back so that the camera will read it).

PS - I have not yet tried this, but I believe it's not necessary to rename a drive or card - just put a folder in the root of the drive and call it 'video' or similar, and it should work.

Where are you located?
Just go and buy an iTunes gift card at any store in your country.
Then follow all the steps you did, but when it asks you for the credit card number, there shoujld be a GIFT CARD option which will let you load your account witht eh funds form the gift card without providing a credit/debit card #.

Yellowish tinge on the bottom part of my SD card 15" MacBook Pro

I just got my new 15" SD card MacBook Pro and it looks to me like there is a yellowish tinge to the lower part of the screen. Doing a quick search I see that this was a problem with some of the older MBP models. Has Apple fixed this with the new sd card models or is anyone else having this problem?

Actually all of my photographic mediia is from Lexar. They offered me a free copy of the software.
So far I have never needed to use it to recover any lost photos.
I was testing it on some of my media after having uploaded the images to my computer.
To test it I deleted photos with both the camera and the computer.
In another test I performed reformats both in the camera and on the computer.
This software was able to recover all of the current photos plus other from previous shoot also. It was so easy to use I was completely satisfied.

Help I lost the recipt from my $25 dollar app card and part of my redemption code got sratched off now it is illegible, anyone else had this problem? And were you able to redeem the card with help from app store support? I already went through the support process just waiting for my e-mail from them but it could take up to 48 hours...

Thanks for your reply, but I guess whether this was a silly question is a matter of opinion. That is the whole purpose having these forums...so that people can post their questions, silly or not. Maybe you are an Apple expert or have "techy" knowledge, but I don't. So what may be silly or stupid for you, can be completely different for a novice apple consumer like me. If you must know, I did do my research, and I did do the basic trouble shooting.All to no avail. I took my phone to the apple store, had it diagnosed and was told some very inaccurate information. I ended up going back today, and got a second opinion. This person actually took the time to talk to me and to better explain Applecare and my warranty. She also told me that there is no such thing as a "break in" period, and when there is a shutting down issue, even after a "restore" that it was better to get it replaced. Which is what she did. She replaced my phone. Obviously, the first person, by his own admission, was too tired and ready to go home to actually take the time to explain and offer other options...

Apple Pay but skipped the part about linking iTunes Card

I setup Apple Pay and skipped the choice to link the credit card tied to my iTunes account.. I added several other cards with no problem but would now like to link the card associated with iTunes account now.. Cannot find a place on the iPhone or iTunes to do so.. Thought I'd just blow away Apple Pay and start anew but don't see a choice to do that.. Can remove individual cards but cannot default Apple Pay and start anew.. Based on what I have seen, the ability to add the credit card you have on iTunes is only available on initial set up. After that you will need to add it as you would any other card.

B590 - SD media card reader part number?

Please can someone confirm the part number of the SD card reader and where I can purchase one for my B590 as it didn't come with one and there is a void in the casing where there should be one.

Looking at page 62 of the B590 HMM, the part number for the Card Reader (I/O Board) is 90000234.

AFAIK, having a void on the card reader slot means the I/O Board has no card reader (most likely on selected B590 models). To verify this, may I know the machine type model of your B590 system (eg. MBX3PUK)?
If you're planning on replacing the card reader, you can opt to:
1. Replace it with this item (I recommend you contact the seller first for best compatibility)
2. Use a USB card reader (cheaper alternative)

Prelude Ingest don't work as expected with P2 material.

I try to ingest my footage from P2 card and this is what's happening.
If I just use Ingest dialog windows with P2 mode like just clicking the card, it shows only less than half of the footage as you can see in 2 images of below.
Ok. So tryed to solve the problem and got to the "folder mode" and marking all clip parts and ofcourse check "stitch clips together mark" and choose Transcode to h264. After that, Media Encoder tells me multiple errors. It shows error box "One or more errors occured during ingest.Please check the..." And event window tells "Transcode task failed. Reason: AME unknown error!" and "Concatenate task failed. Reason: AME unknown error!". Adobe mediaencoder errorlog tells "
- Encoding Time: 00:00:15

Thank you for your post.
The two images you posted represent the different views of Prelude interprets P2 clips. On the 'File Directory" view, it shows much more footages than the 1st image under the same folder, because there are spanned clips for the two shots. When a shot or take is recorded requiring more than the file size limit of a medium, a file-based camcorder starts another file, and continues recording the shot to that file without interruption.
So, you could do the ingest from either view. For P2 clip, prelude imports all of the spanned clips within a single shot or take as a single clip. No need to transcode.
To import a group of spanned clips, select one of them to import all of them. If you select more than one spanned clip, you will import duplicates of the whole group of spanned clips as duplicate clips in the Project panel.

Procurement Card Requisition to Payment flow

I need to know how to match Supplier Pcard Invoice to be paid to Card issuer with POs that were created for supplier.
Logically I have divided the Pcard Procurement to Payment flow:
Parties: Buyer, Vendor, Procurement Card Issuer
* Punchout Pcard Requisition to Toucheless Purchase Order
* Purchase Order Transmission to Vendor with Pcard information
* Vendor payment collection from Card Issuer on daily basis(This is out side of Oracle eBS or Buyer's system)
* Vendor to send Pcard statement for Payment to Buyer
* Buyer to reconcile Pcard statement with PO History Feed
* Import Invoice to be paid to Card issuer
My question is, how to traceable POs paid from Invoice data, as the invoice will be created for card issuer as supplier so that they are paid whereas the POs were created for vendor who was enable with Procurement Card.

XP Pro, Service Packs 1,2,3, and sound card problems

I recently purchased a white macbook. So far it has been a very good experience, however I am having some trouble with XP Pro and its service packs. I've installed XP and it works fine for the most part however the sound card does not work. I tried to install the sound card drivers but they did not work. My questions are:
- Do I need to install service pack 1 seperately or does it install with XP?
- Can I only use service pack 2 for the drivers to work or can I use service pack 3 as well?
- When I try to install service pack 2, it says that i require 4 more megabytes, I free space, however it still states the same thing, how do I resolve this?

the 4MB error has amde its return with the Service Pack 3, so maybe these insructions can help you:
1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.
2. Navigate to

3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
XP with Service Pack 2 was always a neecessity with BootCamp.
Microsoft has add some with the SP2 that are needed for BootCamp to work.
For older (pre-SP2 XP-CDs) you can use these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp to make yourself a XP SP2 installation CD.
Works with SP3 as well, but to my knowledge you must have a XP SP1 CD for start.

Thanx very much Amishcake , your link was very helpful. i followed the steps and when i got to the part where you enter card details on my iphone , i discovered that the last two options after amex that is 4. discover 5. None , are not part on the options i get on my iphone so i dont get to choose the none option. Am really worried.

Swap PC Card Slot on T61P?

When I ordered my T61p I made the mistake of ordering the wrong option for the PC Card Slot. I accidentally ordered the Smart Card Slot instead of the Media Card Slot.
1. Is this swappable by me?
2. If yes, does anyone know the part # for the Media Card Slot and/or is it multiple parts?
I got a PCI-e 3G Card and I can't use it until I remedy this.
If a Lenovo Moderator knows the answer or anyone else in this forum I sure would be grateful for the help!

If you go to this Lenovo webpage, download your 14.1" or 15.4" Hardware Maintenance Manual.
In there you should find the proper part number.

It depends in part on what graphic card it is attached to. And if you have 2nd monitor.
Mac Pro 2009 + OEM GT120 + Dell doesn't always work with the MiniDisplay Ports.

Recording old vinyl records - Sound Card?

I have an HP Pavilion P7-1054. I want to record my old records. I can hook up my turn-table to my amp. I need to hook up my amp to my computer. I can buy a mini-to-RCA adapter to hook my amp to my computer sound card. The instructions say "verify your sound card can handle the line" I don't see anything in the back of the computer that shows "sound card". Where would I plug the cable into the computer?

Please try line in (yes TRY, I'm not saying this is going to work because you many need more hardware to convert from analog to digital first). Your amplifier may help but I'm not sure what is your amplifier.

Simultaneous execution of time critical parts(one is the drive connected to serial port and the other is the DAQ) in a vi

We are developing a software for a cyclic spin test using Drive.
The drive software consists of a profiler part which should be running in a 50ms
interval.(every 50msec th operation should happen).
This Part uses a DAQ card.
To get some digital status we use serial link .
The status update can be every 250msec.
The problem is that the status read takes a minimum of 70msec to complete
(The serial protocol for the drive specifies some delay b/w operation).
We would like to have the status without affecting the 50msec operation.
How can we do this?
We run Labview 6.0 on Windows2000.

I`m not sure how the serial VIs affect the mutithreading of the LabVIEW environment, but setting LabVIEW to run multithreaded and running the two operations independent of each other (in two while loops without data-dependency between them) might do it. You will find the option for multithreading under "options". Bear in mind that a re-start of LabVIEW is necessary before the changes come into effect.
I would time-stamp the reply of the drive with the time of the request, not after receiving the data.

Can Any one please help me find a compatible Wireless N MINI PCI Express Card for my HP G50-133us?

I have a HP G50-133US notebook, it currently has a Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter. I am looking to upgrade it to a B/G/NWiFi Card. I can find plenty of Mini Pci-Express Wireless N cards but not sure if they are compatible. Does anyone know if as long as it is Mini PCI-Express and have the correct drivers this would work? Or does anyone know if a known working upgrade that would work? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!.

You MUST get an HP branded wi-fi card AND it has to be on the "white list" for your computer in the BIOS or the card will block the computer from booting with an error message. Here is a link to your Manual:

Page 19 starts the list of known compatible wifi cards.
You can search eBay by part number for the card and likely find one at a decent price.
