INI file preference not being followed - Regarding SAP Note 1409494

Hi,
Following SAP Note 1409494, it seems like there is a preference over locations of INI files.
I have setup on my Citrix servers, the environment variable (SAPLOGON_INI_FILE) pointing to a central location of INI file.
The problem is that in the same server there is the BW logon pad that requires a different set of configurations, therefore a second INI file.
When I try to use the first option on the note (command line parameter /INI_FILE) pointing to a second INI file, it uses the one on the environment variable.
Is that the way it's supposed to work???
Is there a way to bypass this?
Thanks!

Hello Vijith,
I guess you are talking about <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1034932">note 1034932</a>. It is currently being changed, what it will basically say is:
If you put the jars somewhere in /usr/sap and later on upgrade the engine you will actually loose the entire folder and will have to copy the jar files again.
As a permanent solution you could define an <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ee/0618d0899001408d821096c85ff8a2/frameset.htm">HTTP Alias</a> on the engine (not an application alias but an http alias) which will point to a folder on the file system outside the /usr/sap folders.
After that just set JavaGuiCodeBase for the applet to whatever you chose for the http alias name.
If you have suggestions to further improve the note, please let us know.
Best regards
Rolf-Martin

  • Library directory (8.2 ini file/preferences)

    I would like to move the library folders, and I found in the help files the option to change the library directory, but it doesn't show up in the preferences window, and adding anything to labview.ini does nothing.  Is this a problem with the documentation? Or is it just poorly documented?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I think it was possible in 8.0 but I tried it and moved my user.lib...
    It sucked, scared a lot of LabVIEW tools software and I have turned it off. (So has done NI).
    Is there a reason why you want to do this?

  • Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible - yet no profile.ini file is missing (folder empty), clean reinstall has not not worked

    I'm running windows 8 and had recently handed my computer back to be repaired. When I got my computer back I started getting the error that states that "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." upon opening.
    I've had this before and just renamed the profile.ini file as something different forcing Firefox to create a new profile. However the profile.ini file is not there, at all.
    Everything that I've searched for shows profile management through firefox, but I can't open firefox to create any profiles so they don't help at all.
    Does anyone know

    This is usually caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 is no longer present on the hard drive.
    *Windows: "%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\"
    *Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
    *Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
    *Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
    *Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
    *Use "Choose Folder" to recover an existing profile if there is still one present
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing+profiles
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    The "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

    If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

  • We want your LabVIEW INI files!

    Hello:
    As some of you might know, the Tools>>Options dialog box allows you to control options that are stored in the LabVIEW.INI file. With each release of LabVIEW, we have steadily increased the number of available options to customize LabVIEW environment. For example, the LabVIEW R&D team has added over 15 block diagram options since LabVIEW 5.x and only removed a small handful.
    As the LabVIEW team introduces new features, we provide more and more configurable options to satisfy different development styles or interests. However, the proliferation of options can prove confusing. It becomes difficult to distinguish between widely-used options and ones that are applicable only to a small set of customers.
    To gain a better sense of how customers use the settings in the Tools>>Options dialog box, I would like to collect as many customer INI files as possible. This will allow me to analyze option usage and improve the usability of the Tools>>Options dialog box.
    Please help by sending your INI file(s) to the following email address along with answers to a few simple questions. The more INI files, the better. Therefore, encourage your colleagues to send their INI files, too! If you are a MacOS or Linux user, attach your LabVIEW Preferences or .labviewrc file.  I'm interested in receiving INI files from users of all experience levels -- novice, intermediate, advanced!
    Send to: [email protected]
    What is the first version of LabVIEW that you used?
    When upgrading to a new version of LabVIEW, do you copy the LabVIEW.INI file from the older version of LabVIEW to the newer version of LabVIEW?
    When launching a new version of LabVIEW, do you immediately change any particular settings in the Tools>>Options dialog box? If so, which ones?
    When upgrading to a new version of LabVIEW, do you review the New and Changed page in the Tools>>Options dialog box?
    Which options are you the most passionate about? Please provide a brief reason for each.
    Do you have any suggestions to improve the usability of the Tools>>Options dialog box?
    Please do not forget to attach your LabVIEW.INI file.
    Note:  On Windows the LabVIEW.INI file resides next to the LabVIEW.exe.   On Mac OS, your options are stored in the LabVIEW Preferences text file in the System: Preferences folder.  On Linux, the .labviewrc file is in your home directory.

  • Why vi dll creates ini file on its own?

    Hello,
    I have built my LabVIEW project as shared library (dll).
    My system looks like this: main exe file loads dll, and this dll loads VI dll.
    With LabVIEW 2011 it was ok, but when I switched to 2013 my VI dll started to write into main exe ini file.
    When dll is loaded those lines appears in main exe ini file:
    [LVRT]
    RTTarget.ApplicationPath=C:\Users\user\Documents\LabVIEW Data\Remote Development\startup.rtexe
    RTTarget.VIPath=C:\Users\user\Documents\LabVIEW Data\Remote Development
    Does someone know what causes this and how to turn it off?

    I got the same thing when I built an exe. I have a custom INI file, it has the following entries:
    [Oscilloscope 2013]
    server.app.propertiesEnabled=True
    server.tcp.serviceName="My Computer/VI Server"
    server.vi.propertiesEnabled=True
    WebServer.TcpAccess="c+*"
    WebServer.ViAccess="+*"
    DebugServerEnabled=False
    DebugServerWaitOnLaunch=True
    FPFont="Segoe UI" 15
    appFont="Segoe UI" 15
    dialogFont="Segoe UI" 15
    systemFont="Segoe UI" 15
    BDFont="Segoe UI" 15
    The only dll it calls is lvanlys.dll. After running the EXE the following are appending to the INI file
    RTTarget.ApplicationPath=C:\Users\XXX\Documents\LabVIEW Data\Remote Development\startup.rtexe
    RTTarget.VIPath=C:\Users\XXX\Documents\LabVIEW Data\Remote Development

    A Windows ini file is not the same as a Java properties file.
    Use the right tool for the job. There is a Ini4j project at Sourceforge. Google it.

  • IDS INI files - Still used?

    Hi,
    We're running IDS 2.2 p05 to access Documaker archives and that works fine.
    I've noticed that, while we have kept the files DOCSERV.XML and DOCCLIENT.XML in sync, we also have the files DOCSERV.INI and DOCCLNT.INI that have never been updated.
    We have created and are using a new ReqType in DOCSERV.XML that does not exist in DOCSERV.INI, so I assume that the INI files are not being used by IDS, since everything runs fine.
    For our June delivery, I will be implementing a RUNDAP solution that will use the ReqType RPD. Will I need to update these INI files for this to work ? Are these two INI files still relevant?
    Thanks,
    Gaétan

    Hi Andy,
    That's what I was expecting, but Documaker being Documaker, ou never know :-).
    Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.

  • Labview ini file syntax

    Hi
    I have a ini file built into an application as a support file. When I did some changes on ini file, some change was reflected in executable file but some not. I suspect the syntax in ini file are not right so aren't recognized.
    Besides, how ini file works? when I change the ini file, do I have to re-execute the application in order to getting the reflection in application? Or if the configuration is changed via the menu Tools->option in application, will they rewrite the ini file automatically? Do I have to stop the application in order to reading a changed ini file?
     Where can I find a documentation about labview ini file as well as its syntax?
    Thanks.

    An .ini file is a standard file and is not something that is special to LabVIEW. LabVIEW itself uses an .ini file to store some application settings that you change via the Tools->Options menu. It is not wise to change this file yourself manually. You can create your own .ini files for your application. You can use the VIs in the Configration File VIs palette to read/write .ini files. This palette is a sub-palette from the File I/O palette.
    As for its format, it's made up of sections and keys like this:
    [Section1]
    keyname=value
    keyname=value
    [Section2]
    keyname=value
    ;this is a comment
    If the value you're trying to save is a string you should use quotes.
    What you store in the .ini file is up to you and how you use it is also up to you. You can access the keys on an as-needed basis, or you can read the keys in at the beginning of your program, store them someplace like a global variable and access them as needed. It's kind of dependent on the size and architecture of your application.

  • Using INI files!

    Hi,
    I am new to the concept of INI files.
    I would be glad if any one call tell me which r the tutorials which explain the concept of INI in detail.
    Thanking in Advance.

    INI files are not particularly a java concept. If you need to read them, then by all means go ahead and do so. But if you are starting with a new design, property files are probably more java-centric, and have more support by default.

    The folks that have made recommendations are great but once their suggestions dont work they drop the link,
    Is there someone or someplace I can take my computer to fix this issue.
    It seems to be a problem between LR and Yosemite.

    The permissions have been changed on the destination folder where the photos are to be copied into.
    You must make sure that the permissions are set to Read and Write.
    Or perhaps the destination folder has been changed accidentally to something else, and you need to change it back to whatever it used to be.

  • SAP File System are being updated at Storage Level and as well as in Trash

    Hi Friends,
    We are facing a strange but serious issue with our linux system. We have multiple instance installed on it but one of the instance's file system are being visible in Trash.
    The exact issue is this.
    1. We have db2 installed on Linux now one of our instance's Mount Points are being available in LInux Trash if i create a file at storage level i.e /db2/SID/log_dir/touch test it will be dynamically updated in the trash and will be create in Trash also.
    2  this can not be a normal behavior  of any O.S.
    3 if i delete any file from trash related to this particular SID (instance) file will be deleted from the actual location.
    i know this is not related to SAP Configuration but i just want to find out root cause analysis. if any Linux expert can help in this issue waiting for an early reply.
    Regards,

    Hi Nelis,
    I think you have misinterpreted this issue. let me explain you in detail. we have following mount points in storage including SAP installed on it.
    /db2/BID
    /db2/BID/log_dir
    /db2/BID/log_dir2
    /db2/BID/log_archive
    /db2/BID/db2dump
    /db2/BID/saptemp1
    /db2/BID/sapdata1
    /db2/BID/sapdata2
    /db2/BID/sapdata3
    /db2/BID/sapdata4
    Now i can see the same mount points in the Trash of linux and if i create a folder ./ file in any of the above mentioned mount point it will be dynamically updated in Trash and if i delete some thing at storage / os level the same will be deleted from trash and vis versa.
    I have checked everything no softlink exists anywhere but i am not sure about storage / os level thats what i want to find out?

  • QT files are not being played at the right height on laptop - why?

    Hello eveyone,
    The QT files imported in my MacBook pro are HQ but are being played 1280 x 405 (for the length of the screen, but not at the right height). I can't even play view them with the Actual file feature. The Movie Inspector tells me the clipes were shot normal (1920x1080) yet I can't se them properly.
    I tried on a different MacBook pro and I have the same problem.
    Does anybody know why? What should I do?
    Thanks!

    Actually, there is no problem with the original files.
    Since I do not know how you came to this conclusion or if it is correct, my first thought is, "Show me the proof." I.e., post a captured image of the "Inspector" window for the player you are currently using. This will tell me which QT player you are using, whether the display is controlled by scaled dimension or aspect ratio settings, whether the file was encoded anamorphically or non-anamorphically, and whether the encoded aspect ratio matches the current display aspect ratio. It won't tell me the true aspect ratio of the video but a look at people and objects in a single video frame will normally disclose whether or not the display aspect is reasonably close or not.
    If I import them in say Final Cut Pro, I can see them properly...so it's only the Quick Time on our laptops that display the clips wrong.
    This isn't really helpful since FCP has settings that allow the user to both change and scale display dimensions and aspect ratios. QT 7 Pro will allow you re-scale the aspect ratio of a display but not alter its encoded aspect ratio while QT X will allow you to resize the display scale but only in reference to its encoded aspect ratio. Neither will allow you to display a file at dimensions greater than your current video card settings (i.e., where actual dimensions are greater than screen display resolutions for the encoded aspect ratio). In a similar manner, "fit" and "fill" option availability will also depend on the device/player and available screen resolutions/aspect ratiios which you have yet to indicate for either platform previously mentioned.
    The full length of the screen, but not the full height... Do you have any advide on how to get the settings done? I looked into the QT settings and coulnd't find the right button/panel...
    As previously stated, the first step is to determine if the files are being displayed correctly—i.e., at their correct aspect ratio for the allowable display space available for the current screen resolution available on the platforms being used for viewing. For instance, are you viewing in the full screen mode, or with menu bar being displayed and/or with the dock in or out of active display. These settings plus the video card screen resolulution will determine the maximum number of viewing pixels available fort the display height. Once the scale height is set by the QT player, then QT app will scale the display width to what it believes is correct display setting. If the aspect of the display is correct for the scaled height and width, then the file is being displayed correctly at the maximum display height available and there is nothing wrong and nothing to be corrected either in the file or the media player other than your desire to play a file at dimenensions larger than available for your display. (I.e., this is equivlent to saying you want to display a 52 inch diagonal picture on 32 inch HDTV—"it ain't gonna happen."
    On the other hand, if the aspect ratio is incorrect for the maximum display height available for the app, system, and platform being used for viewing, then all of the other things I mentioned come into effect with regard to correcting the embedded display settings within the file.
    Example: If i take an anamorphically encoded 1440x1080 (1920x1080) file and display it on my monitor set to a resolution of 2560x1440, then I can display the file at its "actual" display size (1920x1080) or even scale it to 2560x1440 (Full Screen Display mode) but if I reset my monitor to a  4:3 aspect resolution of 1600x1200, then I cannot play the file at its actual 1920x1080 display resolution since its width is limited to 1600 pixels and when the 16:9 aspect ratio is applied to the 1600 pixel display width, the display height is limited to 900 pixels in a "Fit to screen mode."
    If your source file was recorded at 1920x1080, then the file's aspect ratio is 16:9 (1.78:1). However, your 1280x405 screen size implies that either the file is now being displayed in the "Fit" mode with a changed aspect ratio of 3.16:1 (1280x405) or that you are viewing the file in the "Fill" mode which chops off the top and bottom of your 1280x720 (1.78:1) display. (I.e., the "Fit" mode will scale the display at its current aspect to fit within the available display area and yet allow you see the entire display area as a "scaled view at the correct aspect while the "Fill" mode scales the video to fill your entire screen even if this means losing the top/bottom or left/right portions of the display area when the monitor resolution aspect ratio and video display ratio are not the same.)
    Therefore, if your file is correctly formatted as you claim, use the "Command-F" QT shortcut to view the file at its largest available dimensions at the correct aspect ratio on any platform and using either the QT X or QT 7 player. (Don't forget to set the QT 7 "Full Screen" preference.)

  • Help - "Unreadable files:.... The following files could not be imported..."

    Tried to add five .jpg photos to an existing iPhoto album and it raised this error:
    *Unreadable Files: 5*
    *The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).*
    I tried to open them with Photoshop and re-save them, different size - no go.
    iPhoto is set up to managed the photos in the library, when I look in the iPhoto library > originals > 2009 > directory, I see the photos there. They open with other apps just fine (preview.app, photoshop, browsers, quick look, etc.)
    How do I get these to show up in iPhoto? What did I do wrong? Or, how do I tell what's wrong with these files, as they appear to be just fine.
    Thanks for the help!!!

    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    If the new Library works correctly then it suggests that the other library is damaged:
    Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
    To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
    Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
    In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
    Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
    Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
    Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
    When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
    In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

    How i can Sync Sysvol folder on this server ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The gpt.ini file contains the corresponding GPO's configuration settings, which includes its current version number and the default GPO display name. The version number is updated every time a change to the GPO is made.
    In this case, there seems to be something wrong with the AD replication. To identify Active Directory replication problems, use the
    repadmin /showreps command.
    What's more, please check the Event viewer to see if there is any error  indicate a problem with Active Directory replication.
    For your information, please refer to the following article to get more help:
