Init.cssd not found in /etc/init.cssd

Hi all.
I have installed 10g r 2 on my box [ linux ES 4 kernel 2.6.5... ].
Installation was successfull.
I want to configure ASM on this box. but I am not able to see any cssd deamon running.
and even init.cssd file is not in /etc/init.cssd.
Can you please suggest .. me ..
Ragards,
JS

I want to use utl_file package and write a text file. I want that text file to be stored in my local machine. The init.ora parameter in the Oracle database server points to the Server path. Also Some 50 oraclients are installed for that DB server and each of us want to have our own local machine path for the text file to be created. Is there a way of doing this?

  • Elitebook 8740w fingerprint reader not found and etc.

Had a catastrophic drive failure. Installed new drive and Win 7 SP1. Having trouble getting everything to work. Is there a driver, utility, bundle, suite available for this computer? Tried Protect Tools Security Manager, would not install  because of hardware incompatibility, there must be 50 versions of that Suite, I used the one for Win 7 64 bit, sp62498. Web cam works with Skype but can't find the utility. The list continues, any suggestions other than buying the restore disk? Or can I?I generally like the bundled HP software, where do I find it? Thanks

Downloaded the manager, selected my computer model, must be a hundred drivers. Downloaded all the critical, do I need the recommended as well?. I am in the process of down loading a gig of drivers. Most of my stuff is working, I just don't know if good drivers are loaded or just using what Windows found when it was installed. This has been a lesson for me, I will always buy a Factory Restore disk. Wonder if I can still buy a restore disk for my HP?Thanks for you help.

  • /sbin/init not found after Solaris10-x86 first reboot

    Hello all,
I just installed Solaris 10 on a x86. Nothing seemed to go awry, AFAIK.
After the very first reboot it fails to boot with this:
    WARNING: exec(/sbin/init) file not found
    (Could not start init)
    Press any key to reboot.
    So I'm stuck, it seems.
It does not seem that the / slice is missing as I guess I'd have a totally different error message, something like "could not mount root fs", I dunno.
I'm sure that if I could boot the install DVD in single mode I'd be able to go and really check if /sbin/init really exists.
Except that... I'm used to Sparc with its OPB, dunno how to get x86's equivalent to OpenBoot.
Anyway, anyone came across the same "missing file" problem after initial install, and if so, how did you get out of it ?
Bonus question, is there an equivalent to OpenBoot on x86 and how to reach it ?
Before you ask.. this PC ran on Solaris 9/x86 a looooong time ago, no hardware changes, so no need to send me to the HCL :)
    Thanks,
    Jeff

WARNING: exec(/sbin/init) file not foundSorry, can't help you with this since I never encountered such an error.
Except that... I'm used to Sparc with its OPB, dunno
how to get x86's equivalent to OpenBoot. That would be the configuration manager. Its the question you get in the beginning where it asks you what image to boot ('press b or enter to boot normally'). If you press escape there you get into the section where you can determine the default boot device and add new hardware drivers when needed.

  • Starting Oracle XE on linux by /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start

    Hello,
I installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition on a Linux Ubuntu 7.04 (feisty)
following official installation instructions found here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/files/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#BABCEAHD
but I noticed a weird behavior.
    The installation process was ok.
The configuration process (/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure) was also ok.
I set everything on default except for the “starting on boot” option I choose NO, because the instructions let me understand that I can start the service manually by the command:
    $ /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start
The configuration process at the end also started the service well, so I could test my new oracle installation on my web browser following the url http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
    Everything went fine... but...
On the next boot I wanted to start my oracle so I typed
    sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start
but nothing happened and the server didn't go up.
    Looking into to script /etc/init.d/oracle-xe
    we can find this switch
    case "$1" in
    start)
         if test -f "$CONFIGURATION"
         then
              if test "$ORACLE_DBENABLED" != "true"
              then
                   exit 0
              fi
         else
echo "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition is not configured. You must run
'/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure' as the root user to configure the database."
              exit 0
         fi
         start
this means that if you chose NO (N) for the “starting on boot” option on the configuration process (NB this choice put false in the env variable ORACLE_DBENABLED) you can't start the dbms by this script.
I try comment the few lines
         then
              #if test "$ORACLE_DBENABLED" != "true"
              #then
              #     exit 0
              #fi
         else
and this time the server starts well.
So I deduced that something was wrong with the script and the official installation instructions.

    Yes... Thank you.
But I saw the problem could to be simple avoided using the options
    enable/disable for the script /etc/init.d/oracle-xe,
If you choose not to start oracle at boot time, you can start it
    manually by the sequence
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe enable
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start
then when you want to stop it
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe disable
by this last command we don't make oracle restart
    at the next system boot.
I think it would be a good thing to update the reference
    documentation at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/files/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#BABCEAHD
    to explain this situation better.

It is necessary to post code between code tags, otherwise it screws up. See the FAQ.

Have all the users with GNOME started a root's Terminal window???
I've noticed that using the Gnome's root terminal messes up the $PATH variable (as of today)... when i start archlinux (note: i don't use GDM) my path is:
    /bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin....
and many other items... but when a root terminal is started inside gnome, $PATH changes to:
    /usr/ucb:/bin:/usr/bin:/etc
And ldconfig will fail... (and any other tool in /sbin) this change is restricted to this window only. If you exit the root terminal and go to a normal terminal, the path is what is expected.
This happens on a clean reformatted machine, installed archlinux, doing a pacman -Syu, installing gnome and all extras (including system administrations tools) (as tested today).
Maybe some config file is messed or is a bug from the Gnome guys...
Anyways the only workaround i can think is to start a normal terminal (for the guys that use gnome or use GDM to start their machines) and in the terminal doing a "su -" to got root access (of course will ask for the password) and then update/install/whatever you want with pacman.
    And sorry about my english.

If I try reinstall this in Gnome /etc/init.d/oracle-xe will be contained in package installer/includes files - but not relly.

Yes dpkg has a purge flag.
dpkg --purge packagename will remove the entire package + support/config files for it.
    Use carefully.

  • [Solved] Init not found for new kernels

    Hello everyone,
I am experiencing this error message when booting using either the linux-3.7.x or linux-ck-3.8.x kernels. I would investigate towards something being wrong with systemd (i.e. the init= line suggested), but the system boots perfectly fine using linux-lts-3.0.56.1.
Relevant information I can think of:
/ is ext4, LVM. The lvm -3 update has not been done yet.
    mkinitcpio 0.13.0-1
I am mostly interested in any direction towards what to investigate -- the fact that there is something wrong with the init not being found, but only for certain kernels, perplexes me.

  • Init not found

It might be me but I think my computer is trying to make my life misserable. I've had Arch working on my Pentium 3 witch runs with an 450mhz processor. But yesterday I recieved a new HDD cause my "old" one had some unrepaireble errors.
I reinstalled Arch again the way it's supposed to be done (and the last time it worked).. But this time I get the following errors Note: I didn;t get all of the error messages since they went away to fast):
    Sontreset failed.
    SRST failed
    init not found
atkbd.c: Spurious ack on isa006/serio0 some program might me trying access hardware directly
What's going on here? The last error continues to turn up. I don;t get in linux. The same happens at ArchbLinux Falback
    yours,
    Bernhard

    Hi Bernie,
I have the same problem...I am searching a few days and cannot find the soluton.
    This is confusing:
    piix/ata_piix (Intel chipsets) - IMPORTANT
If you have enabled ide/pata/sata HOOKs in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf the 'ata_piix' module will be used.
This may cause your devices to shift names, eg:
    - IDE: devices from hd? to sd?
    And now:
You can get the old hda names back by appending 'earlymodules=piix' to your kernel commandline
    > this means we can use hdax back in grub and in fstab ?
    > 'earlymodules=piix' is an option for piix users ? Or are we obliged to add it ?

  • 8820: Symbol EventInjector$KeyEvent. init not found

    Hi
I am creating a custom application for blackberry which uses the EventInjector API and more precisely the following code:
     EventInjector.KeyEvent inject = new EventInjector.KeyEvent(EventInjector.KeyEvent.KEY_DOWN,Characters.ESCAPE,50);inject.post(); inject.post();
The code works on the Bold and on all the devices I tried through the simulator but does not work for the 8820.
The error I get is when I try to start the application and is:
    Symbol EventInjector$KeyEvent.<init> not found
I am not sure what I am missing, permissions are wide open for the Application itself. Any Ideas?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thx

please refer infoDoc#89603, recompile the program will resolve the issue, then could you please send your app sample code to me ([email protected]) so that I can made the doc more perfect.

kinit: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly
kjournald starting: commit interval 5 seconds
    kinit: init not found!
Kernel panic - not syncing. Attempted to kill init!
i used to see this happening several times before, but then pressing the resetbutton two or three times did the trick. which by the way i found very curious but didn't had the enthusiasm to investigate further. (i know, that probably was a bad mistake)
lately no restarting no beating and no shouting seems to help anymore.
funny thing: i have two archlinux installations on my pc and BOTH bootprocesses end in the same kernel panic.
has anyone any idea or experienced anything similar before?
    thanks a lot

booting isolinux via grub seems sketchy at best.
But, I can tell you this (if it helps). "init not found" means that it cannot find /bin/init on the root filesystem. This usually means that it can't MOUNT the root filesystem (the CD itself).
or mount the HDD partition which is the root fs image of the CD on the HDD ,
if thats what he is attempting to do ... i.e. boot CD image from HDD.
