Init.ora file parameter 'processses' not working
When I change the number of processes in my init.ora file from the default of 30 to 200, I get an error when accessing from SQLPlus that Oracle cannot be found. I run Oracle 8.1.6i on a Solaris v7 platform. Any suggestions???
I think your database could not "be found"
'cause it isn't up.
Change the init.ora file parameter 'processses' to 'processes' and restart
the database.
Oracle refuses starting up, if there are
mistyped parameters in init<SID>.ora.

Questions on init.ora file
Hi,
I have some questions on init.ora file. While checking the init file in my system i found that it defines a spfile in a non default location.
The parameter names are like
1) db1.__db_cache_size
2) *._kgl_large_heap_warning_threshold
3) *.sga_target
what do they indicate? I mean what does 'db1.__' , '*._' and '*.' indicate? There are multiple database in the Windows 2003 server and the db version is 10g R1

From the discussion i guess the following points
1) db1._ means they are specific to databases.
2) *._ and * means they are used accross databases and chaging it in any of the initfile might affect all? I seriously doubt this.You are mistaken when speaking about database. Bear in mind, a database is not an instance.
* here means this parameter will apply to any instance of that database (if it is in RAC), or to the only one instance of that database (if it is in non-RAC).

404 File Not Found error following 1.0.2.2.1 migration
I am on RDBMS 8.1.7.1.1 on Windows NT 2000 Server.
I attempted to migrate from 9iAS 1.0.2.1 Portal 3.0.8 to 9iAS
1.0.2.2.1 Portal 3.0.8.
There were not any errors in the migration logs.
When I attempt to test the Apache/Jserv the 'Is It Working'
appears. When I attempt to test the mod_plsql I can get to the
login/password screen and into the gateway administration but
when I click the home link I receive the Http: 404 File Not
Found.
The mod_jserv logs:

Which init.ora file in use?
I found init.ora in a couple places.
How do I determine which init.ora file my oracle is using?
Is there a sqlplus command to fine the init.ora in use?
So far, I found them here:
c:\oracle11g\dbs\init.ora
c:\oracle11g\admin\mydb1\pfile\init.ora.8172009222712
Which one is active?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.The one that's there in the DBS folder is the first one that is going to be looked upon by Oracle when it will try to start the instance. The one in the $OH/dbs/ is going to be active. The other location would not have the pfile all the time. Also, spfile should be used if you are in 11g. Why you areusing pfile instead of it?
Here is what I have for 11g system,

JBO-26001: NoXMLFileException
Cause: Could not open the named XML file for read.
The following is from Note 137429.1. Hope this helps.
Raja.
JBO-26001: NoXMLFileException
Cause: Could not open the named XML file for read.
Action: 1. Make sure that the file is present. In particular, if the file is to be found in a zip/jar file, make sure that the Zip/JAR file is included in the CLASSPATH.
2. This error is also reported if the name of the XML file does not match the object Name specified in the XML file. If the file system support case insensitive file names (e.g., Windows NT), make sure that the file name matches the object Name in the XML file in case-sensitive fashion.
3. For a .JPX file, this error is reported if the JPX file is missing the JboProject XML tag. Check the JPX file to make sure that the valid tag is in there.
4. One XML file may be extending another XML file (specified by the Extends element in this XML file). This error is reported if the base XML file is not found.
5. When loading the XML file for a package (JboPackage tag), this error is reported if some unexpected error occurs while loading a containee.
In all of the above cases, a more descriptive message may be printed on Diagnostic. If you are not seeing Diagnostic messages, you can run your application with Diagnostic turned on, as in "java -Djbo.debugoutput=console ...", to see Diagnostic messages. -
Java File not Found Exceptions and other errors?
Hello experts, an issue on our Portal has caught my attention. Every time the J2EE Engine is restarted, a large amount of errors are written on our Trace files. When looking at the trace files, I see that most errors are Java IO File not Found Exceptions. For example:

In summary, the system cannot find the files server.1.log, security.1.log, database.1.log and applications.1.log. I tried manually adding these files (I created them on my computer and left them empty) on the path written, but it did not work, for some reason they are deleted.
Another error that is happening during restart of the engine is the following:

Any ideas?Nothing really seemed to work when trying to solve this problem, just suddenly it stopped appearing. It might have been our installation of SPS 15, since it was around that time that the error went away.

Things seems to work, but I'm a bit worried.
It has just started. PS/2 atkbd stuff went fine.

Do all of those files exist on your sytemd? I'm not running testing nor systemd in my initrd, so I can't do much checking.

Why would you expect logging on to work when the fundamental installation failed and you chose to ignore the failure?
As pointed out, there were two zip files, and the contents of them have to be 'merged'. There was a comment about the on the page from which you downloaded those two files. And here's a hint: If you are wedded to the Windows GUI, when you click on a zip file and choose to unzip it, it will be unzipped into a newly created folder with the same base name as the zip file. Thus zip file 1 unzips into folder 1 and zip file 2 unzips to folder 2, leaving you with copy all of the contents of one into the other.
There is a cleaner way, and that is to learn to use a command line.
- open a command prompt (cmd.exe)
- change directories to the directory where your two zip files are located.
- issue the 'unzip' command, specifying file 1 ('unzip V17530-01_1of2')
- issue the 'unzip' command, specifying file 2 ('unzip V17530-01_2of2')
Done. You will have two directories, one named 'database' and one named 'grid'. The 'database directory will be the 'merged from two directories' directory. -
How to establish a single init.ora file for 3 node RAC under ASM
All,
Our environment is a combination of several different memory sized SUN machines (V880, V490 & 250R).
Setting up a single init.ora file that encompasses each of the nodes memory into the SGA sizing is our desired setup.
Though we have established the file, the question is getting each NODE on the RAC to use that single parameter
file to start its database instead of taking the default init.ora file in the default (asm/dbs) directory.
As we have performed fail-over testing, upon the restart of instances they have restarted with wrong memory
definitions that have hung the nodes when it took more memory then what was available and swap space began
to grow.
Steps to configure and enable this process is what I am looking for.
Thanks
GerryGerry,
Here's what we do. Not sure if it is relevant to your situation ...
(on each node)
$ cat $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/initrac11d1.ora
SPFILE='+DATA/rac11d/spfilerac11d.ora'
(in ASM)
$ asmcmd
ASMCMD> ls -la +data/rac11d
Type Redund Striped Time Sys Name
Y CONTROLFILE/
Y DATAFILE/
Y ONLINELOG/
Y PARAMETERFILE/
Y TEMPFILE/
N spfilerac11d.ora => +DATA/RAC11D/PARAMETERFILE/spfile.267.685170285
The spfile has all parameters, qualified by node where applicable. For example :
$ sqlplus / as sysdba

File created.

rac11d2.dispatchers='(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=msdbc12-vip)(port=64000))'

Extending Web Application - File Not Found
A quick search with no results and a ton of frustration are leading me here...I am attempting to use the very basic "Extend" functionality for a Web Application. We are trying to at the least add SSL/443 to SharePoint, if not convert entirely to
443.
I have tried simply extending the Web Application, or deleting the IIS Site (from Manage Web Applications -> Delete -> Remove SharePoint from IIS Web Site) and then extending the Web Application. Both are failing with the same error "File not
found." A review of the ULS logs shows that the site is failing to find the web.config for the brand new IIS site it should be creating...which I guess makes sense, but shouldn't it be creating this file?
I am tempted to mess around with the newly created site in IIS to make it work, but we are doing this in Dev as a proof of concept to do this in production. Needless to say, this needs to become much more reproducible before we'd even consider doing it in
production.
Some things I've tried:
Extending a Web Application with an existing site
Extending a Web Application without an existing site
Creating a new Web Application and extending existing port 80 site
Creating a new Web Application and extending after deleting existing port 80 site
I haven't tried creating a site 443 out of the gate mainly because I am afraid this functionality failing could be an indication of something wrong with the farm and want to fix this correctly, rather than deleting a Web Application and creating it 443 from
the get-go. Also, this method would obviously involve downtime.

Web-application deployment problem (404 - File not found)
Hello
Does anyone have had the same problems like me on deploying java web-applications on iPlanet WS 6.0?
I started with the HelloWorld.war example that came with the server and went through the manual but no luck so far. Heres what I did:
0. Checked that webapps are enabled in the servler.xml file
1. Created a directory /opt/webapps and /opt/webapps/hello with sufficient permissions
2. Copied the HelloWorld.war example to /opt/webapps
3. Deployed the excample on my test-server using the webinterface.
Heres the content of the web-apps.xml file of my testserver after step 3:
[DTD here]
<vs>
<jsp-servlet enable="true">
<init-param>
<param-name>use-precompiled</param-name>
<param-value>true</param-value>
</init-param>
</jsp-servlet>
<web-app uri="/hello" dir="/opt/webapps/hello" enable="true"/>
</vs>
All files have been extracted to /opt/webapps/hello properly. The server has been restarted.
When I finally point my browser to http://server/hello or hello/index.jsp I get only a 404 - File not found message by the server. The context path seems to be totaly ignored.
Heres the error log of the server

[Solved] grub2: file not found but booting fine
I just ran grub-mkconfig to update my grub.cfg because I installed E4rat. But now I have a problem: Every entry in grub2 can be booted and E4rat really boosted my boot process so actually everything is fine. But while grub2 is loading it says something like:
Grub 2 is loading...
Welcome to Grub 2!
error: file not found.
error: file not found.
error: file not found.
Now grub shows up and everything is as it should be. When I select Arch it again says "error: file not found." three times and continues with a normal boot process. So basically it's nothing that would brake my system but something seems not right and that's just a huge annoyance.
Here's my grub.cfg just in case:

Last edited by retzu (2012-04-16 14:16:02)I have the same error message as in the first post. "error: file not found" listed three times when I first choose Arch from the Grub2 menu. The solution linked to by the.ridikulus.rat would not seem to apply as I do not have the locales en* in /boot/grub/locale BTW, I am in the US. The system does boot though.
I just fixed this a few seconds ago and was going to post how, basically I just did "cp /boot/grub/locale/[email protected] /boot/grub/locale/en_US.mo" which seem to do the trick, the reason I didn't fix this sooner is the error only stays up for a very small fraction of a second making it hard to read.
# ls /boot/grub/locale
ast.mo da.mo fi.mo hu.mo it.mo nl.mo ru.mo uk.mo zh_CN.mo
ca.mo de.mo fr.mo id.mo ko.mo pl.mo sv.mo vi.mo
EDIT: I get the same three "error: file not found" messages when I boot Fedora (a multiboot system). This is with grub2 installed from Arch Linux.

ConfigurationException during deploy "CONFIGURATION FAILED! File not found"
Hello All,
The deployment of my adf app. is failing with the following error. Although till yesterday also, it was failing but atleast it was going much farther than this. What is causing this error? I did make changes to config.xml but then restored it. Any help is appreciated. This is critical.

I did some more research and found out that method loadURLs of class MetaInfFacesConfigResourceProvider.java is throwing IOException. Is this some kind of class path issue? Please help!
private Collection<URL> loadURLs(ServletContext context) throws IOException {
154
155 Set<URL> urls = new HashSet<URL>();
156 for (Enumeration<URL> e = Util.getCurrentLoader(this).getResources(META_INF_RESOURCES); e.hasMoreElements();) {
157 urls.add(e.nextElement());
158 }
159 urls.addAll(Arrays.asList(Classpath.search("META-INF/", ".faces-config.xml")));
160 // special case for finding taglib files in WEB-INF/classes/META-INF
161 Set paths = context.getResourcePaths(WEB_INF_CLASSES);
162 if (paths != null) {
163 for (Object path : paths) {
164 String p = path.toString();
165 if (p.endsWith(".taglib.xml")) {
166 urls.add(context.getResource(p));
167 }
168 }
169 }
170 return urls;
171
172 }

Edited by: user12054715 on Sep 14, 2011 2:13 PMI did a couple of things ( gathered from various posts on OTN). I am not sure which one did the trick but the error is gone now. I am mentioning the steps that I took. Later when I have more time, I will narrow down to exactly what worked.
1. The following was missing from my web.xml (Thanks Rene!) Added it
<listener>
<listener-class>com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener</listener-class>
</listener>
2. Removed any mention of 'Anonymous-User' from Jazn-data.xml.
Application tab -> Secure -> Configure ADF Security -> Jazn-data.xml (source tab and removed block of code referring to anonymous user)
Hope this will help others.
